Good Sunday Morning and happy June!

If case some of you didn't see my note late yesterday, Becca made it through her surgery for pacemaker placement and the device is working well. Denise was with her all day at the hospital and they were home last night.

JANA - I will be doing the same thing thing, too, very soon - making a donation run with ugly fabrics, 4 boxes of cookbooks, and other misc. No toys, though. I hope your watering system is fixed now. I think a box labeled "Could Be Useful But Only God Knows When" is a great idea. Stash it under the RR. If it hasn't been opened in 2 years, Off to DI it goes! (Make sure you mark it Mr. G's so it's not confused with YOUR stuff!)

LORI - I was wondering if your Savannah Bananas was something like the Harlem Globetrotters (which I was lucky enough to see about 50 years ago.) That must have been a fun evening for you! And I know my fabrics will get all messed up again as soon as I start pulling some out, but that's the way it goes. At least now they aren't squeezed in so tight they get permanent creases in the folds!

CHRISS - I like Murder she Wrote and Columbo, too. Have you seen the new show, Elspeth? She is kind of a cross between the two of those shows. She's quirky, funny, and colorful. And I hear ya on the dog hair. You've met Scottie - we or his groomer trims his coat about every 3-4 months, but his hair grows to 7" long. Add him and Foxtrot, another long haired beauty, and our carpets and furniture are soon sporting winter coats - in summertime! I should probably either change the animals to beige or the carpets to black. And yes - let's make this year a Get Healthy year! High Five!

LYN - It makes me sad when I give quilts and they are never used. I made all my brothers special quilts. Gene's was a replica of his house, in snow, with the Northern Lights as a backdrop and his semi in the foreground with trees and Alaskan animals. Their quilter friend was there when he opened the package and she tried to tell him he should never use it. And he said no, and it went on his bed immediately! I told him I was glad and if it wore out I'd make him another one. (I sure hope that quilt lasts!). Have a good travel day today. Will you be in MO about a week?

MARY Q - I can't imagine how long it would take you to go through your stash! It's taken me 4 days to do mine and I still need to weed out that big tote of wools. I want to keep a few small pieces but ditch the rest. But most of them are big pieces and it's such beautiful fabric. Maybe I should make a few skirts . . . How is the dishwasher running? And what sewing project is happening in your playroom today?

JUDI - you had a busy day yesterday! Is Sophia happy to think of herself as a high schooler now? And today is yours to play! I hope you love your new machine! There can be a bit of a frustration factor when getting accustomed to a new machine. I hated mine for the first few weeks, but now I love it! For the first few years I kept forgetting to change the throat plate when I wanted to zigzag or use a specialty stitch. I went through a lot of needles. And Bill just told me to tell you to tell Ken that more bobbins are a great Christmas gift because they are expensive. :D

VAL - I only quilt small things - wall hangings, table runners, etc - on my machine. I don't use any adhesive product, but I do iron the layers flat as I put them together and then pin them. And I quilt from the center outward. How are you liking your new machine?

LOIS - I think you have us all checking our chair wheels now! lol! I know I'll be checking mine today. How is Sandi's shoulder coming along? Are you two almost ready to start Mr. Snowman?

Yesterday we spent the day at my Cousin Mary's house. Her 28-yr old DGD is high functioning autistic. Unable to really live on her own, but want's her own space so her parents bought a 43 foot RV for her to live in and it was delivered to Mary's house on Saturday. We went over so Bill could hook everything up and show them all how to operate all the features. After that we ran a few errands at pharmacy and Costco. When we got home, I finished sorting out my fabrics, except those wools. Today's plan is to finish wools and start on patterns. Anyone interested in wool applique patterns?

I think we'll have poached eggs and salad for supper tonite and spaghetti tomorrow night.

I hope we all get a little quality play time today!

Good morning!

A real humdinger of a scorcher is coming today. St George has already reached triple digits and we are headed there today. Beware, I share, not on purpose, it just happens that way. Sure wish we could even out the temps , still get the snow needed and then not roast. Oh well, I'll not complain.

