Hello all my beautiful quilty friends.

Just on my way to bed but wanted to pop in here and say hello. Seems like I never get a chance to "chat" with y'all anymore. :(

My DGS and DH flew to KY last week just for the weekend. DH's family was having their annual family reunion and he wanted to go. This was a good opportunity for DGS to get to travel and to see his great grand parents (my mom and dad). They haven't seen him in six years (he just turned seven). DS and DGS moved out here when we got stationed here from Germany. DGS had just had his first birthday. With all of the legal crap going on, we couldn't take him out of the state. Now that all of that has been resolved and DS has custody, we can now travel!

Anyway, it was a surprise visit. Mom and Daddy had no idea they were coming in. Boy, were they ever surprised and elated! Of course, DGS doesn't remember them, but he sure did enjoy all of the attention. I am bummed that I wasn't able to go, but I am thrilled that DH and DGS were able to make the trip (they left on Friday and came back on Tuesday). DH's sister came back with them and will be here for 2 1/2 weeks. Hope she doesn't get too bored. Neither of us will be able to take time off of work, but we will have our furlough days to do stuff on! Guess there is a silver lining in every cloud, huh? LOL

DGS was thrilled to ride on a plane. He asked DH if he could say hello to the pilot, so DH said "let's wait 'til everyone gets off the plane and then we will see". Not only did he get to say hello, the co-pilot got out of his seat and let DGS sit there and touch the controls and explore everything! That was so awesome. What a wonderful memory he will have of this trip.

Today is "garage sale" day. We will be taking DSIL to the sales and then out for lunch somewhere along the way. After that, we want to go to the movies to see "RED 2". I loved "RED" and can't wait to see the sequel. Hope it doesn't disappoint.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and gets to do something fun. I'll check back later in the day to see what everyone has been up to.

See y'all later....

Hugs,
Mel

Mel- what a wonderful trip for your grandson. I'm sorry you were unable to go. Does your sister in law quilt? Maybe you could introduce her to your sewing machine.

Lois- You inspire me will all your days at the gym. I'm going to try to walk again today, my bug seems to have passed.

My DH bought us a new mattress!!!! We will have it tonight. It is an Icomfort. Maybe now when I wake up I will not hurt all over.

Emily and I plan on picking blueberries today. Yep, it's time of year again. The processing will start up soon too. My garden is growing really well this year but it is the worse year we have had for insects. It must be the weather we've had.

As I was laying in bed this morning listening to my son go in and out the door about 20 times getting ready for work, I was thinking quilts! I have so many projects I really want to work on. I need to stay off pinterest for while I think. Everyday I find something else I would like to make! Anyway I seen an idea about using quilter gridded interfacing to make a small postage stamp quilt.... Yes, I bought the gridded interfacing last night. We had our Panera supper last night and YES! Darryl took me to Joann's. They have a 25% off everything coupon plus the 40% off. Who can say no to that savings? I told him when we were checking out that I was saving him so much money :-)

But, that can wait until after the tree trunks are done. Maybe it should just be put on the back burner until my secret Santa project. Who could resist little 3/4 inch square block mug rugs???? I sure couldn't!

Well, I'm off to start my day!

Have a great one and keep looking up,
Vicky

Hi everyone :)

Mel - I miss chatting with everyone too, don't seem to be able to get on as much these days :( What an awesome trip for your DGS, how cool he got to go in the cockpit too....this will definitely be a trip he won''t forget :) shame you couldn't go with them but maybe next time :)Ooh I hope Red2 is good, I loved Red and want to go and see the second one, have a great day :)

Lois - have fun at the gym and with Hallmark later.....I might be doing much the same later LOL

Well our heat wave finally broke and boy is my chest pleased, the heat really affects my asthma, it's still not perfect but I'm breathing a lot easier, i think we will have a much cooler week this week, thankfully......I think I'll spend most of today in my studio, tidying and sorting as I am off this week to our big quilt show on thursday and friday, so I feel I need to clear up and make space for any little purchases I might make LOL other than that I'm hoping for a quiet week because we have a lot of the family coming over on Saturday for a BBQ......there will be a lot of my family and the newly discovered family we found, it will be a good chance to get to know each other more and for more of my family to meet them....so I know come the end of this week I am going to feel pretty shattered.....oh and on Wednesday I am going with Charley to order her wedding dress, she is going to have a final try on and make her choice and get it ordered, so she is very excited :)

