Good morning Lois, Sounds like a good day to stay un and sew, but housework is ok too. I will head down to the kitchen and tidy up the place, I should mop the floors too.
Not sure what to stitch in the sewing room but that Jane Austen quilt is really tugging at me. What I will do is get a project bag going and start to get fabric together for that project, I am thinking dead of winter when it is too cold to go anywhere that will be my project. Right now I might just start the Christmas vintage and put away the hand stuff for awhile. It will be handy if i need to sit and stitch by hand though. Fed ex did a fantastic job of printing the pattern on high quality paper so it is just like a book without the binding, I am using a binder clip to keep it together.
Off I go to get some stuff done,
Last night Ken wanted chinese so we headed over to our favorite chinese place to order and they are closed permantently...BOO HOO....BUT we google other chinese restuarants and there was a new one not far away, We took a chance and the food was so delicious...everything we ordered was above and the prices were good too,,,we have plenty of leftovers for tonight, And Ken ordered his favorite soup for his lunch today,,,he will heat that up for lunch at the rink. Hey it gives me more time to sew what is bad about that? Have a wonderful day XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning

Chriss - I hope you get the call backs you want today. Will your dad fix your recliner today while you take your step-mom to the hairdresser? Nice that that is something she totally enjoys. Sorry, but I love coconut. Coconut and vanilla are the only two foody scents that I like in lotions, shampoos, etc. Fruity stuff kind of takes me back to hospital stays when a friend brought me peach lotion. But I mainly stay with Dove everything. And who doesn't feel a little better with some new clothes hanging in their closet! Most of my clothes come from thrift shops, too. A couple of years ago I bought two new blouses from real stores. $120! For just two blouses! And then after just one or two washings they didn't fit right so I didn't wear them any more and finally gave them away. I could have bought an entire new, already washed wardrobe for that $120.

VAL - what are you having done at the dentist tomorrow? I hope your mammo results come in soon. With your close family history, I'd have a mammo done every year. There does seem to be a lot of omens that maybe you are meant to postpone your trip. Did they check your turbo in the truck? Is it OK? Did the bullet ever show up?

MARY Q- I looked up English springer spaniels. Females run about 40#. Plus - what female doesn't fudge on their weight just a little bit. Though I know I still weigh 120# myself!
Glad you finally got your mammo appt! I get reminders every year. And I never, ever skip a year! The last statistic I read said that only one in every nine patients with breast cancer have a family history of it. What are you doing with flamingos?

LOIS - I have no idea what a fabric reader is but I'm glad Grace Co. is sending you a new one. In the mean time, what is keeping you busy? Is your rain from Erin or is it just generic rain?

DIANE - great public service announcement! My paternal GM died of breast ca. Ten years before I was born. Best thoughts to your DH as he goes through more treatment. I hope you get released from "jail" today. Has Erin passed you by?

LORI - sorry there were no classes tempting you for R2C but now you get to just go and drift around and enjoy it all - no school to attend!

LYN - glad you got the parking spot you were hoping for. You must have overnighted in a truck stop or a casino? They work well for quick "sleep" stops. Unless a refrigeration truck happens to cozy up to you! Where to tonite?

JANA - how did Mr. G's appt go yesterday? DI will be glad to have your donations! My sister and I have made many visits to DI in Richfield, UT. It's one of our favorite stores! Congratulations to Kate! I know she has a beautiful voice. Any more news on the new baby?

JUDI - I like your backing fabric for your Christmas quilt. Not sure what I'll back mine with. I'll figure that out later - next spring, probably. Your UP trip is coming up soon! What day will you be leaving? Sorry I keep forgetting. Your new project is ambitious. You should get many hours, weeks, months? of enjoyment out of that one! And it's going to be gorgeous! Between it and VC, we have you all 'sewn up' for winter! Nice that you found a new favorite Chinese restaurant. Neither of us are big on Chinese, though we like some things - almost chicken, sweet'n'sour, BBQ pork......

FLO - sending healing thoughts with your son today as he sees his surgeon. How did first day of school go?

I'm STILL itching! Quite some impressive rashes I have on my arms and legs. They mostly itch at night. Yesterday I got binding and label on my QOV. Now I need to take some photos of it as soon as the light is better, then wrap it up. Decided we will give it to Lee about Sept 1st. His birthday is Sept 4th. They are leaving again Sept 2nd for another 2-week camping trip. We will be gone (Sept 13) when they come back from this trip. They will hang out here for the most part until after Christmas. And we'll be home again about Jan 29. I had a different P.T. yesterday and she worked me over pretty good. But with good results. And she gave me a sheet of exercises to do. Today - a few chores, maybe one load of laundry, and 30 more CW pods to make. I still need to make about 140 more pods after that. They are the only sewing project I have going on right now. My back up Bernie, "Stitch", is ready to come home from the spa but my good Bernie, "Chip", just doesn't sound right since he was as the spa last month. Usually he just purrs, especially after service, but this time he sounds too "mechanical". Kind of like something is thrashing around in there. So he's going back for a re-check when we pick up Stitch. Hopefully that's on today's agenda. Maybe he had a different service tech this time. He is going south with us so he needs to be in top form!

