Good morning,
Brrrr..... Baby, it's cold outside! 25* here but at least it's supposed to be sunny.
JUDI - It's almost 7am your time. Did you get off on your trip as planned?
TINA - you've been doing more laundry than I have! I think we got home just in time, between all the storms, even though we had to wait out a few. Did you decide for sure if Frankie and Preston had flu and not some kind of food poisoning? Did they have fevers? Is your foot feeling any better? P.F. can be painful. Are you doing the foot exercises?
LORI - 8mm is kind of a big kidney stone - nearly 1/3". (I had to look that up.) I bet there was a little ki-yiing when that baby passed!
LYN - happy anniversary to you and to Garry. How many years? I know you've told us but it's our anniversary, too, and I'm having trouble remembering our own number! I think 33 for us. I believe it's also Teresa and Rob's 34th.
JANA - Happy Birthday Eve to you and to Sarah! Tomorrow will be a big day in your clan! I wanted to beat the rush with my good wishes. Also, sending good wishes for Mr. G today. I saw our Mariners are at Spring training in Peoria, AZ. We went to one of their spring training games years ago. Way more fun than official league games!
MARY Q - You are COLD! My brother in North Pole is colder but only by a few degrees! I hope you do get back to AK again. The RR trip is great, but it is expensive, especially on top of an airline ticket. But you can see the basically same thing just by driving up the Parks Highway towards Denali. But from Anchorage, if I had one day to tour, I'd go south around Turnagain Arm towards Soldatna and Homer. The Kenai is where they keep all the best scenery. Your Alaska quilt is going to be loverly! I promise! What about it is making it so much harder than other quilts?
VAL - sorry you lost your post. About 75% of the time when that happens to me, if I hit 'ctrl' and 'z' it restores my post. But sometimes, it's just gone. I have the FGV book and a lot of 30's fabrics. I am happy to share if you need more fabric. Did you read my idea of mini-quiches to take to the tea you are going to? It's classic 'tea' food. You can make them or buy them ready made and frozen. Just reheat. Or you could cut whole ones up using small cookie cutters.
LOIS - I hope the last trace of that flu is gone!
CHRISS - how was Gramma Tuesday?
Yesterday I got all my quilts put away with four left to hang on the walls - my OWL and 3 wall hangings. And other than sorting and putting away fabrics, I got my sewing room organized once again. And I washed two half-loads of new fabrics. We went grocery shopping and then took my machine into Tacoma for a few weeks at the Bernie spa. Bill talked to the developer who now owns Vicki's property and apprized him of the squatter situation next door. This squatter is awaiting trial for burglary. The developer seemed surprised. They want to knock the house down but are stuck in the permitting process. But he says they will discuss it and do something. Bill suggested they at least fall a tree over the driveway and lock the house up. The guy said he thought it was locked, but no - it never has been. We don't know if the squatter is there now or not. He was re-arrested but he could have been bonded out again. We're not inclined to go over there and see if he's returned.
Today - more stuff will come in from the trailer to be put away. Bill hasn't started unloading the storage bin yet. The Christmas totes haven't come in yet. Also, I have chiropractor this morning and need to stop at the drug store and post office to mail some packages. Might do a little front yard clean-up, too as this is our last sunny, if cold, day. (I just hit wrong key and lost part of my post - ctrol z brought it back!). Not sure about supper. Our friend, Tex, wants to come over about 3pm "for a glass of wine". He says NO FOOD as he's on a special diet program (he's always on one 'program' or another) and he will have food waiting for him at home. But Tex, God love him, talks non-stop and usually doesn't leave until 9pm. And WE will be starving. So I guess we'll eat "linner" about 2pm before he gets here, maybe grill a couple hamburgers and do fries or tots in the air fryer.
I guess that's all I've got for today. Have a Wunnerful Wednesday!

Re: WEDNESDAY, February 12th, 2025
Good morning!
Oh heck yeah it's cold, we're at 6 degrees! At least that's above zero! And it tried to snow all day, not much to show for all that trying.
I got two bathrooms cleaned, a kitchen cleaned, laundry done and straightened the laundry room.
We're ready for some entertainment. I'll have my Yoohoodi run today, that's our entertainment. Mr G worked again on the complicated plug setup and messed it up again. This time the lights all worked, not the electric blanket. So he'll try again.
My Batt Cave will be toasty warm today, just right for some OWL work. So glad we put in that mini split!
Thank you Maryz ahead of time. Don't have any big plans, just dinner out , to a new found Mexican restaurant. Daniel and Kari found it awhile back and really liked it.
Sarah is enjoying her new job, all except for one company. They have very complicated franchise rules, which are a nightmare! But the investment capital company Sarah works for is in the process of selling off the nightmare business, to which makes Sarah very happy.
Ethan and his young men's group attended a stained glass art exhibit at the University nearby, last night. Ethan was less than enthusiastic. Sarah and I would love to see that exhibit. But the leaders were trying to teach 13 year old boys a bit of culture. . The boys did learn a bit of culture and did have fun going. There's hope out there! At Thanksgiving Point, there's a stained glass workshop that offers classes. Sarah and I want to do some classes there, that is until the price appears, starting at nearly a thousand dollars for the beginning class. Ouch!
The house is now warm, it got quite cold inside too. So now will get the day started.
Safe travels,,
Hugs,
Jana

