Good morning,

Well I think it's allergy season coming into play I have been sneezing and blowing my nose.
Yesterday I decided not to clean but to sew instead as far as I'm concerned it can get cleaned after the quilt top is finished .
Also there was a hiccup with the bus in which I straightened out so everything is good.
Today is another sew day .
Dinner will be turkey breast in the oven with white rice and a vegetable.
Well that's my day I hope you all have a great one.
Prayers to all.

Good chilly morning, We should hit 39 -40 today. I think the ground hog was wrong...we may have an early spring. We can only hope.
I will clean 2 bathrooms today and sew the rest of the day. That is my plan. I have been getting side tracked and I really need to get these blocks stitched and the grad quilt put together,,,It wont be warm enough today to go outside,,,I cannot do much yard work but I can walk around and make a list of what I need done...
Supper today will be up in the air, I will look in the freezer and see what I can cook...perhaps a chicken pot pie.
Hope you all have a quiet day,,,No word on the funeral plans for our old friend. my niece is still in the hospital and being evaluated for a liver transplant...it changes day to day with insurance and hospital policies, everything is about policies...not what the patients actually need,,,,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Morning
Yesterday I got almost everything done. My tulips are weeded, but today I need to add more bricks to their enclosure , about 8 only to move, then move a wheel barrow of mulch. Tulips are already popping up thru the ground. Then I will hit sewing room to add belt loops to prairie skirts I made last year. Sometime today Sweet Jesus needs a bath.
Judi my knees are achy but they have been all my life. I do need a kneeled pad though. My back was sore over weekend but that's what heating pads are for.

Good morning,

I didn't wake up until a little after 5. In this house, that's oversleeping. Usually it's Scottie barking but this morning even Foxy was meowing at me - "Get up and feed us!!" was the message.

FLO - We got our yard chores done yesterday, too. Everything on the list. Fertilized Roses, Rhodies, lilacs, Iris, Hydrangeas, forsythia, daisies, and peonies, plus all the small flowers like candy tuft, rock cress, crocosmia & periwinkle. Our daffodils are almost done, hyacinths and violets are in bloom, and tulips will be opening up soon. The blackberries are on their own! It's a very early spring for us.

JANA - I looked up your Babylock Air threading serger. What a nice machine! But a little spendy. I'm still thinking. My Bernie 480B does have an overlock stitch so I went and practiced with it a bit. I only use my serger once or twice a year so I could probably live without it. Or maybe I should just get my current serger cleaned and repaired and threaded with gray thread so I don't have to keep switching from white to black. . . . threading it is a beast. I do tie on the ends of old and new cones and pull the threads though, but sometimes that doesn't work. Do you use your serger a lot? Our weatherfolk have been talking meteorological spring, too. And all the plants listened!

JUDI - I didn't kneel once yesterday doing yard work, but then I didn't weed either. But I do use foam pads to kneel on. I've always had touchy knees when kneeling. I also have one of those gadgets that you can kneel on or turn it over and it's a padded stool. The cool thing is when you're kneeling, since it's also a stool you have it to help pull yourself up! Which I need now. We have a neighbor who has about 8 stock tanks and they plant veggies and flowers in them. No kneeling! I guess we're going to have to get stern with you to keep your needle to cloth if you're going to keep letting house uglies and errands and DH distract you! We're here to help! Is your niece still in ICU? Will try to "pray her out" to a regular room at least.

LOIS - I hope you got the bus straightened out in time for your Bill to get to his appt. Is he up to 3 hour appts now? Does he read? Where is his port? Can he do things with both hands? Maybe it's time to teach him to knit or crochet. (don't tell him it was my idea!) Lots of men do, you know. Something to pass the time.

MARY Q - my dad also had some of the Time Life books. The old West, and WWII, I think. My nephew took them. Whew. I gave most of them to Daddy for birthdays, etc. so I wasn't going to let them go to Goodwill, but I didn't really want to give them shelf space either. I think panels look pretty cool when they are cut into equal pieces, and then put back together with an attic window sashing. I've done that a few times with Christmas or winter scenes. Kind of cool. I would much rather use a serger than make french seams, but probably not if I have to pay $2,000 for the serger. But a girl can dream! Oh, hey!! Did you send your old friend, Greg, a message??? Get together for coffee? glass of wine?

