Saturday November 1

Post by WeSignificant » Sat Nov 01, 2025 6:40 am

Good morning November already! Don't forget to turn back the clocks tonight.

All is going pretty well in Indian Springs. Tony is eating soft foods in small amounts. Tried stew and tat was too much. We went for our first walk yesterday and he did pretty good. He was able to empty the colostomy bag on his own yesterday.

I haven't gotten anymore sewing done but am going to try today. I am also going to go through the spice cabinet and toss all the old stuff.

The President of the church came by yesterday. He brought some homemade molasses bread his wife made. Anxiously awaiting the first taste. He always offers up a prayer with us so that is nice. Another member came by also.

He was not up to Halloween so we just didn't turn on the light. I had a few candy bars though just in case. I still have them.

Maryz I wish I knew the back story too but no info out there.

Other than that, nothing else new. Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday and prayers to all in need.

Good morning,

Valerie so glad Tony is showing improvement he has a great caregiver.
Flo sorry about the balloon popped.
Today will be catch up on the house and if I get to go upstairs I will.
There wasn't too many kids this year I think it was the wind or people probably took them to the mall to tricker or treat.
Well nothing much going on here but if I don't get going I won't get anything done.
Everyone have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.

Good Morning,,It is cloudy and cold but no rain, the wedding today is an hour+ away we will leave here about 2 for the pre ceremony reception then the ceremony, which is out side ( weather in the 40s) I figure it really doesnt matter what we wear as the coats will be needed, Then the reception is in the main building so at least we will be indoors. This venue usually doesnt do weddings after October but made a exception for Jessie becuase she had her heart set on this place. We are wondering if the barn is heated or if they will have to bring in portable heaters. We shall see.
I never got to the quilt yesterday I was just too tired to get at it...it is off the frame and on the sewing table. waiting, Maybe tomorrow. Right now I need to steam Ken dress coat as it was packed away and got wrinkled...He did it not me...I get to unwrinkle it...He couldnt wear it as it was too small , now it fits. No rest for the wicked they say now to find my steamer,,,I have no idea where i put it.
Well thats my day, Hope yours is full o fun,,, Last night it was dark cold and quiet in our little town, at least on my end. Downtown was trunk and treat and lots of fun for the kiddos. we didnt go down...

Good morning!

Weather is giving us one last hurrah for warmth. Then it's downhill.

Valerie - I had to smile at your term, president of the church this morning. That one that came to see Tony and you, really isn't the president of the church. I am guessing that it's either the Elders Quorum President of the Ward , Tony's in, or the Bishop of that Ward. The Ward is the basic unit of the church, oversaw by the Bishop, who watches out for each member of that Ward. It's a big job. In each Ward, there's a organization of the men, called Elders. That group has a President. That man is another pair of eyes to watch over the members. We also have organizations of the Relief Society, the Primary, Young Men and Young Women. Each of those leaders are also called president. Each also help and watch over all the members. We members of the church, also look after the members of our Wards. It's all part of our opportunity to serve. Being a member allmy life, all the terms and lingo we members use, is quite normal to me. So if you wonder what's what, just ask, I'll try to explain so it's not so foreign to you. Our church is the same, no matter where in the world you are. The Ward is there to help, let them. Also, the Ward may have a link that will allow Tony to watch Sacrament meeting at home. Ask the Bishop and he can help with that. Read this to Mr G and he wanted me to add this. The First Presidency of the Church, and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles are the head of the entire church and preside over it all from here in Salt Lake City. The President is now Dallin H Oaks and is the president and prophet. Our church now has around 20 million members, worldwide, organized into Wards, that a Bishop is called to take care of. My Ward has around 300 members. My son, Matt was a Bishop for about 5 years where he lives. It's a hard, time consuming calling, but comes with many blessings.

Today should be a quiet day. I guessed pretty close to the right number of T o T'ers last night. 9nly have ten treat bags left, so the grands will get those on visits out here. Everyone is busy at their own houses today. Putting up Christmas lights, buttoning things down for winter. So I'll sew and watch football. BYU has this week off, and Utah plays later tonight.