Re: WEDNESDAY, February 12th, 2025
Good morning everyone
I finally slept more than 3 hours last night but it was still a broken up 5.5....
Maryz, Easton, Preston, Holly and Frankie all have some kind of stomach bug that Easton got from his other grandma and we're the sick sitters.....I thought we made it through without either of us getting it but 5 days later is when Frankie, Holly and Preston all got it....it hit Preston the hardest but I think he's going back to school today.
My foot is doing a little better, today is the last day of the medicine so I'm hoping it doesn't go backwards. I know I overdid it yesterday going back and forth to the washer and dryer but it all needed done and thankfully I got the quilt done before the wind and dirt started.
Yep, I'm doing my foot exercises
You sure got a lot done yesterday!
Judi, safe travels, enjoy!
We're going to have more wind and dirt blowing all day today, yuck. I need to dust and do floors but it seems kind of pointless but I'm not sure I can't do it either.... I'm going to try.
Holly said that some of the students had to be kept in the gym because the roads were closed to Mexico and buses couldn't take them home and their parents couldn't come get them.....not sure if they all got to go home eventually in the evening or not.
Well all the hatches need to be battened down today and the next couple of days, I hope it doesn't get as bad as yesterday though.
You all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need
Tina

Jana, sorry Dad called and I had to leave before I could add you. Wow a thousand dollars for a class that kinda crazy priced! I went ahead and I'm having my Mr Gears do my floors, I'm hoping it does a good job so I don't have to..... it's a fine dust. I can always put the mop on him and have him go back over it though
I love our mini split too, they're great!
I need to straighten a couple things in my sewing room and then see what I'm working on today.

Good Frigid Morning!
Another day in the Below Zero Temps! Man I am sure looking forward to spring. I can't remember the last time I got out of the house. As far as I've been is only to take the garbage to the curb!
Marryz... So glad Bill got a hold of the developer, my guess is that he wasn't even aware that somebody was squatting in the house. Is there electricity or water going to the house? Maybe if that was all turned off it would be a deterrent? But on the other hand, anything INdoors would be better than sleeping on the street! This quilt is kind of giving me problems because the panel, from which you cut the center squares, was exactly printed correctly. The squares were supposed to be cut at 12" but to get them ALL the same size I had to cut at 11.5"--which mean adjusting everything around them. I did call Northern Threads/Marie Noah and they weren't really a lot of help other than... "yes, you'll have to adjust everything"
Jana... Sounds like we are under the same weather pattern!! I'd just like it to get warm enough that I can go outside without freezer the inside of my nose!
Tina... My goodness, you've sure had a house full of sickies!! Is your foot feeling any better? The wind is so bad that had to close roads? I thought that only happened in Minnesota Blizzards!
Judi.... Have a safe Trip!!! I'm guessing you will arrive to Florida sometime tomorrow? It's a two day trip?
Lyn... Yup, those wax rings get old!!! When they built my house, they "forgot" to put a ring on my lower level toilet--oh such a mess and ruined the wood work. Hope you get to do some sewing today too! Did you ever find some Strawberry Shortcake fabric? I asked Katie, she didn't have any either.
Lori... I've been kind of out of the loop about your dad. How is he doing? Do you think he will be able to go back to his house or is he moved to assisted living?
Chriss.... Did you have an awesome Gramma day? Are Richard and Gloria both back to work now? I bet that baby is getting so fun. I've seen some cute baby videos on Facebook of little ones laughing etc and it just makes my day. How can you not smile and just glow watching a baby laugh and smile!
So yes, I did get the Alaska quilt all put together, laid it out on the floor to measure for the borders, and discovered I had sewn the columns incorrectly, so I had a date with Jack and we took it apart. Thankfully it's an easy fix and I will do that today and hopefully get all 3 borders on without error. Will post a photo later.
As usual, my coffee is cold and I need to clean up the mess in the kitchen, but after that you will find me in the sewing room!
Wishing you all a Wonderful Wednesday