It's a do not disturb Judi day! She's very busy playing with her new machine. Maybe she could name her, new machine, Daisy May, Judi did buy her in May. And the machine can make very pretty flowers, I've seen Judi's applique work. Just an idea...

Church is in a little while. Easy hymns to sing. Favorites of many. Then after church, we will head over to Matt's. As each missionary is called, they are set apart, specifically to teach the gospel to those who are interested and given that charge before they serve. Andrew's mission starts tomorrow morning and he'll be set apart this afternoon. The church has a Missionary Training Center, MTC, that the new missionaries attend. Andrew will do this first week of training, online and at home, via the internet. Then the following week, he leaves for the MTC here in Provo for another week of training. Then after those 2 weeks, he'll be off to the mission field, in the Dallas East area. That area covers north of Dallas to Oklahoma border, and east to Louisiana border. A large area that this mission covers. Andrew is anxious to get going.

We got the toys donated yesterday and I have 2 bags of wooden blocks and big size legos that I saved out for my Ward here. On Sundays, the Primary has a class, we call the nursery for the toddler to 3 year old. They get to play with toys, have a snack and a short lesson. This gives the parents a chance to have a Sunday school lesson with out a toddler interrupting them. I like a class like that! I taught nursery several times over the years. And learned the best gossip from those kids - always made you smile!

Good news from Becca. Getting a pacemaker does wonders! Many more prayers for a continued recovery. Thanks Maryz for keeping us posted.

Well, it's time to get my Sunday morning routine going. We've been fussing all night with low blood sugar, but hopefully have it stable now. A new sensor was put on Mr G's arm and always does this! Even if the sensor is changed early in the day, it just wants to be a brat!

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning, I was up early had some toast put on a loaf of bread to rise..It is in the oven now. I also did some laundry and stripped the bed,,,busy morning,,,
It is quite an adventure it took forever to unpack the box...all the gadgets and feet ( and yes i got a quarter in foot with a seam guide) i got it plugged in and learned to wind the bobbin and oil the machine, I also unpacked and loaded all the feet and accessories into the little stand alone cabinet that comes with it.,,,that was it so far,,, today after my chores I will install the quilting platform and learn to thread the machine,,,, and take a few stitches, the operators manual is 195 pages and the accessory manual is 85 pages. there are 118 videos on just this machine some on the embroidery module...(I didnt buy it since i have the babylock embroidery) It is way bigger and a lot heavier than my other machines,,,and there is adaquate lighting on the throat space which id also larger, I still have the garden quilt on the LA that is half done...This is all very exciring and after the bread is done I will be back up here for the afternoon....to see what I can do....there are some really nice fancy stitches on this machine,,,Lyn you will have so much fun with it.... :D
Ken is off to homedepot I am glad I had bread in the oven,,,so off I go to take care of that See you all tomorrow..XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
DO NOT DISTURB sign will be up in a bit,

Good morning. I survived yesterday's triple (barely) digits and we will see a cool down of low to mid 90's for the week. It's good to be me.

I got my housework pretty much caught up, the floors are vacuumed and mopped. I do have one end table that catches the sunlight in the morning. It's quite dusty so it's either dust today or move the table so I don't see the dust. It's a predicament. Thankfully that should be the biggest issue I face today.

Lori, if I need to run the heat or a/c I set it at 77, not sure why. I do have a fan that blows directly on my chair and if I get too hot I just sit in front of it. The bananas sound like a lot of fun, nice to get lost in laughter for a while.

Lyn, safe travels. I'd go with you but it's probably a bit out of your way to swing by and pick me up.

Lois, I love a girls day, they are the best.

Maryz, thanks for the Becca update, great news. Everytime you say eggs and salad I scrinch up my nose, then I remember I put boiled eggs in my salad and get unscrinched. I have seen Elsbeth. Not sure whatever happened to those nice clean quirky shows. I also need to go through fabric, some I will never ever use. Our quilt group is having a "everyone bring the stuff you don't want to see if someone else wants it" meeting. Worst that could happen is I bring some of my junk home. Hi five back to you. It's a deal.

