Good morning,

Happy Sunday! Happy March!

Chriss, Oral health is important for all body health, but especially cardiac. The moral of this story is to keep your teeth in good shape! I even had to have a clean bill of dental health sent to my surgeon before I could get my hip replacement. I'm glad Dad is able to fix your mower. The man does love a project, doesn't he! Praying for good results on your MRI. Is it today or tomorrow?

Lori, you are really hot considering it's still technically winter! Hope you cool off. I said I remodeled in '89, but we've done floors, counters, and appliances a few times since then. It's nice to have that back up house (and fridge!) up the street!

LYN - sorry about the forest animals fabric. The blue bonnet panel sounds beautiful. I love those bluebonnet fabrics! Have you ever been to the Cotton Cupboard in Lakeway? It's on Storm Dr off 620. They have my name on file! Only a mile or two south of our RV park. It's heart rending for you and Garry to be in this situation. I think of you often and say a little prayer.

JANA - glad you finally got your smoocher on that hairy little guy! None of my babies had real hair - just fuzz. Our dishwasher is very quiet, too. A Bosch. I have to look at the lights on it to be sure it's running.

JUDI - how is your niece doing? She has a lot going on. Sorry your day - and Ken's, too - turned out not as planned. I was in Michael's yesterday and not much St. Pat's stuff there, either. Maybe there was a few weeks ago, but it's all Easter now.

MQ - I don't have very many specialty rulers, but I do have lots of squares and rectangles. I have both sizes Sew Wonderful, two different sets of DWR, all of QIAD's geese, a large setting triangle, and some circles. That's about it. Oh, and a 2" hexie template that YOU gave me!

LOIS - We have some little Marie Calendar's chix pot pies in the freezer. But I'm not too crazy about those. I much prefer my homemade - then I know what's going into it .

FLO - smart thinking - do your planting and then let Mom Nature do the watering.

No yard work yesterday after all. With the breeze, the feels-like temp wasn't up to my yard working standards. Maybe today or tomorrow. I saw my first robin a week ago. Though some winters they stick around all winter. I've looked up why geese honk. A navigational aide, helps hold formation on long flights, helps train younger geese, alert system, and more. We've had an exceptionally mild winter here. We always have a daffodil festival and parade and this year it's supposed to be April 19th - but daffodils are in full bloom now. If they want the daffs in the parade they are going to have to move up the date!

I finished Drew's Japanese Lantern wall hanging. It measures 10x25. We went shopping for frames. There are none even close to that size. I could enlarge it with a small border but still no frames. So I'm going to keep it a small quilt and bind it today. I also made a pair of pillowcases for friends, using WSU fabrics. They will be a hostess gift next time our supper club meets at their house.

Big news story here that has made some national outlets - a 32 yr old man who practiced black magic went off his meds and stabbed his mom to death as well as 3 neighbors who were trying to help. When Law Enforcement got the call they were already on their way to the house to serve a protection order. The Deputy had to shoot the guy. That took place about 6 miles from our house, but right outside the small neighborhood where I used to live. These kinds of crimes have increased since they've closed so many mental health places in our state. :(

As for sewing - I don't really want to start any brand new projects while I still have a set of swap blocks and one of lotto blocks to assemble. So, one of those might be on my sewing agenda. There are four quilts in the quilting queue and so far none of them seem to be moving. If I mention them, they will be there even longer! One is a baby quilt for my walking buddy's first grandbaby, due March 19 so I may have to give my quilter a gentle nudge. They others have no deadline.

Not sure what is on today's agenda. I'm going to put a pot roast into the crockpot. If weather holds, I'll get to those roses. But tomorrow is supposed to be warmer . .

Have a blessed Sunday

Overcast, 69° and breezy.

MaryZ, Sorry to tell you, the Cotton Cupboard closed in 2024.

As for chicken pot pies, I had a Marie Callendar in the freezer and ate that a few days ago. I won't be buying any more, it was all crust and very little inside. My Ninja foodi has a good chicken pot pie recipe. I will make that from now on and freeze some for later meals.

Chriss, Give your Dad a hug from me, please. He reminds me of my Dad and how he helped me out when I was single before Garry came along.

Yesterday when I got home from seeing Garry, Minnie and I went for a ride and checked out two plant nurseries. I have some brushes in the backyard that I needed info about. I have a Crepe Myrtle, 2 Red Tips and one they couldn't tell by my photos. I will be pruning the Crepe Myrtle, which the lady said, some people call Crepe murder. Some people think they should never be trimmed. The Red Tips are pretty and have leaves year round but the people that built this house planted them a foot from the porch. I have trimmed them a couple times but they are now above the rain gutters and rubbing on the house. The people told me that they can cause problems with the concrete porch. Trying to transplant is real iffy. I will be digging them out and if it looks like I get enough roots, I may try sticking in a hole farther back in the yard. I plan to work on that when I get home this afternoon.

