Leftover Novelties

Post by DeniAZ »

I've made several small quilts using novelty fabrics over the years and find myself at a loss to know what to do with the leftover fabric! I have anywhere from small scraps to 1/4 yard or more. A lot of baby fabric, bright kid prints, and some more grown up designs.

Any suggestions on a way to use these? They don't want to play nice with my other stash fabrics.

I had a similar problem and used most of my scaps up in tumbler quilts. I had tons of medical scraps given to me along with scraps I had accumulated making kid quilts. I used Wright's Easy Dresden tool to cut the tumblers and just kept putting them together until it was approximately 36" x 45", sandwiched them and machine quilted them. I think this works because you reverse the tool as you cut so it doesn't matter which direction the print goes. I think you can get free instructions for the tool on www.ezquilt.com. LOL Joyce

Miram made Myles a wonderful I spy quilt for frabic squares that many members here donated (plus fabrics she bought herself) it is wonderful and everyone that sees it just loves it. She might be the person to ask about something from scraps.

My vote goes to the I Spy quilt! You could use squares that are the same size or even use different sizes.
