Does anyone use a Handi Quilter or Gammill Premier?
After seeing them at the Nashville quilt show I am really tempted. If you use one I would love to hear from you. I also took a hard look at the Gammill Premier. Any feedback would be great.

No to the HQ and yes on the Gammill, if those are your only choices. Are you in the machine specific Yahoo groups?
We used HQ16s and HQ frames in the longarm class at the show last week. I think everyone but a couple of students hated the HQ. I'm glad I skipped the HQ and went with the Voyager 17. The Gammill is a great system according to most people, but make sure you can get it serviced without shipping it. Amie

Your local sewing guy should be able to service a Gammill but their help line is so terrific you probably won't need one. from my experience most of the husbands help do the 'repairs' ...I have the Gammill Classic Plus but I quilt for customers. A friend of mine has the HQ16 but prefers the way the Gammill 'feels', but she didn't want to spend the money for a Gammill.

Re: Does anyone use a Handi Quilter or Gammill Premier?
Thanks for the feedback. I was really conflicted because I have no intention of doing quilts for others or starting a business (I have a full time job that keeps me very busy) so this is nothing more than a toy:)for my own personal pleasure. I have no idea if I will end up liking the quilting part, maybe I'm just a piecer. And I really did like the feel of the Gammill but it wasn't as portable as the Handi Quilter can be and it's definitely more money. So I bought the Handiquilter and the UPS man arrives Tuesday! I look forward to sharing my experiences. Keeping my fingers crossed.

You will do great with the HQ.....sometimes I wish I only got to do my quilts!
Just remember to practice x3 b4 you start on a real quilt.

My DH reports that UPS has delivered my HQ16:) I'm thinking of how I can slip out of work unnoticed!

My friend loves her HQ16...has had to learn and practice. Type of thread used makes a huge difference in the quilting also. I am sure the Gammill is a good buy and good long arm machine...both will get my consideration if I ever buy one. Thanks for sharing.
