SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Aug 28

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Aug 28, 2020 5:42 am

Good morning,

56* this morning, it definitely feels like fall. And it's dark. Just think - in 3-1/2 weeks we'll be halfway to the days starting to get longer again. :D

I did get my last backing finished yesterday. Today - load a quilt and get started. It's the only sewing thing I have going right now. Laundry is done though I need to make the trailer bed with the fresh sheets. House is clean-ish. Yard work is done and we got the garage squared away (again) yesterday. Bill made a run to the Goodwill and donated a carload of stuff. We saw Vicki's DD & SIL were there and they took 2 trailer loads to the dump. So progress there.

While I've been embroidering the 50 state birds, my sis has been doing the flowers. She's bringing them here after Yellowstone for me to put together. (she says so I can "give her guidance while SHE puts them together. ) But now she has a hand injury that she doesn't know how she did it - probably all that embroidering! And she may need surgery when she gets home. For now her hand is nearly useless. So I hope we can get her quilt done for her while she is here. We may need to go fabric shopping for backing/sashing/etc . . . . :o

JANA - OK - Minnie Mouse is going to be twenty 12" blocks and Minnie's head is going to be on every block with that cute trademark bow. With red and silver polka dot sashing and a black border. Do I have it now? I'm a Mickey and Minnie fan so I want to make sure the picture in my head is correct! lol!

CAROL - your recipe sounds good. And I happen to have all the ingredients! I did see a very similar recipe in BC Dinner For Two cookbook only they used canned tomatoes instead of mandarin oranges. I think your oranges sound better. I might toss in a handful of craisins, too. . . How did your eye test go?

TINA - So is Holly at the school all day now? Does this mean the kids will be doing school on-line at your house? I would imagine it would be really hard to keep little ones focused all day on schoolwork when Gramma's house has always been all about play. What grade is Jaz in? I guess for eyes on your snowmen you could always do a short black embroidery stitch. Up at center and then down, spoke fashion moving around the center until you've made a full round of stitches.

For supper tonite, I think we'll have Yankee Dip sandwiches with a salad on the side. Plus we have some fruit kabobs left over from last night. Tomorrow - maybe we'll give Carol's pork chops a try.

How's supper looking at your house?

Good morning!
Mary, Holly goes in to school from 8:30 to about 1:30, she's pretty much making her own hours. She could stay home and do it all but the boys wouldn't stay out of the room she set up plus Easton has to be in that room for his class too so she finds it easier to go in to the school. She's "on call" till 3:45 M-F. Maria (our daughter in law) does hers totally from home from 8 to 3:30 and she takes Matthew to his daycare because he wouldn't let her get her work done either. Easton is only online in his zoom class for 30 to 45 minutes, 1st graders start getting figity after about 25 minutes most days. Then they have homework everyday. Jazmyne has 3 classes M-Th, 12 to 12:45, 1 to 1:45 and 2 to 2:45, she's also on an AB type schedule where she does 3A classes Mondays and Wednesdays and her B classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays and she has homework pretty much everyday from each of her teachers. Jazmyne is in 8th grade. Yes, they go online here and they don't seem to mind except here I make Jazmyne sit at the kitchen table instead of in front of the tv or laying in her bed 🤦‍♀️ I can't believe Adam lets her do that...... well that's a total lie, I can believe he does that because he's lazy and doesn't care.
Any news on Becca? I sure pray she's getting better 🙏
Where's Irish?
Today the dogs are going to the groomer, it's been 6 weeks since they've gone and I've been giving them their baths. The last 2 days all the dried up skin from the sores started coming off so yesterday I spent an hour on Duncan brushing him and vacuuming him, he didn't mind it at all LOL I think he was happy to get it all off. Rosie didn't like the vacuum so she only got a little done but she has short hair compared to Duncan.
I need to get all our laundry done today plus wash the dogs beds again and I think I'll have Frankie wash their kennels out so everything is all fresh again.
Frankie is going to mow the front yard when we get back from dropping the dogs off. I need to do a little watering outside too.
Supper is going to be something with chicken. I watched Paula Dean the other day and she made her chicken and dumplings and that's on my list to make soon, not today because we're going to be 102° ....... I'm impatiently waiting for Fall....

