Good morning,

TINA B - sorry to hear your dishwasher is on the fritz. They do say modern appliances have a built in failure date of 6 to 7 years. We have a Bosch and we love it, for what that's worth.

LORI - I had another sleepless, painful night, and was going to skip walking today. But I read your message to me from yesterday and you got me up and going. Thx. I think,

JANA - yay!!! You got teeth! I'm so happy for you! How do they feel in your mouth? Do you still have to go for cleanings every 6 months? My DBIL in CO needs teeth like yours. He's gotten two estimates so far and knows he'll have to take out a loan. I'm not sure what he's going to do yet I've been sharing your experiences with him.

CAROL - I really like your acronym. You should embroider that and frame it. I enjoy some wool applique though I haven't done any for a while. There is no formal PT with my hip. It was an anterior approach with just a 4" incision. Walking is the PT.

CHRISS - your 2025, like mine, has been anything but routine! Lets cheer 2026 and a new normal routine! So far, you like your new machines? I have Maytags bought in 1992, still going strong. I pray they outlive me!

MARY Q - Carol had a great idea for those jelly rolls - braid quilts. I think I even have an extra QIAD braid pattern you can have. I think .. . . How's your snow? It must look awfully pretty out your windows.

LYN - our car is the same - full assembly for headlights. I think most vehicles are like that now. We had a '92 Ford Explorer when we first got married. We needed one small part for the 4WD but had to buy the entire assembly. Ugh!! And yes fire that pest control company! Scorpions in the house are unacceptable. One of Autumn's cats alerted them to a scorpion right above Amara's crib. Ninja won Cat of the Year for that! I pray your new week, month, year improve!

JUDI - I'm going to have to pull up your pattern again to refresh myself. I do remember it's a beauty. So what's next? Did you get much snow?

I have just 4-1/2 "Windows" to stitch down and my CW will be DONE. Yippee! I think I started it in Aug or Sept. Whatever am I going to do with my evenings now?? I also have my first of 8 dinosaurs cut out. But first, my former co-workers (all nurses) are coming for brunch. Bill bought quiche, a small birthday cake, and frozen cinnamon rolls. And we have makings for mimosas. They are my birthday club - 4 of us getting together twice a year for about 30 years. We celebrated 2 March birthdays and 2 Dec birthdays. Sadly one member passed away 3 years ago. Her birthday was Dec 31 so that's why we're gathering today - to celebrate our Marilyn. But we have a new member who as asked if she can join us so that will be great!

Later this afternoon, Doyle and Susie will be here for pizza and cards. They'll probably go home before 7pm. Our wild NYE celebration! I hope I can stay awake. I haven't slept for 3 nights running. I'm nodding off as I type this so I guess that's my cue to go take a short nap before the girls arrive.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Morning
Today is laundry day, yuk. Found a collection of buttons at Walmart that may work on my dress. They look like I keep brass, but are plastic. They look like gears. Now struggling to relearn my buttonhole stuff fir my machine. I'm working on scrap fabric until I'm comfortable with look.
Have a great end of year

A cool 38° right now, but they're saying we may hit 70° by 3 p.m.

Flo, If you want more laundry I can send some up.

Judi, Enjoy the take down. My Christmas stuff is maybe 15 items.

TinaB, It's my washing machine. If it were my dishwasher I wouldn't care, though I hope it can't hear that. I don't remember what's in the house in Colorado, it's pre-me, been there more than 25 yrs and works great. When the people built this house they put in a Kitchen Aid, which I don't think cleans as well as the one in Colorado. I just emptied it and there was a reject pan, it didn't come clean, even though I rinse stuff first.

MaryZ, Thank you, I hope things improve in the new year. I was sleepless some last night, too. I hope that cat got extra treats!!

Chriss, We are twins. I bought that same model. Thanks for sending me the info.

MaryQ, Thank you for your thoughts and prayers 💞

So yesterday after I learned the washing machine is done, I started researching on my laptop for best replacement. Chriss sent the info on hers, I already had Whirlpool up on my screen. I called DB2 because he mentioned washers a while back. His thing was to get the agitator. My other choice would be a front load. I like the one in the Coach. Then I had to call our financial guy and have money moved to the checking account. I hate doing that, but no choice. I called the nursing home and asked them to feed Garry lunch, as I wouldn't be there. I had to pay property taxes to the Village and go to Llano to pay county. I will have to fight with the assessor later. They have charged the same amount on the now half acre as what they charged when it was the full arce.
I did take 15 minutes for myself and stopped at the QS. She has everything at 25% off, her annual pre inventory sale. I only found a panel that has 6 placemats on it, with flowers and butterflies in blues. Then I went to see Garry. He was asleep. They said he had eaten ok for breakfast, but not much for lunch. I tried to wake him, but only got a couple nods and a mumbled, Love you. I told him about the washing machine and then left and went to Lowe's. I thought Lowe's gave their military discount on appliances, but they stopped that 3 yrs ago. Anyway, they didn't have the front load, so then it was a choice on size for top load. The one Chriss bought has the agitator, but it can be removed as needed and it has a built-in faucet, so you can pre wash a stain before dropping into machine. I liked that since I don't have a laundry room sink. So, my washer will be delivered on Sunday.

