Friday April 11 2025
Good morning another cold dreary day here but the snow is gone again,,I have a busy day today, I will go and pickup my grocery order and bring it home to put away, Then pick up Sophia from school she has a half day, we will then go to the formal thrift store they only sell gowns prom dresses and bridal wear. She may be able to find a yellow gown she can redesign into a beauty and the beast . at a lot better prices than going to the fabric store for bridalwear which will be out of her budget, She doesnt think so but I know bridal fabric is expensive, She say she needs a job because her hobbies are expensive,,,I told her Be careful if you ever take up quilting,,
Since I am so slow with embroidery I ordered a new pattern from Laundry Baskets it is another red white nd blue quilt called "Made in the USA" it looks easy and I have most of the fabric to do it,,,Notice I said MOST, There is a big amish quilt shop in a huge barn, it is 2 hours away from me, but a road trip for fabric is called a FART. and Im up for it....
Ryker's spring league of hockey has started up he has 2 games this weekend so we will try to go to at least one of them... Liams spring hockey is starting to so we will be "rink rats" again for a month or so.
Well I need to get moving here and at least get something done,,,hope you have a great day XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Warming up in the Hill Country of Texas. Already 60° and heading to 90°. I like warmer weather.
Judi, I'm curious, where's the QS in a barn located? I will be near Elkhart at the end of the month.
Chriss, I've not seen quail around here, lucky you.
Taxes are done and E filed. I will mail checks on Monday. I did get them down some, but with sending in a quarterly estimate, they're still getting too much money out of our pockets!
Up early or earlier for me. The storm door for the Cabin is in at Lowe's and our friends have offered to meet me there, they have a truck. Once we get that in the garage, Carol and I might run to the Llano QS.
Hope you can do something fun today.

Re: Friday April 11 2025
Good morning,
DIANE - you've gotten some great ideas from Jana, Judi, and others, on how to fix your boo boo. The best is to acquire more fabric if possible and remake the blocks. But if you can't do that, can you set those blocks aside, make the rest of them, and then disperse them throughout the quilt, and trim any blocks adjacent to the boo boo blocks a tad larger, and maybe decrease the seam allowance a little bit when putting them together? I hope it's a comfort to you to know you aren't the only one to make this mistake! I have utilized all these methods to fix the exact same boo boo. More times than I care to confess.
CHRISS - I had to laugh when you said you could probably leave the house open when you were gone and all would be fine. We left once for a two-week trip and accidentally left door not just unlocked but standing wide open the entire time we were gone. An entire herd of deer could have wandered in and made themselves at home! But if any burglars happened by they probably thought we were close by to leave everything out for such easy pickings and decided to move on. Maybe it was the best deterrent after all! As for trees, my favorite ornamental tree is a golden chain. Such pretty flowers in the spring! But I also love Flowering Plum (no plums but pink spring blossoms and red fall leaves). A weeping willow would be nice, too. No flowers, but quick growing and shady. My parents had a flowering crabapple tree and a red hawthorne. Both so pretty! Another one is a weeping cherry. And that's my two cents on trees. I'm not sure what would grow best in your climate. But sounds like you have time to research.
LYN - you are too funny! Glad you got the blankety blank taxes done. Ugh! I'm not doing shop hop either. Haven't for years. Most of the shops around me have closed. My friend, Annette, talked me into doing a crop hop (scrapbooking) with her about 15 years ago. She thought nothing of driving 200 miles in a day to 5 different shops. We didn't get home until after dark and I was so DONE. It ruined all "hops" for me after that. I'm such a crabby old lady!!
MARY Q - I drink purchased water from plastic bottles when we are in the trailer. I don't care much for the plastic but I care even less for washing dishes in the trailer! (though as I'm learning more, maybe I'll rethink that). But when we're at home, no bottled water compares to our home water. It's so good. Any progress on the wedding quilt yesterday or did you goof off all day? I was looking at my Tupperware yesterday. I think it is ALL from between 1985 (when it all burned in our fire) and 1990 (when I finally got it all replaced), well before the changes made in 2010 to eliminate BPA's. Sigh. But I did see lots of it for sale yesterday in Target. Tupperware went bankrupt years ago, was bought by another company, and Tupperware parties became a distant memory. What are you making for the NICU's??
KATIE - That was a fair sized quilt show. Did you have vendors, too? I like small town quilt shows, especially with vendors (though I rarely buy much) more than the big annual 'fests. You can see more, talk to people, take your time, and find parking! A nice scene to wake up to - deer in your yard - unless they are eating your expensive plants! My brother, Albert, used to get so mad because the elk would come and eat his shrubs. Elk don't like to be "shoo'd"!
FLO - I can remember my mom making little girl coffee for me just the way you did for your little 2 yr old charge! A sweet memory!
JUDI - A day with Sophia sounds fun. I wonder if Joann's has any of that type of fabric left . . . And Sophia might like to get in on your FART. Teach her young! I am looking forward to seeing her creations! Sounds like hockey season is blossoming in Michigan! It seems like it should be a winter sport though. I never did make my bread that you were inspiring me to make. Guess you didn't do a very good inspiration job! Maybe when I get back from our trip. We had bread we needed to eat up. And still do. Do you knead it or use a bread machine? I like the kneading process. It kind of makes me feel one with my mom. She must have made thousands of loaves of bread in her time. And I liked watching her knead - push 1, 2, 3 and quarter turn. Repeat. Over and over again.
Yesterday was a real hodge podge of activities. Bill called Urgent Care at 8am for a virtual appt about his sore hip. They gave him a 5-day Rx for muscle relaxers and an order for PT. And he got into PT within 2 hours! So, while he was there I ran the other errands we had, picked him up, and we were home by 1pm and he went to bed for a long nap. I cleaned veggies for camp snacking, packed most of trailer fridge, fixed dinner salads, and at 4pm I finally sat down and did my poor broken and chipped nails. We had a frozen pizza and salad for supper. This morning I have a chiropractor appt, and then we'll leave about 10am. We'll drive 80 miles to tiny town of Elma (where W&N batting mfg plant is located!) and meet Bill's sis and dbil for lunch, then on to Westport to camp for one night on beach. Tomorrow we'll continue down the coast, cross the Columbia, and continue down Oregon Coast to Seaside, OR where we'll stay for a week, then come home. All in all, we'll only be 4, maybe 5 hours from home. I've got my last three NYB blocks kitted up and packed. Maybe I'll get them done and maybe I won't. We'll see. I might take a break and just relax and read, go beachcombing, play cards and dominoes, and shop in the touristy places.
I have a 2 yr birthday picture to share. Stand by! Oh, and Scottie had a great appt yesterday! They did another U/S on him (no charge!) and saw all his insides are back to normal other than his chronic enlarged liver. He can go back to his normal diet. And he got an injection for arthritic pain (he has arthritis in most of his spine). But he's been pronounced all well again after being so sick.
Bobbins!