Enjoy your day and all the smiles it brings!

Hugs,
Jana

Jana everyone calls him President so I just follow along. But his real name is Charlie. He is in charge here. But either way he is very nice. Thanks for the info.

Limited TV access out here. He has dish but not many available stations. No wifi.

Good Morning girls

Yup, it's Saturday!! You know what that means..... It's chore day! One of the things I hate most about being a grown up is.....having to do chores! And it sucks that I'm the only one here to do them! Can't eve make a kid or two help! There are some days, when I wish I could hire Katie's housekeeper to do mine too while she is here!! This morning it looks like a tornado went through here, so there's won't be much in the way of sewing getting done today---at least until the messes are cleaned up!!

Valerie..... So good to hear some good news for Tony! That he got to eat real food is a great sign that he is improving and that and up and walking around!! Thank you God for answered prayers! I've never heard of a President of a church.... Pastors and Priests yes. But Jana explained it well. LDS church? Minnesota is probably mostly Catholic and Lutheran with pastors and priests.

Flo.... I saw some pictures on FB of your trunk/treat party! It looked like Lisa was having a good time. I bet she enjoys being around other kids!

Lois.... For the first time since I moved here I had ONE trick/treater last night. Apparently the Dad did not understand to watch for porch lights on! Good thing I have a few little pieces of candy. All of the lights on our garages come on automatically when it gets dark, for safety reasons, but not front door light. Did you say you quilted your Flamingos? Viv is coming up this week, so I have to remember where I put mine so I can send it home with her..... With a little luck I'll have it back before Christmas

Judi.... This time of year, with the leaves turning to beautiful colors---what a pretty backdrop for a wedding!! How nice that the venue let Jess have it before they shut down. Call me crazy but I LOVE to iron shirts!!! But then I like to vacuum too. Not a fan of washing floors tho--I'd just like a housekeeper to do my floors and that's it!

Jana.... Interesting information you shared about LDS. As I said, mostly Catholic and Lutheran around here, though there were a couple LDS families in St. Michael. One family had 12 children!!! AND home schooled them!!! I gave them a lot of credit! I knew the Father quite well, not so much the Mom. I heard that Daylight savings was also to help farmers and school buses work in more morning light? who knows!

Maryz.... I'm guessing you are busy playing with Ms. Boots this morning! What a joy to have that little peanut around! You are happy with your new surgeon? Sounds like he has plan to get you feeling so much better! I could really use your Lulu this morning--could I borrow her for a day?

TInab.... Glad to hear you have been able to get some sewing in.... doesn't it just make the whole world seem better when you can spend a little time at the sewing machine. Speaking of dirty cars.... I should probably put that on my list of things to do. I would so love to get the inside of my car detailed, but the last estimate I got was... .well... let's just say it was more than will fit in my budget! I'd rather buy groceries!

Lyn.... Did you venture out to the city wide garage sales? Garage sale season is pretty much over up here---who wants to sit out in a cold garage!!! Lots of city wide sales in the summer and my friend Peggy loves to go---but I have to remind myself that I don't NEED more stuff!! Though sometimes I find an odd thing I think I can't live without. Peg loves to go to thrift stores too, so we sometimes make a day of that... occasionally I'll find a perfect little piece of fabric or a book I can't live without.

Lori.... I too, much prefer time left alone. I do remember a while back they did try it.... left it for one year, then everybody made such a stink about it, they went back to it! Up here, it will just mean it gets dark at 5:00pm instead of 6.

Chriss.... Glad you ignored the dust and went out to enjoy some time with Moose!!! At my house, I slowly changed all my stuff from the brass to brushed nickel too! Now Kris is changing it back to brass/gold! What goes around comes around I guess. I was going to go with nickel here too, but I really like the look of the black. Once I get the countertops I'll be pretty much done making this place my own! Only a couple light fixtures I'd like to replace!