Gee, I got to get moving. I slept in after the bad night. I will take Minnie today.

Happy New Year Everyone 🎉

Good Morning Girls!

Happy Last Day Of The Year!!! A little light snow today, but no storm in the forecast! No worries, I'm not leaving the house.

Judi... Did you get your budget all worked out? Is Ken going to retire? I can't imagine he would sit still too long, even if he retired. He looks like a pretty busy guy! I can even tell my kids are getting old---they are not going out for New years Eve either! One less thing for me to worry about!

Maryz... Some where around here I do have the braid pattern, and even the template that came with it! I do have a Jelly roll that would be perfect for a braid quilt--lots of bright colors! It's been interesting cleaning out my big closet--finding lots of things that I forgot I had! Came across a set of Log Cabin 8" blocks that were KC's---hidden up high---so I quickly threw them together for a little table runner! One project down, 1429 more to go! Spending the evening with good friends--best way ever to spend the night. Do Doyle and Susie live close by?

Jana... Congratulations on your new teeth! I bet you are excited to eat real food, bite into an apple, crunch some potato chips, gobble up some real french fries, enjoy a steak? I remember just getting my braces off--the first thing I wanted was a caramel apple! If Mr. G says there's no such thing as too much fabric... then I won't worry about the piles of it around here!

Lyn.... Yikes!!! A scorpion? Well, we sure don't have those in Minnesota! Poisonous right? Good things you got it and stomped it. Glad you found a new washer! I did look at front load washers when I bought for my new place--but wasn't sure about getting a big quilt inside.

Carol... Great Idea... braid quilt! They are so pretty! Years ago my first son-in-law used my fabric scissors for something---he felt so bad he bought me a gorgeous batik jelly roll in shades of greens and blues. This was probably in about 2010-11. Would you believe I just finished putting all the pieces together about 6 months ago!!

Chriss... Years ago when I had to buy a new washer (at my old house) I checked them out at HD, the sales person said "this will wash a queen size quilt" (her exact words) SOLD!! The only thing I don't like about my new washer is that even if you wash on HOT, the water isn't that hot--not like HOT HOT! I set mine to wash on "warm" and it's really closer to "cool" but not cold. The Clear time is kind of fun to be able to watch it!

Lori,.... I think if I was 50 years old, instead of 74, I would think that there is no such thing as too much fabric---as I'd have more time to sew it up! I keep telling my kids, I'm sewing as fast as I can!! Now that I have a bunch of kits set up, at leas there is a plan! As soon as I can get in the garage I'm going to sort fabric into sections: Keep---Donate--Sew Bibs---Sew Aprons--Sew Pencil Cases. that's the plan anyway.

Time for warm up my coffee and get work. My house was so pretty and clean last week... now it's a disaster! I asked Alexa this morning "who made the big mess in my house" She didn't have an answer but could give me some hints on cleaning it up!

Wishing Us All... All the very best in the New Year... With Happiness and good health and lots of

Good morning!

It's laundry day here too. I did some yesterday and need to finish and iron today as well. I have put off ironing, not in the mood, as my brother would say, and now it's a huge chore!

I have Samsung washer and dryer, mostly that brand because the had red as a color choice. They run great and are front load. About 14 years old now. Dishwashers are Fisher Paykel. They are usually called dish drawers. Love them all.

Worked on my crocheting. I am out of practice! My hands are achy today, but will do more.

First meal I did was a roast leg of lamb, rice gravy and fresh green beans. Over estimated my rice, so tonight will be a rerun and tomorrow will be lamb fried rice. This morning will be sugary old corn pops!

Crenda and my gremlins will come on the 10th to pack away all my Christmas. I'll start with some things I can do in the mean time. All the totes are upstairs already. Just need a run to Home Depot for big plastic totes for my tree. Easier to handle than original box. I got one new very fancy ornament for Christmas. It's from the store you don't ask the price, called Gumps, of San Francisco. It's a beautiful replica of a Faberge Egg. Never will it get hung on the tree, it now lives in my curio cabinet on display. Matt took Mr G shopping for it and they couldn't figure out which one to buy me, the red one or the white one. Called Crenda and she said buy me the red one and she wanted the white one! Matt hadn't planned on that, but Crenda got the white one.

Well, laundry isn't cooperating by loading itself, it's already sorted, so I better get to it.

