Good morning,

We are going to be in the 70's today so that means I will go upstairs and try and sandwich the Minecraft quilt together.

Yesterday after I finished the big bag I cleaned my machine and changed the needle now it's ready for the next sew.

If you can spear a few prayers my daughter inlaws father fell the other day and hurt himself is in the hospital and we all know how prayers help thank you.

Well there is nothing new here enjoy your day.

Good morning it is sunny and 70s right now we will be 83 today. I checked the weather in the upper peenisula and we will be highs in the 60s while we are up there. that is perfect after the heat we have had down here,
Say some prayers for Chrissy1 as she has gone to the hospital to have a mitral valve in her heart repaired. it is supposedly threw an artery in either her groin or her wrist. They will prpobably keep her over night.
I have nothing planned today, Maybe work on the CW and finish that up. I have a bout 6 blocks to go then sewing them by machine to the quilt to finish that up. I have watched a few KT videos for the vintage Christmas quilt and it seems pretty straight forward, No surprises. But she did talk about a spray stabelizer that stiffens the fabric, Terria Magic?? (sp) has anyone heard of it or used it. I will try to look it up later..
I just looked out and it is raining but I see clear skies so it must be a stray shower, we need it though.
We have no further word on my sister in law...She is still on a vent and her kids are not very forth coming with info...Daughter who isnt even with her gave a few medical facts and nothing more...Since my brother died they havent been very close to us at all...they used to visit my parents when they were alive but theiy are gone too so not much communication with them. We are praying for her and hope she recovers...it doesnt sound good.

PS Mickey is doing ok taking a kind of immunotherapy chemo. ( it tries to get your body to fight the cancer cells with your own immune system)
My son with the broken shoulder is still off work but hopes to return to work in the next week or so. He is doing fine...Thank you for the prayers they really help...xxx

We have rain!! I'm loving it! I listened to it through the night and it smells so good outside this morning. It should be showery through to about 2pm today.

LOIS - Sorry to hear of your DIL's father's fall. How old is he? I hope he wasn't badly injured. Plenty of prayers to go around!! As for the Cathedral Windows in the Block magazine - It's from year 2015 if I recall (I have that issue on my work table), and the first time I read that pattern I did the same thing! Shook my head and set it aside. But I do keep going back to look at it and at other CW methods and patterns. And lately I've been watching videos. Some are easier than others. Suddenly I get it! I think. Doesn't mean I know how to do it without directions plastered in front of me, but I do understand the process now. And I haven't yet actually tried any for about 8 years, but when the fabric dust settles in my sewing room from my current two projects, I'll try them again. I do like learning new stuff.

LORI - Our Snickers had a nodule, too, on his side his entire life - a size between a grape and a golf ball. Vet said it wasn't malignant. It never grew but was always there. And I've had a talk with Foxy about allowing unwelcome guests to share his food. When he wakes up and turns over, we're going to have that talk again. Silly cat! But good news - we got a mouse! Bill said it was a fat one (ya think!!) but I didn't look at it myself. I hope he doesn't have a big family.

CHRISS - well, that sucks! I was all geared up for your appointment to happen yesterday and now I have to wait another whole week. But the good news, if you were in imminent danger they would know it from the angiogram and you would have been hustled in right away. At least that's what I would like to believe. And in the meantime - a diaper derby!! What fun!! And a house mouse is way worse than yard squirrels! For sure! We have tons of squirrels - big gray ones in the back yard and little brown ones in the front - they are my yard pets along with a ton of bunnies, birds, and owls. And as long as they stay out of my bird feeder, I like them all.

MARY Q - Yep - good days and bad days for the hips. Yesterday was a fabulous day! And today is starting out pretty good, too. IBU is my drug of choice and it does pretty well if I take it first thing in the morning and again about 12 hours later. It even helps me sleep. I try to take it with a full glass of water or other clear liquid. Nice to have your sibs in a reasonable distance. My DB, Jim, lived 2 miles away and Albert was 70 miles. Gene is 2,500 miles north and my two sisters are 1,400 miles. We all make efforts to get together but it doesn't happen nearly as often as I would like it to. Did you see the sweet baby quilt pattern QIAD had on sale yesterday? Kind of a cross between small pinwheels/chandelier with a baby elephant appliqued on. I almost bought it but then remembered I have no upcoming babies.

JANA - Wow! Your kids came and did your yardwork for you! Amazing! It's sure good to be you! Your party menu sounds delicious. How many folks do you anticipate attending? I believe moving things to new places is part of dementia. My brother had a terrible time with my SIL. He had to check the garbage thoroughly before he took it out. She threw a lot of stuff in the trash - like his watch, good frying pan, mail. She put sheets behind a curtain in an unused room and he looks for those for days. He laughed a lot because it was that or cry.

VAL - One thing about moving OUT of California, it's quite a bit cheaper to live almost anywhere else in the country. We have friends (oddly, they were named Bill & Mary) who left their tiny 2-bedroom house in Concord, CA and moved to St. Louis and with the money they got from the Concord house bought a 5 bedroom, brick home with a big beautiful yard! When Autumn moved from CA to TX, she took a pay cut, yet her take-home was $400 more a month.

JUDI - Sorry you aren't getting any word on your SIL. I hope you hear something positive soon. So odd they can't at least shoot you a text. But good news on Mickey and on your son! Too bad you couldn't get your car repaired. But fortunately you have a very handy guy in your house! Thinking of Chrissy. Please let us know how she is doing. How is her DH doing with his Parkinsons? Have you succumbed to your next sewing project yet?

