Re: Saturday January 17, 2026
Happiness all around, little Enoch came into our world safely. Continued prayers for baby, Mother and Father. Another little one for Grandma Jana and Grandpa Michael. Happy times.
Laundry done working on two charity quilts. Woke up to 14 degrees wind chill 0. Tomorrow thru Tuesday even more bitter. Might invoke the too old act and stay in. I have enough in freezer to be creative with. May go to church tonight instead of morning.
Prayers for all, are continuing.
Be safe, warm and well.
Hugs,
TinaB

Good morning,
Our site is slow this morning. I hope it straightens itself out through the day.
JANA - You are having a big weekend! Congratulations on Baby Enoch! How is Kate feeling? Sounds like everyone is doing well! Will he stay a few days in NICU before going home? See you at the game later this evening!
LOIS - how many elf quilts will you be making all together? They are cute! We're doing laundry today, too, I think, though not sheets.
TINA B - brrr!!! You are too cold for me! Absolutely, invoke anything you want to stay indoors! Definitely evening church better than freezing morning church!
CHRISS - I think your ideas for your kitchen are genius! I have large drawers in our trailer for pots/pans and I love them! In the house, I have slide out shelves (with 3" lips on them) and I love those, too! I can't find the Little Ghost Christmas Quilt on Amazon or anywhere on the internet. Do you have the exact title? It's something I really should be looking into. Christmas is coming! I am not surprised that your bills for your heart surgery topped a million dollars. Heart stuff is a very big deal. Just the ICU rooms alone are several thousand a day. Puts a different perspective on the cost of medical insurance.
LORI - my dad's favorite ice cream was also strawberry. And for old time's sake, and in his honor, once in a while I'll choose strawberry, too, even though I'm a vanilla person. Did you grow up in your parents' house that is close to you? Sounds like you had fun as a teen! Are your paint party friends the same friends you go wine-tasting with? I can see, I need some more new local friends! I hope your MRI shows what needs to be done to fix your shoulder. And that the fix is quick and as non-invasive as possible!
VAL - occasionally I have to sign in a few mornings in a row. And I always click on the "remember me' box. And eventually, they do. Thinking of poor Tony and all he still has ahead of him. It's a bummer, but living with a colostomy is better than not living at all. Keeping him in prayer and healing thoughts. A very sad story about the lady who broke her neck. I feel for her and her family. Brings home once again just how lucky we are. I believe dox will induce Jana's baby because mom's water broke. Shouldn't let her go too long after that. How much longer until your hubby retires. You mentioned some time ago - 2 years and you might consider moving. Someone asked yesterday if you were considering moving closer to the littles. Do you give any thought to that? Climate is harsher but NV is MUCH cheaper to live.
LYN - I hope your glasses are spot on to fix your vision. I need new ones, too. I think mostly because my last 3 annual vision checks, he has told me the decline in clarity is just a tiny bit so I haven't bothered to get new glasses. Well, I got to thinking - that dx times 3 years, maybe it's time I get new ones after all! My next exam will be in May. Glad you got lunch with Bob & Carol. But sorry your restaurant is closing. That seems to be happening all over these days. Hugs to you and to Garry today.
FLO - glad you got a relaxing day. And did you get to play with your little playmate, Baby, yesterday?
JUDI - did you get your snow yesterday? We haven't even had any freezing temps yet and only a few nights has it dipped into the upper 30's. Maybe winter is passing us by this year. We're in the middle of a long dry sunny stretch with temps in 50's. Not complaining, mind you. But I do love snow and keep wishing for just a few inches before the winter is over.
MQ - I know you're out there somewhere. Did you forget about us yesterday?
I am taking the day off from walking the Y. Yesterday I was so tired I only made it 4 laps, came home and slept for 2 hours, went to chiropractor, and then slept for 2 more hours! In the afternoon I cut out my 7th'dinosaur. Tomorrow, we'll hit the Y again, more energized. Today - we'll work together on laundry. It's starting to snarl at us. And I'll make another dinosaur. Then I'm going to lay them all out to see what bright color would look best for the last one. We've got the big game at 5pm. GO HAWKS!! And we'll be having sweet'n'sour chicken over rice for supper. I'm going to put it in the crockpot this morning.
Why did the football player take string to the big game? He wanted to tie the score.

Good Morning I tried getting on this morning and it was so slow I gave up watching it buffer. Now I am back and it is much better, I got up and was requested blueberry pancakes from scratch. I made them for my son and Ken and they cobbles them down. I cleaned up the kitchen and now am getting dressed to go out and run some errands...we will go to a general store that was opened in 1840. THey have everything from antiques to furnture. and lots of goodies. I have a couple of birthday presents to buy so maybe I will find something there, Then Ken wants to go to the fish monger down near toledo. Im ok with that too. we will just run the streets today,,,they are clear and we are 27 this morning.
my cold seems to be losing it' s hold. I feel better, I need fresh air...for sure. So when I get home I think I will continue the day of fun by working on the Jane blocks..and see what I can make for supper...I also need to do a pick up grocery order for tomorrow...I think tomorrow I will make New England clam chowder. We havent had it in a long time.. I am doing ok on my diet,,,I did lose 8 lbs but we know most of that is water, the first couple of weeks. I am tracking my carbs and that is it...no special anything, I feel pretty good///
I love food so it is hard, and I love cooking and baking...
Well hope you all have a great day, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Congratulations on the newest member of Jana and Michaels family...Baby Enoch Happy Birthdday

