Good morning ,
It's been windy all night as it still now but that's ok we are in doors no apts and that's a good thing.

Yesterday I finished my July block so now on to the three little ones.
I have wash going as I need to do a few so I hope you don't mind if I hog the laundry room.

Mary Z I'm imagining your quilt will be beautiful.

I don't think I will tackle that one as I don't think I like paper piecing.

Well that's all the news from here I hope you all have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.

Good morning, everyone,

LOIS - you can have the laundry room all day long if you like. My hamper is empty. I didn't think I liked paper piecing either. But then Drew asked me for a Lord of the Rings quilt. I said, "of course!", of course. And then found there are no LOTR patterns except for paper piecing! I finally gave in and tried it. A lot of trial and error, but now I love it. I just wouldn't want to do it all the time. It's tedious, each little seam requires a trip to the ironing station, then to the cutting table, and then back to the sewing machine for the next seam. It's messy with tons of tiny scraps not to mention pulling all the papers out. And then there's curved sewing - at least in this pattern. Gosh! Maybe I don't like it after all!

CHRISS - You got your taxes all done??! High five!! We don't itemize either, but we still need all our paperwork, statements, etc. and they haven't all arrived yet. Sometimes, if I'm hungry at non-meal times, I just eat a spoon of peanut butter. What kind of yogurt to you eat? So much of it is loaded with sugar. I often wonder what dogs are thinking when they are doing what dogs do - like digging. I saw a clip on FHV once of a dog pushing a rock around the yard with his nose. And the announcer, speaking for the dog, said, "Pushin' a rock, pushin' a rock, pushin' a rock...." Do you think Moose is thinking, "Diggin' a hole, diggin' a hole, diggin' a hole . . . ."

MARY Q - groceries are so expensive. Hamburger is a great example. We don't eat a lot of it either and when we do, we prefer ground sirloin. But I only buy it when it's on sale a "great low price". I don't buy cookies. I bake them, and I almost always bake Bill's favorite, which I'm happy to say is pretty far down the list of my own faves so I don't eat many of them. (oatmeal raisin) Sorry Jen isn't more accommodating about letting you go to quilt shops in Alaska. Maybe she'd let you at least borrow her car one day and you can go alone to Wasilla/Palmer. They are only about 30 miles from Eagle River. And you are right - each shop is distinctive and has their specialty fabrics. Most Alaska shops have a lot of batiks. Saying a prayer for your BIL today and for his surgeons.

DIANE - I am happy to share my brothers' histories with you. See yesterday's sew-in. I wish your hubby all the best. I'm glad he's in the study.

LYN - the big "romantic" date here is to go to the Tacoma Tideflats and watch them unload ships and rail cars. lol! Sorry about your "electronic day" but glad you've got most of it figured out now. I'm somewhat artistic and I love science, but my mind just can't absorb anything electronic. I'm still struggling with our new toaster oven! After a year!

JANA - The best thing about my Bernina is the automatic threader. I love it! When I was teaching my quilting class in Texas, I had to help so many people with their machines and they all had to be hand threaded. Brought home to me that I can never ever be without an automatic threader again!

TINA - will Jaz be staying with family when she goes to college or will she be in a dorm or an apartment with other kids? Did you get to play in your sewing room yesterday? And if so, what are you working on?

JUDI - Sounds like life in the warm sunshine is suiting you! We spent 2-1/2 months in Texas and we had a lot of sunshine but not much warmth. You get to sit by the pool, listen to your audio book, and stitch on your yo yos? Ahhh...... You have found heaven. Who knew it was in Florida! What are you making for dinner on your night to cook? Are you making more yo yos or are you stitching together the ones you already have? I bet Liam is excited about the truck. I think it's fun that they team all bleached their hair yellow. Did Liam do it, too?

LORI - are you working at your dad's house? Hope you're getting a little time to sew, draw, dance, and play bridge.

VAL - Still planning your April fishing trip? Have you found a place to stay yet or will you just suck up the higher price and go where you've always gone?