Hope y'all have a good day.

good Morning, it is cold again today....but warm weather is coming,,,we were supposed to get snow but in our little micro climate ( always different that everyone else) we just have 20s here,
I was going to get here earlier and Ken and my son wanted pancakes so off to the kitchen I went. got bacon on the oven and made very good pancakes from scratch...all that was cleaned up and then are you ready?????,,,, We started spring cleaning my bedroom...Ken moved the bed with the help of "Moving men " pads I bought, Cleaned all that up and got to the family living under my bed,,and dusted all the baseboards, we discussed redoing the bedroom but we have no place to sleep during construction...All the walls and paneling need to be replaced,,,and redone. electrical needs to be redone a window shelf that is useless needs to be removed, then the carpeting needs to be removed and a new floor put down...I would like hard wood wide plank. The only hold up is wherer would we sleep/ One solution is to buy a sofa bed for the office and sleep in there but they are notoriously uncomfrtable and we are old. so we sit and ponder....( we should have done this when we had a camper) I got Ken to clean out some stuff in the main closet and filled a trash bag...He would not like me to do it when he was in work tomorrow and I said i would...So he was able to devest himself of 5 belts he no llinger can wear and a box of stuff yes just useless stuff...I found 2 cookie tins on the self empty so I will get rid of them. and a box of Cpap supplies he swore he didnt have, and there is still a box of old ties he had when he worked in the office and wore white shirts and ties every day... Then they went casual nd the ties went on a box...I will see if I can donate them...he has several ties that go with his dress shirts for special occasions and that is all we really need.
Well that is a big job and still not done...I will finish in a few...then decide supper...Im pretty sure it will be chicken parm...with angel hair pasta...and a salad...Ill see if there is any garlic bread in the freezer and call it good.
Im off to finish the bedroom...Hope you have some sort of adventure today in your house...XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good Morning Girls

Tis a sunny bright day here, but for March... it's still pretty dang cold!! Alexa was a little off her game yesterday as she told me we were going to get up to 3" of snow! We never got a flake!!

Maryz....You decided to keep Drew's gift a little quilt? He could possibly still make a wall hanging out it... just not framed. If you put little triangles in the upper corners, he could attach a little dowel there to hang it. That's how I hang all the Christmas wall hangings I've made around here. I did see some geese flying north the other day, I took that as a good sign that spring is on the way. We have a pond in development they like to land on. And a few times a whole group of them wandered around my parking lot--they are fun to watch but sure do make a poopy mess.

Lois,,, Oh dang, that reminds me, I have to call my accountant tomorrow. She usually mails me a whole packet of info and forms to fill out to do my taxes and I haven't gotten it yet. Every year I cross my fingers and hope I don't have to pay in! I'm usually ok with the Feds, but Minnesota likes to suck a pint of blood out of me for taxes. Does NJ have state income tax?

Lyn.... Now y'all are making me hungry for chicken pot pie! I have to say tho, that I kind of cheat and use Pillsbury baking powder biscuits and just pour the chicken "sauce" over the top. Hmm I do have some in house (found them in a bag in frozen section, so I don't have to bake a whole roll) and I have chicken! Sounds like you will have a busy spring with all the planting and pruning. Sounds funny to hear, as we are still likely to get snow up here!

Chriss.... I so get a kick out of your dad... You must tell him how much we love him too! In so many ways he sounds like my Dad--tho my dad wouldn't tackle fixing a lawn mower--he was a HUGE history buff and could give you " a little known fact" at the drop of a hat. Do you still see the folks that bought your Grandmother's place? Not sure why I was thinking about that the other, just remembering their little boys.

Lori... .So excited for you to get a whole new kitchen!! What fun!!! Are you taking before and after pictures? You know we'd love to see!! When I was in California, in San Diego (on our honeymoon in 1973) I thought it the strangest thing that washers and dryers were in the garage! You'll never see that in Minnesota for sure!!

Judi... Sorry your "Judi day" turned into a "Ken and Judi Day" . Kind of bummer when you have all sorts of good plans for a day on your own and it gets changed without your knowledge or permission! That's one thing about transplants.... they are pretty fussy about who they give a new organ to! Will keep your niece in prayers. Oh My Gosh.... were you going to get your period when you got so ambitious to clean? (Every once in a while, just before "that time" I would get super into cleaning---hasn't happen since my hyster.   ) Sounds like you'd have quite a project to re-do your bedroom, but wouldn't it be great when it was all done. Could you make a little bedroom space in the basement?

