SATURDAY, February 1st, 2025
Good morning
Happy February!! I've been putting 2025 every place I can just to stick it in my brain. Because since we no longer write more than a few birthday checks every year, there's no place to write 2 0 2 5 and I keep forgetting how far into the future we are now living.
LOIS - I consider going to the phone store one of the worst tortures known to the shopping world
FLO - I have my mom's recipe for sour dough bread, but never made it. Maybe I should give it a try.
JUDI - how was dinner with your friends last night? Was Val using the eliptical before her treatment?
CHRISS - I bet your folks are thrilled to have a new housekeeper! So sweet of you! And the purrfect way to return the favor for the things he's been doing for you. Isn't an atmospheric river what they used to call a pineapple express? I think pineapple express is a more colorful term to use for a downpour. They are talking snow this weekend where I live in Puget Sound, though we usually don't get more than just enough to dust the trees.
VAL - every single woman I know who's husband has retired has been in danger of having to do 20-life. I hope your hubby gets himself a good hobby! It's an adjustment having him home all day, every day. Bill has had several hobbies but never sticks with them. He spends most of his time playing on his computer. He does go to the "Y" 3x/week, though. And he does do a lot of repairs/upgrades to the house, car, truck, and trailer so that gives me a little bit of indoor peace n quiet. OH - by the way, when planning your trip, don't forget to figure in time zone changes. On your way to Rock Springs you will lose an hour. Today, we'll be gaining an hour!! Yay for gaining! Don't forget - this trip is to be enjoyed.
TINA - no, Amara doesn't have a tablet. She's only 22 months. I think they want to keep her from screens as long as they can. We sent her a 10-sec video and 3 pictures last night. Daddy said she loved them. He sends us the same every day. It never occurred to us until yesterday that we could do the same so she doesn't forget us! Maybe we'll see you this afternoon? We are leaving from Ft Stockton. I think that's about 370 miles to Deming. We'll probably arrive at Dream Catcher 4-5pm ish. Have to stop at Walmart first and then I need to do a load of laundry at the RV park.
LYN - that is a bummer about the floor. Can you start moving stuff in after floor is laid? We zipped by Coopers and it rang a bell in my mind that that was the one you had mentioned a few times. Yes, Mom made 6 loaves of bread every day. She bought flour in 50# fabric flour sacks. I remember her making dresses from them. We had 6 kids in our family spread over 17 years. And we were the gathering place for all my teen brothers' friends. They ate a lot!
MARY Q - You are right - on our way home, the barn is our focus. Bill says it's me, but I notice he's up earlier to hit road as we get closer to home, and he just was quoting me our mileage for today. He was 50 miles short (300) but he said that's what he's going with! lol! I remember going to that LQS in Anchorage. I think they were closed and gone last August, too.
JANA - a new Christmas book, you say? At Art to Heart? Hm...... maybe I should check that out.
Well, today will be another long day on I-10. It's a good route and traffic was light yesterday. I-20, a big trucking route, will join '10' today so traffic will pick up. And El Paso is never any fun. But once we're on the other side, it will be good traveling until Tuscon, which is easier to drive through than El Paso. Tonite's supper will be leftover goulash. Not Hungarian, but Mom's old macaroni/hamburger/tomato/onion recipe. And a salad.
Take care! I'll check in on my phone later down the road.

Morning
Maryz & Maryq, if you have access to starter give it a try. If you don't have starter there are many ways to make it and you can buy dehydrated starter on Amazon.
Woke up with sore throat this morning, so will stay down. Yesterday I picked up a couple long zippers at local thrift shop...may make another purse.

It's a wonderful Saturday!!
The floor guys arrived just after 8.
Chriss, Thanks for thinking of me. There are lots of women who drive their MH. We met a single lady in her 40's, and 2 dogs. She drives a Newmar London Aire and has her vehicle in tow. She travels the country by herself.
MaryZ, 370 miles today is a long stretch. We do a day like that going to Canada. Safe travels and if you see Tina, give her an extra hug, please.
Judi, I will pass you in the laundry room.
Flo, I hope you're not coming down with something. I tried my hand at sourdough back in the 80's.
After laundry is started, I will try making some bias binding for the table runner.
Have a blessed day.
Lyn

Re: SATURDAY, February 1st, 2025
Good morning!
That storm approaching will nail us here. As far as I'm concerned, it's the pineapple express!
Sarah makes sourdough bread and I'm the lucky recipient of a loaf. If she needs starter, our local grocery store will sell her some. That store makes the closest sourdough here to what we would get on the wharf, in the city.
I've got more interesting stories. This one is Mr G. He's always putting his cane somewhere and not paying attention to where. So as we leave, we play where's the cane. So to be a leg up on winning that game, I ordered some air tags, one especially for that darn cane. The tags arrived and I had them set where I knew they were, safely until Sarah could install the apps on the phones. Well Mr G decided to help me straighten up and he didn't know what was in that box and moved it. Yes, the tracking devices used to find things are now missing! I instigated a search and found the missing tags, to which, until Sarah is here today, will stay in my purse. Mr G absolutely never, ever, gets in my purse, so they are safe. He won't get in my purse even if I tell him too. He just brings the purse to wherever I am.
After straightening the kitchen, I'll be in the Batt Cave. I saw a new decorating idea, using a old ladder with a quilt, nothing new about that idea. But instead of a whole quilt, it was what they called a ladder panel. Tweaked my interest. The panel was really cute, until I saw the price for the kit - 180 dollars and you still needed to buy the pattern, another large chunk of money. Interest deflated fast! And it was a pre-order, not even out yet! I have a perfect spot for a ladder display, but it will wait, for a long time!
Enjoy the day, doing fun stuff!
Hugs,
Jana