Love, prayers and friendship sent out to all of you, have a great weekend xxx

Good morning everyone.
Well, it looks like rain today. Which is fine. Everything I need to get done is inside stuff. I have already got dinner done. We are having macaroni salad with pre-cooked grilled chicken in it. After hubby gets up I can get the last load of wash done. I need the sheets on our bed is why I have to wait. A couple more uglies then off to my studio. After I get the Christmas Swap blocks done I am planning a quilt for one of my cousins kids. She is having surgery for her heart arrhythmia. I won't get it done before the surgery but it is the thought that counts. This working thing keeps getting in the way of my quilting. Have a great day.

Good morning, we are both sleepy heads today, but the sun is shining , i was looking out the window at the yard and we have a family of ferral cats now living in our wood pile. Momma and 4 babies,,,while I know they are adoarable....we need to trap them and take them to the shelter. Some of the folks around here shoot them but WE DO NOT. All are gray and white with blue eyes. they come out and look at you. then skitter back onto their den. while they are cute they will continue to multiply and this is our second batch, soon there could be hundreds of cats around here,,,,this all started when someone dropped a pregnant cat on the next block....a lady saw them let her out of the car and drive off...but she was so scared they couldn't catch her, Now we have a problem. If I could figure out how to get them to catch moles...problems here would be solved....the mles have all but destroyed my garden, We are getting only half of what we usually get. I am not sure I will get potatoes haven't dug there yet,,,but 2 tomatoe plants have died from the moles. Weeding is the order of the day if the bugs leave me alone. Hope you all have a great day XXXOOO

Good morning love reading all your posts. Wow Vicky blueberries just coming in up there, interesting ours are in around first part of June I wish I had some fresh now--do have some frozen but I love to eat them right off the bush:)

Jules sounds like fun and a lot of stress coming your way planning a wedding. My son got married in June I was thankful I was mother of groom nothing really to do but sit back and watch the brides mom stress out. It was beautiful and everyone is unstressed now:) I will keep you in my prayers:)

Open house last night was crazy it is first time in my 7 yrs in this school district that parents came to my room. So much fun but I was wore out. I think the location of my room helped too. I am between a 3rd grade and 5th grade teacher and have several students in their classes. My back was killing me. Not sure I am ready for monday.

Mel so glad the family had nice trip to KY and the weather here was super then too nice and cool bet that surprised them a bit too.

God bless you all and have fun sewing

Good Morning!

MEL - what a wonderful trip your DGS will have! so nice of the pilots to let him experience the cockpit. We want to see RED II, too. We just watched RED on TV. With Bruce Willis, what's not to enjoy! I'm sure your sister will have a good time visiting you.

LOIS - you had to go and mention laundry . . . .

VICKY - sorry you had to end up working yesterday at your MIL's. Does she need an aide with her 24/7? Yes, Pinterest is a good/bad thing. I'm trying to not let my head be swayed until I get all my current projects 'in the can'. It's HARD!!

JULES - I hope you are able to store up energy for your big family BBQ next weekend. Have a wonderful time at your quilt show!

SUZ - prayers for your cousin facing cardiac surgery.

PAT - on my laptop, I go up to the top bar and open a new tab and type in Quilt in a Day. This way I can go back and forth, reading one and typing on the other. Would this work on your computer?

JUDI - and here we are, low on cats! An there you are - with extras! They say well-fed cats are the best hunters. Maybe you should give them extra food. (because knowing you, you're probably already out there giving them some!)

IZZY - Come Monday, I know you'll find your strength somewhere! and by Friday it will all be routine again.

CHRISSY - have a pink day!

We are leaving about 7:30 to go to my son's today. He lives in a rural area east of Seattle. We're hauling mulch for him in our pick-up. Two loads at least. Of course, this also means that we'll be helping to spread it because we have to empty the pick-up before we can come home again. So it will be a long day. No sewing here. If we have time on the way home, we'll drop my quilts off at the County Fair. If we don't, we'll do it tomorrow.

Have a great day!
