TUESDAY, November 18th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Nov 18, 2025 4:16 am

Good morning,

My word, time is flying by! Thanksgiving is only 9 days away and Christmas is in just 35 days. Where did summer go??

JANA - a real bummer that your dental team had more surprises in store for you! I bet you were ready to spit nails when you heard all that! I can't believe they forgot to tell you about this. Though just maybe you'll have your permanents by Christmas? Glad Mr. G did well on his test.

LORI - Bill actually helps a lot. He'll do anything I ask and if I don't ask, he'll often say, "Anything I can do to help?" However, the last few days I was baking for the tree crew and he was outside working with them. What company is your mitten project from? So nice to see smiles when your give your quilts away. This year I've given 2 quilts away and have 3 more to go - Bill's sis and her two DD's. Good news that Jack is doing some better and getting out to walk.

MARY Q - oh yes! We'll be using the wood from our tree, but you are right - it needs to season for at least a year. But we have enough dry wood to get us through this winter. I do love a real fire, though there is appeal in a gas fireplace, too! Did you find anything at HL or did you just ride shotgun?

LYN - I think the medical world is starting to realize the value of pet therapy. Our local hospital will allow your own pets to visit, provided, of course, they are clean and well behaved. And nursing homes encourage pets to visit. So I'm glad Minnie got to go see "Dad"!

JUDI - I bet all our homes are full of special mementoes. I know mine is. And I also know my kids will one day have a Goodwill trailer backed up to the door and they will be heaving stuff in as fast as they can! But for now, I enjoy my "stuff" and as long as I have room for it, it stays. Have you found the pattern you were looking for?

FLO - Are you ready for TG? Did you get all you needed in town? And what town is that?

LOIS - is company coming for TG? Or will you be going someplace else? We will be alone for TG but friends are coming Friday. and maybe Lee & Lara. I will cook a turkey breast.

I make no plans for most of my days and yet they all seem filled to bedtime! Yesterday was chiropractor. Then we stopped at CVS to pick up a Rx and some greeting cards. We found a Disney Moana doll so we grabbed that, too, for Ms You Know Who. Her last night before they left, we watched Moana together. Aut says it's her new big favorite thing. A present from Nonnie and Pop seemed in order! We brought it home, boxed it up, and Bill took it and the boxes Autumn left for us to ship to her to the UPS store - next door to that CVS. We didn't get much else accomplished before we went to meet our friends for Mexican food. They came back to the house with us and we visited for another couple hours.

Today's plan is to work on our scrapbook of Amara's visit here. We do it through Shutterfly and they have a big sale on this week - 40% off through Sunday, so the push is on! Once we start on it, we should be able to get it finished by Sunday. Bill wants to spend a few hours splitting wood since it's going to be a dry day. And I'll hang in my sewing room while he does that. Supper is going to be that chicken pot pie that's been hanging around.

Enjoy your day!

Morning maryz, we went to Aurora Missouri. Irs about 25 miles south if us . We bought 4 bone in turkey breasts. We don't wat dark meat so whole turkey is a waste. I will take skin off, make a paste of apple cider & whole berry cranberry sauce with poultry seasoning & cook whole breast in crock pot. Joe may debone bird so I also bought cooking twice to make a meat log. We will see.
Heads for van will take about a week. That gives Joe time to rest and parts to come in.
Today is nothing special. May just head to sewing room to make a blouse.

Good morning Alarm went off at 6 for Ken but he wasnt having any of it..So he stayed for another hour. he has been going to the rink everyday and doing little stuff he does there, yesterday fixing door locks. He is their jack of all trades and he likes hanging out with the other "retired" geezers.
I dont have much on the list but the 7 windows in th sun room. it is cloudy and cold but the windows the last of them have to be done. No sewing projects at this time. the t shirt quilt is on hold til the last jersey is procured.. maybe this week it will come. I havent heard from GLoria on her t shirt quilt but she is busy with her grandkids..I expect to hear from her today
Our quilt guild has been moved to tomorrow since next wednesday is the thanksgiving eve and no one want to meet. so we will do it tomorrow. Ken will go to Liams hockey game I will guild. I will pribably be given the backing for the QOV so I can quilt that, and get it ready for next years presentations...A lady has offered 5 QOV tops to us but I wont be doing them all unless I get very very weak and say yes,,,But they are next years project. for the guild. I still have the Jane Austen kit sitting in the wings, but I want to have free time for that and since it is a complicated quilt my undivided attention.
I was having a chat yesterday about the giving away of quilts..I always make sure all the grandkids have Christmas quilts and have given away many of my very favorite quilts....I was trying to rememebr the most favorites and I finally found the quilt photo. BUT the pattern seems to have disappeared...I looked my whole stash and it is gone...I loved that pattern and yes Maryz I found the name of it..."Christmas Ribbons" I think maybe Jana may have been making that quilt also. but I will need to rebuy the pattern since it is gone...I will check ith my sister incase I loaned it to her,,but she is not much for intricate patterns so I dont think so. It is by Lynn Wilder and she has 2 Christmas quilts I have done and both patterns are gone. and both I loved..Sometimes purging is not good...
Well I need to go up to the market for fresh veggies and then those windows...Hope you all have a great day

Good morning!

