CATURDAY, August 2, 2025

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Aug 02, 2025 5:54 am

Good morning,

LORI - thanks for the input on your Bill's laminectomy. Everyone I know who has had this surgery says the same thing, so I'm in no hurry and may never do it. But the hips HAVE to be fixed. Yes, it hurts to walk, especially uphill though I'm still walking 1-2 miles every morning, just not very fast. I start PT Aug 11th and I hope that helps. And IBU and I are getting to be very close friends. Sorry you're having problems with SSA appts. I was lucky. I went to Silverdale, small town to the north instead of the big office in Tacoma. I arrived a bit early and was in and out even before my appt time. I wish you could have the same experience.

MARY Q - You are - or will soon be - off on your family fun & feast fest! Have a wonderful time! I always enjoy times with my siblings. And I'll be with my two sisters in 6-1/2 weeks! I have the QIAD 6" triangle square up ruler. Santa put it in my stocking one year and I didn't pay much attention to it for 2 years. When I finally did, I was thrilled to see how it cut the time in squaring up those HST's. They are still a pain, though, when you have to do 200 of them. My Star Silhouette that I did last year had nearly 1,000 2-1/2" HST's in it. Which is why it took me a few years to make that sucker! But I like the quilt now that it's done.

JANA - sounds like you are all kicking it into high gear to get ready for the party! Two weeks from today, isn't it? Is your mouth still sore at all? Have you met your grand kitties in person yet?

JUDI - How big will your CW be when you are finally finished with it? And how are you putting all your 'windows' together on the back? Hand stitching? Santa ( bless that man!) gave me a set of MSQC circle templates - the small and large - one year. I haven't checked into using them yet but the result in the picture looks a lot like CW's. I should check them out, though it seems a little like cheating.

CHRISS - What will you be doing this weekend?

Yesterday I got 2 comfort quilts quilted and today I plan to bind them and finish binding the ABC quilt. And work on my QOV quilt for Lee. Also, we really should go Costco & grocery shopping. But that may wait until Monday. So, I felt so badly about throwing out what was left of Antonio's "green Army blanket" (as Autumn called it). It was really just old worn out comforter stuffing. So she showed us a picture of what it had been - it was an Army green comforter from West Point. So, feeling so guilty, we ordered a new one and I figured I'd write, stencil, or embroider his name on it someplace. And include a bottle of brandy as an apology. Well, when they were on their trip in June they went to West Point and sent us a photos of Amara running around on the campus. I asked him if it felt good to visit his old alma mater. He said, "No! I hated it!". Well, dang! And we'd just ordered a new "green Army blanket" from there for him! So I guess we'll proceed as planned and give him the new one, only now the brandy will be an apology for GIVING him the blanket, rather than throwing it away! Life is funny sometimes.

Lee thinks they finally fixed his truck - found some brake wires that were caught in a clamp that wasn't placed properly, and it was rubbing up against a wiring harness and shorting out. And it only happened when it was in tow mode. So we'll see how it goes when they come home Aug 13th. And as for our truck, it's still going to be in the shop another week at least. Aug 13 will be 8 months since our accident. And it's been in the shop now for 33 days with another 7 (at least) to go. The hold up was getting the other insurance to OK parts. All for a repair that should be about $5,000. Can you tell there is steam coming out of my ears? Oh well, when we're at home, we can mostly get along with just one vehicle, but the whole experience still frosts my hiney. They are carrying the insurance motto, "Delay, Deny, Defend" just a little too far, in my opinion.

Y'all have a sunny day! 🌞

Good Morning Girls

Just having a little bit of coffee before I jump in the shower and get ready to head north. In Minnesota--it's a thing.... you go "up North" Lots of folks have cabins on various lakes in MN and when you live in "the cities" you got "UP North" for the weekends. My DB Greg just across the street from Lake Mille Lacs which is the biggest lake IN Minnesota. I made a big bowl of potato salad, but kept out about bit of it so I could leave out the eggs.. Greg and my SIL Laurie do NOT eat eggs, but they do love potato salad. Now I just need to find a way to get it there ---as I don't have a cooler big enough. I have to stop at Shawn's house on the way to check on his cat so I'll see if he might have a cooler in his garage.

Just wanted to stop by and wish you all a great weekend. Looks like we are going to have perfect weather for sitting out side! I hope y'all have a wonderful weekend as well!

Good morning!

Another very warm day here and I think my house will be a beehive of activity! My Highlander got booted from the garage, so Daniel could paint the last of the railings. They're heavy and he was being lazy, not wanting to haul them all over across the street. So they're done and in my garage. Aaron will be over today to help haul them back to the deck. Sarah and tribe will be down too. I'm sure that Matt will be here too. Logan has been very busy at work. He's a lifeguard and is now teaching swimming lessons to kids. He's just a kid too, well, a big kid, turning 17 in September.

So my day will be probably, mostly, supervising or just watching the busy bees in the yard.

I haven't met the grandkitties yet. Thought I'd wait for them to settle in at their new house. The kitties had been in a foster care house before we got them. According to Karlie, the kitties are full of hockeysticks! Chasing each other all over the house, up the stairs, back down, then down the stairs to the basement and back again.

Maryz - my oh my! Hip replacement isn't a fun thing! But from what I've heard when it's done, it's a good thing! Glad L&L truck is hopefully fixed. I'm not a Ram fan, too many issues I know of, between all the Rams in this family.