Jana, wow, seems like we were just waiting to see where Andrew would go and poof, there he goes. I have cousins in Denton Texas, near the ok/tx border. Hope Andrew loves his mission.

Judi, boy it sounds like you have a lot to learn and are going to have fun learning it. How exciting.

After I dust I will boil up some eggs and run vinegar through the coffee maker. It's exciting to be me.

Tomorrow morning, I have my echo and also will go to the grocery store.

I cooked a meatloaf yesterday morning and had it last night as hamburger salad. Made some thousand island dressing (dill pickle, mayo and ketchup) Might just have the rest for lunch today. I'll thaw out some hamburger and bacon for a bacon cheeseburger for dinner tonight.

You all have a great day,
Chriss

Good Morning Girls

Showered and dressed here---going to be a HOT one... may have to break down and turn on the AC later, we will see. I get sun only from the north & east, so I miss a lot of the big heat and if there's a breeze I can get by with open windows!

Lyn... On the road again..... Are you headed north to Canada? We have some air quality warnings here from smoke from fires in Canada. There were a lot of fires up near Lake of the Woods a few weeks back and big warnings in the area. Will you head up Interstate 35? Lots of road construction up this way!

Lois....enjoy your day out and about! Wish I could join you at the fabric warehouse--even if I didn't buy anything, I still like to look!

Maryz... Good to hear that Becca is doing well. Seriously? One day in the hospital? Still haven't run the dishwasher, tho I should probably run it today, while I'm up ! I usually start it before I go tot bed at night, but I think I sure try it during the day so I can be ready if it freaks out again. I have a couple projects available to work on today, a little table runner (from hell) and some squares I put together-trying to use up some layer cake pieces. 43' RV? that's bigger than my house! Sounds like a good option for DGD--will give her some independence and responsibility with having someone close by to help.

Jana.... I've heard those monitors can be a little tricky, when you have to change the thingee! Seems to me I heard it takes a day to kind of settle down. Do you have a back up regular meter just in case you need to double check Mr. G's BS?

Judi... Congratulations on your new machine!!! Sounds like a lot of fun to learn all that it can do. I'm one of those people that just pushes buttons to see what happens and then read the book only when I mess up something. I've had my Brother embroidery machine for 3 years and I just recently discovered that with the right foot I can do almost serger like stitch! Guess I should have read the book 3 years ago! Hope you have lots of fun with your new machine !!

Chriss... Yeh... you are able to get tomorrow already!!! No sure what an echo-cardiogram is. I think I've had an EKG and that was easy and painless. I'll send some prayers for easy pain free testing. I too, have the budget plan for both electric and natural gas bill-- last month was my "clean up" and reassess month and of course the cost went up! I was thinking about asking Uncle Sam for a raise!

Spent a good part of yesterday in the garage. Didn't work on the fabric, just rearranged a few things. Vacuumed out my car a little. Shawn came over to put some stuff UP in the rafters above the garage--where we store our Christmas stuff. But I knew there had to be some other stuff up there, so he brought down 2 boxes of other things--that I spent last nite in front of the TV sorting out. Found all the closing paper work from loans and re-fi's back to 2010! I think I can shred those now. Also found a box of old photo's in random order and all my prints from my trip to Ireland in 2000 and Scotland in 2002. Sorted through them a bit and tossed many. I have an album full and all the photos transferred to a flash drive from those 3" diskettes! Also found a stack of picture postcards from Ireland and hated to throw them away---so I posted on the buy nothing group--a gal wants them for an art project for her daughter! Love to recycle things!!
There's baby pictures of me and others through my teen years and early marriage. Think I'll try to put them in some kind of an album. So when I die and my kids want pictures for my funeral, they will all be in the same place. I'll put them with notebook with all my end of live instructions.

