Good morning,
Happy Lincoln's birthday. He is my favorite president. I remember in fifth grade we had to do reports on presidents and I so wanted Lincoln, but got assigned Zachary Tayler instead. And now can't remember a thing about him except he died in office after only 16 months and was succeeded by Fillmore!
CHRISS - so now is it window day? Will Dad be there for the installation? I much prefer homemade chili, too. That way I can control what goes into it. I can also control how much I make, but I always make as much as my big crock pot will hold. It's good to smell it cooking all day. We have it one or two nights and then I freeze the leftovers in a couple Ziplocks, enough for one meal in each bag. It's really nice to have a meal ready to go for those nights I don't feel like cooking. (which is almost every night these days).
LORI - a Christmas Bear's Paw sounds like a great project! You really perked up my ears! Isn't there a pattern called Milky Way that is a Bear's Paw? I know I have that pattern in my binder but I'm too lazy to go look right now. Have you decided what you want to take to your retreat? Will your shoulder be able to handle a retreat? You get your next shot on Thursday, don't you? The 19th?
MARY Q - have you finished your baby quilt yet? Started your sister's queen? I'm guessing Viv will be quilting that one for you! As to spaghetti sauce, I buy Hunts in a can. Sometimes I can get it for $1/can on sale and I stock up. And then I doctor it up. I've tried the expensive brands and by the time I'm done doctoring, and letting it simmer for several hours in my crockpot, I can't tell the difference . And like Jana, I usually add a scant teaspoon of sugar. My secret ingredient is a pinch of cinnamon. And I do mean just a pinch. And like my chili, after a night or two, I freeze any leftovers in single meal portions. Do you have Zara? Lulu said she can tell it's shedding season because her vacuum gets so full of hair. It was embarrassing. And we do vacuum in between her visits! (at all her clients, not just us!)
JANA - have you gotten to snuggle up to that new baby yet? I learned a bit of interesting trivia about one one of those huge 6' 3", 225# Patriots players in the Super Bowl. He was a 23-week preemie and given a 1% chance of surviving.
LOIS -you remind me that our sheets need washing, too, but Bill gets up after me and usually makes the bed. And I'm not going to mess up a perfectly made bed! Or even an imperfectly made bed! How is Raindrops coming along?
JUDI - glad the boys hockey team is doing so well. Liam will miss it. I buy spaghetti sauce in a can, not a jar. And I've dropped those cans more than once! I saw today that MSQC has honeycomb embroidery kit on sale. I was wondering if this is the kit you bought a few years ago. Did you finish that?
TINA B - did you fly off to your DD's in VA? I miss your posts!
VAL - how are things going?
Yesterday, I moved around the house to stay out of Lulu's way. She even does windows! She has her routine down pat now and can do our house in 3-1/2 hours. She said if we want, she can start doing deep cleaning (spring cleaning). I like that idea. Bill thinks we should have her do the trailer, too. I trimmed dinosaurs and made binding. I have some little X-stitch patterns for dinosaurs, so I'm doing those for the label. It will take me few days and since I catch the label in the binding, the binding is going to have to wait. Bill will start quilting my baby owl quilt (photo posted) soon in a bubbles pattern. Lori's idea of a Christmas bear's paw is still rolling around in my head. Wouldn't that be pretty?
Supper tonite? We will be having ham slices, baked sweet potato, and roasted brussels sprouts. I can do it all in the oven at the same time.
Have a great Thursday!

Morning Maryz and all to follow,
Maryz on menu tonight is split pea soup.
With nice weather here I have been weeding blackberries and getting them ready to mulch. I have 100 feet of vines in my front yard.
Wish there was something more exciting going on, but quiet here.

Good morning I was up did chosrs and got dressed and hair combed, I think I will be going to Ikea today. I have been switching out all the plastic for glass and last time I was a t Ikea, they had a nice assoetment of glass storage containers, I bought a bunch but I need more...Also I am trying to use up or give away all the zip lock bags as I am using compostable bags. they breakdown in the ground in a few weeks instead of the years it takes..in the land fil..I have always tried to recycle even before it was "popular" My kids used to laugh at me ( and probably still do) for trying to be earth friendly. I have been doing this since the 70s. I buy everything I can in glass jars ( and that is why I had to clean up the mess when I dropped one) But,,,,I have always not like the metalic taste of canned things, Everyone can do what they are comfortsble doing,,,I have always like the recycling adventure,,,trying my best to reuse, and recycle. Now that they have curb side recycle...we just take out recycle can out every 2 weeks. I even used to save all the cuttings from quilting at a lady in my guild made dog pads for the shelter stuffing them with all our clippings, She has retired so sadly no one is doing that anymore..
I am asking for prayers for my cousin Kathy , 9In her 60s),,She was diagnosed with cancer ( lung and never smoked) She had it last year and never told any one, I saw her in Nov at a family party and she was talking about retirement and coming to my house to steal a quilt. ( i told her she could have one and even picked one out for her,) but she never got over to get it, She has now been sent home with hospice and is at the end of her earthly journey, She lives 2 hrs away from me so it is not easy to visit with her, Pray for her easy passage and the family left behind. have a wonderful day,,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good Morning Girls
Oh my goodness... what a beautiful day! The furnace is still running but if it hits 44* this after like Alexa says it will I just might turn it off for few minutes and open a window--just for a little while. So anxious to get some fresh air in the house. We are now in what we call the "February Thaw" Might hit 50 by Sunday... if it does, I'm headed for the garage!!
Maryz... Haven't started Annie's quilt yet, and yes I'm going to ask Viv to quilt it, so I'd like to get it done before I go down to their house the end of April. There's a quilt retreat the 24-25th the Kris signed me up for. My first ever quilt retreat! I'm going to pick up Zara later this afternoon.... have a couple errands to run so I'll grab her on my way home. The weather is supposed to be nice all weekend, so we might even go for a walk or two. Can I borrow Lulu just to do some of that "high shelf Cleaning"? Don't worry about the windows... I actually like doing windows!!
Flo... With your nice weather, your snow must be about gone, especially if you are able to get out in the garden!
Judi... I too, try to recycle as much as possible and take my own grocery bags to the store, most of the time. My biggest pet peeve is the stupid plastic bags at every store you go to!! Target, here anyway, has a paper option, but Walmart doesn't. When the kids lived in Canada, they had a compost ice cream bucket in their freeze and the city would collect compost too! It's hard to go all glass when so much comes in plastic bottles and jars these days. When I go to Jen's, they don't recycle at all!! It's so weird not to throw a pop can in a recycle bin!! Will send lots of prayers for Kathy today. May God bring her gracefully and peacefully home.
Lois... Gotta love leftovers.. Which reminds me, I have some in my fridge that I should throw in the freeze before they start to grow fur.
Lori.... That right there, the practice road trip with a Tesla, is one of the reasons I'd never buy an electric car! Besides I don't have the patience to sit and wait for a car to get charged up! I want to gas and go! $22.00 yard in Canadian $ right now is about $16. American so it's probably not too different that a LQS here. and that's actually per Meter, so you get 3 extra inches!
Chriss... Glad you had a fun day with Mr. Elliot!! Yeah for Window day!! Hope they can get it all done in one day! I was just thinking about chile yesterday. For me, it's a fall thing and it's kind of a once & done thing. I make a big batch, freeze some and when that's gone I don't make another batch.
Lyn.... You feeling any better? Hope you feel better soon as I'm sure Garry misses you.
All seven quilts are totally done! Bound and pictures posted! I think Viv still has maybe six of my quilts, but I need to send some more batting down or bring some when I go in April.
Guess I better get moving.... coffee is cold, need to run to town and then go pick up my puppy!
Hope you all have a Great Thursday!

