Thursday 6/12

Post by WeSignificant » Thu Jun 12, 2025 6:01 am

Good morning ladies, been having difficulty getting on the site for some reason but it is working for me today. Tuesday was Open Sew, yesterday off and going back to Open Sew today. DH was home yesterday until 5 pm so didn't get to sew as much as I wanted. I have made more progress on my Ryan's Sampler. My car is serviced and groceries bought.

Maryz I think you asked about my route, WE are heading to SD first and will leave there on the 8th and head to my Nephews. He is only 2.5 hours from Maryq so I will get to see her. In person I have only met 2 people from the forum, Chriss and a girl no longer here was Debbie. I don't know what ever happened to her. I guess what ever happened to a bunch of others.

Judi I am not sure I have ever seen a house with as many windows are yours. I have 6 with one sliding door. Can I keep them clean, nope. I am following in your foot steps and not making a stitch book. I agree, there are just too many. I would give anything for a new RV. Ours is just too old and things are starting to go wrong. Now it has a vaccum leak and DH has not been able to find it. They are really pricing here. A motorhome costs more than my house orignally did!

Maryq so happy to talk to you the other night and really looking forward to meeting you. The warehouse sound wonderful, and yes, I am saving up $$$ to spend. My shredding is all piled up again so will get it boxed up and take to the recycle place. They shred it for a price. I need to learn to keep it up so I don't have to keep doing this. It's not horribly expensive but it is not free either.

Jana my Dad was very picky about a pocket. I never really saw him put much in the pocket but he had to have one.

Lyn we are having the same sort of postal service issues here. If I could just get my mail and not everyone elses that would be great! I just do not trust them anymore. I need to leave my machine at the shop, my travel machine that is, one day soon. It just doesn't seem to want to wind bobbins correctly. I have ordered some Janome bobbins and will see if that helps. If not, it will go to the spa.

Today I will work on my Blueberries and Cream quilt. Bringing an extra little some thing to work on in case I get bored. Well That's it for now, off for breakfast and more coffee. Have great day all

Good morning,

Thursday again already! Is it just me or does it seem like time has moved up to warp speed this year?

LYN, I'm glad you got B570QE out and let him breathe! With all those letters and numbers in his name, he makes me think of R2D2. And I tried to text you last night - twice. But my phone says it never went through. But I've found out my phone lies sometimes. If you would like to test my pattern the way I've written it, I would be thrilled. I can scan and e-mail it to you, or does a texted photo work? I hope your supplements turn up soon - in MO with YOU! And yes, we always crack open the door when we open or close our slides for the air displacement. But thanks for the reminder to tell the kids. We also have to check behind the slide before opening it to make sure our big pantry door didn't come open in flight. It happens and if you haven't heard of anyone ripping cabinet doors clean off the hinges with the slide before, now you have. The saddest part is that we've done it more than once!

CHRISS - waving my hand in the air - I get up early! Let Mary Q sleep. I can go to early sales and thrift shops with you! I need nothing, but I consider them entertainment, not shopping. And if I do stumble on something wonderful to buy, all the better! And yes, it's great having Lara home again! In the 6 years they've been gone, we've only seen them three times, about 3 hours each time. I've missed her. It's fun to catch up!

JANA - my DH wears pretty much anything. Short/long sleeves, pocket/no pocket, tees to Hawaiian shirts. Jeans, black jeans, Dockers, slacks. He's easy to dress. So every day you are playing in your Batt Cave. What are you playing? Sewing? Cleaning? Rearranging? Napping?

JUDI - Glad Ken isn't running around in just his whitie tighties any longer! You're a good wife! You know, as expensive as it is to rent an RV, it's still cheaper than owning one. If you really miss camping, you could always rent one for a special trip. But now that you have found Air B&B's, maybe don't miss the RV life quite so much.

MQ - wake up!! Garage sales start early!! And the good stuff is gone by 9am! But who has garage sales on Wednesdays???

LOIS - are you there? Missed you the last few days.

VAL - you will love Mary Q! We parked in her driveway at her old house several years ago and had a great time with her. And she and Sue were both here at our place at the same time - also years ago! We'll be dropping in on her again this trip (and maybe Sue, too!) but will need to find a campground. I don't think MQ has much RV parking in her new place. I am guessing you are taking Interstate 80 to SD? We might drop in on Chickie in SE Kansas after seeing family in CO. I haven't talked to her yet. We've been there before and parked in the pasture with the cows. I grew up with cattle. Love them! My dad was a logger and wore the usual "logger's uniform" - chambray shirt with pocket. He smoked and he rolled his own so the pocket was to hold his pocket can of Prince Albert, which he refilled every morning before he went to the woods. Sometimes the discussions in our forum bring back so many micro details of my childhood!

