Good morning quilting world. Yesterday was a wash out as far as quilting. I did get to the grocery and the laundry done. Picked up a bit but that was all. Oh I forgot, got the windows in my car washed. It's back to work today with one patient in Napa. Only 4 visits this week. I pick up two new patients next week. Not too much longer till full retirememnt. About 6 weeks.
Slept a bit better last night. I think I actually got 8 hours, broken up but 8 hours just the same.
Tina what a great accomplishment for Jazmyne. Sounds like she has some good life plans.
Jana my needle threader worked fine until I changed the needle. The original owner of the Davis shop told me needle threaders do not work on all size needles. I will have to use your trick and see if it helps me to thread a needle. Starting to have issues with that.
Lori when I the guy came out the first time he told me about doing the binding on the machine but do you think I can remember what he said. Nope! There are 3 different attachments that have something to do with stitch regulators and he did say about using one of those. I will have to look it up. I really prefer the look of hand sewn binding.
Maryq do you keep your car in the garage? Do you use antifreeze? There must be something to do to keep the car from freezing. I guess we are having a tropical heat wave here, 45* this morning! Wow, that's cheap for eggs. I paid $11. something for 18 yesterday at wWalMart.
Lyn I wish our gas was $2.59. We are being told the price went up because of a refinnery fire they had last week. Our governor has more excused than Carter has litle pills. Over a dollar of each gallon is also taxes.
I have a class that's due today so I best get to getting. It's not one of the easy ones. Have a great day everyone.

Morning Val and all to follow,
It's started snowing, and we are supposed to get a foot or more....I hope the weather guys are wrong! It's also going to be bitter cold with high Temps in single digits.
Other than working snow shovels, I plan on staying inside. My little baby is tucked in garage and the truck is outfitted with snow chains and weight in the bed to help keep the sliding down.
Yesterday I bought a teddy bear pattern. I have 2 shirts of my late father in laws and I want to make my 3 kids memory bears from them for next Christmas...so I need to experiment with pattern before I cut the shirts.
That's all for now. Stay warm
Flo

Good morning everyone
I was woken up by coyotes trying to take down a calf at 4:45, ugh. Frankie got his bright flashlight and went outside and shined it on them and yelled at them but they weren't too easily distracted...... when it gets light enough he'll see if there's any damage, they're his nephew's cows.
Valerie, I just hope she keeps her focus. You had a busy day yesterday. Our gas here is $2.99, not sure about eggs..... somewhere around $7 for 18 but I have my own chickens and we give eggs to Holly, Kevin, Dad and my massage lady..... we're hopefully going to get 4 more baby chicks is a couple weeks, the badger made a huge dent in our flock, we have 9 of the 17 we had last year plus Holly gave us 1 she had.....it was lonely.
Flo, stay warm! Keep your chickens warm too. I have a shirt of my mom's that is on the back of my sewing chair that I have plans to make into a bear one day
I'm thinking about making something for Frankie for breakfast..... I'm waiting for that thought to pass
because I'm thinking of making him bear claws.
Laundry is on for today. Frankie finished my shelf and put it in my sewing room yesterday so I spent the morning filling it up from the stuff I had taken off the table I had in there before I rearranged things....I also dusted with pledge in there
I hope you all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need
Tina

