I have what I think is a good idea but need some help with it. I am making one of my husband's neices a quilt. Her dad passed away last fall. I want to take one of his shirts and make either the label or just sew a patch on the back from his shirt. Eventually, I will be making 3 more quilts with this square of material. Any ideas?? I have not seen the shirt yet. So, I don't know what color it is. I also thought of doing a label with it.

Re: Need advice
Maybe make the label a pocket and inside place some family history about her Dad. You could even place a button and buttonhole on the pocket label to hold the note inside. Use a shirt pocket as a template
Good luck

using the pocket is a great idea! Or part of the buttoned placket. When unbuttoned, there could be a message, poem, or even something written by her dad. Or a photo. Done on computer fabric sheets. Enjoy your project. maryz

Those are such original and fantastic ideas. I hope to hear what you decide to do on the quilt.