CHRISS - how did yesterday go for you? When will you get your MRI results? Is this Elliott day?

So, yesterday was chiropractor. My left hip (new hip is right) was seriously "out" which was nagging all down my leg to my foot. So he fixed that. Then I was sore all afternoon and evening. Flo mentioned heating pads. And I have two - upstairs and downstairs and use them most days. But we managed to get all the yard chores done - and Bill even helped! That doesn't happen very often. The weather was so beautiful that by 2pm we got a couple of plastic chairs, poured ourselves each a glass of chardonnay, and sat out on the deck for an hour talking and watching the birds at the feeder. The fur folk were a little confused since there were no soft cushions or rugs for them to lay on. But those don't come out until about April. The rains return today, but that's OK. We had a taste of spring and we can coast for a bit on that. We have another camping trip planned Mar 13-16 so I'm pretty sure the rains will continue until St Patrick's Day.

Bill has requested mac & cheese for supper tonite. So that will be easy.

That's all, Folks! I guess it's time to fetch another cup of coffee and hit the shower.

March is known for ups and downs. Spring will return soon. We had 2 inches of snow yesterday and last night a bit icy walking with 98 pound chocolate lab grand dog. DD did well. Tonight should be 47 and by Saturday upper 70’s and in 60’s at night, about 10 nights above freezing. Things going well, may get more hand embroidery done tonight. Tried making Mediterranean olive bread yesterday came out well. Not much else going on just being DD right hand man. Chicken rice and salad tonight.
Prayers to all in need.
Hugs

Good Morning Girls

Happy Tuesday! Not much in the way of sunshine here this morning, hope it improves during the day. We are in the ugly season here now... no snow, just brown grass with occasional piles of snow from plowing. Not that I'm wishing for snow to make it pretty again, but I'm really looking forward to green grass and leaves on the trees again.

Lois... You are so right, the house can get cleaned any old time, sewing is more important! What's the saying? " A messy house is the sign of a creative mind" I prefer to be know for my creative mind than a spotless house! That being said, my vacuum is sitting in my living room as a reminder that I need to do that today!. Most other chores will wait until Saturday!

Judi... When you go walk about your yard, does it get over whelming everything that needs to be done? Do you and Ken do most of the work? That's sure one thing I don't miss about my house and yard---the outside work. I did love to mow the lawn with my tractor, it was great thinking and praying time, but weed whacking and trimming shrubs on an acre lot just got to be too much. Maybe Liam and Nolan can come help once school is out.

Flo..... I suppose with all that yard work you haven't had much time in the sewing room! Another bonus to not have to do yard work, I can sew all day! But then I miss out on the fresh berries and veggies in the garden.

Maryz.... French seams aren't so bad, just way more time consuming! I'm going to mail Greg an old fashioned snail mail letter. He's in Iowa--a little north and east of Des Moines, so meeting for coffee/wine isn't very likely. He does have a daughter, about the same age as my kids and she may live in MN somewhere, but I have no idea. It will be interesting for sure. I'm enclosing a copy of our wedding picture to jog his memory! We shall see!! That's another one of my little kits---is a panel to make an Attic Window out of! It's a beach scene, I may have showed you. But, I'm still in limbo and hoping to get my machine back on Thursday and then I need to start sister's quilt so I can take that with me when I go to Viv's in April so we can quilt it while I'm there. Glad the chiro got your hip back in where it belongs!!

Tinab... Yup same up here... March is the Ups and Downs!! Once in a while we have a whole month without one flake of snow... then again get socked in with a storm of measuring it in feet rather than inches!!! I'm hoping for a quiet month. A 98 pounds Lab? Oh my gosh he must be huge!! But if you ask me, labs are the best!! I'd have one, but rules at the townhouse, dogs have to be under 35lb! That leaves labs out!!

Chriss... Happy Elliott day!!! What are you going to teach him today? What does a snake say? What does a squirrel say? Any news on the MRI report? or will that take a few days?

Lori... Hope all is going well in your kitchen.

Jana... from the sounds of it.. I might have to go back to college to learn how to use a serger!! Upper loopers and lower loops! I'm confused already!

