Morning
Life just took a bad turn here. DS1 went back to work Thursday because DDIL doing well enough after kidney stone surgery., well in February he had a port put in in case he needs dialysis in future. He has a congenital kidney thing. Thursday night he herniated his port. So we were up at 4am for Jie to drive 7hrs to DS1 terminal to pick him up. DS1 sees his surgeon this week. DS1 will be off about 6 weeks. Not sure if DS1 will be able to drive over the road again when healed. Please keep Duane in your prayers. This mom is worried.

Good morning Flo sorry to hear about your son I will pray for him. Sounds like he needs lots.
It is a bright sunny day here, high in the 80s again, We could use some rain and maybe tonight,
I did spend the day yesterday inbetween doggie duty and cooking, I did a lot of blocks on the honeycomb quilt. I am prepping all the blocks for embroidery, Then I will pick up this hand work as I have a few minutes,,It is a quilt i want to finish but it maybe a long time coming. there are some motifs that are super complicted and I will skip them for the simpler, I am by no means a great embroiderer, But I love the hand work. I didnt get much house work done yesterday so I will need to do somemore today,
Ken is feeling better after 2 days of "the plague" he had to go solve a problem at the rink this morning,
I need to feed the pups and pack up their stuff as the kids are on their way home ...the velcro dogs will be home with their family. Liam and Nolan are coming to pick them up. Colleen and Jeff will go straight home. It should be interesting, for the pups to see the boys, Liam has to take down the gate and fenced in yard as thy need it at their house.
ope you all hve a great weeknd, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good sunny morning to all.

FLO--Prayers being sent for you and your family. You have such strength that you amaze me!!
You're the eveready bunny but in human form.

I wrote a letter to the address the quilt was del'd to. Joe will drive me there around 11 in the hope that someone is there if not I'll leave it in the mail box. Fingers crossed.
I'll check back later and I hope that I have good news.

Good morning,

My computer screen is still flickering at me. Bill says the connection between my screen and the rest of the laptop is 'compromised' - wire breaking or some such thing that apparently he feels isn't fixable. Double rats!

FLO - so sorry to hear about your son. This sounds serious. Glad Joe was able to go fetch him home. And that he wasn't 2,000 miles away. Will pray things all work out OK. Maybe it's a good thing if he comes off the road. Seems like your DIL needs him at home and it's probably better for his health.

JUDI - everybody's vacation is over - Colleen's, the puppies, Ken's. And now yours is just beginning! I love hand work, too. Though my hands aren't fans any more. I'm going to have to dig out my old braces I think. Do you do any yarn work? Knit? Crochet? I CAN crochet, but I've never made much of anything that's useful - thread snowflakes to hang in the window in the winter is about all. And one afghan about 53 years ago. That's it.

CHRISS - glad your doctor reminded you that you DO have a problem even if it doesn't feel like it. Take it easy girl! Time to get out that long lost cross-stitch, some books, and some movies. Or maybe even sew on a small, easy project. Let the house go for now. If it's like mine, the dog hair ain't going anywhere. We were going to buy new furniture, too. Our two living room loveseats - white with flowers - are 25 years old and desperately need replacing. If the developer that wants our property hasn't spoken up by the time we come home from TX in Feb, then we're going shopping! But you definitely need to sit on new stuff before buying. Take a book. Settle in. You can't really tell by a 2-min sit. But nothing says you can't shop to see what style you like. That's half the shopping battle. And it's a quiet, fun activity that should please your cardiologist.

JANA - - Happy party day!!! Hope your weather is better for an outdoor party than ours. L&L are going to an outdoor wedding today and it's been storming, blowing, raining for past 36 hours. Supposed to clear off this afternoon though. We only have 3 smoke detectors in our house. In the upstairs hallway and right outside our bedroom in the downstairs hallway. And a third one in the family room. They give off a nightlight if they detect us walking in the dark, plus they are connected to our trailer's smoke detector. So if the fifth=wheel were to catch fire while in our yard, our house detectors would alert us. Kinda fancy! And we do have them in our trailer, too.

LORI - I looked up Scrap Vortex quilt. It kind of looks like a crumb quilt. If I was looking at the right quilt. Certainly does use up the scraps! Kind of fascinating. And sort of fun. A little bit tempting. Are you making a quilt? My scrap bin hasn't recovered yet from the crazy quilt I did a few years ago.