Yesterday I made another 1-1/2 NYB blocks. I might have finished the second one but Bill, who was outside, called me out about 2pm. EMS was at Vicki's house next door. So it was an exciting few hours there. Apparently, the squatter, who was wanted for burglary, had been there for the past month with a girlfriend. The fire guys were leading the girl out and she was sobbing. They came to us and asked to borrow a camp chair for her to sit. And they told us the squatter won't be bothering us anymore. (their words) He was deceased. Eventually the girl's mom arrived, then two sheriff's deputies. Mom left with the girl as more vehicles and people arrived. It was another while before the coroner arrived. The last vehicles left just as it was getting dark. So eerie, almost like it was the night they found Vicki, 2 years ago. We are assuming the cause of death was an overdose. We let our neighbor, Alison, across the road (who's husband is Tacoma PD officer) know what was going on. (she's kind of the self-appointed neighborhood watch captain. Bless her!) She said there has been a rash of burglaries in our neighborhood lately and we wondered if this was our burglar.

In other news, my brother, Gene, is getting married. I'm not surprised that he is getting married even at 90 yrs old, but I was a little surprised at who he is marrying - my other brother's widow, Terry. Terry is technically a member of our forum but she rarely, if ever, checks in here. So she is in Las Vegas now packing up stuff there (she stays with her DD a lot), will come back to WA to her house to pack more stuff, and I think Gene will either drive a truck down for her things or arrange with Lynden Transport to have it all hauled to Alaska. It's about 2,500 miles from here to North Pole where they will live in his house in after they get married sometime in April. I don't think I'll be making a wedding quilt for them. Terry quilts, too and Gene already has several quilts I made him. They will have more need of Home Depot gift cards! Funny how life works out.

Today's plan - more sewing. #4 block looks daunting so I better eat my quilting Wheaties this morning. Supper will be leftover pork. My sister and DBIL, Al & Tina, will be arriving here in a month. So I need to decide what all needs doing before they get here. They sold their RV so they will be staying in ours and right now Mr. Bill is working in ours - has the furnace all torn apart with bits and pieces and tools spread all over the floor - and is waiting on parts. But he did get the front leg landing gear fixed! I also need to plan meals and maybe make some ahead for the guys as we girls will be flying to AK for the 90th birthday party (March 21-25) and we'll be gone 4 nights.

Well, that's all I have for today, but really, isn't it enough?? Life just never slows down around here!

have a great Monday!

Good morning, waking up to 41*, expected to be high 50's low 60s. Possible rain shower this afternoon.I have no where to go except the grocery store. It's a short list so won't take too long. I have a couple of things to mail but post office closed. May print postage and drop in box, we will see.

Binding is on the Owl quilt, (sewn on the front), just have to flip and sew the back. I like to do mine by hand but will slowly move to the machine. I am getting close to calling Skip and having him come back over for more instructions on the machine. I also have two pillow cases done. I have enough fabric for 2 more but also have 3 more owl pictures and likely enough fabric for a small quilt.

Maryz I will start a partially paper pieced quilt next Monday, It has 4 mariner's compasses and the rest are like partial log cabins. Blues and browns, a manly quilt. We are probably going to suck up the higher price and stay where we have always stayed. But will spend the next year looking at new places. My DH had an Uncle that was married and when they got divorced, the wife married another brother and they lived happily ever after. All three of them are gone now. So sad about the squatter, while he shouldn't have been squatting, always sad to see someone destroy their life like that.

Maryq we are paying $8 a pound for hamburger too, 91%. I can't stomach the fattier ones. I have noticed gas is creeping up here. $5.49 at Cheveron yesterday. And, there's a Chevron refinery 30 miles from here! I think you could just sneak out and go to the shop.

Judi I would not like bright yellow hair (or any other color kids do these days) but it shows they have spirit and that's half the battle. Hoping Liam can get back to the game soon. I wondered what that noise was I heard!

Lois if I good have time for just one load? I really need some clean jammies. I don't like wearing them more than 2 nights and it's still too cold at night for the lighter weight ones.

Chriss I think we will be okay without pennies, penny candy is no longer a penny so not sure why we need them. Congrats on the taxes, I should have you do mine, maybe then I won't owe? Oh poor Moose, he likes to help out.

Jana I am going to box up my shredding and take it to the recycle. It's not very expensive. What I need to do is find somewhere I can put the shredder So I can get at it and shredd as I go.

Tina good to hear Jazmyne got into her school of choice. What does she plan to be?

Lyn whats shaking with you.

Guess I should get to getting. Need to jump in the shower, finalize my shopping list and get my day started. Have a wonderful President's day everyone.

Good morning!

Not much today. Hamper here is empty and the house is straightened up. My little robot will be out shortly to do his chore. I should make a grocery run, but we'll see.

My Pfaff does have a needle threader on the machine and it worked great, until another piece near by, broke and was replaced. Now the needle threader doesn't catch through the eye of the needle and I'm not willing to give up my machine for 3 or more months to repair that. So it's the old fashioned way for the time being. And I'll be in the Batt Cave sewing today.