LORI - if you check in, I'm waving hi to you and hoping you're having a fun time with your friend!

Yesterday was chiropractor, grocery shopping, and shopping at Kohl's. I splurged. On ME! 4 bras, 2 pr sox, a sundress, and earmuffs (on clearance). Not to mention a Strawberry Shortcake tee shirt for Autumn, an outfit for Ms Boots (who is now sporting light up sneakers!), and some clear plastic storage bins for our trailer freezer. I spent enough that I now have $15 in Kohl's cash and I plan to go back next week and pick up another dress I liked but didn't get. When I got home, I was busy in the kitchen until the kids and Bill got home with their home. It's a BIG trailer! But should suit them just fine. They plan to move their stuff in gradually over today and tomorrow. They've paid for their hotel until Sat morning. Then they'll bring their kitty, Elsa, and move her in. After that, I guess they'll just start living here. It's going to be great having them as neighbors! ( And house-sitters!)

Today is a free day for us. No plans, no appointments. Bill has my hexie GMFG almost all quilted. So I guess I'll be making making binding soon. We still have more of that SW Chicken Casserole. It's still good, but I'll be ready for something different tomorrow. It's hard to make it smaller because it calls for a can of this and a can of that, etc. Next time I'll make 2 smaller casseroles and freeze one.

I have a little problem in my sewing room. I'm starting to find tiny black grains of "rice". Which aren't rice! :o I've had a discussion about this with Mr. Foxtrot, but it was obvious I was annoying him. So Bill has stepped in with a trap. Foxy's dry food bowl is in there so maybe I need to move it out. I think I'll put it in Bill's office . . . It has to be someplace out of Scottie's reach. And away from my fabric!!

Wishing you all a rodent-free day!

Hi Marz. I've been reading, just not posting. I've been playing with her long arm machine for 2 days. It's really fun.

I'll be heading home today.
Have a lovely day.

Cloudy, rainy morning.

Valerie, You are right, it's getting more expensive to keep the MH in good running condition. Are y'all planning the trip in the MH or hoteling it?

MaryZ, Sorry the text didn't work. Send the pattern however you can and I will try it. Maybe Foxtrot's food should go away until he gets that fresh meat taken care of.

Chriss, I finally got a look at your stove, it looks like a good one. I have Malwarebytes app on my phone and the VPN, which has something to do in blocking my location was on. I turned it off and the link came right up.

Lori, Safe travels.

I was watching a video of a lady who goes to Amish shops, showing off the quilts and other home made items and one had a wooden plack that said:

I'm not Bossy
I just know what you
Should be doing

I just might print that out with my new embroidery unit and hang it where you know who sees it all the time!

After coffee, I'm going to get the Super Box hooked up. The wayward package is to be delivered today and the free bottle the company sent by FedEx should be here tomorrow. At this point we may leave Sunday, paying for a full week is cheaper than the daily rate.

Hope everyone has a good day.
Lyn

Good morning!

Up, dressed, hair fluffed pretty, and Mr G is fed. I leave in a couple of minutes for a Dr appointment. It's my BP check and it's now averaging about 138/72. We'll find out what he wants to do med wise, change?, we'll see.

The sprinkler guy didn't make it yesterday, so Mr G will be here in case he does. I'm off the hook for the cello lesson today with Ethan. His private teacher has a audition for the Orchestra at Temple Square. That's the big prestigious Orchestra that accompanies the Tabernacle Choir. She is very good!

I will finish up the names today. Good thing I'm slow, the person I'm doing these for, changed one of the names. So I'm good to go now.

Not much else, me, no food, the vampires get their chance at me this morning!

Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning Girls

Up, showered and dressed, tho no place I have to go today! From the looks of my house, I better stay home anyway!

Valerie.... I marked my calendar for our shopping date in September! I too should probably save up some $$$ for a trip to warehouse! On the other hand, you could just probably shop in my garage!  Unfortunately, all my shred stuff has to go in the garbage--our recycling system here won't take shredded paper--which seems a little silly to me!

Maryz... Oh how I wish I had a big driveway for you to park in again!!! Seems like most garage sales now here start on Wednesday. Albertville, the little town next to me is having their annual "Friendly City Days" festival this weekend and plans city wide garage sales. And various housing developments put on their own as well. I did find some more baby girl clothes yesterday!! How fun to have L & L so close by!! Wine and snacks around a bon fire with them sounds absolutely delightful. Did they get a "Foxy" RV like yours?