Good morning Girls
See, I told you it would get cold again!!! We are at a balmy 7* this morning! for sure I'm not leaving the house today. I do have to bundle up a bit and shovel a little snow off my front patio, but that's certainly not an emergency.
Lois... How many Elf quilts are you going to make???
Tinab.... Oh yes, let's invoke the "too cold" act! My fridge is getting kind of empty, but I have a few things in the freezer that I can work with, if nothing else, there's always grilled cheese sandwich or peanut butter and jelly!!
Maryz... Yes I was absent yesterday, Peg called and said she was going to run up to Michaels and did I want to go! Duh!!! Our closest Michael's has no room to carry Fabric so I just browsed around mostly. I did find a pretty pink sweatshirt on sale. It sure would be convenient if they had fabric, but they have Target on one side of them and a dental office on the other side--no room to expand. When I go to my eye dr, she says "you have about a nickel's worth of change" and every year there's another nickels worth, When it added ip to about 25 cents I got new glasses!!! With all those miles you've put in around the track, I think you deserve a day off. Do you have one of those contraptions that counts your steps?
Jana... Wonderful news that Enoch is here... and a good weight! For being early, he did good!!! Those last couple weeks must have made a difference----every day counts! Hope Kate is doing well. I've heard C-sections are no fun at all! Will they keep Enoch for a few extra days?
Chriss.. Your kitchen plans sound absolutely wonderful!!! Shelves everywhere!! Can't have too many shelves in my humble opinion. When do you get your new furnace? If you got 30+ plus years out it, I'd say you got your money's worth. Do you have to replace your AC unit too? When my AC goes, I'll be looking at replacing both air and heat!
Judi.... Hey, 8 pounds is 8 pounds!! I don't care if it is just water!!! I celebrate every lost pound! (they keep finding me tho!)
Valerie..... So sorry to hear about your friend Sharon. One of my biggest fears is falling, especially in the winter time on ice and snow. We've had warm temps here a few times this winter, which means rain, then it freezes and creates a thin layer of ice on everything. When I walk out to the mail box I take my phone, just in case I fall. I hope Sharon has lots of support when she gets home.
Lyn... Thoughts and prayers. Remember to take care of YOU!
It is Saturday so I suppose I should do a few chores, tho I did run the vac yesterday and it's doesn't look too dusty around here. After I got back from Michaels I did get the borders on another little quilt top I've finished. Since the first I've finished 5 little tops--some had been started a while ago. I have one sitting on my table that I hope to finish today. IF it weren't so stinkin' cold I'd go dig in the garage for some backing pieces, but that will wait for another day!
So, I'm off to find more coffee and see what trouble I can get into today!
Enjoy your day!!!

Re: Saturday January 17, 2026
A balmy 32° right now.
I woke up at 6, looked at AccuWeather and it was 28° out. I was concerned about the MH. I checked the camera and it was 61° inside, but then I kicked myself for not having a camera in the bay. So I put on my robe and took a camera out and put in the bay. As soon as I opened the door, I knew it was fine. Garry was always concerned about it, I'm just following through.
I needed to get Garry some white socks yesterday and that took so long at the store that I didn't get the shake bought. Whataburger has a Dr Pepper Blackberry shake right now. He likes it, but just the Dr Pepper shake is the best.
As for my glasses, they are Ok, except when I looked at my phone, it was convexed, curved out especially at the bottom. After lunch, I went back and told the gal. She had never heard of this happening. Decided to just wear them and see if they need adjustment come Monday. I Googled it and it is a thing that can happen when RX has changed. It's not as bad this morning.
Friends and I had a nice lunch. They have gone to this restaurant a lot over the years. Turns out it was a favorite of the gal at the eye Dr., too. Because the place announced it only last Monday, we're all wondering if the place has been sold. Time will tell.
Kaylyn and Dean may come up this afternoon. I'm still fighting allergies and not getting much done around here.
Prayers for Kate, Enoch and family, also for other needs here.
Lyn

Lyn, Blackberry Dr. Pepper shake sounds interesting. We don't have Whataburger here in the west. Glad the MH was fine. Are your glasses progressives? I have progressives and had a hard time adjusting the last prescription I got in December. It took about a week to get used to them.
Maryq, I think staying inside is the best choice today. Brrr that's cold.
Judi, your little store sounds like a fun place to find things. Yay for losing 8 lbs. When I was weighed in the other day at the doctors office I had lost 7 lbs. It was a nice surprise.
Maryz, vanilla would be my second choice. And yes, these are a few of the friends that go wine tasting as well. We'll be going up to Sisters OR this summer for the quilt show and also the garden tour. We have a fun time when we're together. And road trips short or long are always entertaining.
Tinab, if you go out, be careful. I bet the roads are not fun to drive.
Lois, how big are the eleves?
Jana, the book I finished last ended with information on the Book of Enoch. It was kind of creepy. I'm sure he will be a joy. When do you get to see him in person?
Valerie, are you at a shop sewing today?
Chriss, hope your dad is able to get your self built. Will you be taking Judy for a drive while he works?
I've had my coffee and need to get dressed and have Mr. Jack take me for a walk. I didn't sew yesterday again, so I'll try today. We didn't have steaks last night, so tonight will be steaks and potatoes.
Have a lovely day.

