Monday, March 24

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Mar 24, 2025 5:47 am

Good morning.

I never made it here yesterday. Sorry. But I did read everything before I went to bed last night. Thank you all for the birthday wishes. You are the best group of invisible friends of birthday girl ever had.!

It has been quite a trip. Our first day here my sister got really sick in the evening and through the night. We had to break the surprise we had planned for my brother‘s birthday dinner and call him and say “surprise! We are in town now will you please come get us and take us to the ER in Fairbanks?“. So he was surprised just not how we had originally planned it. Four hours later she was discharged with diagnosis of dehydration. Gene brought us back to the hotel an hour before the party. After that, it’s been a whirlwind of family. Sometimes I forget just how much family I have up here. 25 at the party and that was only about half of them.

Today we are going to the Santa Claus house in North Pole. And we’ll hang out with Gene. Yesterday my sister was feeling better so we drove into Fairbanks and we bought gift cards at five different restaurants to give him and Terry for wedding gift. Still don’t know when the wedding will happen but sometime next month, but he said the ladies in his church have taken it over and are making the plans

Bill reports that Scottie is doing well, acting his normal silly self. I was fearful of a relapse but so far so good.

Our first stay here we picked up our rental car at the airport and drove straight to Northern threads and quilt Shop. I love that shop in the big log building. And I found perfect fabric to do the paper piece border in my New York beauty. I miss my Quilt!

I am an early riser so I leave my sister to sleep in the mornings and I go downstairs to the lobby/lounge of the hotel. And read my book. Yesterday my nephew was down here with me so we had a long two hour visit. He is one of my favorite people. My sister is not an early riser so from 5 AM to 9 AM my time is my own.

All for now, they just brought the coffee out and I am off to fetch a cup.

Hugs!

Mz

It pays to get up early. I got to see Northern Lights! Faint, but they are there!

Good morning,

Well yesterday I got ancy so I put some of the cleaning aside and cut out my radiant star quilt and will alternate cleaning I even called Dolores to see how she is and told her what I was making the radiant star she said I always wanted to make that but to chickened to try so I guess I'm a great influencer like Mary z.
Today just for the heck of it I'm going to Joann's I want to see if they have any cutting mats mine on top of my cutting table is not great anymore.

Mary I'm so sorry your sister isn't well I hope she gets better soon.

There is no more news from here.
I hope you all have a great day.

Good morning!

A beautiful day here and spring is in the air! I know because I'm sneezing! Normal Monday with PT today. We are busy the whole week with appointments. We have one with Social security tomorrow morning and hopefully that will get the benefits started in our account. The house stayed fairly clean, so not many uglies to do today and after PT, I'll get to play with OWL.

Maryz - lately we've gotten the Northern lights here in Utah. Faint to the normal eye, but it you use your phone, aimed in the sky and take a picture with the phone's camera, all the bright colors appear. Sarah learn that from the Northern lights here.

Lois - are you doing El's Radiant star? It's really not that difficult. I did part of that pattern for El when I was in her Teacher training classes. Marking the dots on where to sew was a big point in making things match up perfectly. Also pay attention to the instructions for if you're right handed or left handed. It does make a difference. You can do it!

Time to go,
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning. Overcast and a little cooler. Hoping for some rain.

MaryZ, Glad Tina wasn't seriously ill. I'm sure you are pushing some kind of fluids in her direction now. It's nice to visit with a nephew you probably don't see often. The Northern Lights are awesome.

Lois, I hope you find a cutting mat. I have the radiant star pattern, hope to get to it someday.

Judi, That will be a pretty quilt.

Today I will download TurboTax and start the dang taxes. I hope my Amazon order arrives at our mail box before the mail center closes, I ordered Minnie treats and I will have an unhappy dog if it's not delivered. I don't usually order them from Amazon but it was easier than driving to Corpus.

Hope y'all have a great day.

Good morning All

Happy Monday! The sun is shining here so hopefully that's a good sign that it will be a nice day--though Alexa says it's only going to hit 48* today! Still can't put away that winter coat!!

Maryz...Hope that Tina is feeling much better today for your trip to North Pole! Did they give her a little IV in the hospital? I can just picture a group of "church ladies" getting everything ready for a wedding. I'm guessing it's a pretty small church?

Lois.... Hope you find a cutting matt at JOann. They are always so darn expensive that the only time I'd get a new one is with a coupon--but no more coupons!!! I really don't need anything at Joann, but the closest one t me is still nice and clean and pretty well stocked.

