Does anyone know how to do a quilt for a shower curtain? A friend of mine bought one and is it cute and I would love to make one. I have everything pretty much primitive country.
Thanks
Kathy

Re: shower curtain pattern
What a creative idea! I would go ahead and buy a liner and make the curtain a little larger. Put grommets in the top, take measurements from the liner. I would use a poly batt so it won't mildew and cotton for the backing. Sounds fun and a great way to burn through stash. Amie

Re: shower curtain pattern
I have never made one but have seen some before. I believe the top is put together with the backing fabric without any batting inbetween or just a very lightweight interfacing for stability.
I think I would layer my top, interfacing and backing and then quilt it to hold layers together. You could add a wide binding on the top edge and just make button holes or add gromets(sp?) for the shower curtain rings. I would make the width of the shower curtain 1 1/2 or 2 times the size of where you want it to hang. Also use a waterproof liner behind it.
I hope this helps.

I've thought about doing this, too..... if you didn't use batting, couldn't you just make button holes for the top instead of grommets... if you don't have the tool to add the grommets... PS - I don't know how to spell grommets either!

Re: shower curtain pattern
I made a shower curtain (and use a liner on the inside). I just made it like a quilt top, used a backing that is a backing for curtains, sewed top and sides, added reinforced button holes at the top for the rings, and on the bottom I did like a coat hem with the backing fabric and curtain front all turned in so it hangs nicely. I did the measurements by looking up shower curtains online and used those dimensions.

Use two rods, one for the cloth curtain and one for the liner. I use two liners on one rod, so there is an opening in the middle, much easier than trying to move the whole liner from one end to the other and it looks great.

I don't know about putting batting in a shower curtain...might take too long to dry out. Mildew is a big problem around here with no window in the bathroom.
The Yellow Brick Road would make a REAL cute shower curtain...
Just a thought,

Re: shower curtain pattern
Thank you for the ideas, I never thought of just making a quilt top and lining it.

The button idea is really something to remember. Much easier than grommets. And more decorative also.