Re: SATURDAY, February 1st, 2025
Good morning everyone
Just texted Maryz, she's a couple hours away. I wish I knew a way to go around El Paso so they don't have to go through those skinny cement barrier 1 lane traffic! When I drove through it a few months ago I was saying bad words in my mind at Frankie in Holly's vehicle that he was driving for taking me through it, I was following him.
Maryz, I think Amara should have a tablet just for screen time with you guys
it can be put up all the rest of the time. Aww that's sweet for you both to send back and forth. Matthew has a watch type thing and he can text or send voice messages, I get voice messages that makes my heart happy
Safe travels! See you later today
Judi, that monitor sounds like such a pain....I hope they get enough info from it so you don't have to repeat using it. I get sidetracked easily too.....my main problem though is my brain thinks I can get things done way faster than I actually can!
Flo, I used to have a starter too, I have seen a recipe for it and keep thinking I should do that but then I think I shouldn't cause I'd want to eat what I bake.
Lyn, I'll make sure I get your hug from MZ
thanks. I sure hope your floor gets fixed all up right soon.
Jana, when is the storm supposed to hit there? I bet Daniel could look at that picture of the ladder and make it for pennies on the dollar
I'm kinda just goofing off today, trying to not do anything that will mess up me getting around till after we go see Mary and Bill.
I have been using my left foot when I sew, it helps a little but I still have to limit how long I'm sitting with my foot down......I have to limit how much I'm on it and how much I sit with it up too
I'm a mess. Dr's appointment is next week
I just did my pre-appointment paperwork last night that they sent me.
Jazmyne went home last night, she goes home on the weekend and she'll be back Sunday before supper.
We're having leftovers for supper, California Chicken ring, it's one of Jazmyne's favorites and we had that last night. I'm surprised she likes it so much because it has kale in it.
You all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need

WooHoo the floor is done, just need the transition piece at the door. HVAC guy will hopefully be here Tuesday. There's an interface part that was mailed yesterday and should be at his shop on Monday. It will allow me to change the temp in my Cabin from my phone wherever I am. House thermostat does that, very handy.
Tina, Please hug MaryZ for me, too. I wished Garry hadn't gotten sick, causing me to have to miss out on helping her with the last class.

Re: SATURDAY, February 1st, 2025
Good afternoon. It's been a busy morning. The rain that has been promised either isn't here yet or has skipped me all together. Perhaps next week?
This morning I went with a friend to that rummage sale and tonight will go to the crab feed at the Elks lodge. My goal, don't fill up on coleslaw and bread but those things are good too. Perhaps, depending on the bread, I will have a sandwich? I've never been to a crab feed so this will be a first for me.
Spent $7 at the rummage sale. Found a denim skirt and a travel size iron, Sunbeam. I also found a brand new pair of socks for Elliott, they have monsters on them and are brand new.
Maryz, my grandma was born in ElPaso. She lived someplace near the rr tracks. Not sure if that is where the convent was. Her mom had to work while her dad was in prison for bootlegging. She was in a convent while growing up. Wish I knew the whole story, she only talked bout the negative stuff. I also get daily baby pictures. Isn't it wonderful. I also think the atmospheric river used to be a pineapple express. I think they changed it because it wasn't fair to the other fruits. The mango's and bananas were threatening a lawsuit.
Judi, I love chicken fried steak, glad you had a good meal. I'm not going to do housework today. I did finally do the dishes I left from yesterday. Sometimes there are so few dishes that it's not worth filling the sink with suds.
Flo, I often see free starter here. Making sourdough bread is a thing here too. Some day I am going to make a purse / tote with a zipper, I just need to work up the courage. Jana has given me directions more than once and it looks doable, I just need to get over being afraid to mess it up, like it can't be corrected right?
Lyn, what are you going to call your cabin / shed / shack / studio ? Does it need a chandelier? Yay for a new floor. Bet it's beautiful.
Jana, I like the ladder quilt idea but you surely can make it happen for much less than $180. Hope you have enough air tage to keep track of Michaels things.
Tina, does your machine have one of those attachments that you use your knee to make it work. Taht Jazmyne is so smart. I would also be at your house in time for dinner. Have a fun visit with MZ.
Well that's it for me. Had some yogurt and crock pot granola this morning and am trying to saving my appetite for dinner tonight.
You all have a groovy day.
