The free pattern here for El's Crackerjack block says to square them all up later but it doesn't say to what size. Anyone know?

I just looked in my "Still Strippin" book and it says it would be 8 inches finished 8 1/2 unfinished.

Boy, I can't figure this out. Mine turned out bigger. If I square so I have that quarter inch away from the intersections ...mine turn out 9 inches unfinished. I guess I will make another one tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for looking it up for me Oasis.

I just checked the pattern in the book against the free pattern and the sizes are all the same. Not sure what happened. Isn't it a fun block to make?
