Good morning,

We are at 54⁰ and going up to a high of 76⁰ .
Today I will pack up my machine and bring it to FedEx .
Then when we get back I will wash clothes and finish my wagon for the snowman quilt.
Other than that I have no other plans for today.

I hope you all have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Good dark and early morn.
It seems that me and 4am are friends lately. GRR!!
I hope your machine gets a new life and will be back soon. I hate hearing the words "it has to go to the factory".
Today I hope to work on a QOV top. It is a panel with a fierce mad eagle with "these colors don't run" on it. I really like it but alot of the women don't. Strictly a mans quilt. Fingers crossed.

Hope everyone has a sunny day.
Diane

Good early morning,

One side effect of a steroid shot is insomnia and it can last several days - or nights. As if I didn't already have enough trouble sleeping. Sigh. So here I am at 0230.

JUDI - how was the cousin reunion? Was it at a restaurant? A potluck at a hall or park? Someone's home? I bet it was fun to reconnect with everyone and catch up on the family news. Have you talked to Sophia since they got home from NYC? Have you finished all the actual blocks in KTVC and now are just finishing up the fill-in pieces? I didn't work on mine at all yesterday.

LORI - I think you said you are doing this quilt, too, at some time? There is a "pro tip" at the bottom of page 13. It really should be at the beginning of the pattern. And there are a couple of errors in the pattern that are on the website. Don't forget to check there.

JANA - ever the teacher. Nice little tutorial you gave us! Thx! Have you heard from Daniel? Did he fly or drive home? Hope you got to sew over the weekend. A boy! I bet A&K are thrilled with that! Now the hunt for the purrfect name begins. I like Nicholas. One of my favorite names. Nicholas James.

LOIS - Well, I was sort of right in remembering, I guess. You had the frame but not the machine. I wonder how long it will be before you hear anything. I Googled Grace Co. The headquarters are in Maryland, but it looks like your machine might have been sent to Salt Lake City for repairs?

MARY Q - Would like to see a photo of that coin purse you made. Are you going to do some more for your craft show? I had a big tuxedo cat we found injured, at my parents, in 1986. We named him Tango. He looked much like Foxy. Autumn, who got Foxy for us in Texas, named him "Foxtrot". And I guess our next cat will have to be "Whiskey". Tango, Foxtrot, Whiskey. We think like your dad I guess! And yes, you can have my Oatmeal Craisin Cookie recipe. They always turn out tasty - even if you go downstairs to do something and stay too long and the timer is buzzing away when you come back up. They are still good. :D Recipe doesn't call for it but I always add a heaping teaspoon of cinnamon and a half teaspoon of cloves. Gives them a little more flavor.

CHRISS - I love your countertop choice. Do you have any idea when the work will be done? Don't worry about those leaves. Maybe a big wind will come along and blow them out into the fields. Or maybe your mail delivering, watering friend would do it? Dad, possibly? You and I have no business dealing with fall leaves right now. And you and I have identical sinks - stainless steel, divided, one side smaller. I have a rack in the bottom of my smaller one. It's handy for thawing food, and also for draining bigger pots that I hand wash. Did you decide what to do with the dishwasher or the space that it is in?

LYN - For some reason I was thinking your trail ride was Sunday. Will Kaylyn lead it? It's going to be so much fun! Some of El's books show her applique method quite clearly if you happen to have any with you.

DIANE - I, for one, like that eagle! You sew, Girl!

yesterday morning we went grocery shopping for a short list of things. We came home and I put it all away, then made my oatmeal Craisin cookies. Cleaned up that mess, then cleaned and cut up veggies and made a dip for snacking during the football game. After that I prepped supper - put chicken to marinate in Italian salad dressing, made salads, and scrubbed potatoes for baking. By then I was wiped out and my hips said they'd had enough, so off to the heating pad I went with a book. Later we watched Seahawks/Saints game. Seahawks won 44-13. It's because I wore my lucky, glittery Hawks shirt.

This morning I have chiropractic appt. Then my friend's niece, who has a housecleaning business, is coming by to meet us and maybe give me a hand with some of the heavier housework that I just can't do right now. We could write our wills in the dust around here! I can do a little bit, Bill tries but all he can see is vacuuming (and he's not that good but don't tell him I said that!), so my friend suggested we call "Lulu". I'm also hoping today to be able to get into my sewing room again. KTVC is still waiting for me on my work table, plus I need to make more 6-pod sections for my CW's. With all this sitting around I've been doing, I'm kind of burning through them. Takes me about 4-5 hours to hand stitch out a section. This is going to be one of those projects that I'll be so glad to finally finish, but I'm going to miss it.