Calling for rain today, 46Β° right now.
MaryZ, You must have scored at the QS going out of business to be washing that much fabric. How's your Chiropractor doing after his accident?
Jana, Early Happy Birthday. What's your favorite food at a Mexican restaurant? I like Enchiladas. I like the mini split the guy installed, but I need to call and ask some questions about running it from my phone.
Tina, Take it easy on that foot. Hope the wind dies down.
Judi, Safe travels.
MaryQ, I gave Carol suggestions on finding the fabric, thanks for checking your suppliers.
Lori, Seeing Dad decline is not fun, I know. Sending you hugs
The plumber came back yesterday and replaced the supply line to the toilet. Besides being corroded, he showed me that there was a rock in the hose. Our city water lines have had several breaks the last few months and he figures that's how the rock got there.
This plumbing/septic company is a family operation. The plumber's SIL, Amy, called me this morning to tell me the amount. Have you ever found God crossing your path with another person because you have information to share? That's what happened while talking to Amy. We each had information the other needed to know. For me, she had a suggestion of a Dr in the area.
I know some people aren't happy with Elon Musk, but I just read that FEMA gave $59 million dollars to luxury hotels in NY to house illegal immigrants. I thought that money was for disasters. I'll get off my soap box.
Don't have anyone coming to do anything today, so no interruptions just sewing. Depending on what I get done the next few days, I think we'll head back to the coast Saturday or Sunday.
Hope you're day includes sewing, too.
Lyn

Favorite Mexican food - rice and beans with a good mole sauce and a chile rellano. Oh, and Matt taught us, that you mix the rice and beans together, on your plate. That's how it's done in Costa Rica, where he served his mission, living there for 2 years. When he cooks Latin food, he cooks his black beans in a condiment named Salsa Lizano. It's really good. I have even learn to make homemade tortillas. Yummy!

Re: WEDNESDAY, February 12th, 2025
Good morning, the calm before the storm. Today will be a nice day and tomorrow is supposed to bring more rain than a person can endure. We will see.
Yesterday was fun.
I do have some silly boys.
Tomorrow we go to the Tulare Ag Show. I get to drive. It's supposed to rain all day but the event is held inside of buildings. Not sure how long we will be there, one of the ladies going doesn't walk well and will likely want to rest often, but it will be an outing and I will surely see some things that that are new to me.
Today I will do a few errands and get ready to do my taxes. Yay me.
Maryz, Jerry had saved so many gallons of water because when the fires were going on there was a power outage that lasted days. We cant flush with no power because we are on a well with an electric pump. Since the fires all the power poles and lines have been replaced and it's like new. Unless there is a fire I don't think we will be out for days.
Judi, isn't a clean fridge beautiful. The glass shelves and bins shine. You don't realize how pretty it can be until you give it a little soap and water. Have an uneventful trip and a great time.
Lyn, I was thinking, for curtains in my sewing room, I have so many 5 inch squares maybe I'd just sew them all together to make curtains. Glad things are moving forward, can't wait till you plug in that machine and have a play day. Yes, I often see how God puts things in my path. And I see how he works me into other people's paths. It's pretty cool isn't it? I think my favorite Mexican food dish is a chili relleno. I like it with beans and rice and mix everything up together and use tortilla chips as a scoop instead of a fork.
Lori, each time you mention cleaning at your dad's I think of the huge job I will have cleaning at my dad's one day. So much stuff that hasn't seen daylight in years. I am glad those boys got a walk in. Not a lot is worse than sad doggy faces.
Jana, I also would love the stained glass exhibit. We have a stained glass shop in Mairposa that sometimes offers classes. They cost about $65 but you come home with a little stained glass something that you can hang in your window. I just typed to Lyn my fav Mex food dish and then read yours. Too funny, I think Matt and I might be twins?
Tina, hope everyone is healthy soon at your house. No fun to be sick. I had a clothes line, a tree took it out. But it's too cold to hang clothes out now anyway, I will have a clothes line in time for spring.
Maryq, yes, both kids are back at work. She works two days in the office and two at home. He teaches mostly night classes and works day classes while she's at home. They have a good setup and don't need a lot of help. Elliott now rolls over and is doing his best to scoot. wow, you are really getting that Alaska quilt done.
My plan today is to first, shower and have breakfast. Do a little cleaning. Meet a young lady at noon who wants to learn to make a quilt that has a 9 patch in each corner and alternating squares in the center. Then I will go into town and fill up with gas and get some money so I can go to the farm show tomorrow.
Hope you all have a marvelous day,
Chriss

Hope you all have a marvelous day,
Chriss
