Hi Sandy, if you call any of the shops around you, they will have a list of LA'mers. There are a few listed on ebay, too, but I'm don't know any of them. I have a frame but I'm a huge slowpoke, would probably take me a year, lol! Having anything LA quilted is pricey, not real economical for a charity quilt. I paid .015 per square inch for a loose meader and .035 for custom. So, about $215 for a lap size custom. I paid $90 for a panto design for a 60x60. Having a friend quilt it or just doing it yourself would be better. Amie

Wow ... $215 for a lap top custon? I didn't know it was that expensive. I was thinking about having some of mine done, but I think I'll try hand quilting now.

Here's some of the stuff I have in my stash that I got from Coltilde to help me with it.

Continuous Line Patterns - Borders And Corners
Continuous Line Patterns - Collection One
Stipples Made Easy - Roses
Stipples Made Easy - Leaves & Loops
Borders Made Easy 1 1/4"
Borders Made Easy-4" & 6 1/2"

Most of these just stick to your quilt top and you sew along the lines.

I definatly think you should do it yourself, since it's a charity quilt.....unless someone will do it for you at a reduced price because it's a charity thing. Why don't you just FM it? It's really easy and we'll help you. Amie

Custom quilting is usually very expensive. Simply because it is custom to fit your quilt. Pantographs are usually less expensive but will still run you between 1 & 2 cents per square inch. It just depends on what you want & what you can afford to pay for.

Sandy, I just had another thought. Tie them! I think tied quilts have a soft vintage feel to them. And, anyone can do it, Amie

wow $215 for a lap quilt!!!!!

The long arm quilter who did my musical note one charged $75 and my H just dropped off a queen size for me and it isn't going to be a custom (it is a tossed 9 pattern) and will be $101 including the batting.
