T-shirt Memory Quilts
I need help. My brother in-law asked me to make a memory quilt from my nieces old soccer cotton t-shirts and soccer polyester jerseys. Can these two different types of fabric be used together in making a memory quilt or should they be kept separated as two different quilts? I know that they both will require interfacing in order to stabilize the fabric. I have been looking on-line to see if others have mixed these fabrics but I have been unable to find any quilts with both of these fabrics being used on the same quilt or what the rule of thumb is when it comes to fabric. Help...not sure what to do.

I think the fabrics have all been washed and with stabilization they will work together just fine. I would probably mix my grandson's soccer jerseys and t-shirts. Good luck to you! Hope to see a photo!

I agree with FarmChick, stabilizing with a lightweight fusible interfacing will work. I have done this in the past for small projects and they came out fine. One suggestion though...don't hand quilt. Use a machine or tie it.
Good luck!

I have done just what you want to do when my dear Father-In -Law passed. Lightweight fusible interfacing on all the shirts.

I reviewed my old video quilt tapings yes I still use video machine, and saw think was Sewing with nancy, where you can use anything for quilting even your sheer scarf fabric as long as use stabilizer, and other a wider stitch due to fraying. My guess is you could..