Hugs,
Jana

Lyn, I bet you are wondering what will break next. Doesn't it seem like everything happens all around the same time? Glad you found a washer. The faucet feature sounds nice. Like Maryz, we have a Bosch dishwasher and love it.

Diane, happy birthday to your son.

Jana, I like lamb, but Bill does not, so I haven't made it in years. I bet it was yummy.

Maryq, when we bought our washer the main criteria is that it could do heavy loads like big quilts. Some days I feel like I should just give all the fabric away, but then I see it and love it too much. At least I haven't been buying more lately.

Flo, glad you found buttons for your dress. I think they will look nice on that blue.

Maryz, I'm sure you'll find another project to work on in the evenings. Have a fun celebration with your friends. Nice to keep the friendship going. I too had a bad night. I woke up about 130 and was having pain in my shoulder/arm. I took Motrin, iced, heat pad and nothing was helping. 2 hours later I took a Tylenol and finally fell back asleep. This getting old stuff is for the birds. Hopefully I'll be tired tonight and be able to sleep better.

Judi, I bought some hummus yesterday. It sounded good.

It's supposed to start raining again today so I'll just hang out around the house. I might go through my sewing closet and see what's in there. I haven't sewn much since my shoulder froze back in September. Not sure what we'll do for dinner. Maybe pasta of some kinds.

Have a wonderful day and I'll see you all next year.

Good morning. It's going to be a beautiful day today.

I got a late start, slept in and am finally up. After breakfast and a shower, I will ponder my day. I cleaned my dad's house yesterday, mine is already clean, except for dishes in the sink. So my only have to today is those dishes. Such a rough life I live.

My quilt group is planning a year full of things and in January they are going to have an ottoman making class. I don't really want an ottoman but will take the class and get myself back into action. My butt sits more than it moves and that needs to stop.

Carol, I think I will borrow your SEW mantra, I've been quite lazy these past few months.

Lori, funny, I have to learn to use my W&D but the page that tells me how to use them is one sided and has many pictures and few words. And after looking at the directions it's quite simple. My car is a real learning curve for me. But I will get it. Enjoy that new die, sounds like you have a fun quilt planned.

Tina, oh no, a big Christmas dinner and no dishwasher? There are just so many choices in appliances now. Like Lori said, you used to just push a button and it would go. I think Maryq just bought a dishwasher. Hope you have a great family Christmas.

Judi, I don't do anything or NYE either. I did go out when I was younger but now I prefer the comfort of home.

Maryz, what a great way to end the year, finishing a CW quilt. Sorry you aren't sleeping. Enjoy your group bd lunch. 2024/25 certainly had their ups and downs. But we are revitalized and ready for 2026, we will fall right into it and be our better selves. Have you heard that quote. You can't handle the storm? https://biblewisdomhub.org/the-devil-wh ... ble-verse/

Lyn, I've only done one load so far and am happy. I do need to buy some HE detergent because it's recommended for newer machines. I hope you love yours, amazing how big the washer is. And while it's rare that I would remove the agitator, you just never know. The set is about an inch or so wider than my old set. I used to have my garbage can between the washer and the wall, it won't fit anymore. I will figure out something else. I hope that Garry is alert and ready to chat with you a bit more today. You sure were a busy girl yesterday, sometimes it's good to have distractions.

Maryq, I admit, I looked in the see through lid a couple of times to see just what was going on inside that washer. I hope you find lots of treasures. I know I have things I don't remember buying.

Jana, sounds like a great first meal. I think taco's are in order or something with lots of crunch, like MQ said, bite into that apple girl.

Ok, I have piddled long enough. Moose and i have taken our morning stroll and I have finished most of my morning stuff, except for the dishes. Time to do those now.

I have hamburger thawed our for dinner, I probably should cook it now because it seems like whenever I take something out for dinner I get distracted. and don't cook as planned.

Happy new year and I pray we all have a blessed year ahead.

Good Morning!

After yesterday's morning rain the temperature went up. At 7 PM last night it was 73 degrees! Many of you would love to see that as a daytime temperature, however it is starting to rain and will continue throughout the day today.

There was an email yesterday from Martha Stewart with a list of movies to watch on NYE. DH and I never know the movies, so I looked at the list sent it to DH and he looked. I suggested we could get it on Amazon, however I then remembered the library has DVDs. We are old fashioned enough to have a DVD player. I checked with the city, and they did have "About Time" and the county library had a copy of "When Harry met Sally" available. We drove to both libraries and the city library had "About Time". I am first in line for "When Harry met Sally" so will get it in a couple of days. Tonight, we will watch "About Time". Since we were out driving around last night we stopped for dinner. Dinner tonight will be Chicken and Rice Casserole.

I have a hair appointment in about 45 minutes. It will be nice to start the new year with a fresh haircut.

Glad to hear you are all liking the acronym. I do try to read each day too.

Happy New Year everyone! (I will be sewing this afternoon.)
Carol
