SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Feb 18

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Feb 18, 2023 5:44 am

Good morning,

Yesterday was a semi-busy day. Not much sewing but I did cut binding strips for my North Stars and posted a picture. And cleaned a little bit in my sewing room and rearranged some stuff. Last night was our local Supper Club. The hosts made Armenian shish-ka-bob and cabbage rolls. Very good! Today's plan is to take it kind of easy. I'll finish cleaning my sewing room, piece the backing for Bigfoot, and make binding for North Stars. And I got my Bernie back from the Bernie Spa yesterday afternoon so I'll get him all set up and my other one cleaned, oiled, and packed up until next time he's needed.

LORI - your mini-retreat doesn't sound so mini at 4 days. What will you be doing there? Besides lots of laughing and talking? Do you go home at night? I've never been to a retreat.

CAROL - I wish I could go to your quilt show! Will you be there all day during the show? Have fun!

BECCA - I'm glad you found what sounds like a very worthwhile place to donate what you won't be taking with you. I'm intrigued by it's name, "Teen Challenge". It must be hard to make some choices. I'm so happy your family is there to help you. JANA had a good idea of getting a storage unit to store a few "unsure" items to decide later if you want to keep them.

JANA - Actually time is flying by re Kumquat. But I'm dying of curiosity to find out her name. I don't ask. They don't tell. But to tell you the truth, we've been calling her Kumquat for so long, it just might stick - at least with us! Today we start our 33rd week. :D Sounds like Sarah's FIL is in serious denial - which is actually very common with a lot of medical conditions. I doubt anyone is going to get through to him. He is staying in control. Perhaps it's best to just let him. Where do they live? You said "up", and I know "up" is north of you, right?

Tonite we are finally going to have our pesto pasta. And I have a lot of fresh spinach left over from the spinach salad I made last night for the gathering we went to. So I might toss some of that into the pasta, too.

What are you having?

Mary, glad Bernie is all ready to go again. Have to go check out picture. Cabbage rolls? Never had them. I do like cooked cabbage, so probably would like it.
Becca sounds like some happy times with a baby coming soon. Glad you have a place to donate your things.
Today was a busy day for me. Cut all the rope I would need for school backpacks.(DH going to help me in afternoon) Then at 10, my friend from church and I went to "Ed's" for hunting thru his $1 a yd fabrics. Found a lot of fabric for backpacks and some for quilts too.
I found two really neat golf fabrics. Then bought a few 1/4yd cuts to make two sample blocks for practice and test my ideas. Then if I am sure this is what I want to do, then I will go back on the first Saturday of March for the fabric sale.
Afternoon found DH and I putting the rope in 21 bags. I have 38 finished. My friend said she has 38 cut and ready to sew. She takes the lent season to challenge herself to sew a few bags each day. She wants to get 50 finished. I hope to do the same.
Also I pieced batting for 6 quilts. Well, they aren't stitched, just cut and folded together to get sewn Monday.
Tonight I cooked pork sausage from to meat market and made biscuits and gravy for supper. Now kitchen all cleaned and time for Wheel of Fortune. 🤗
HUGS, 💕 Vel

Mary, yes, I come home at night. It's at a friends house and she lives 5 minutes for me. She has a big studio.

Dinner was eggs and toast.

Sleep well.

Quilt show was great today. Yes I stayed most of the day. It was nice to see friends and to chat.

Dinner was Stuffed Pepper Casserole.