OH a little bit of fun good news.. Remember my niece that got married last summer--that I made the purple quilt for me---they are expecting their first baby in December! Looks like another baby quilt in my future. Kind of hope they will find out boy/girl so I'll have a direction to go!

Have a few errands to run this morning.. need gas in the car and think I'll run it through the car wash while I'm at it. In our little town, we have 4 car washes, all within 4 blocks of each other! good grief... who needs that many car wash places!!

Wishing you all a happy and cool Sunday!

Maryq - you want a laugh, there are 8 car washes between my house and Aaron's house, almost a straight line and about a mile! And 6 of them are the same company! Officers have a phrase, don't drive dirty, usually referring to carrying drugs, but here in Utah, has a whole different meaning. LOL And you can buy a monthly unlimited car wash pass! How many times a month do you wash a car? Mine is parked in a garage and maybe once every 6 weeks gets a bath! People here buy a unlimited pass for each car they own too! Aaron does wash his work truck all the time, PD mandates and pays for clean PD vehicles.

Aaron story - y'all remember old comedy routines of Keystone cop antics? Well they still happen 8n real life. Aaron and his buddy, both on duty, came across a street hazard. One of those giant steel plates 7sed to cover holes in the road, covering construction etc. Well, this steel plate had shifted and could cause serious harm to a motorcycle or a car. So Aaron and the other officer came up with solution. Aaron has heavy duty chains in his big truck, and the plate had a hole, so these two came up with the brilliant idea - hook thechain through the hole and use Aaron's truck to drag 8t back into place. Yup, they did. Voile problem fixed, we'll, until they realized they didn't think the fix all the way through. Chain is now stuck under this giant steel plate. So they called the street department, who was working nearby to bring over the skip-loader and lift up the plate to rescue Aaron's chain. Fun for the day while on duty!

Maryz, that was really nice of you and Bill to help them out with the hook ups and whatnot. I too will be getting rid of wool. I don't use it enough and usually just buy a kit if I want to make something. I do enjoy working with it though. The Halloween quilt I made last summer was supposed to be in wool and I used cotton. It's one of my favorites. Before you give away the patterns maybe consider that. Thanks for the update on Becca. I bet she will feel a whole lot better now.

Jana, my car is in the garage and it still gets washed every week. We have a drive thru wash and I have the monthly subscription. Funny story, 25 back in 2000 I made a trip up to Utah in January. I had my car detailed before I drove up so it was nice and clean. It had been snowing in Utah a lot. I didn't hit any in climate weather on the way up or while I was there. Everyone's cars were filthy from driving in snow and I asked my son, "don't people wash their cars here?'' Coming from SoCal I was clueless. The day we drove back home, it snow that night. We missed it the 3 days we were there. So the running joke is that we need to visit so the weather will be nice.

Maryq, your weather must be nice for you to be out in the garage. Fun for you to find pictures from your vacations. It's time consuming putting photos on a hard drive. I did some slides years ago and it took forever. Congratulations to you niece.

Chriss, it was hot here the last few days. 96 on Friday and 89 yesterday. Today we're supposed to be 84, but it's overcast and humid. I'm hoping we don't have to close up the house today. I too got my vacuuming done yesterday. I say move the table so you don't see the dust.

Judi, I took a day long class on how to use the machine. It does a lot of fun things and has fun stitches too. Don't you just love that big bobbin?

Lyn, glad you had a good day with Maddox.

We walked early before it got too hot. Today is Jack's birthday. I can't believe he's 9 already. I gave him a new toy and bought some special treats for later. He's still a good walker, but I do notice he is slowing down a bit. We've been walking everyday for over 8 years. It keeps him in shape. I got the vacuuming done yesterday as well as washing the sheets. So today I might dust.

I ordered some planter mix from Home depot yesterday and it was delivered. I need to amend a few planter beds too. I'll probably do that later when it cools down. I just do a little bit at a time.

Dinner will be burgers on the grill tonight with tater tots.

Have a lovely day.
Lori 8-)