Well you guys.... this tornado mess isn't going to clean itself!! Time to refill the coffee cup, crank up some music and get busy. Floors, toilets, dust and vac will the projects of the day!!

Wishing you all the very best the day can bring !

Overcast, a chance for rain and won't get out of the 60's today.

Valerie, It's good to hear that Tony is improving.

Chriss, If you had been here, I would have started the garage sale hunt much earlier. My DMIL liked to go to garage sales. When we would visit her, she and I would go to the Kansas City suburbs. It was fun and my best memory was her buying a purse for $2. She thought it was the best deal ever.

I did go to 4 sales closest to me. Didn't find a thing, but visited with the people, especially the couple that live 3 doors down. I like to know my neighbors and try to be friendly. I then decided that some Cooper's BBQ from Llano would go good with the veggies on hand. So, I left the To Do list and went to Llano and of course I stopped at the QS first. I bought a yard of fabric to make arm rest covers on Garry's recliner. He is damaging the edge by rubbing on it.

I will have to get some laundry done, the skivy inventory is at critical.

Have a great day.
Lyn

Good morning. It's going to be a beautiful day today. Mid 70's and when I am done here the windows will all be opened up. I love days like this.

I seem to be sleeping in lately, I need to get back into a better routine so I can get moving earlier. I don't like getting up so late. I go to bed at the same time each night.

No real plans for today, I'd like to clean the bathrooms but that doesn't mean I will actually do it. I've been looking for and found a two drawer wooden file cabinet at an estate sale. I had them load it in my car and when I got home had someone unload and bring it into the house for me. I might start filling it today but will clean it up first.

I guess I do have other plans for today. The parents just called and they will be on their way here shortly, guess taht means I need to get dressed soon.

Valerie, glad Tony seems to be improving.

Flo, great picture, DGD is cute in her costume.

Lois, glad the T&Ters didn't make you get up and down all night. I enjoy seeing the costumes but am glad I don't have them here.

Judi, enjoy the wedding. I love wedding cake, have a slice for me.

Jana, happy light putting up day. did you get that DIY Christmas tree made?

Maryq, so nice to be almost done making your house yours. I have a ways to go. After the kitchen, which isn't done, I will tackle the bathrooms, then paint my bedroom. Floors will be the last thing on my list.

Lyn, if I had been there we would have started at the furthest sale and worked our way home. And we could have been therewhne they opened. I can put on my shoes and be out the door in less than 10 minutes.

That was a quickie. You girls have a great day,
Chriss

Valerie, I've never had molasses bread. Was it yummy?

Flo, sounds like you had a good time at Trunk or Treat.

Lois, we hardly have any kids anymore. Things have changed.

Judi, have a good time at the wedding.

Jana, I chuckled at your comment about if the opposite of pro is con, what is the opposite of progress? Congress?

Maryq, someone needs to come up with a self cleaning house. Similar to the self cleaning oven. hahaha I tend to just set things down and not put them away until there's no more room.

Lyn, I have to keep a quilt over the chair where Bill sits. His head is very oily and it damages the leather. I just try and clean the arm rests often too. Men!

Chriss, your body probably needs more rest for healing. You'll get back to your routine eventually. Glad you found the file cabinet. I have one and would have given it to you if you lived closer.

Going to a friends for lunch and games. One of our friends is in town from WI. So a few years ago, there was a meme about someone who would leave things at peoples houses. So I find little things that I don't think they will notice and put it on a self in there house. I'll be leaving a little chicken trinket today. It's really small and I should be able to find a place for it. I left a candle in a Christmas tin at her house years ago and she never found it. It's funny because she knows I leave things and she can't find them.

Later this afternoon I'll change the sheets and maybe vacuum. We'll be watching the last World Series game tonight. The Dodgers made a great play to end the game last night. I thought for sure the Blue Jays were going to win. We'll probably have grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner and maybe some soup.

Have a wonderful day.