Hey! If you get the BLOCK magazine, did you happen to notice they printed a photo of my LOTR quilt? I am so planning to let this go straight to my head! Supper tonite will be salisbury steak, boiled potatoes, gravy. And broccoli and salad. It's already been heartily approved by HOH.

Have a super day!

Good morning!

Looks like another record heat day here. Then we start falling and probably won't see another triple digit day.

Mr G has a new Dr added to our staff! I think we are at 7. She's a hematology specialist, dealing with cancer markers in the blood. Yup, we've got those, listed as a pre÷'cancer marker. It's a mile longer name and a very slim chance of turning not cancer, that's good. But she wants a full-body CT scan to see all the marrow and where the problem marker is dwelling. That's being scheduled. And a iron infusion is also in the scheduling process. Mr G's iron levels are extremely low and this will jump start bringing the iron back to a correct level. The Dr thinks that one infusion will be all that's needed. So that now is added to our plate of issues to deal with. Some of the treatment will be done here, locally, so no trips up to the main hospital in SLC. And the Huntsman Cancer center. Daniel is currently working on a new research facility at the Huntsman Center. Hospitals and schools are his specialty. So many rules and requirements in their design that he knows!

All the grands are officially back in school. Here has been start days, break, and now they go every day. Ethan's cello orchestra, after school, will start in a week or so. He will also join as one of his classes here, the school's orchestra. He's far beyond in playing ability of a public school orchestra, that he'll mentor the other cello players. That will be good for him. Tanner is trying out for the basketball team. Here, 9th grade is still middle school, but plays in a high school league level. So we'll see what happens there. Logan, starts part of his day in a special training program for fire fighting. Then goes over to his high school for regular classes. Busy, busy, busy!

Still putting my house back in order. Almost there. A few electrical hookups and boundary strips to put back, to keep my vacuum in bounds.

I awhile ago, purchased a fun collage frame, which i will fill from the big boards from the party. It holds 24 pictures. That's part of today's to do list. Really would like tobe in the Batt Cave.

Daniel's friend, who did my wood floors is moving back from Iowa to California. Daniel is helping the move and if I want to do the stairs in wood, that's a possibility. Currently the stairs are rugged. Thinking.... oh the rug is being changed to new, so it could be a wooden rug!

Do something fun!

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning from Salem, SD. Looks like a good travel day.

MaryZ, We had stayed at the Walmart in Fergus Falls. The parking lot furthest away from the building has signs that say, No Semi parking, yet there they are. When I went in the store to check with a manager about parking overnight, I asked about the signs. She said, we had to put them up to make the big wigs happy, but we want the truckers to stop and spend money. I can just picture the manager thumbing his nose as he hangs the phone up after the conversation.

We are at Dakota Sunset RV Park near Salem, SD. I used to recommend this park, but won't and won't come back. Last year the owners told me it was for sale, they wanted to retire. Well, it sold and now is online res only, no one in the office and yesterday I found out that there's not even a maintenance person here. Pulled into same site we've had many times before and there's a big dead tree branch hanging out. I pulled onto grass but when I put the slide out, it would have hit. I called and finally got a guy on the phone who told me no one was here and he's in another state! So, I bunji corded the branch to another big branch. Today when we leave, I will pull out and then retrieve my cord and pull the branch down. I don't know what kind of tree it is, but all the branches grow straight up out of the ground.

Valerie, I know you probably have your stops planned, but I would suggest a stop at Wall Drug east of Rapid City and a drive by of the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD, it's worth seeing.

Today were going to Valentine, NE. Tag axle has only leaked a tiny bit, not enough to have to add oil.

Hope you can play with fabric.

Good sunny morning.
Erin is remaining over 200 miles in the ocean. We'll get some of the winds but no hurricane wnds or rain. We are about 2 miles from the beach as the crow flies. Or about 10-15 miles by car. Close but safe close but mother nature is in charge. I have the surgeon today at 1:30 and the building is close to the beach (2 blocks) so we'll check it out.

FLO-hope your son visit goes well. It s so hard to see my 'kids" when they are hurt. Joe is 55 and Dawn 52.
In my heart I just see them as little children that need that special kiss on their boo-boos. Keep strong.