Jana... Many years ago I watched a Ken Burns documentary "The West" and it was really interesting as it included a lot of history of the Utah area. Did you know he is an avid quilt collector and I think I even saw a documentary on his quilt collection. OH yes, I had 1st baby syndrome too. I think they only time I washed a pacifier was if it hit the floor. Shawn never took to a paccy, when Jen finally gave up hers it was only because at 8 months pregnant, I wasn't able to crawl under the bed to retrieve the last lost one!

Lyn... You are brave to do your own taxes!! I've had the same CPA for about 30 years so I leave it all in her capable hands.. a little of little details I don't quite understand. I just hope every year that I get a little bit of refund --- and I put it right back into the economy!

Judi.... How is Nolan doing at school? I suppose he has a lot of general ed classes this year. Pharmacy school is tough! I remember helping Dex study back in 1972, his last year of school. I think it's even more intense now as at most colleges it's a 6 year program with several different specialties. Back in 1972--there were two choices... Hospital Pharmacy or Retail.

Chriss... However you want to mark Jerry's passing, know that we are all here for you. We will join you in honoring his memory and the part he played in your life---the joy he brought you.

Katie's former Mother in law passed away a few months ago and left behind several tote boxes of fabric that went to Katie's daughter Jill, but Jill hasn't decided she doesn't want it, so Katie's brought it all home and is in the process of washing and sorting it out. Lucky me, she's giving me an option of taking things she knows she won't use. Yesterday's pile contains some gorgeous tans and browns and two pieces that are at least 3yd or more---perfect for backing! So now I need to find a place for that stuff and then get back to my sewing room and finish up some baby things--then on to the wedding quilt.

Plan of the day is to force self to wash a couple floors... can't remember the last time I washed kitchen floor so I think that's a good sign that it probably needs to get done. Garbage day is tomorrow so all garbage needs to be rounded up and hauled out this afternoon.

And now my coffee is cold... so it's time for a refill! The sooner I can get those floors washed, the sooner I can sew!

Wishing you all A marvelous Monday!

Lynn, my sister is doing much better on fluids now. Thanks. Bill just finished our taxes using TurboTax. The news was not good.

Jana, hope you get to work on your owl today.

Lois, good luck finding a cutting mat. I haven’t been into any Joanne‘s but I have heard all the cutting supplies are gone. Are you using the QIAD radiant star book? Isn’t that the same as a Lonestar? It really wasn’t as hard as it looks. I made that pattern some years ago for some Texas friends. Using the red white and blue colors in the Texas flag. It turned out nice and they still have it on their bed. I saw it when we visited them a few months ago. I hope Dolores decides to do it too, and you guys can be radiant star buddies. Tell Dolores hi, we miss her and wish she would come back to the fold. Get it? Fold? Like folded fabric. Haha! I’m clever like this after my 3rd cup of coffee.

Mary q- yes my sister got two bags of IV fluids in the ER. Plus a big bottle of water. She has been pretty good since. We don’t have to go far to the Santa Clause house at North Pole. We are in North Pole. The Santa house is only about 1 mile away. The same distance I usually walk every morning. How fun that you got more fabric! Lol!! But great that it’s Fabric you can use in your next project

Good morning. it's supposed to be a nice day today.

I have some more weed eating to do and plan to tackle it as soon as that sun dries out the grass. The grass may grow a bit if it rains, but it will be more manageable if I cut the tall stuff now. I ordered some blue tooth ear bud things that will be here on Thursday, I need to listen to something other than my own thoughts as I work in the yard.

Maryz, glad your sis and Scotty are feeling better. With your brother knowing you are in town you will get more visiting time in, that is a good thing.

Lois, hope you find that mat. Happy radiant star making.

Jana, I'm also sneezing, but am loving the spring weather. Hope tomorrow's SS appointment is in your favor.

Lyn, I also use Turbo Tax. I down load it each year from Amazon. It's nice to just fill in the blanks.

Maryq, thanks for the kind words. What fun to have a bunch of new fabric to go through. Love those Ken Burns shows.

Judi, I also have very few chores to do in the house here. I told myself last night that the dishes could wait till this morning, but I caved and did them last night. Dishes don't amount to much here so I just do them once a day by hand. Your cabbage dish sounds wonderful.

I have a steak thawing and a meatloaf mixture thawing. One of those will be dinner.

Have a wonderful day,
chriss

Well I went to Joann's that wasn't a sale fabric was 20%but you have to buy minimum of 2 yards and I did buy any the Matt's were 36.00 and 25%off I checked prices on Amazon before I left I can get it for 20.00 so I left with nothing.

The good news is I called the sanitation dept and I get 3 small pickups and 1 large bulk pickup per year so this week those two Pantry's (fabric cabinets) and my cutting tables will be gone.