Maryz -such fun news about Gene! Too bad it happens after you're there for his birthday.

Well, off to get the feeding done here,
Hugs,
Jana

A sunny, but cool morning in the Hill Country of Texas.

MaryZ, I have a couple paper piecing kits that I will get to, some day. I guess you don't have to worry about that squatter, hope no one takes their place. Gee, I wonder what Gene's Alaska girlfriend thinks. Will Terry be at the 90th birthday party? One way to look at it, you won't have to get to know a new SIL.

Lois, I think by the time I start my load, you'll be done with your laundry.

Valerie, Gas is $2.59 here.

MaryQ, Prayers for your BIL.

Jana, Prayers for Mr G tomorrow.

Yesterday I tried to hook up a WiFi Extender to the modem. Didn't work and messed up modem, which had to be reset. I will be returning the extender to Walmart before we go to the coast, which is backed up a couple of days. I still have stuff that needs doing here.

Have a great day.

Good morning everyone 🌞
Lois, we're going to have 30mph winds today with higher gusts, ugh I could do without them..... it's funny if the wind blows at night here the dirt doesn't blow as bad but in the day it can be brownout conditions.
Judi, that's what that was, I was wondering who was over the moon excited!😁😁
Maryz, oh my goodness, you sure have the excitement going on there. I hope the developer gets that house knocked down quick so nothing else happens. I'm trying to get the hang of ruler work in my sewing room..... we'll see how it goes, it's a slow process.
Valerie, Jazmyne is hoping to be our County Extension person when she gets her degree, she loves agronomy and all her FFA things that she does.
Jana, can't they order what your machine needs while you still have it at home using it and when it's in have it scheduled so it's in and out in the same week?
Lyn, I've found boosters of any kind; tv antenna, Internet just don't seem to make a difference here either.
Laundry for me will probably be tomorrow. Floors are looking ugly here so I know I'll give in and do them.
You all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need 🙏
Tina

Good morning. I'm thinking spring is here, perhaps we are closer to summer? We should top out at 70+ degrees by the end of the week. I would be overjoyed if things got dry enough for me to do some weed eating.

Yesterday I had the house opened up most of the day. And my kitchen, except for the floor, is clean. Today will be the living room and vacuuming the furniture, and if I get real ambitious I'll move on to another room.

Lois, I will move into the laundry room when you are done. I only have two loads, just the bedding, and should be done quickly. I'm not a paper piecing fan either but it does make beautiful quilts

Judi, How wonderful that the truck is just so close to being on the road. I do think I heard Liam hooting, but it could have been the Canadian Geese that fly over each day. Also wonderful is that hair grows out, hope his mom takes a picture to show his kids one day. Enjoy your weather, we will be having the same here.

Maryz, Congratulations to Gene and Terry. Sounds like lots of packing and traveling going on in your family. Guess you'll know if the dead guy was the burglar if the burglaries stop. I buy hamburger at Costco, $4.99 a pound, and freeze it in smaller portions. I also make up a huge batch of meatloaf and freeze it in smaller portions. I buy Kirkland Greek yogurt at Costco, it's not flavored which is why I add the granola. I also eat a spoonfull of PB, or put some on a celery stick. I buy the no sugar added PB. It took a little while to get used to it but now I love it. I do think Moose is digging a hole, digging a hole. Soon my yard will be one big hole.

Valerie, I bought a small home sized shredder from Amazon and keep it in the spare room. If something needs shredding, I take it in there to shred. After Jerry died I had so much shredding, but now not so much. I also think we can forgo the pennies. I also have a very small grocery list.

Jana, I also have one of those threaders on my machine. Seems they line up until you change the needle and then it's a chore. So much easier to just thread the thing.

Lyn, hope the wifi thing gets figured out. Sorry the trip is postponed but I bet that things needing to be done and causing the trip delay is for a reason.

Tina, boosters don't do it for me either. Jerry had a booster hooked up to our modem and when I removed it I saw no difference. My floors could use a good mopping and since you will have your mop out could you slide it over mine as well?

Here's a cool thing. Jerry and I met online and when we were dating we lived about 1 1/2 hours away from eachother. That meant lots of emailing and texting. I had forgotten that Jerry printed off all of those emails and put them in a binder. I came across that binder the other day, it was sweet to read them. Someday my kids will come across that binder.

