Good morning,
It's cold outside and today Bill has a dermatologist appointment 10:00.
Yesterday we did our BJ's run I saved about 15 dollars in coupons so that was good store was a little full but not to overly packed and the lines moved quickly and we were home pretty fast and I got everything we haven't been there since November.
Today after the dermatologist I plan on sewing that border was terrible so I chucked it and decided to go with an attic window .
I have been up since 3:00 .
I guess it's due to the snow we are getting on Sunday and God knows whatever is going through my brain at this hour  .
I don't know what's for dinner yet to early to tell.
I hope you all have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois.

Good Morning, it is very cold 9 right now but the temp is dropping to 1 below this morning, I will be leaving here to go with Val to therapy. I chucked the short jacket for my long coat. and boots. scarf and gloves are out too. As soon as I get home from therapy I will jump on the car to go to an afternoon showcase hockey game, it is an hour away, But a Grammie's gotta do what a Grammie's gotta do.
I did manage to get 4 more blocks prepped for hand applique and one block started last night, If I can do a bit each day it will move right along.
Hope all of you have a great day,,,we are in for some very bad weather here possible 8 inches of snow this weekend, I am going to try to hit the store one more time for a few things but we are pretty well stocked. We may need milk and butter from the dairy store and that is about it. If you are anywhere south the ice is supposed to be really bad stock up and stay in....XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo

BRR!!! Please be very cautious tomorrow and Sunday- the forecast is not friendly for most of the country. The Costco, Sams, are very busy for food items. Home depot is out of generators and the like. We don't even have a snow shovel-we just hunker down and hope we don't lose power as everyone else. We have been very lucky the past year. No hurricanes or tropical storms, we usually get a few days of ice cold but that doesn't last but a few days.

As long as we have power- I hope to sew for a change of pace (LOL.) On a serious note PLEASE stay off the roads if possible. If you can't please drive let snail. VERY SLOW!!

Good morning,

LOIS - up at 3? You are keeping my hours now! Though this morning I slept in until 4:15. Eight hours! With only 2 oe 3 wake-ups! BJ's must be a store in your area. In some places we see restaurants named BJ's. But no BJ's of any kind here.

JUDI - you be safe out there on the roads!! Our news says in some areas up to an inch of ice is predicted but perhaps that's further south. I'd take the snow! Good work on your quilt! And you still sound joyful when you talk about it!

CHRISS - They do make small books of matches, but I see your point. They do also make an adapter for electric drills that go in at 90*. Lee has one. But even Bill doesn't have that tool. But maybe your dad does - or having worked construction, perhaps there is one in Jerry's toolbox? If you still have it? It might do the trick. When you take your excess stuff to a quilt group for others to take, and they don't, do you bring it back home again?

MARY Q - you are even colder than my brother in North Pole! His high today will be -3*, his low -10*. Brrr!!! I hope you get some of your quilts back from Viv. Do you keep a list posted in your sewing room of the quilts she has? Has Zara enjoyed her sleepover with Gramma?

JANA - his Spike bottle feeding? nursing? Or are they feeding most of his food through an NG? Our criteria was breathing on their own with no bradies, eating on his own (whatever method Mom chooses), and gaining weight. Didn't really matter what baby weighed, but that they were steadily gaining. In the olden days they had to be over 5# but that isn't the case any longer. Or not in our NICU, anyway. Sounds like all your big boys are forging their own path ahead - even if it is to learn surfing in HI. I would, too, if I were a teenaged boy!!

DIANE - I hope you don't lose power and if you do, I hope your generator works! The rumor around our garage is they are supposed to be run at least an hour a month to maintain them. Have to say, the rumor-starter here doesn't do that with ours (a Honda 2,000) but that's what he tells me all the time. So I hope next time we need ours, it works! It lives in our RV and we very rarely use it for the house.

LYN - oh yes, burning up the track at the Y! haha! Wed I even passed someone! First time that's happened. Granted it was an elderly lady recovering from a stroke, being propped up by a friend, but still, I passed her! lol! Glad you are so knowledgable on your MH. I hope you don't lose power or water. You might have to move out there to stay warm! I assume Garry's facility has back-up generators. He will certainly understand if you can't make it to visit for a few days. You know he wouldn't want you to risk it.

VAL - I know leeks exist but that's about it. No one I know uses them. Mom only cooked veggies we grew in the garden. So I looked for them yesterday in the grocery store and didn't see any. This could be one reason I don't know much about them. I didn't know about artichokes either until I was in my 40's. Now I love them, but can't afford those little tasties. Not in our stores anyway.