I'm going to make a stew today in the crockpot. We'll take some of it to our friends in Oly tomorrow, and we'll have some for ourselves tonite. I should make Chickie's Baking Powder Biscuits to go with. We'll see how the afternoon goes.

Wishing everyone a happy Monday! A brand new week!

Good morning early birds...I was up at 6 and you all still beat me. I am headed out this morning to have fasting blood work done I was supposed to have it done a month ago and forgot. So I will have it done this morning and tell the dr appt this afternoon that I forgot...He will get it all in a couple of days and can call me if he needs...my blood work usually is ok. for an old lady, I will come home and have my coffee and work on my KTVC quilt. I have not finished all the blocks but started to cut everything out for the finished top to make sure I have enough fabric,,,,getting down to the last pieces and seeing the kit fabric get smaller gave me pause so I decided to cut all the remaining pieces and bag them up just to make sure all is well....
Dr appt ( wellness check) this afternoon, I think these check ups are for those that dont keep regular check ups but now everyone has to have them and I call Waste of time...The minute you break from the medicare questions your Dr can bill for a "regular" visit, and we always break into other areas of my health, and they are usually benign questions or minor concerns, But they insist on these annual check ups even though i have a regular annual check up also....today my dr will order my mamo for november, and this year a dexascan...I am anxious about that to see how my bones are doing,
well I need to go the longer I wait the fast has to last....Hope you all have a great day, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Diane I love that angry Eagle panel and yes it is a good masculine quilt. We are doing a mans quilt and a ladies right now...
Maryz It took me 18 yrs to finish my cathederal window quilt and it is a lot smaller than yours...you are wizzong through it,,,
Lois Hope your machine can be fixed and gets back to you soon,,,

Good Morning Everyone!

Happy Monday!! Hard to believe we are creeping up on the end of September already!! Yikes..

Lois... Your machine has to go all the way to UTAH??? Hope they can fix it up and send it right back to you!!! How do you crawl out of bed at 4am and have presence of mind to log on here!! I might be awake that early, but only to walk the 3 feet to my bathroom, then crawl right back in bed!!!

Diane... How is your arm doing? Were you able to get back to the dr to ask about it? Is it just stretching it straight up that hurts? Like muscles inside? Have you been able to do much QOV sewing since your surgery?

Maryz.... Yes, that's one downside of the steroid.... insomnia. Hope that side effect fades quickly tho--I know you have trouble sleeping as it is! November 30th---mark your calendar... The Seahawks play the Vikings!!!

Judi.... Hope all your blood work comes out clear. It does get confusing to have to do the MEDICARE check up and then a real appointment. The Medicare appointment seems like it's just a couple questions --" do you feel safe in your home" etc etc. But like you, I also make a regular appointment for labs and to have the Dr. renew all my meds. I need one of the dexascans too--probably should have done it when I had mammo--as they are in the same building! Oh well. Hope you see some good results from your injections!!

Chriss... We are counter top sisters!!! I looked at the swatch you picked out and it's pretty close to one I would pick!! I got my estimate in my email this morning.... I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't as much as I would have guessed. Did you get your sink at Lowes? I'm considering a single tub sink, even tho they are a bit pricier! I suppose you can't drive until you go back for your check up! Did they have a big birthday party for Elliott---with cake all over his face? That's the best!!

Lori... Just for grins... I googled Dog Under My Desk... There are some really cute patterns there. Have you ever seen the website "Sweet Red Poppy"? It has some cute patterns too.
It is kind of fun having a dog around---but it's kind of like having a baby around too--I'll be ok with sending her back to her "parents".

Guess I better get in gear. I made a big pot of Chille yesterday and since the pan soaked over night--it's time to clean it up!! Then I'm off to the sewing room. Cut out about 10 pair of fleece mittens over the weekend and would like to get them sewn so I can move on to something else!

Wishing you all a Marvelous Monday

Good morning!

Looking to be a very nice day. Small thunderstorm last night. A good thing. I've cut back all the watering on my yard, getting ready to winterize the irrigation system. That's draining the system 5o prevent the pipes from freezing over the winter.

No word from my Daniel. But I assume he's home. Last I heard from him was he needed a phone number that we had.

I have a list of errands a mile long, maybe even 2 miles long! Banks, smog, grocery stores. Then a bunch of uglies too. Hopefully I get in the Batt Cave too.