Look who is two years old! Celebrating at an outdoor restaurant in New Orleans. The waitress gave her a pink cat, now her current most prized possession.

Good morning!
A beautiful day here in the Mountain West! Even had a window open all night! Broke a record for warmth yesterday too. So now when I wait for PT to be over, I open the car windows, not bundle up under a quilt!
Played in the Batt Cave. More like worked there! I have all but two months of OWL traced and ready to fuse. Those will be after we get home from being out. I have fabric from hockeysticks to breakfast on my counters in the Batt Cave. It's OK, they have a basket that they'll go back in shortly. Part of the needed templates and rulers for the new squirrel project quilt have already arrived, the rest are scheduled to be delivered sometime today.
Also while in the Batt Cave, decided that I need to donate a bunch of the toys I have. The littles have outgrown the majority of whats here. Mr G is not letting me go wholesale on the purge, there's a couple of sentimental ones I will keep. I have a very cute wooden toddler table with chairs that will need to be rehomed too. My littles are just too big!
Got most of the uglies done too. Trash cans are at the street for pickup. So, I'm partially caught up and need to do laundry.
Time to get going,
Enjoy the day! Do fun stuff!
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning girls
Just flying by this morning as I need to jump in the shower any minute. Peg called me the other day and said "Hey lets go thrift shopping! and out to lunch" Who could turn that down? There certainly isn't anything I NEED but heck, if I found some cute clothes or oh maybe a good book or some craft supplies---the trip would be worth. And we're going to try to Chinese restaurant we heard about.
I'll try to peek in when I get home.
In the meantime.... Wishing you all a Fabulous Friday!

Re: Friday April 11 2025
Good morning peeps. It's going to be a beautiful day today. Oddly overcast but the weather report tells me to expect 74 degrees. Guess I will wait and see.
I got the parents house cleaned yesterday and today will tackle my house. One load of laundry may or may not run through the washer. I'm in "good enough for now" mode with my weed eating. I do need to do some serious sweeping outside.
I have an accordion blind that has failed in my bathroom, I need to put something over that window. No one is near enough to peek in, and it's high off of the ground but when I come out of the shower I like that window covered. So it's either no more showers or cover the window. I've almost decided to tackle one room at a time here, guess that bathroom is a good a place as any to start.
Judi, if you google Beauty and The beast costumes you might find a Beauty gown. Is Sophia in a play? If I was there I'd offer to drive you to that Amish barn quilt shop.
Lyn, yay for getting the storm door. Nice to have friends offer the help of a truck. Sometimes I wish I had a truck.
Maryz, great news about Scottie and Bill. Hoping they can stay healthy. I probably could leave my windows open. Moose would bark loud enough to deter a burglar. And frankly, the burglar wouldn't get much here. My Tupperware is also the older version. I really don't use it anymore and only have some of the bigger potluck sized bowls. Not even sure why I'm keeping it, I don't make big batches of things anymore and do have a decent sized glass bowl if I do. Two is a really good look for Amara. She's adorable and so is her family. Love the pink cat.
Jana, is purging toys the start of a big purging job or will you fill the empty spaces with other things. I also slept with the window open last night. It's just beautiful outside.
Maryq, hope you find a treasure. what fun to go thrifting. I may hit a garage sale today, we will see.
I think Moose and I will go outside then come back and have breakfast. I have one hamburger leftover from last night with my faux potato salad that will be dinner tonight and I will also thaw something out for tomorrow.
You all have a groovy day,
Chriss

Maryz, glad Scottie is feeling better again. Your trip sounds nice. Hope the weather is perfect for you. I'd share my warm sunshine if I could. The picture of Amara and family is so cute. I can't believe she is 2 already.
Chriss, It's a nice morning here as well. I'm going to go sit on the patio for a bit and have my coffee with Molly cat.
Maryq, happy thrifting. Hope you find something you can't live without.
Lyn, I got my taxes done as well and will mail them out Monday.
Jana, enjoy your beautiful morning.
The boys are off at the groomers this morning. I'll vacuum and dust while they are gone. It's much easier. It's a beautiful morning, but supposed to get up to 85 today. Door and window are open. Don't have much else planned except watch the Cub game.
Have a lovely day.
