My LAQ is moving!

Post by CaroleJ »

I am so sad! My LAQ, also a former co-worker and all-around wonderful lady, is moving away! They are heading for Texas from southern California...whaaah!

Guess this means I will have to learn to machine quilt after all. Lord help me...!

Sorry, Linda, I wasn't very clear...the LAQ isn't from a shop, she is a longarm quilter with a home-based business. Thank goodness Texas seems to be a very quilty place; I hope she will be able to successfully set up shop out there...but I will miss her...

One other thought: those photos of the wholecloth quilt, quilted entirely on a regular Bernina, were really inspiring. I mean, if someone can do THAT, I really need to suck it up and try to learn to do this myself--!

I have my Summer Porch quilt top here; it's a prime candidate! I do think I will do some of the exercises in the Machine Quilting Primer first, for more practice, and I will need to buy a walking foot for ol' Sadie, and should get one for Flossie as well, while I am at it.

So much to learn, so little time!

QIAD has a very good dvd on machine quilting. The lady in the dvd make it look easy, she's a good teacher. Sorry your long arm quilter is moving.

Carole, I have been working with a long arm quilter for 6 years and have never met her. I just send them down and we chat about what I want on them. Usally I save up a few tops and send them down together to cut down on the shipping cost. It has worked fine, and when the box comes back from her it is like Christmas. Hope this helps.