MARY Q - I think by the time I finish my CW you are going to recognize a lot of my prints. Judi will, too, I think! Did you get your apron sashes all ready to go yesterday? I've gotten to where I really don't like garment sewing any more, myself. My tech department seems to be intimating that I will be laptop shopping again soon. This one is pretty cheap because all I use it for is chatting with all y'all. Didn't need a fancy one.

DIANE - How are you feeling? How is your DH feeling? How goes the Great Package Hunt? I hope you can connect with the new residents and find out what happened. Send me a message when you know! I sent you my phone # via a PM.

LOIS - are you home? What's happening in your life?

VAL = you have so much going on in your life. It's hard to keep up with you, but I try. What's the latest?

Yesterday I finally received my Vintage Christmas kit. So far, not tempted to get started on it, just to check out the booklet. I prepped a bunch more white bases for my CW and will probably do some more of that today. If I get this quilt to 60"x60", it will take 275 of these bases. I've made 40 so far. Each one starts with a 9" square that gets sewn, ironed, and folded into a 4" square. I sew them together in sections of 6 so they are easier to work with when I hand stitch on the colored squares. I'll sew the sections together as I go along. BLOCK magazine e-mailed me - the put out a call a few months ago for submissions from their readers - pictures of quilts they've done. I sent in pictures of my New York Beauty and they notified me that are putting them in their next issue! yay! I can't wait to see! And for this, I get an extra copy of this issue. Sweet! Last year they printed some of Chickie's projects.

Bill loaded Lee's quilt yesterday and will start quilting it today. We've decided to give it to him as a birthday gift. His birthday is Sept 4 though they are leaving again on Sept 2 so the grand presentation will be Sept 1-ish. When it's finished, we'll dust the LA frame & table, clean and oil the machine, unplug it, and cover the whole thing with old sheets and put it to bed for the winter.

I made homemade pizza last night for supper and invited "the neighbors" over to share. A nice visit with them, and as a bonus, a Seahawks preseason game was on so we watched the first half of that. Tonite's supper, I think is going to be pierogis in an alfredo sauce - but frozen ones, not homemade like Judi's. Or - the last of our beef burgandy that I froze a few weeks ago. I'll give Bill some choices. It's time we start eating down our freezer.

Hope the weekend all goes well. Prayers said for Chriss, Diane, Flo's family, Val's BIL, and anyone else who needs them. God bless.

Not sure what is happening. I accidentally posted today's post on yesterday's thread. When I try to move it, it takes me to Maryz's post.

Will just ADD DBIL has appt August 26 to have the skin cancers removed and August 28 with the vascular surgeon. No word from the GI guy.

Good morning. It's going to be another beautiful day today. We will see triple digits later in the week.

Today's plan is so sit on my but and only get up when I am hungry or Moose needs to go outside. I'll walk up and down the hall a bit but when it's time to go get the mail I will drive. I heard my cardiologist loud and clear and saw the look on his face when I said I moved furniture.

Got an email that says my surgery is approved from my insurance. The way I read it I am given one day. I don't know if that means the surgery can only last a day or if they actually think one day in the hospital. I'll have to clarify. Why can't everyone in the medical field just dumb it down and speak English? I'll worry about it later.

Valerie, I will also be running my a/c almost constantly. I only have electrical on my PG&E bill. I use propane for everything else. But I am on the balanced payment plan where they average my bill and year round I pay the same amount. I also have the Medical baseline discount and the care discount. I had a 1600p but sold it. I'm not buying another machine, but I do like to look at them and wish.

Flo, prayers said for your son and his mom.

Judi, boy I'm impressed with Ken, he can survive the very worst. Will you miss the velcro dogs when they leave? It will be good to see the kids. I'm not great at embroidery either but I bet your quilt is going to be really nice.

Diane, nice that you can drive over and check about the quilt. Hope it's good news.

Maryz, yay for getting the VCQ in the mail. Have you got it cut out and put together yet? Does Lee know about the quilt, I bet he loves it. I also have an inexpensive laptop for my computer needs. It's my third one. The first one sparked and I just took it outside because I didn't want it to catch fire. The second one wasn't very old but slowed down, I reset it and sent it to Marilyn and bought the one I am using now. I like it but wish the touch pad wasn't as big as it is. I will take it easy, I even see a nap happening during my day today. I know I've overdone it.

