We are 47*, feels like 40*, and raining. Typical winter weather in the PNW. But I'm happy with it when I see what the Northeast gets sometimes, where my Grandpa came from in 1902. So no complaints here! I'm thankful he moved!
VAL, did you finish your binding yesterday? sorry you weren't feeling up to par.
JANA, I'm not one to say "I told you so!", but would you like to come to OUR Super Bowl party???
LORI, I thought the nurse practitioner was very good, very thorough, very kind. And I agree - sometimes I'd rather seen the ARNP, And I think the steroids are helping - at least some. I still have four more days to go. And I cook like you do - don't always follow the recipe exactly. Baking is different, but cooking - I take what I want, add ingredients I 1have on hand, and voila` - I create something that Bill really likes but can never be repeated because I never write down what I do!
MQ - yes, I was stitching the last two CW's at 2am a few nights ago. Couldn't sleep was hurting, so I got up, went upstairs to my recliner, put on my audio book, and stitched. Great distractions from pain. And I got 'er dun! And no, there is no quilting or binding needed for this quilt. No batting either. Though I did see on the internet an option to side a small square of batting under the "windows" for more of a 3-D effect. But I didn't do that. This quilt is 60x64 and already heavy enough. I have Christmas spread all over the living room right now, but after I get this all organized and put away and have my staff vacuum the carpet, I'll lay it out and take some photos.
JUDI - I like the idea of your sis have a post Christmas party. How many folks were there? Does she order all the pizzas? Or does each family bring one? What a fun gathering. Will you get started on the QOV today? My house looks like you described yours yesterday. I hadn't planned on starting the Take Down yet but then realized we needed to get the borrrowed tree down and boxed up so L&L could take it back to Drew's house when they go get their mail. And L&L are leaving in about 10 days. So that started this mess that I'm looking out on.
FLO - machine service here costs about $200. Ouch! But I bought a maintainence agreement when I bought my machine. It cost $500 but it's good for 3 years, as many cleanings as I like, free repairs, and 20% off any parts - but so far, any parts they've needed to replace, I haven't been charged for. I get my machine serviced at least twice a year, often three times. In the long run it's a bargain, but the original cost kind of staggers me. Just an FYI, once you put in snaps, it's really hard to get them out again without damaging the fabric. So, if that's your plan after your machine is repaired, just be aware. Also, what kind of machine do you have? Sounds like a Singer. How old is it? I believe Chriss also has a Singer.
TINA B, is your family party today? My head was thinking Jan 6 but today is Sunday, 4th. Or maybe you said 10 or 11? Whatever, I hope you have a super Sunday!
LOIS - yoo hoo! Calling Lois! Everything OK with you? I know nasty flu is going around. I hope y'all didn't catch it.
I received a card from Sharona, She is still fighting a myriad of health issues but said she hopes to be back after the first of the year. Praying she is able. She said she misses us.
I believe the Pred-Pack, as Mary Q termed it in Pharm-speak, is helping. I am now using the cane nearly 100% of the time throughout the house. At least in the mornings. I tire in the afternoons and evenings and sometimes cheat with the walker. Today I hope we can finish putting away all the Christmas stuff - we're 2/3 done. I pack one tote full of Christmas stuff for when we're in Texas in our RV. So when we pack again for a trip, we can just grab the Texas tote. I also have all my Christmas quilts and toppers to put away. As well as those ceramic nativities that I started to paint. I didn't get very far. They'll be packed away for another time when I'm in the mood. I really want to get back to my sewing room and my dinosaurs, but I'm using it as a carrot to get everything else done first. And everything else goes so slowly these days. We might go to the Y today to walk the track, but I'm not adverse to taking the weekend off from that. We also will watch the Broncos game this afternoon. They are our secondary team, unless of course they are playing the Hawks. It looks like supper is going to be leftover chicken chili. Again.
Have a blessed Sunday.