Prayers for those in need.
Diane

Diane, glad Erin is staying out to sea.

Lyn, that's disappointing about the camp site. I would think you would need a caretaker at least close by the site.

Jana, sorry you had to add another doctor. I bet the kiddos are glad to be back at school playing with their friends. How long has Ethan been playing the Cello? Seems like if they start young, they pick it up quickly.

Maryz, glad the therapy is helping. Sounds like you are zipping though those CW foundations. I really like taking classes, but I want to learn a new thing when I do. Did you try taking Benadryl or something similar? I take Zyrtec when I'm itchy. It works really well, but make me sleepy.

Judi, that Austin quilt is really pretty. I can see why you couldn't resist it. Bummer about your favorite Chinese place, buy you found a new one in the process. Our favorite one closed, and we haven't found one we really like since.

Chriss, hope you are taking it easy. Will you be seeing the little guy this week?

Valerie, sounds like things are moving right along with the trip. You have had a lot of obstacles along the way though.

Maryq, I will send the pattern your way when I find it. It's buried under a bunch of stuff on my cutting table.

We walked early due to the heat. It's already 75 and sunny. Supposed to get up to mid 90's for the next 5 days. I still have the house open, but will close up soon. I'm quilting my Halloween top. I decided to do some fun stuff with it so it's taking a bit longer. Dinner will be chicken and fried rice.

Have a lovely day.

Good morning. This is the last day we get to stay in double digits until next weekend. But thankfully, I live indoors and have A/C.

The parents will be here this morning. I will take Judy to get her hair done. Dad will look at my recliner to see if he can remove the bolt. I've got one load of wash drying on the line.

School started today, I am going to enjoy hearing the kids say the pledge in the mornings. If I really pay attention and have the windows open I can hear them, if my windows are shut I don't.

Like yesterday, today will be a relax day. My surgery has been approved. I have the results from my cat scan. Just waiting on the date. My surgeon's office is supposed to call me today with more information. Hoping I can move forward soon. From reading my report I found out I have a bicuspid valve. AI tells me that only about 2% of the population has bicuspid valves, guess that makes me special.

Lois, I remember when you sent that pocket prayer square to Jerry. He really liked it and kept it in his pajama bottom pocket. He was surprised that someone who didn't even know him would think of him. Thanks for that, it is a special memory for me.

Judi, I should also mop my floor, but I just don't seem to be doing it. Perhaps today, perhaps not. I haven't had Chinese food in forever. We had two Chinese restaurants in town; they were owned by Chinese brothers who didn't speak to each other. One is long gone, and the other is being run by the kids or perhaps the grandkids. Every time my grandma came to town she wanted to go have Chinese, and we did.

Maryz, sounds like September first is a great day for a birthday celebration. Will there be cake? I vote for carrot cake. Sorry about the itching, hope it quits soon. I thought I saw fireworks in your direction. Nope, didn't see the LOTR in the Block magazine but I knew something was up. Yay you, what fun. Tell ya' what. I'll let you keep the coconut and vanilla but I am eating fish. We just will refrain when we are together. Deal? I have found that my thrift store purchases are mostly tops. And lately they have been Sonoma brand called Every Day Tshirts. For me they are perfect.

Jana, ooohhhh, a wooden rug, what will they invent next. I vote for wood as long as no one has fall issues. And speaking of fall, I am sure hoping it shows up here soon. I have oak leaf covered ground but am not raking or blowing leaves any time soon. Would be nice if it would cool down. I think it's wonderful that Mr. G gets a scan, things can show up that you didn't even know existed. and they can be addressed.

Lyn, you are making good travel time. Sorry the park wasn't what you remembered, thankfully that is now behind you. safe travels.

Diane, glad you are safe from the storm.

Lori, I also try to get outside things done early, the cool mornings don't last too long, but that will change soon. I'm not making any plans to go anywhere until after my surgery. I'm not supposed to lift too much weight, and Elliott is over that limit. I am not even sure if I will go see him in the diaper derby. I can't not hold him. I love your todo list idea. maybe I will do the same.

I have meatloaf thawing and will cook that for dinner tonight. I might go to the farmers market but don't want to go to dinner. I've been eating wrong lately and have gained almost 10 pounds. Time to straighten up and do this right.

You girls have a great day,
Chriss

OK all y'all,

I went and looked at that Jane Austen quilt and showed it to my cohort in crime. So guess what, I ordered a kit and Sarah and I will carefully cut and share fabric, buying what we need more for her too. So, y'all are bad influences on me! 😀😃 Sarah and I will start this one right away and stay up with the sew along. Well, just as soon as the kit arrives. It only started last week. Sarah is a big fan of Jane Austen.
