Lower quaility fabric

Post by LindyLou4U »

Hi!
REcently sorting out my stash I have come upon much "lower quality", lower thread count "thin" fabric that was given to me. Some of the patterns are very pretty and others are nice tones. I would never use these in a quilt as I feel they are lower quality and much to thin to withstand the years. I don't want to throw them out, so any suggestions as to how they could be used??
Thank you!

can they be donated to the 4-H, or made into charity quilts?
or can they be donated to a school who needs a craft project?

When I have had to use them because I couldn't find anything else that would work for me, I iron on a very light weight interfacing before I cut the pieces.

You could make small projects..grocery bags (most are double fabric), pin cushions, etc. or wall hangings that don't often get washed.

My quilt guild has a auction every year and the money goes to our guild I always donate unwanted fabric to them someone always wants it. Then I help the guild out too.

Many local guilds and even quilt shops have charitable projects going on all the time and they need fabric.

How about pillowcases? They usually have a shorter life than quilts, and they would be soft with your fabric.

You could save them to test new blocks, techniques or thread & stitch combinations.