Good morning!

Tina - the school school schedule here is terrible! Poor Crenda has to make a run over to the school, 6 or 7 times a day - 3 of the kids need to come at certain times and then go back, then each home at different times for lunch and back again. The oldest is in middle school and has a entirely different schedule. Poor Ethan is pulling his hair out with Zoom, he feels like no one is listening or paying attention to him. The kids just talk over everyone. Sarah is pretty sure she will pull him out completely and homeschool. The kids that attend here in person get Fridays off, those online has classes on Friday. And the in person kids get recess, online, are assigned work during that time. So not fair! No breaks during school at all for Ethan. Won't even start on Emma's day at school - she was in tears in the office, as the teacher told her she wasn't in that class. Finally got that straightened out and put her in the class, but no desk, etc! Ugggh! OK, no more soapbox!

Mary - glad I have you straight on Minnie. Karlie loves Minnie and Disneyland. Last year, as a thank you to the firefighters, Disneyland gave them free passes to all the parks. Daniel , Kari and Karlie all went. Oh there are some stories of Karlie telling Daniel that she is NEVER going on that roller coaster ride again! Karlie is very expressive with her facial looks and words. It is a hoot to see the look she can give Daniel or Kari.

Dinner - something easy and quick. I will see what is still in the surprise category in the freezer.

Hugs,
Jana

Good late morning from a warm but overcast, SW. Pa....This is really going to be a quickie...
I'm waiting for my sister to pick me up and we're off to her camp, up north...This is kind of a "throw some undies and toothbrush in a bag" and be on the road......Some friends of her's are buying property up near her camp and she's wants to welcome them to the area......We will be back on Sunday...Now, next weekend is the big trip, more than just the undies and toothbrush....The gal who just moved here is taking care of Baby Girl but, I still hate to leave her..But, I have a feeling, she'll be spoiled even more by the time I get back home.....

Oh well, time to run, will catch up with everyone when I get back.......

Not sure what our dinner will be but there are lots of good places to stop or take out along the way......

You all have a great rest of the day and a super weekend......

Happy eating....................

I'm back for a minute.

I e-mailed Becca's hubby this morning. He told me she is home from the hospital but is in bed and has a long way to go. I'm still not sure what her actual ailment is as he didn't elaborate and it seemed intrusive. I told him we all love and miss her and are praying for her and everyone says 'hi'!

Maryz - Thanks for asking about appointment. Unfortunately I need to go to a specialist. My appointment isn't until Sept. 30th. My eyes were dilatated all afternoon so I had to have car wash and stop at meat market done this morning. I also didn't get to sew until evening which is not a good time for me.

Last night we had the leftover chili and rice, so tonight will be Chicken Teriyaki and rice.

Prayers for Becca. So sorry to hear she is not well.

I need to get to sewing!

Mary, I think I have 7 tops to quilt as well.
Irish, it's nice that you have someone to watch your furr baby. Hope you have a great weekend trip.

Jana, I sure hope they get the school thing figured out. Some kids just don't do well with computer learning. They need interaction.

Tina, I haven't seen Paula Dean in years. I used to love to watch her show. She just loved to cook.

I quilted and bound a charity quilt yesterday. Then start to quilt another one I'm giving away at Christmas.
And since I had the roll of batting out, I cut batting for 2 more. My goal is to get at least 2 to completed by this weekend. We shall see.

For dinner I think we will put something on the grill. I need to go grocery shop, so I'll pick something up.

Have a lovely day.

I'm back for a minute break.
House is totally deer de-haired and mopped with an antibacterial cleaner, all that's left is dusting and I'm doing laundry at the same time. I'm exhausted so some may have to wait till tomorrow.
Mary, thank you for the update on Becca.
Irish, so glad to see you! And what fun things you have going on.
Carol, my eye dr moved and I need to find another, I'm not good at finding new doctors of any kind.
Lori, I think Paula Dean must have either a Facebook page or YouTube because they come up in my video feed in Facebook. If I think next time I'll send you the link in messenger.
Well I guess my break is over 😢
Oooooooooooh and I'm not cooking, we're gonna get something or I'll eat cereal... I'm too goners to cook tonight.
Tina
