I just finished my first real quilt top. I really like it and would like suggestions as to what type of quilting to do. I don't think I want to stitch in the ditch. I think I would like something more "quilty".
Please offer any and all.
Thanks, Karen

Maybe if you post a picture, our "FM" quilting Ladies will have a better idea as to how to suggest something.
Have Fun,

Free Motion. Means doesn't follow a pattern when quilting.

Congratulations on finishing your first quilt top!! That's an impressive feat!
I agree with the others - a photo will give a better idea of how to quilt it. Will you be doing it yourself? On your sewing machine, or a mid or long arm?
Looking forward to seeing it!

Congrads are in order for finishing. Great. The stiptuling or free motion is really easy, and looks so grand, like you really know what you are doing. Practice first, if you can on materials that are similar to the quilt. Good luck, and post when finished.

Free motion is fun. It does take some practice. Also, I find if you use wool batting it is easier to "scrunch" the quilt around your sewing area. There are many good books about free motion quilting. Enjoy!

Are you going to machine quilt your new top? I like to use stencils. I have never learned free motion but usually I have or can get a stencile that will create the effect I want. Years ago a bought a large grid stencil that I use a lot. It would help to see a photo of your quilt.