LYN - waving hi to you!

Yesterday was another busy day in the sewing and quilting rooms. I have 32 (of 48) blocks done on Lee's QOV. I'm not positive I have enough dark blue to make all 48 blocks, though so I'm cutting very carefully now. I may have to make do with a 6x7 (42 blocks) setting instead of 6x8. I have plenty of the other colors.

My sister who had her hip replacement last Dec fell about a month ago and broke her foot. Turns out she didn't realize at the time that she landed on her new hip and now it's hurting quite a bit. She went to dr, had XR's, and they were sent to her orthopod. She's waiting to hear from him. In the meantime, they are wondering if she is having small TIA's which is causing her to fall so often. She's had tests for that and is waiting on drs to call her back on that, too. She's afraid to use her stairs or to drive. She's 82, which sounds old~ish when talking about other people but not about my sister. But if you could add her to your prayer list, she and I would appreciate it.

I usually wear a crucifix around my neck. I was at Ace the other day and having a hard time standing (low back pain) while they did a lengthy price check. The clerk asked if I was a Christian, so while we waited, she put her hands on mine, and said a healing prayer for me. From that moment I've felt so much better every since!! Prayer is good medicine!

Good morning!

A beautiful day here. Sunny, bright and not outrageously hot. But we can see a very slow cooling trend, heading us into fall.

Today is Mr G's birthday. We'll head out to a Mexican restaurant for dinner tonight. It's a Daniel favorite and he says good food. My favorite for dinner tonight will be a Chile rellano. He's not counting years anymore, but I do, he's 77. He's older than me! oh, we got our marriage license, before his birthday, as he wanted the license to say he was 26, not 27.

Valerie - oh y'all need to get out of Dodge! We are so glad we did 14 years ago! We left during the big housing crash then and still had enough to pay cash for this house. We down sized from a 1350 square foot house to a 4000 square foot house and boy do I have a sewing area! I grew up in Richmond, not a safe place, then Concord got to be not so safe and Vallejo has been that way too! Politicians have tied the hands of law enforcement, not a good thing! My roots run deep in the Bay Area, but I transplanted very well and this is home!

So not much new around here, Sarah and I are heading out for mulch today. Tomorrow Sarah is having a new HVAC installed at her house. The builder put in a undersized system and she has been having problems from the beginning. This will be a mini split heat pump very efficient system. I have one in my basement, works beautifully. Sarah's will be a whole house, main floor and basement.

Good Morning Girls

This will be brief this morning as I need to hop in the shower in a minute.

Today is my annual "take the grand kids back-to-school shopping" day. I started this tradition when Bren started Kindergarten in 2009! He's off to college and doesn't need crayons or spiral notebooks any more Evie will be off to college too, so she won't need much. Corinne and Nolan are high school and probably don't need much. Where we used to use paper and pens, the kids now use computers!

While I wander around Target, I'll think of you all and send lots of prayers for the Father-in-law, Judi's SIL and son and Mickey, Maryz's hips, Diane (Velvet) and anybody else who could just use a little extra comfort and care!

Good Morning!

Judi - Terrial Magic is used in machine embroidery to make the fabric very stiff. I use it when making embroidered labels for quilts. It stiffens the fabric to lightweight cardboard feel. I love it!

I am working on old projects that need quilting.

Thanks too, Carol. Went and researched what it did and looks very useful for my embroidery machine. I have several Kimberbell kits in my upcoming projects stash that I will try it with.

Maryz, glad you had a chat with Foxy about the rodent situation. Molly stopped hunting at about 15. She would crouch down like she was going to attack something, but would never go after it in her later years. We're pretty sure she had kitty dementia. Hope your sister is okay.

Jana, Happy birthday to Mr. G. I've heard they put HVAC in those big homes that are not big enough for the square footage. Builders trying to save money. While you're out getting mulch, will you be stopping by any LQS? I mean since you're out and about anyway. lol

Judi, Chrissy is a fighter, she'll do well. I didn't know there were videos for the KT Christmas. I'll have to check that out. The blocks are pretty simple. I read though the pattern. I'm on to making the pinwheel candies. Super easy.

We walked early because it's going to be hot. It's already in the 70's at 9. I'll close up the house in a bit and turn on the A/C. I need to run the vacuum and dust a bit today. Then I'll be working on the KT Christmas quilt.

Jana, Happy birthday to Mr G. My DBIL has alzheimer's. A book was suggested to my sister and I bought it too. It's title is: The 36-Hour Day, a family guide to caring for people who have Alzheimer disease and other dementia. It's set up so you can look at the Contents list and go right to what you want to read about.

Late afternoon yesterday I went to check on the boat. I love seeing the Loons and God sent a special treat. There were 3 Loons near the boats, mom, dad and not so little baby. Dad stayed at the edge of the marina, while mom and chick hunted right behind the boat. The chick is almost as big as the parents but colors are not the black and white, it was gray tones. We have seen Loons in the bays in Texas in the winter and they change to those gray tones. I took some photos but being cloudy they didn't come out very well.

The weather doesn't look good for the rest of the week and into early next week. Garry doesn't want to go fishing if there's any waves, cause the boat will bounce and his back will just hurt more. So, I'm going to check the trailer tires and find a friend to help me pull the boat.