The new little has a probable name already picked out. Not my cup of tea! Enoch Michael. I keep suggesting something better than Enoch, but haven't yet succeeded. If the little bugger get tagged with that name, no problem for grandma, I'll just give him a nickname and call him that. He won't even know he's named after Matt's big truck!

This upcoming weekend is the Princess Pageant that my Logan and Tanner help with. This Pageant is for young ladies with disabilities to be treated as princesses. Logan and Tanner each dress up as a type of a prince charming. Logan , this year, I think is the Beast, from Beauty and the Beast and Tanner is Christoph from Frozen. Tanner let his blonde hair grow out to be shaggy like the character. He hates his hair long and right after he's done, they're stopping to get it cut. My boys, escort the girls around, fussing over them and dancing with them too. Lots of fun.

Lois - I thought that your machine would be heading here. The Grace company has been in Utah for many years. My first hand quilting frame was made by them. It lives at Sarah's house now. I bought it more than 25 years ago. Hauled it to California and back here again! On a roof rack, wrapped in a blue tarp.

Well, rime to get feeding over, then errands ran,

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning my friends, what a wonderful day it's going to be today.

Today is paperwork day here. Figuring out the medical bills. I think it will require a spreadsheet. I may just see if I can clean the toilets and would really like to wash my bedding. If I can do my toilets I can go do my dad's.

Lori, they say it will be hot or cold or rainy here too, but I think they just blindly pull a slip of paper out of a hat and report that as the weather. I also like to watch the birds. We have some beautiful little blue birds with a bit of orangish red on their chests. And yesterday I purposely watered a tree longer than usual because a blue jay was frolicking in the water.

Lois, hope that machine comes back all shiny and ready to sew

Maryz, If I lived closer I'd come have a bowl of that stew. Nice to have someone come help with the cleaning. I am going to spread mine out over the week so I don't do too much in one day. Although my mind says I can do it all in a day, I'm not going to chance it. Yes, lets hope for a big wind to tackle those leaves.

Judi, I was also up at 6am, but my 6 isn't the same as your 6. My annual appointment with my doctor is next month. But I think I am going to skip the mammo this year. I want to be sure nothing interferes with the healing of my surgery site.

Flo, I also have microwave issues. The one I picked to go over the stove is way too big. One day a range hood will be installed in it's place and a built in counter top type will go in the hole where my wall oven is now. As my dad says, it's just work.

Maryq, I am so glad your countertop bid is going to work for you. How cool is that. I'm thinking about painting my cabinets grey and adding brushed nickel handles. Everything here is brass and oak, I am tired of brass and oak. I had thought about a single bowl sink but I wash dishes and need a way to rinse them and not have to keep emptying the sink. This is the sink I picked. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Ruvati-Ruvati- ... 5000215315

Jana, sorry, I am not cleared to drive yet, can't help you with your errands, said with a Yay me smile. I'm in agreement about Enoch. but you are right, there is surely to be a nickname in that baby's future.

I need breakfast, but what? Dinner last night was steak and a baked potato, I only ate half, tonight will be the other half. Moose loves steak night because there is always a bone in it for him. He eats it outside until the bone is clean, then he can bring it inside. But, if he needs to go out he takes the bone with him. Guess he's afraid I might steal it. The novelty wears off after a day or two.

You girls have a groovy day,
Chriss

Cooler day, only 63°. It was 41° when I got up and realized that I hadn't brought my 3 outdoor plants in last evening. Oops!!

Jana, Thank you for the information. I appreciate it very much.

Lois, I know exactly where West Jordan, UT, is. I lived there from 1985 to 1992. Hope your machine is fixed quickly.

Diane, I hope the arm is getting better.

MaryZ, Sorry you are sleepless in almost Seattle. Yes, Kaylyn will be leading the trail ride. As for El's books, I have several, all still in boxes in the Cabin.

Flo, Early visitors don't realize how they mess up one's planning on their original arrival date. I hope the microwave install
goes well.

Chriss, I like your countertop pick.

We've never had a 'Medicare' check up. Maybe that will change when and if I can find a Dr in Texas.

I was going to go down the Mtn on errands today, but weather will be nice enough that I'm going to try and wash some windows. I bought a squeegee to see if it makes the job easier, and it has been delivered.
Hope y'all have a good day.
Lyn

I watched Charlie Kirk's memorial service as I sewed. Erika Kirk is a good Christian role model for girls and young women. Better than some of these actresses and singers. I'll get off my soap box now.