Re: Tuesday 2/18/25
Good morning,
Today, we're supposed to make it to 51*! Yay! And maybe not even rain!! We usually have one nice warm week in February and maybe this week will be it!
MARY Q - You are COLD! Colder than North Pole, AK! How did your BIL do in surgery? I was going to text you last night and ask, but forgot. So nice of you to keep tabs on Connie. Hope she survives the cold spell OK. Is Viv as avid a quilter as you are? Do you swap her labels for quilting? Bill cut batting for Amara's birthday quilt yesterday and said we need a new roll. We order it from the factory in the tiny town of Elma, 80 mi away, which is close to his sister's house. So we'll plan a visit when we go to pick up the batting. A roll lasts me about 14 months.
CHRISS - I'll look for that yogurt at Costco next trip. Costco is only 3 miles away. We buy the natural peanut butter there, too. We have to stir it up, but there's nothing in it but peanuts. Maybe a dash of salt. No sugar. I always freeze my burger in smaller amounts, too. Usually about 1/2# pkgs. Or I make patties and freeze them. Did you finish your First Kiss quilt?
TINA - how great that Jaz knows exactly what she wants to be 'when she grows up'. And I saw she took first place!! I'm not sure what it was first place in but I know you're right to be super proud of her! My machine is having a spa vacation right now. I will be so glad when he comes home again. I really miss my automatic thread cutter when I'm paper piecing. They always say 3 weeks, but usually it's only 2. They will put a rush on it if it's an emergency, but otherwise, you wait your turn in the shop. We drop machines off in the Tacoma store (they have 18 stores around the Puget Sound area), but all machines are sent to the main shop in Seattle for service and repair. You are lucky to have your own chickens for eggs. Our neighbors have chickens, too. I'm listening to their roosters' cheery crow.
LYN - I have a quilt pattern called Heart of Texas that I bought in Austin many years ago. I made the quilt and don't know if you saw it hanging in the library quilt show. It is pieced, appliqued, and paper pieced. A great pattern to do a little bit of everything. Though there is also an Exploding Heart of Texas pattern you should take a peek at. Either would look great on your bed . . . Oh, and as for Gene's Alaska girlfriend, their differences began to become apparent and they finally broke up.
LORI - When I've made FPP projects in the past where the blocks are always the same, I've prepped ahead and kind of chain stitched them. But that would be very confusing with this pattern. Every block is different and uses different patterns and fabrics.
JANA - I was wondering about your needle position re your threading issues. I'm sure you've checked, but sometimes it's easy to knock that needle to the next position over. I wouldn't put it past Gene and Terry to not tell anyone and get married in the middle of his birthday party.
VAL - what is the name of the quilt you are planning with the Mariner's Compass? You use a lightweight paper like Carol Doaks PP paper? My first PP'd quilt I didn't know about that and just used copy paper. What a hassle that was!
JUDI - Sounds like things down there in Margaritaville are going just as planned - relaxing, eating, stitching.
LOIS - Did you work on July's little blocks yesterday? Do you know yet what's next if you're taking an OWL break? Thanks for reminding me - I bought a turkey breast last week and it's in the garage freezer.
FLO - a great idea to practice with that teddy bear pattern and an even greater idea to start your Christmas sewing now! And best idea of all - stay home and inside! Hope your chickens will be OK in your weather.
Yesterday I finished a fourth block. It's not the sewing that's the difficult part and not even the pulling the papers off after the sewing. It's wrangling the patterns! All the patterns for the 54 blocks are printed on sheets of paper that are about 30" square, front and back. So it's constant trying to fold and refold that paper to get to the patterns I need to copy. And some of the patterns are too big for 8x10 paper so I have to piece them together with tape. It's going faster now, it's still a hassle.
And yes, the squatter next door was captured, arrested, but released AGAIN and he simply returned 24 hours later. We think the house is empty now, but not sure. Our neighbor, a Tacoma PD officer, and his friend, a Gig Harbor officer, are patrolling the house now several times a week. The developer has been trying for over a year to get the permit to demolish the house but our county is difficult when it comes to permits.
This morning I have a long chiro appt. Just to establish an open claim in case problems pop up from being rear-ended in Texas. I don't expect anything, but with car accidents you just never know. Problems can pop up down the road (no pun intended). So it will be XR's and full assessment today along with my regular adjustment. I'll work on NYB block #5, and for supper I think I'll make stir-fry chicken and veggies tonite, over rice.
Have a great Tuesday!

Well All Y'all up north think you need to share your weather with Texas. It's 58° and will start heading down to 20° tonight. I was going to hurry up and get us to the coast, but after talking with my good friend who's watching over the MH, we are staying here at the house and making sure all is well. I'm sure it will make the birds happy to be fed a few more days. They have gone through 20# of seed since Saturday.
I texted with Izzy to see if they were OK with all that flooding. The farm is a mud pit and the pond over flowed it's banks, a first. Looking at a possible 6" of snow today.
I'm taking the Wi-Fi extender back to Walmart this morning before it gets too cold. I will pick up some groceries since we'll be here a few more days.
Stay warm and safe. Prayers for your needs.
Lyn