I do have plenty of things to keep me busy while sitting here doing nothing. Monday is my CAT scan. They will scan from my neck to my tush. I will also wait (but I won't wait too long before asking) to hear from the doctor to see when my surgery is. He has to read the cat scan first. Kind of seems like it's taking forever but on May 9th, this all started, I have seen three specialists and two of my three issues are resolved, the third will likely be resolved this month. It's good to be me.

Yesterday dad got burgers from In and Out, that was my late lunch, early dinner. I had a peach and some cottage cheese. So tonight I will have my spaghetti sauce with zucchini noodles.

You girls have a fab day

Good morning!

Looking like the weather will hold out. Hope hope hope! But we'll see come 2 pm this afternoon. That's when the thunderstorms have heated up over the mountains behind me and then it may sprnkle. Most storms do go a bit north, towards West Jordan and miss my house.

I have my marching orders. Put my feet up in my recliner and stay out of the way.! I can do that, very well. My kitchen is covered in boxes and flowers. I was given strict orders not to look in the bones. I've been good! No peeking! Thought about getting vout my tea kettle and making it look like I steamed the tape, just to tease Sarah. πŸ€” All I can see are baby's breath and daisies that will go into quart wide mouth mason jars on the tables. Sarah wants the jars to can with after this is done.

So I'm ready, not! But at least my hair is in curlers, ready to comb out later. Matt did the chicken, and Aaron did the pork and brisket. I'm hungry! But still can eat stuff.

My newest grandson, Michael, Stu's roommate, is doing the pictures. Ethan made the music Playlist and kept texting me, what about this song or that song. Gave him a bunch. Especially 9ne by Alan Jackson, Living on Love. It is so fitting!

Well, Mr G needs food and a haircut. I've been his stylist for all these years,

Hugs,
Jana

Same weather, different day.

Valerie, I saw your today post on yesterday's thread. I never knew who invented A/C but glad he did.

Flo, Prayers for your son. I just looked his new problem, I hope he gets into the Dr quickly.

Chriss, I think MaryZ has a good idea about shopping for furniture. It is relaxing to browse and sit a while here and there. If you buy a couch, recliner and chair with ottoman, you could rotate where you feel like sitting. :D

Jana, Happy Anniversary party! 🎊 Hope y'all have a great day.

MaryZ, Sorry your laptop is causing trouble. Maybe you should just get a new one now, so you don't have to worry about it on the trip. I've never seen smoke detectors like you have, sounds good especially with it reading the 5th wheel detector. Your CW quilt pattern is different than Judi's and I like them both. Yay you for getting quilts into Block magazine! πŸŽ‰

Judi, Good that Ken is better. We take Vitamins C, D3 and NAC aka N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine, to ward off nasty stuff. Seems to work well, but we're not around a lot of people either.

Lori, The Scrap Vortex quilt looks interesting. I see there was a sew along a few years back on one site. When do you plan on starting your house remodeling?

Diane, Hope you find the quilt. Thankful that you are feeling well after surgery. Praying for your upcoming treatments.

MaryQ, I hope your aprons sell out. Wish I had a great new suggestion for craft fair, but the arts & craft fair here a couple weeks ago just had the same stuff.

I had 4# of sliced roast in the freezer that I took out and made beef jerky yesterday. Had the Traeger smoking all day. I'm trying to lower the freezer contents so I don't have as much to haul to the house when we get to Colorado. In the last couple days I've gotten our schedule setup for travel and appts for both MH and boiler installation at the house. I haven't reserved RV Parks yet. Trying to decide if the tag axle will behave to Colorado or just get down the road a ways and see how it goes, then reserve last minute. This time of year most parks should have openings. I've started packing up to leave Monday morning.

Hope everyone has a great day. Prayers where needed.
Lyn

HERE'S VALERIE'S POST.

Good morning, we will be a few degrees cooler today but all in all it will be a warm week. It's 62 now and has been in the 50's early morning. Thank you to Wills Carter who invented air conditioning!

Chriss glad you are able to help your parents out but might want to think about listening to the doctor. Think of the hand work you could do while sitting in your chair. Or you could take up knitting! Are you going to get cardiac rehab following? I wonder if Moose is still wondering where Jerry is? I would look up what a used machine costs before buying. I have a brand new still in the box Janome 1600P which is now going for around $1500. We only paid $800 for it but then I never used it. It's a straight stitch machine.