First off, Judi, let me find my Christmas Ribbons pattern. There's a good chance I can scan the pattern and email it to you. I'll get Mr G to help. No reason not to share!

We're cloudy and Chriss is sharing her rain with Utah, just hasn't quite gotten up as far north to me yet. Maybe today.

Crenda won't be here today. It's Tanner's 15th birthday and so that means he's at the DMV to get his permit to drive. Tanner planned this event since he was 14. Tanner said that 14 was the longest year of his life! Hopefully he'll pass the written test. He didn't make the high school basketball team this time, so he'll keep practicing and try again next year. Also Matt is having some minor out patient hand surgery. Crenda will be there to help Matt too. Poor Matt, soon he'll have three licensed teenage boys driving! Literally, poor, when he pays that insurance bill!

Not much planned here. Pity party is over, and I will just have to deal with it. It appears that all the imaging of Mr G's heart looks good. He's glad for that and that this test won't need to be done again! It's not fun and took 2.5 hours and hurt! The final readings will be in My Chart today, we hope.

I found some frozen turkey stock in my reorganizing of the freezer, so took it upstairs and thawed it. Made the noodles last night. Changed my tried and true recipe, just a small tweak, and boy, wished I did the tweak years ago! The noodles rolled out easy. No fighting the dough. So there are leftovers. I also took the time to separate the noodles and the broth before they went in the refrigerator. Hoping that this works to keep the noodles from soaking up all the broth. I've seen that done for other soups, cooking the pasta separately and adding in what each serving needs. But my noodles are cooked in the stock, so I tweaked that too. Now my floor needs a good sweeping. I get flour from hockeysticks to breakfast, as my mom would say.

Laundry is done. 3 shirts to iron today, then down to the Batt Cave.

Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Yesterday Garry's speech was a tad better, more understandable until evening. Therapy is going to be a long road. I gave the Case manager a copy of Garry's medical power of attorney, which obviously names me. Told the gal that his insurance portal says they could take as long as Nov 28th to decide on rehab hospital. So, much of my day was on the phone to insurance. I can be the squeaky wheel you never want. Oh, add to everything else the Jeep can up with a message saying there was a problem as I was driving to the hospital yesterday morning. Kaylyn followed me to the Jeep dealer who's north of Marble Falls. Guy cleared the codes, it needs some updates that take 2-3 hrs. He gave me a side hug and promised it won't leave me on the side of the road. Bring it in after I get hubby taken care of. Nice man. When he was clearing codes I noticed my front left head light is out. I will have to get one. I can change it, over the past couple yrs I changed our friends on their Jeep cause my hands are smaller to get in the tight place.

I managed to get about 8 hrs sleep, but now running behind. Time to shower and get to the hospital.

Hope y'all have a good day.
Lyn

Lyn, good news about Gary. Hope he continues to improve and is back home soon. I'm glad the Jeep is an easy fix.

Jana, 3 teens with drivers licenses? Yikes! Glad to hear the imaging went well. Bummer about the new teeth. Not much you can do about it except wait.

Judi, you're in luck, Jana has the pattern. I do that too. Purge things and then want them again.

Flo, I prefer chicken with bone in. It's way more flavorful. Finding it is sometime difficult. I bought a whole chicken last week and used it for soup. It was very yummy.

Lois, I'd much rather do New Years Day. It's the end of the holiday season and you can just enjoy the day.

Maryz, I got the pattern at Road2CA a few years ago. I think it was a French company. There are a few that sell embroidery stuff. I'll text you a picture. Glad Bill is a helper. I have 3 more quilts I held back that I might give to people or if I don't they'll go to charity next year. I like days with no plans.

I have PT this morning, then Jack goes for his laser this afternoon. We already took a walk. It finally stopped raining and the air is crisp and clean. We got down to 48 this morning which is unusually for us. Our total rain was about 4 1/2 inches. For SoCal that's a quarter of our yearly rain. It will take the ground a bit to absorb the water. I want to finish up the mittens today. Also need to vacuum. With the dogs in all day because of the rain it gets a little furry. Don't know what we'll do for dinner yet.

Have a lovely day.

Back again,

Well where we thought we passed the test for Mr G yesterday, he has now caused alarm with the Dr. Blood flow in half the heart is fine, the other side, not fine. So the Dr is scheduling a angiogram and talking a possible Stent being added in one of the bypasses they did. One of the bypass veins used was just barely big enough, so they used it and it failed because of size. Not big enough. So now they need to expand and see if that improves the blood flow. Not a fun outlook. We'll know more in a few days. So here we go again. A bright side of this cloud, is more cardio PT that will help gain strength.