Re: Saturday January 17, 2026
Good morning!
No further updates on Enoch. Today. Aaron can take the girls, one at a time over to NICU to meet their brother. I could go at anytime, but the walk is a long one, o I'll wait. Aaron has parental paid leave, so he'll start that when little guy gets to come home. Haven't heard s to when that could be. I hope he'll stay for a time, just to be sure. Enoch has ton of hair. We'll see if it stays dark like Gracie or blonde like Lila. Enoch's hair is about 2 inches long. if he would have waited for full term, he'd need haircut at birth!
Not much else here. The air is very tick, enough to slice and chew, I hate getting groceries on a Saturday, but it is now a have to. And pick up Mr G's suit at the cleaners.
So I'm off,
Hugs,
Jana

Re: Saturday January 17, 2026
Good morning. It's going to be a wonderful day today.
I opened my windows for a few hours yesterday and will do the same. The outside temperature and the inside temperature caught up with each other. Furnace arrives in 11 days. I have learned that I can do 60*, anything less and I remind myself that I get to live indoors, it's an eye opener. I really do have a blessed life.
Yesterday I got the floors swept and mopped, and the bathrooms cleaned. I saw where there is a leak and a wax ring will need to be replaced. Then I laughed. Jerry is probably glad he's in heaven and not here having to deal with toilets, windows, furnaces and all the kitchen stuff. Funny, while I wish things would last forever, and not need replacing, I am glad I get to pick and choose my own things, and make my house my house. Dad does the work, and decides what the next project will be, and I put in my two cents. I like this arrangement.
Lois, weather is really a huge factor in going places. Glad you aren't driving in the snow. Here the issue is fog. It's bright and sunny at my house but really foggy a few miles from here. It's easy to start out thinking the trip will be smooth then run into a wall of fog and only get to see a few feet ahead of you. Who are the elf quilts for? It's a fun pattern.
Tina, I like the too cold act. staying indoors is a wise idea. I think church on tv is also a wise choice.
Maryz, enjoy your day off from walking. What other colors are your dinosaurs? I think lime green is a good choice, or a bright orange. I texted you the ghost book info. I like the plans I have for my kitchen too, but my head is still spinning with thoughts, so I could easily change my mind.
Judi, I am back to tracking my carbs too. Those holiday's really put the pounds on. You and Ken will have a fun day out. A hot bowl of good clam chowder sounds wonderful.
Maryq, My a/c was installed a couple of years ago. The furnace will arrive on the 28th. The windows will be the first week of Feb. After that I will work on curtains or blinds or something. Then I think it would be wonderful to have the shower replaced in my bathroom, but first I will take some time to rebuild my savings. I'm looking forward to the time when it's warm enough so I can just plow through my garage and re-organize that chaos. My dad is such a mess maker and a space taker upper. He has stuff everywhere in that garage and I'm worried that if I move my car he will fill the space. He makes me laugh and shake my head at the same time. I am glad you take your phone with you, be sure it's in your pocket, if it's in your hand and you fall it will likely go flying into the street and something will run over it.
Lyn, I need to go have my eyes checked, it's been a couple of years. I do hope Kaylyn comes to see you, that would be a fun diversion. I do like Dr. Pepper,, do they mix it with vanilla ice cream to make the shake. It does sound interesting. Yesterday was a busy day to be out for my dad too. I guess it being Friday and also the day after payday (16th) got people out to spend money.
Lori, when Marilyn was here, we'd buy a big tub of Neapolitan. She and Jerry were ice cream hounds. She would dig into the chocolate; he would dig into the vanilla. I was a strawberry lover but didn't eat as fast as they did. They would finally finish off my strawberry so I would buy another tub. I sometimes take Judy for a drive. She usually wants to sit and play solitaire. Although, she did ask to go for a drive on the day we got her hair cut, and I reminded her we have a hair appointment. She doesn't bother dad as much as she used to when he works.
Jana, wow, that is a lot of hair. I bet the girls are excited to come see him. glad there is no news, that means all is well.
Yesterday moved things around in my kitchen so that I could turn the closet that was being used as a pantry back into a broom and jacket closet. Well, Jerry screwed shelves at angles that my drill won't unscrew. So I will work on that today and perhaps run a dust rag around this house. I don't think the parents will be here today so I may go work on cleaning up my sewing room which is starting to become the junk drawer of this house.
I'd like dinner to be chicken taco's. I found some small low carb tortillas I want to try.