Well, I expect to be invaded anytime,

Hugs,
Jana

Good ladies, busy day today. DH needs a haircut. Need to acquire some groceries. Do a bit of shopping for the trip and I have tickets to the live theater to see Shrek again. DH will go with me this time. I want to get a couple more blocks made for DGS quilt today also.

Going to make a long story short. The neighbors niece was having some sort of diagreement with another girl Thursday night. The other girl and her boyfriend decided a gun needed to be involved. One of the bullets hit DH truck, went through the radiator and hit several other things. Many parts of his truck are electronic. Well needless to say, truck is in the shop, $1000s likely in repairs not to mention the rental car. A police report has been filed and the bullet in the hands of the police. A month before we are to leave. Hoping all can be fixed in time to get the camper shell also put on. And big prayers our insurance will cover at least part of it. The neighbor is having people check their cameras for proof. They know who it was but need that proof. Just by coinsidence, the two girls and DH all work at Discovery Kingdom. The report has also been filed with HR.

As far as DBIL is concerned, his PC has sent a referral to his insurance company for Vascular Surgeon consult and surgery. Should hear by next week, it was sent as urgent.

Maryz so sorry to hear about your health concerns. That's a lot of surgery. Hips are easier than knees if that's any help. LOL, I think your SIL will love the blanket. I have had a laminectomy, was great for 20 or more years but the last 5 or so have been progressively worse. Note, I did not let them fuse any of the vertebrae and think that helped.

Well I am sorry I can't take the time to talk to everybody today but really need to get my day started if I am to get it all done. I will come back in the morning though and see how everyone is.

May all your bobbins be full!
A Friend is God's way of making sure we never walk alone!

Good morning. It's going to be a marvelous day today, next week it's triple digits so it could go from marvelous to great next week.

It's funny, I sit in my living room with my laptop and have the house opened up. The sun comes up over the mountain. The sun moves from left to right and each day comes up just a smidgen to the right of where it came up yesterday. I have three windows in my living room, each has a pull-down shade. I start out with the left most shade pulled halfway up and the other two all the way up to block the sun. Soon the left shade will be all the way up and the middle shade halfway and that will repeat for the third shade. Makes you think that the sun is moving instead of the earth. I love when the sun comes up. My field looks like wheat (it's really just a field of weeds) and when the sun shines on it it looks like gold. But in reality it's full of fox tails that get stuck in your socks and there's probably a snake or two out there somewhere.

Today I would like to tackle my spare room. Just tidy up and get things put in their place. It's where I store my fabric and I would like to go through that sometime as well. I'd also like to finally go through some pictures and sort them out. All mundane tasks that have been put off for quite a long time.

Maryz, sorry the truck is taking so long. I also am planning on going to Costco on Monday. I need only a few things, but will be in town in the morning so I will go then. Funny thing about the blanket, but you're right, life can be funny. See you at Costco Monday.

Flo, ugh, construction clean up. Dad comes here, makes messes, I clean up and he comes back to do it again. Messes seem non ending. What are you BBQ'ing?

Maryq, you could put that potato salad in a ziploc bag for traveling then put the ziploc in a bigger bag of ice. You're going to have a lot of fun, I bet you all laugh till you pee. Safe travels in both directions to you

Jana, lots of activity at your house. what fun to be promoted to the rank of supervisor instead of worker bee.

Judi, Pizza was always the birthday party standard here too. Marilyn would have pizza and cake all from Costco. cheap and filling. Since the water slide is for big kids too will you give it a try? I think an Amazon gift card is the perfect wedding gift. Or anytime gift.

Valerie, Hope the truck is up and running perfectly for your upcoming trip, don't forget to test drive it real good before you leave. Also hope DBIL gets his approval quickly, would be nice if his surgery were before your trip.

Guess it's my turn in the shower. then breakfast. I had a huge dinner last night. Steak, baked potato, mushrooms and onions grilled. Not real hungry yet this morning. Dinner tonight will be steak salad, or taco salad. I have the fixings for both.

Have a marvyday,
Chriss

Maryz, I wonder if your hip problem caused you back problem. When Bill's knee hurts he walks funny and causes his back to go out. I've heard hips are way easier to recover from than knees. It's a bummer both of yours need to be done, but at least it's fixable. I sure hope the kids truck is finally fixed. That would put a big damper on traveling if they continued to have issues. Sure hope they get your truck done soon.

Valerie, well that's quite scarry that the neighbor discharged a weapon and it hit your truck. Were they aiming it at a person? I hope the police removed the gun from said person. If you can get the ballistics report from the police, that's proof. That should be public knowledge. I know you don't really need to be worrying about another thing right now. I love live theatre. Where do you go?

Judi, how is Sophia 15 already? My goodness time goes by so fast.

Jana, glad the railing are done and going to be installed.

Maryq, I hope you are having a fun trip and found a way to transport your potato salad.

Flo, what's on the BBQ today?

Chriss, I bet you had a fun time with Elliott and your son the other day. I find it interesting that we a are constantly moving and don't even feel it. I bet the field looks pretty. It's amazing how much stuff you put into the spare room. I got the closet cleared out and I'll try not to put stuff in there, but that's a tall order.

Jack and I walked, the I went over to a farmers market and go a few things. I need to shower and start my day. Don't know what's in store just yet. We'll have chicken on the grill with something for dinner.

Have a lovely day.

Judy sent a note to me and asked me to share it with everyone. We sent a comfort quilt to Colleen‘s father-in-law who is battling cancer right now. He sent the most beautiful, heartfelt thank-you to all of EL‘s Angels. I posted it for Judi in projects from the Heart section. I hope you all get a chance to read it