Here's a really "left field" question for you. Have any of you ever heard of #1. Iowa Star Quilts? It's a quilt shop in Traer, Iowa. not sure if it's brick/mortar any more or just online. #2. Cynthia Stary Drajna... Apparently she has written a couple quilt pattern books. Do you ever have somebody from your distant past pop into your head and you wonder "where are they now". I suppose because last week was my wedding anniversary (53yrs) that I thought of the guy that was our best man, Greg. So I found him on Facebook and browsed through his page. I had heard that he was married to Cynthia---we all hung out back in the early 70's--college days. Cynthi, as she was called (not CINDY) owned the quilt shop---and I'd heard about that several years ago. Apparently, Cynthi passed away about 3 years ago, but I could find no obit online. I found a mailing address and am debating about contacting Greg. He and my Ex were great friends from High School. Thoughts? Should I contact him?

Laundry is started, time to throw in another load and then get busy. If there is a plan for the day I have no idea what it is. As always there are several directions I could go and one would include cleaning up a mess from yesterday! I'm so excited about the quilt retreat I'm going with Viv the end of April, that I'm getting kits ready to go to take along!

Off I go, did somebody say "Coffee".....
Wishing you all the very best today!

Good morning. It's going to be a beautiful day today. Kind of cloudy which makes outside very inviting. We should see the low to mid 60's for the rest of the week. Perfect outside weather.

I really thought yesterday was Sunday. But nope, it wasn't. So now I have one extra day in my weekend. Woo Hoo, I'm ahead of myself.

Yesterday I cleaned most of the garage. Swept it, relocated piles of things, organized. I have one wall to go. The workbench and tool area, also known as dad's playground, is a disaster. Today I want to get it organized and figure out what I want to do with the excess. There is a lot of excess. I still have my list of things to do and want to work on it a bit more too.

Next week is busy. Monday MRI and clean dad's house. Tuesday is Elliott day. The rest of the week is helping with the Hornitos enchilada feed. I love working the enchilada feed.

Lori, I also wonder how I have so much stuff. I think it multiplies while we sleep. I think it's great that your dad's house is just up the street instead of miles away.

Judi, I haven't been thrilled with Hobby Lobby lately either. Our smaller sized store even has limited fabric. I have left that store more than once empty handed.

Jana, thanks for adding my smooch to that precious little guy. Glad you finally got your mitts on him.

Maryz, they've closed too mental health facilities in Cali too. I'm also going to put a roast in the crock pot for dinner.

Lois, I have my tax paperwork in a pile all ready for me to enter into turbo tax. I will get it done soon.

Lyn, dad's really are the best. I will happily add a hug from you. I googled Red Tip, they are really nice looking, hope they replant (if they need to be) easily. I also haven't been a fan of MC pot pies lately. I gave her two chances but am so done with her.

Judi, I would also love new flooring. The debate for me is carpet or something else? Dad has linoleum in his living room that looks like hardwood. It cleans up so nicely. You could get a blow up mattress. They come in sizes not so close to the ground and inflate by plugging them in. Surprisingly they aren't very expensive. I got one on Amazon and it was bright green, but once the sheets are on them you don't see the color. Hope you find a treasure at the bottom of that closet.

Maryq, my dad also loves history. When he was a fire fighter he worked at an auto repair shop on his days off. He used to drag race and had a 57 chevy race car. I do see the kids who bought grandma's house but mostly in passing. They have 3 boys and are always busy doing sports things. I laughed when you said a Ken and Judi day. I thought of Lucy and Desi.

We are supposed to make a mini quilt depicting the nations 250th for my quilt group to display. I was hoping to find a panel with the pledge of allegiance, or the star spangled banner or something that I could do something with. Perhaps I will do some quilt shopping Monday afternoon. Nothing I order would get here on time.

Gotta go put that roast in the oven and have some breakfast. You all have a super day.

Good afternoon!

Home from church and survived a hymn, that I would call, above my pay grade, to conduct. But I did 8t and succeeded, too. The time was odd and even Sarah and I had a disagreement in how to do it.

Ethan came to help weed yesterday, but somehow, the string to the weed whacked is missing and my hoes are too! So that didn't get done and many of the daffodils and tulips have poked up.

I had a red crepe myrtle at my house in California. I loved it! It was a tree and never needed anything but a drink of water. Wish I could have one here, too cold. The other tree I really like is a Jacaranda. Saw them in San Diego. Again, too cold here.

It was so fun to snuggle little one. Kate can now get out a little bit. Little boy's oxygen tank os small and portable. We keep him covered in the car seat, just to protect from germs.

Daniel has Matt's truck over in his workshop at Sandee's. There's a bolt that works it's way loose and can cause a huge problem. So Daniel will work his way into the engine and fix it.

Well, I'm off, need to make a grocery list for tomorrow. Mother Hubbard's cupboards are gettingbare!

Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Good Sunday afternoon.
So happy Jana got to meet new grandson. We can see the powers of prayers. Still praying for each and everyone. 54 here today a bit colder tomorrow and 80 by Saturday, what a roller coaster ride. Everything going well, walking four times a day on little routes with grand dog. Laundry done, home clean so will hand stitch now, have to get another cup of coffee.
Prayers and hugs,TinaB