Jana wondering what your city/county/state regs say about smoke detectors in homes? We just have one but the house is small. We would have to add though if we were going to sell the house.

Lori I am still going through paperwork, a little here and little there. Tossing the stuff with no info on it and putting things with acct numbers ect in a box to take to recology to shred. Then I need to find somewhere else to put my shredder as it is blocked right now so stuff piles up. DH doesn't always think things through when he rearranges things.

Maryq I will be using the AC for the foreseeable future. Why Mother Nature decided to wait until mid August for Summer I do not know. Kids are back to school now that it is hot. Current bill is $321 which is for gas and electric. Gone are the days of $69 in the summer! Uhm wonder if it will rain while I am there? I have almost forgot what that is like.

Maryz I have always thought it would be fun to make a cathedral star quilt. I know a lady who made one completely by hand. I don't recall how long it took her but it was a long time. I will have to look up the pattern and maybe I can start one. Prayers your computer holds on for a bit. DH wants a new one.

Flo it is very difficult to deal with those with Autism and other mental disorders. You must keep yourself safe though. I think having DH around is a good idea.

Diane prayers for your upcoming appointments.

Today will likely be a sew day, probably some running around. Who knows what will come.

Have a great day.

Good Morning Girls

Remember that rain I mentioned that we needed---well it's here! Fine by me!! However it looks like we are in the same rain pattern for the next few days---I'd have been happy with ONE day of rain!!

Flo... Oh so sorry to hear about your son! Will keep him in good thoughts and prayers. I imagine Joe is on the road as we speak, so I'll say a special prayer to St. Christopher for safe travels along his route.

Judi... Glad to hear Ken is feeling better! Is Nolan getting ready to go back to school? At some point some Pharmacy colleges do a "White coat Ceremony" -- but I don't know if they do that 2nd or 3rd year. Does he have an idea which area of pharmacy he'd like to pursue? There are so many now.

Diane,... .It would be great if you found somebody home when you drive by to look for your quilt! Hope they kept it!!!

Maryz.... Didn't get as much done as I thought I would yesterday. Viv came over and we sat and talked for hours! Kris was working from home yesterday, so tom and Viv needed to vacate for a little while as Kris had zoom meetings all morning. Tell Bill to check out a Microsoft Surface. That's what I have that Jen and Dave bought me for Christmas '21. Its a wonderful little lap top and so light and easy to carry around--since I know you like to take yours out on the deck. I think they got it at Best Buy.

Chriss.... Bummer you couldn't fix your recliner! But YEAH you couldn't fix your recliner so you can go buy new furniture!!! I have a couch with built in recliners on each end! Nobody sits on the other end, only one end of the couch is "worn" No room in my living room for more than a couch! I left my other couch at the house-so they have it in their family room! Nice that your Dad is so concerned for you-- I'm wondering if your body will just tell you when it's time to rest. Even if you don't NEED the machine.... it's fun to kind of have an extra one "just in case" I almost bought a 1927 Singer model 99 for $35 the other day, but it had no foot pedal and I couldn't locate the one it would need. Probably for the best!!

Lori.... Me too.. Can't believe Bren and Evie are going off... and I can't believe my son will have an empty nest!!! He's pretending that he isn't going to be sad... but I think when it comes down to it---he'll miss those kids! I'm glad they are going to the same college---so Bren can keep an eye on Evie!!! She gets kind of air brained now and then! OH call me when you want to go furniture shopping... I LOVE it!

Valerie....Thanks for sharing that pattern with me, Y-seams used to scare me, but after we did one for Lotto they are pretty easy! I keep trying to print it out from my phone, but darn, my phone wants me to send put in a password for the printer and I have NO idea what that password is!!!

A couple months ago I bought a fan for my bedroom.... with a little luck the boys are going to come over today sometime and put it up for me. Though I haven't heard from yet. Shawn dropped a sharp knife on his foot last week and has some stitches and is kind of limping around--so we shall see. Poor guy has his wife, his Mother and his MIL all nagging him about taking his ABx--- from now on I'm keeping my mouth shut!

so while I wait for them, I'll do a little clean up around here. It's not terribly hot here, but very muggy so I may have to turn on the AC after all!

Prayers all around this morning...