Re: Thursday, February 12th, 2026
Good day everyone. Thursday already and Feb. almost half gone.
I was feeling much better yesterday, so
saw Garry in the afternoon. He didn't wake up much, but did know I was there. They had him out in the common area, listening to a guy that comes in and sings karaokete. I changed his hearing aid batteries. I cleaned his glasses which you couldn't see thru. There's a lady and a group of girls, that are in training, that come and yesterday were painting nails for the ladies who wanted. I talked to the instructor and expressed to her that she also teach them that the simple things like clean glasses are really important to an older person, also combing their hair. If Garry would have seen himself in a mirror, he would have said, 'I look like a pothead.' His hair was straight up.
Today I will go back to my schedule of feeding him lunch. I also need to trim his beard.
Lyn

Good morning. It's a wonderful day today. Power tools are making noises and windows are being replaced. They tell me they probably can get it done in one day. I had four done previously and now they are doing the other 12 plus the sliding door. I'm pretty dang excited.
Moose and I are staying in the room that has already been done. He isn't a fan of strangers and doesn't like the commotion. When they get to this end of the house they will be on their last two windows and Moose and I will hide out in another room.
Maryz, We have bought that one dollar a can sauce. It was Marilyn's favorite because there was nothing in it. She never liked to see any chunks or anything green. I only add ground beef and mushrooms to my jar of Raos. I used to buy the other two brands but they are so full of sugar. I don't need a Lulu, but will probably take advantage of a window washer. I don't have a lot of freezer space, My go to if I don't feel like cooking or have nothing thawed out is salad or a sandwich on Romaine.
Flo, I love berry bushes lining a fence. Jerry never wanted berries because he thought they would attract snakes. I think they would attract birds who would deter the snakes. Enjoy the quiet and remember it on the day that things are noisy.
Judi, sorry to hear about your cousin. prayers said for her and her family. Recently I changed my plastic storage containers for glass and am so happy with them. I've only done the leftover for the fridge containers. Never thought of the plastic baggies.
Lois, hope the appointment goes well. I think leftovers are the best meals to have.
Maryq, I would love to come play in your garage. It's on my someday list. I am tall and can also reach your top shelves. I have to admit, I'm pretty useful. I've never been to a quilt retreat, sounds like you will have a fun time. I love your quilts. That one you don't know the name of is my fav.
Lyn, so glad you are feeling better. I think it's wonderful that they take Garry into the common room and don't leave him in bed all day. A pot head, that's funny.
Well I am so curious to see how far along they are on the windows so I am going to check it out. Dinner tonight will be what Lois is having, refrigerator pot luck.
I pray you all have a super day
Chriss

Chriss, I am right with you with the noise of power tools. We signed the contract for exterior house paint, kitchen, and window yesterday. They were here at 730 to prep the outside of the house. Hope they get most of the window done today.
Lyn, I would have to clean my dads glasses daily. They never did it. I think maybe there were afraid they would break them. Glad to hear you are feeling better.
Maryq, wow...7 quilts.
Maryz, aren't you glad I mentions the Bears Paw. lol Yes I get another shot next Thursday the 19th.
We have workers here and need to go look at some more stone. I'll be back later.

Good afternoon!
9ne of those days here. And besides that Mr G broke a tooth. So being on blood thinners, that adds to the problem. So we're trying to solve that before the dds appointment tomorrow morning.
Cloudy and hopefully more snow.will fall. My uglies are done. I haven't met my little guy yet. Kate's mom is here and we don't want too many new stuff around him yet. So I wait, not patiently, but wait none the less. Kate's mom lives 8n St George, so will go home shortly. Then I will have him to myself! He's doing well and weaning slowly off the extra oxygen he one. A very low flow rate..
So I'm off, trying to behave,
Hugs,
Jana