Well I was going to shower but I think I will just get dressed and start cleaning up around here. Not sure if we are walking this morning but I will soon find out.

Dinner tonight will be something with the rotisserie chicken I have thawed out. Perhaps I'll just add a veggie and some cauliflower rice. I also need to boil some eggs.

You all have a marvy day, I hope your weather is as wonderful as mine. And if it's not you could always come here and enjoy it with me.

Good Morning Girls

Here we are, Monday again! My dear friend Alexa says it is 16 Below zero this morning, with a high temperature of 5 below expected for the day... So you gotta know I'm not going anywhere. Though I should go out and run my car just to make sure it starts! But get this, by the weekend we may get up to the 40's ABOVE -- almost a tropical heat wave.

Lois... Sounds like you are planning a nice "tucked in" day at home too. I had to look up the OWL quilt again. Good luck to you honey on that one!!  It's beautiful and I can't wait to see yours done!

Judi... OH that was the noise I heard yesterday afternoon... It was Liam being so excited about his truck!! Even tho I'm not a fan of HOT weather... just about now it sounds pretty good. Gotta love teenagers, but I guessed bleached hair is better than shaving it all off? Not that I have anything against bald folks   Back in the late 60's my brother & his friends gave each other buzz hair cuts, I think they got called down to the principal's office! That was the age of guys in "Beatle hair cuts"

Maryz.... OMG what excitement at your house!! What a sad life that guy must have had to die in place that he was squatting. Maybe the township/county or what ever will hurry up with their permit process so that the developer can tear the house down. I did actually bake some cookies a couple weeks ago, but gosh the ones already done at grocery store looked so good and I couldn't resist. BUT, then I stood on the scale this morning and thought perhaps I shouldn't buy/make cookies anymore. I'll take some over to Connie later!

Valerie...When the hamburger look kind of pale, then I know it's 20% fat!! I hate to cook away 20% of what I pay for! I did find eggs yesterday, even tho there weren't a lot in stock $6.99/doz. I bet it feels good to have the OWL quilt all done!!! I do kind of like doing binding by hand too, it's a good restful TV watching project.

Jana... If the needle threader is the only thing broken, I sure wouldn't give it up for 3 months!! That's an awful long time to wait for repairs!! Do you have one of those little gizmo's that can help thread a machine needle? My brother machine came with one, one end if for holding the needle in place, the other end is for threading the needle.

Lyn... Man, gas is cheap down there!! Since I haven't gone anywhere for about 3-4 weeks, I still have a full gas can and haven't paid much attention. Looks like it's about $3/gal here. I have this app on my phone, when I get gas, I tell it and I get money back. Right now I have $26. in my account and I can get a gift card or cash back. It's called UPSIDE. Now sure it would work in Texas, but with all the gas you get it might be worth checking out.

Tina... I'll race you, let's see who can get the floors done first!! I just took my shower so I'm nice and clean and fresh and I really don't want to do those "stinky chores" like floors and vacuuming when I'm clean. Maybe I'll postpone until tomorrow when I'm already stinky. Hope the wind doesn't blow you into the next county.

Chriss... Is the Costco close to you or do you have to travel a ways? There's talk that they are going to build a Costco 2 miles from my house, but there's not one close. Sam's is closer so I go there once in a while. I'd love to stock up on stuff, but storage here is limited. I did stock up on coffee last time I was there--I have one can left and I'm starting to panic

Finished up the wall hanging for Jen yesterday. I have a couple options of things I could work on today. I've been wanting to make a Red & White quilt for a while, so I started that the other day It's just little 9 patches of red/white set on point. Super easy. I have all the 9 patches done and just need to add the other pieces, little by little. I also cut out about 5-6 pairs of fleece mittens to fill a need for a group Katie works with. Can you say ADD!!! I think I figured out what I'm going to do for border on the baby girl quilt so as soon as I get the red/white done I'll go back to that. I have the backing for that one and if I get it done before Tom and Viv come up I might be able to get her to quilt that one before the baby arrives in May!

For now I need to go dry my hair and get in gear. Need to bundle up and go check on Connie. Katie brings her the newspaper every morning and Katie is in Texas this week, so I told her I'd take care of her. Connie is 90 and can barely walk we like to take care of her..

Wishing you all a Marvelous Monday

Chriss, What a sweet memory in finding that binder.

MaryQ, Maybe your scale is broken, I think mine is. I stepped on it and it said up 1.5#, not down.

I think dinner will be chicken stir fry.