Jana... I had to giggle a little at Mr. G requiring pockets in his shirts. My Dad never wore a T-shirt, always a sport shirt with pockets and he ALWAYS had a little note pad and pen/pencil in the pocket. He'd draw out pictures/plans for his gardens or some thing he wanted to build. My DB David is the same way--only he carries a little stack of 3x5 index cards in his pockets.

Lyn.... Doesn't it just figure, when you are anxious to get on the road there is some glitch! I've had so many packages go the scenic route to get to me. I had one go to a PO about 12 miles from me and then end up BACK at the Minneapolis Center before it came out to St. Michael again. Garage sales here on Wednesday is kind of a new thing. I think folks decided to start on Wed. because so many folks would drive around and scope out open garages setting up on Wednesday and begging to come shop while folks were setting up! SO they figured--let's just start on Wednesday.

Chriss... Just have never been an early riser---When I worked my boss always gave me a later shift (the Pharmacy was 24/7)! I get up at 8:am because the coffee pot is set to come on at 7:45 and I don't get out of bed until the coffee is done! But between checking in here, (my next step after grabbing a cuppa) and showering, dressing, reading e-mail, checking the news, etc... I never get out of the house before 11. I did get to Peggy's house yesterday at 9:30am and thought that was pretty good!!! They broke ground on a brand new Costco store about 2 miles down the road from me. Maybe I'll have to switch from Sam's to Costco when it opens. If Costco burger is good, I'll have to check it out.

Guess I better get going... several messes to clean up! One of the things I found at a GS yesterday was a big box FULL of all sorts of sewing notions!!! Need finish sorting it out but there were several zipper, tons of buttons (some really cool ones) twill tape, bias tape, beads, lace trims. What I might not use I'll share with Katie--we love sewing stuff!! found a few baby things--will throw them in the wash this morning between other loads! Haven't seen the sewing room for a couple days so for sure will spend some time there today!

Have a most wonderful day and may all your wishes for the day come true!

Good Mornng I was up dressed and hair"fluffed" as jana but I went downstairs to get something out of the pantry and one thing led to another and I cleaned the basement...I am so angry at Ken that he let the mess get so out of hand. But I have it cleaned up,,,I have OCD when it comes to clutter and messes HE knows this...This mornig before he left for the rink, he asked me to run 2 of his errands. I said i would but texted him and told him I was too busy cleaning up his mess and he would have to do them himself.....i havent heard if he will or not. I also fed the birds and watered the porch plants...now I need some down time...
After looking at all the patterns and stitches I only did the ones I thought i might use...there are literally hundreds I may never use,,,but some very interesting patterns..It is amazing what this machine can do compared to the machines of just 10 yrs ago...Yesterday I made my DDIL a new wristlet for her keys...She is able to drive but needs both hands to get herself in and out of her chair...so she wears her keys on her wrist,,,her old one was worn thin, so out of an old purse strap and the old hardware I made her a new one and the Bernie had no problem sewing through several layers of leather,,,I just took it very slow but got her done...I even amazed myself....SOOO! now I am going to make her several ones out of fabric in different holiday fabrics...she can trade off. during the holidays. a while back while cleaning I ran across a box of hardware and key rings I was going to get rid of but I have a use for some of them now,,,
Well I need to get moving again I do have more things to do...Hope your day is filled with fun things,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Home and passed my appointment. Yippee! We called the oral surgeon and he's getting available days working between their calendar and Sarah's. Humm, jumping from one frying pan to another.

Jana, so glad your blood pressure is back to a normal range. Hope you can get in to get you teeth fixed soon.

Lyn, I like that saying too.

Judi, I sometimes run a fancy set of stitches along the bottom of a plain dish towel. I love all the fancy stitches. Bummer about having to clean up a mess you didn't know was there.

Maryq, my grandfather used to always have a pencil or pen and pad in his pocket too. Bill likes t-shirts with pockets. He puts candy in them.

Maryz, I can't believe Mr. Foxy is sharing his food with the enemy. I use the snap traps with peanut butter and it works very well. What the heck is that all about. Happy days for you to have the kids as neighbors.

Valerie, I hope to meet you some day in the near future. I'm planning a trip north the end of October.

Well I'm home and the boys are very happy. Jack has been following me around since I walked in the door. I had fun playing with my friends longarm machine. She hadn't used it yet so we watched some Youtube videos and it was pretty easy. I quilted 2 tops and left one for her to play with. She didn't use the machine at all. We just finished dinner. It was baked potatoes with chili.

Sleep well