Yesterday I think I got about 14 pairs of fleece mittens cut out and might on getting them sewn together today, we shall see. It's supposed to warm up to 52* this afternoon, so I might spend some time in the garage and do a little recon and see what's out there. I have stuff that I brought in the house that can go back out. And must be careful not to drag any more IN. I am however getting sort of early organized for quilt retreat the end of April. I guess most gals bring a few different projects to work on, so I'm going to decide which projects I want to bring. I'm sure I'll change my mind a few times! Also, which sewing machine do I want to bring? Just my feather weight? Or the FW and My Brother that has decorative stitches? What a dilemma! I just might have to take both!!

For now, as usual I need more coffee and need to get to the shine up in the kitchen. I didn't cook supper last night--cheated and went to Jersey's Mikes for a sandwich!, so there's not a lot to clean up!

Prayers all around!

Good soggy morning!

Dreary and dark, and a bit chilly here. It may snow on me, just a tiny bit.

Remember, with classes and retreats, what ever you take in, you must drag back out at the end of the day!

I've been up awhile, vacuuming, the lazy way, my robot is running, and got Mr G fed. Now it's time for a devotional talk we do each morning. I have a few things to tidy up, and then it's playtime.

Normally Crenda is here helping me with uglies, but today she's up at primary children's hospital, with Tanner. He's been having some major problems. He's the on with Juvenile arthritis and on Humira. Well, he's passed out, lost sight, temporarily, and severe headaches. Several different times. Last week, a cardiologist did all kinds of heart tests.. his heart is totally fine, so now a neurologist and a cardiologist is meeting them at Primary Children's emergency room.. Tanner has been put no extra physical movement until they figure what's going on. Awhile back, Tanner received a bad concussion, so that is the leading culprit, a traumatic brain injury. We'll know more today..

A quick Cliff Notes version of a serger workings - A serger has 4 needles that work in concert together to create the overlock stitch, and trim the fabric, all at the same time. The lower loopers - needles, act like a pair of knitting needles, going back and forth, sideways. The upper loopers, are two needles, that go up and down, just like a regular sewing machine, and catch the loop of thread from the bottom loopers, which are like the bobbin. Sergers are tempermental. Timing is everything! And never, ever us a pin to hold fabric together. Pins will destroy the Timing. It's like patting your head and rubbing your stomach at the same time. Sergers are a wonderful machine. I use mine often. Rolled hems on napkins, and clean finishing seams of clothes, even doll clothes.

Well, time to scoot,
Hugs,
Jana

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday, DH and I signed for our taxes to be submitted to IRS. All done with that chore this year. Then we took wedding ring set to be resized. I realized that if I needed to take off my rings in an emergency room, I wouldn't be able to do so. We also stopped at Costco and DH got another pair of glasses and I had mine readjusted. My glasses feel so much better!

Today I needed to catch up on my Guild paperwork. I am serving as Membership Co-Chair, and I keep the Membership List up to date. We had 8 new members this month. Our term ends in June. Elections will be in May and I must decide what I wish to do next.

I have cut up scraps of fabric into 2-1/2, 3-1/2, 5" and 6-1/2" pieces. Now I am making a quilt using Scrappiness is Happiness by Lori Holt. It is a cut flower quilt block. Mine are still in the block stages. I also basted a quilt by pinning yesterday so will start quilting tomorrow.

There is chicken thawing for dinner, however I need to go to grocery store so think I will do so now. Board meeting is tonight.

Carol, which quilt are you making? I found a whole book of Scrappiness is Happieness.

Maryq, you are making up for my lack of sewing.

Tina, sounds like your weather is up and down like our. It's been a strange winter here.

Maryz, woohoo...sleeping in is always nice until the fur kids want to eat. I bought a Baby Lock serger for $300 a few years back. It's their basic model. I would rather do French seams. I think they look nicer and don't take all that long. Bummer that your other hip is giving you issues now.

The demoed the kitchen yesterday. If everything goes well, which it's not, we should be done by the 20th. We're expecting it to be longer. Nothing ever goes as planned with construction. I spent most of the day up the street with the boys. Wrigley doesn't like loud noises, so when thing are going on they go up the street with mamma. I did get contact paper out of one cabinet. It had 3 layers. I'll be working on the cabinets while I'm up there. And with the weather being nice I might work in the yard a bit.

Have a lovely evening.