Re: Tuesday 2/18/25
Good morning. It's going to be a warmish sunny beautiful day today. I think that groundhog might have been mistaken.
This morning I will walk and then wait for the parents to show up. They don't get too early of a start, I likely have time to run up to the grocery store and get a few things. Yesterday I did my house cleaning except for mopping the floor. That will be later this week.
I have two credit cards and around midnight I got a text alert that someone wanted to buy a plane ticket with one of them. No way was I going to say yes or no in a text so I called the fraud department this morning using the number on the website. They are sending me a new card. I'm so OCD with my bank account and credit cards I check them a couple of times each day. Perhaps a lilttle over the top but it's what I do.
Lori, I bet finding those stuffed animals made you smile. Amazing how many nooks and crannies a house actually has to store things in. If I go to Costco I usually go during the week and around 10am, but if the parking lot is full I will shop someplace else. There are those who wait in line to get in when they open and those that show up around noon. Funny how some things need to be timed.
Tina, yay Jazmyne. I bet she was excited. heck, I'm excited for her. She slayed it. I bet she keeps her focus, I bet she does really well in life.
Valerie, yes, more than a dollar in gas prices is for taxes, and those taxes are supposed to help fix the roads. Don't see that happening. I do see a few people considering running for governer so that might be good. happy class today.
Flo, ugh, snow. glad it's at your house and not mine. I'd like to see your teddy bears when you get them done.
Judi, sorry you have to make that bed, oh the work behind vacation. Glad you are enjoying a warm and fun time.
Lois, hope the something you find is a fun challenge. I can smell that turkey breast from here, it smells like Thanksgiving.
Maryz, glad someone is looking in on Vicky's house. There is a house I can see from my kitchen window that is vacant. I have called the Sheriff a couple of times when squatters tried to live there. It hasn't happened in years though. Nope, haven't gotten into the sewing room for a while, just being lazy. I'll look into that Costco PB. Depends on the size of the jar, I don't eat a whole lot of PB but sometimes a spoonfull is just want I need.
Lyn, I will gladly share some of this warm dry weather with you, come on over and get a bucket full.
Not at all sure what dinner will be, but that makes me pretty consistant. Perhaps I will hit the grocery store and find a roast for the crock pot, or not?
Guess I need to get dressed and think about meeting my walking friend. You all have a fun day,
Chriss

Re: Tuesday 2/18/25
Good morning Girls
Another day in the deep freeze. Schools are closed today because of the cold. While our buildings are of course well heated, the concern is for kids standing and waiting for buses and the kids that walk to school. Looks like we will be above zero tomorrow and by the weekend we may see 40* above, which will sure feel like a heat wave.
Valerie... Oh yes, my car is in the garage and I think (but I won't swear to it) that car batteries in Minnesota are made for cold temps. A lot of folks have a block heater in their cars and plug them in at night to keep the engine warm. My son drives a diesel truck for work and has to plug his in at night. This is cold is just another reason why I wonder why I live here. It was my plan/dream to spend winters in AZ, but things didn't quite work out as I had planned----D-i-v-o-r-c-e!
Flo... You are expecting a FOOT of snow!!! This isn't very common for you guys to get that much snow is it? No chains allowed in MN and no studded tires either!! Hope you are fully stocked so you don't have to go out in the snow!
Tina... You have a new shelf to play with!!! Can I come help? I have a set of shelves above my cutting table in the sewing room, that I really should re-org... I think there's probably a good layer of dust up there! However it will require the foot stool from the garage and it's just way to cold to go out there!
Judi.... Sounds like the perfect vacation!! Lots of R & R---rest and relax and enjoy the wonderful warm weather---You're almost 100 degrees difference than it is here!
Lois... Sometimes you do just have to set something aside---that's when I wreck things, if I try to hurry and get something done.
Maryz... BIL did very well in surgery. He was home by late afternoon! They just repaired a small hole in his heart. They sure don't keep you long in the hospital anymore! Oh yeh, Viv makes a ton of quilts. Some she donates to various auctions in her area. There's a group of quilters in the area that meet once a month in her little village. How nice to have W & N so close!! I order a couple bolts at a time of 80/20 from Walmart and usually send one down to Viv to do my quilts. It wasn't the squatter that they took out of the house "deceased"!! WA state has kind of gone the way of California when it comes to prosecuting crimes hasn't it.
Lyn... I just thought y'all would like to see what it's really like in Minnesota, so I sent the blue northern down to you!
Chriss....With all the fraud etc these days, we really do need to keep on eye on our cards!!! What are you folks going to do at the house today? Did Dad get all the lights set up the way you/he want?
Have any of you ever made a reversible quilt? Yesterday I finished up the main part of the red/white quilt--it was super easy and not too big. And I just got to thinking maybe I would make the same pattern in blue and white and see if I could quilt it together. It might be one I could do myself!
so this morning I promised I would do some chores before I start sewing the day away. Floors need mopping and I should haul the vacuum out too. I have this big old heavy Kirby vacuum and it does a great job, but it's just so darn heavy!!! Am thinking about getting a new lighter weight one -- and tho I'd love a Robot one, that's a little out of the price range I'm looking at!
But first, I need more coffee!
Have a most wonderful day everyone