I put in a full day yesterday which is probably why I slept so well last night. I got my outer borders on my dinosaur quilt and have the backing all ready to go. Then we went to the gym and I did the exercise class. Ugh! I stuck it out for 40 min this time. (It goes for an hour). Then we went to Tacoma shoe shopping and we both got new shoes. After that we did a big grocery run. I had to put all the groceries away. It was a lot of walking, mostly without cane. Though pushing the grocery cart almost qualifies as a cane. But I was beat when I went to bed. Today, I'll get batting ready for my quilt and we'll get the stuff off the quilting frame that has accumulated over the past 3 months and uncover it. We keep it covered with sheets when not in use for a while. Bill will quilt it - some day. He's slow but with cold coming, maybe he'll get on it sooner. I pulled my Book Nook pattern and might start thinking about that. Won't be cats, but on well. I have a sneaking suspicion that this will be come an annual thing - me making a raffle quilt for Aut's library. But I think that will be OK!

Got to run - time to head off to the Y. Yesterday my Fitbit said I walked 7,000 steps. Not sure how accurate it is, but I WAS tired by end of day. . . .

No time to proofread - sorry for any errors!

Good frosty morning.
Bitterly cold here, -6 WC-13. Racine Wisconsin area -13 WC -31 where my little grands are. Not been able to get on and day disappears and then it’s too late. Maybe things will get better. Today was a breeze.
Sewing today, getting tops made. DD1 will have surgery in February and I will not being doing tops for awhile, my stamped crossed stitch will be worked on. Have audiologist appt at 1. Otherwise not leaving house. I made DH grumpy because I thought single digits temps and windchills too cold to drive 25 minutes to go to water aerobics. Now he’s grumbling of my mess of fabric, which is a mess, I have too much . He’s taking my fun out of sewing. It gave me a warm feeling to do something for others, which I did like to do.
Crazy days. Tried putting suet out for the birds and squirrels took off with it cage and all. Beaten by a squirrel. Ugh.
Otherwise nothing new here. Hugs to all, stay warm, be safe. Prayers for all, the Lord knows who for sure. We have to remind ourselves He has this in control, the world, the weather and our lives.
Hugs

I'm back! Walked my mile. Yay, me! Monday, I'm going to try to add another lap, maybe two. I'm almost ready to resume my daily morning walks with Lori Across the Road. We haven't walked together since since last August.

DIANE - you will have snow but no snow shovel. We have a snow shovel (salvaged from empty house next door just before they razed it), but no snow!

FLO = 10" of snow! Wow! Exciting! Hope you don't lose power, though. Do you have any other source of heat? We have two wood stoves - upstairs and downstairs, so we have heat and the stoves are flat topped so we can do some cooking if necessary. Do you still have your RV? Does it have a generator? If so, you can always stay out in it to keep warm and cook. The only issue with that is, if it's freezing, you don't really want to unwinterize it and fill water tank. Saw your buttonholes. Go, Baby!!

TINA - I wouldn't be going anywhere in your temps - especially swimming!! You mean your DH, with his room full of stuff, is ragging on you about your fabric stash?? Let me talk to him! Tell him when he cleans out his 'stash', you'll clean out yours. He goes first. We had problem with squirrels, too until we put our feeder on a line with a pulley that we run from our deck to our RV shelter. We run the feeder out to where the squirrels can't get to it. Most of the time.

I have an appt at 0900 for a haircut and chiropractor about 0910. Not sure what I was thinking when I made the haircut time. But good thing is chiro is loosey goosey on time, haircut only takes 15 minutes, and they are about 1/4 mile apart, and both less than a mile from our house. It will work.

I haven't figured out supper yet. We're tired of chicken soup so we froze the last of it. But maybe we'll do pork chops and scalloped potatoes. I have a great recipe to cook them together in a baking dish in the oven, but I can adapt it to the crockpot, I'm sure. So everything will be ready at suppertime. I try to have meals like that - or ready to just slip into the oven because our kitchen is upstairs in our split level, but all the evening action - wood fire, TV, wine - is downstairs in the family room. But this is how it is in winter. I'm ready to set up our deck for summer living!

Don't forget to read the pink banner at the top of the forum! We're going down on Sunday, but hopefully back up again by the end of the day.

Good morning Girls

I think I have you all beat temperature wise!! Alexa says it's 22 BELOW with windchill of 45 BELOW!! Needless to say, I'm not going any where! I don't think anybody is going anywhere and I wouldn't even be surprised if the Post Office stayed home today! But I'll guarantee you that 6 months from now (end of July) I'll be complaining about the heat!! Kind of amazing when you think about--6 months and a 90* difference in temps!!

Lois.. Wow... $15.00 in coupons? That's a pretty good deal!! When I save money like that--I always think of it in terms I can understand... like $15. is like getting a yard or so of some really nice fabric--or 2 yards on sale at H.L.! You didn't have a good luck with the ribbon border? Isn't it like a lot of HST's? (which I am coming to really hate!) I did a fancy border on a quilt for my DBIL once, but now I can't remember what it's called. It's with 2.5" strip sets cut and put back together... If I think of it I'll let you know. It was actually pretty easy and really dressed up that quilt. ( I wonder what happened to that quilt after BDIL passed away in 2023)

Judi... One thing about it being super cold here.... it rarely snows when it's this cold--so that's a bonus! You be careful driving to that hockey game!! I hope you have an emergency kit in your car and good tires!! I should probably have an emergency kit in my car too, but I don't drive further than 2 miles from my house!

Flo.... TEN INCHES OF SNOW???? Oh my goodness.... you're a little way out in the country aren't you? I watch the weather for Oak Grove, MO where my BFF lives, which is about 3 hrs south of you (I think) so I see the winter storm warming for you guys!! Will send a little prayer for safe plowing for Joe!!

Diane.... It's so cold here today, I'm not even going out to the mail box!! Per Alexa... you can get frostbite in 10 minutes!! Even Miss Zara, my grand dog did not want to go outside this morning--and when she did, I don't think I've ever seen her potty so fast!! Is your electrical stuff underground? Do you get power outages when the weather gets bad? Ours are underground so if we lose power, we know it's a big deal, like at a big electrical station. You bet, as long as you have power, make that sewing machine hummmmmm.

Maryz... Congratulations on a good nights sleep!! No wonder you slept good, you were sure busy! Did you get new "fast starts"? That's what my Mom would call her tennis shoes, because she could fast start her day once she had her shoes on! I should have kept a list of the quilts Viv has, but I forgot! This kids are going down there next weekend and I know she's been working on a couple, so they may bring some home. She has some green she's going to share for that back of the Jacobs Ladder quilt I did (remember she has more fabric than a quilt store!) Oh I bet you did way more than 7000 steps if you did a mile around the track!!! Time for a new fitbit!! I took out a package of hamburger out of the freezer yesterday morning--turns out it was pork chops!! Into the crock pot it went with cream/chick soup and later on a little rice!! left overs for supper tonight!

Tinab.... Sorry to hear that DH is taking the joy out of sewing for you! I think a lot of us can say we have "too much" fabric--though at one time I thought there was no such thing. Most of mine is in my garage and it's just to dang cold to go out there and re-organize, but is there an area you can concentrate on to make "un messy" sometimes I get great endorphins from just playing with the fabric and moving it around. Please don't let somebody steal your joy!

Chriss.... I used to feel bad that I kind of wandered all around the house, going from one thing to another, but eventually I decided that's just me---and if eventually things are done, who the heck cares that it took me all day to unload the dishwasher. Last year I tried to get a group of quilters in my area, on facebook, so we could do stuff like that---fabric exchange. But got so little interest once I found out we'd have to pay to rent a space to get together--as nobody could volunteer their home--totally understand able. I've been going through scraps lately--keeping some and packing up other for a gal I know what quilts with the local Catholic church. I found a huge bunch of 2.5" strips that have been in my garage for almost 4 years--- I've got them all packed up to donate!

Jana... I used to have one of those big lighters---I called it the "trailer trash lighter" Did you know in Alaska you have to have 18 to buy a regular size lighter, but not to buy one of those big ones? Silly rule if you ask me! They do come in handy when lighting a tall jar candle, but then a stick of spaghetti noodle works in a pinch. How is Mr. Enoch doing?

Managed to get the borders on a quilt top I finished the other day---MQS "Magic Carpet" pattern. Today I'm playing with another jelly roll project, but will probably dawdle a little and unload dishwasher and maybe clean a bathroom or two. We'll see what the mood hits me.

Wishing you all A Fabulous, warm and safe Friday!

Good morning!

Let's see, I have 3 snow shovels, a snow brush that attaches to a drill motor, 2 long handled ice acrappers for the windshield and Daniel is fabricating a snow plow blade for the tractor. And NO SNOW! And I have 25 pounds of snow melt for the walks, after shoveling. Mother Nature must have gotten tired of what's happening in California and brought her California weather here with her. We're still waiting for the large earthquake that will give me beach front property. Sorry girls who are still there.

PT this afternoon. First session went well, this will be second. I have a grocery order to drive up to pickup arranged. This is what the other store doesn't carry. That will be quick and then while I wait, I'll work on the crochet edge on a receiving blanket.

I got out my stash of miscellaneous display items for my new shelves. We got that stuff in place, have room for more, so need to find where else I have items hidden. Now working on mantel display. Saw a gorgeous garland, but it's too short. It's only 4 ft long and I need 8 ft and buying two was way too expensive. So back to the drawing board. Still thinking about it though.

Dr appointment was good for Mr G. Only change was the blood sugar reader has a new monitor that goes for 15 days instead of 10. Good for me, not having to change it so often!

Same stuff , different day. I must be a cow, blink and I think it's a new day!

Hugs,
Jana
