Good morning,

I can't believe tomorrow is February where did January go.
Yesterday we went and picked up our phones it nice to have a new phone but we were there for 3hrs while transfers were being done I still can't find my emails but that will be today's big adventure we only live a few minutes from the store this phone is similar to an iPhone and it will take sometime to get use to.
I didn't get anything done on my February block so that's what I will work on.
Mary z I did the same thing you did but I don't care it will live in my house.

Weather is going to be rain all day on and off.
I don't know what dinner will be.
I hope you all have a great day.
Safe travels to to ever is traveling.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Morning Lois and all to follow,
Maryq, sourdough is more than bead...there's muffins, cinnamon rolls & pizza crust for a few other. Sourdough is supposed to be gut friendly.
Yesterday was about catching up, and all that's left is bathe SJ and clean master bathroom.
Joe and I went to tractor supply in the Fiat. We got 2 50 lb bags of chicken feed and 2 big cubes of pine shavings for chicken coop....boy was that car full! Not the first time we did this to a Fiat. We once picked up our kitchen stove in one. We stayed off the freeway & couldn't close back hatch. We laughed about it on way home.
Have a lot of smiles today.

Good morning,

LYN - you must be beyond frustrated with construction folks by now. Maybe Jana would loan you some of her Calgon? Our route? 290 from Houston to Geotown, then 29 west to Junction. Isn't it Coopers BBQ in Llano you really like? We passed that, though Inman's BBQ, too, wasn't not far from Coopers. Bill said he saw another Coopers here in Junction.

JANA - could you share some Calgon with Lyn? I think she could use a shot of it! The excitement never ends at your house, does it. A flaming garbage truck? I wonder what someone threw away that caught fire . . I bet Winco wasn't too happy about their parking lot. And put your hands high in the air! Your chair, your chair, your chair is there! And now you have some screws to share, cuz there's screws everywhere!

LORI - Glad you noticed from the start that the"rolling hills" seams in your OWL blocks backgrounds match. I kicked myself from Sunday to Sunday for not catching that for the first 4 or 5 blocks. But it took me a month to make those first few blocks one block at a time and I Just didn't pay attention, I guess. Our first stop was Junction, Texas, where we finally hit I-10. We found, right off the highway, a very nice, new to us, RV park. Used to be an old KOA. Right on the Llano River. Very pretty and A good place to let Foxy out to roll around in the grass. He was a happy cat.

VAL - Lyn had a good idea to take both your vehicles for a long test drive/ride. What kind of truck do you have? Does it have - or need - running boards for you to be able to get in/out easily? Our truck (2015 1-Ton Dodge with 4WD) left my low back and hips grumbling after a long day in the saddle, which is the only time I ride in the truck. We had to get running boards and Bill got me "booster seat". He ordered it from Oregon Aero in Scapoose, Oregon that makes them for airline pilots. It has a removable back support and you can have them made in different thicknesses. Mine is 2". Bill borrowed it for a while, liked it so much, he ordered one for himself, but 1" thick. It really helps. They are very expensive (mine was ~$200+) but for us, worth it because we travel a lot. He thinks they are available on Amazon now, too. They came in different colors. We just drove I-80 across WY and we ran into quite a bit of snow the first week of Nov. That route is always a wind tunnel, almost always blowing eastward. Sometimes the freeway is closed down because of the wind. Everyone travels differently, but at any age, 13 hours - and I know that's a very conservative estimate - is really a LOT of hours in the saddle.

MARY Q - We have i-phones. My sis and dbil have Androids, hand me downs from their DD & DSIL. A few years ago Bill thought he would get an android. After a year, he gave it up. Just unnecessarily complicated. My sis really struggles with hers but they are tied into the DD's family plan so they don't really have a choice. I had that Needle Travel app on my phone but it's disappeared. Not sure when, but I just noticed last year. Maybe when I got a new phone a few years ago? But to be honest, unless we are staying somewhere for quite a while, I don't look up quilt shops because they don't usually have enough room to maneuver and park a 30' fifth-wheel. And when just overnighting, we don't unhitch unless we have to to fit into our site or level the trailer. So, hitting any kind of shopping without big parking lots isn't feasible for us. Congrats on finishing that Christmas quilt. A table topper is a nice use for it. I often don't use batting when making tablerunners or toppers. I use flannel instead. It gives a nicer drape. I use the leftovers from my flannel backings for batting.

FLO - that's a lot of bread but I bet it was all tasty!! When I was little my mom used to make 6 loaves of bread a day, hide one for supper that night and two for school lunches the next day. My 3 teenaged brothers and usually some of their friends, came home from school and tore into those warm loaves - no cutting, they tore them apart - and slathered them with homemade butter and stood around the kitchen gobbling them down, sharing chunks with us little girls. You've reminded me of a great memory!

JUDI - happy birthday plus a day to your Val! Good to hear she is getting back to her regular routine. So wonderful of your group to help and encourage newbies. It's my understanding that the quilting group that meets at Autumn's library isn't very welcoming to new quilters which is why I was asked to teach a class. Well, word got to the quilt group, they came to check me and my class out. I was, after all, sort of trespassing on their turf. So now I hear they've issued invitations for new members to join their group. So maybe they've changed their philosophy a bit and will offer to do classes themselves. Your sister will have fun doing OWL. I think I only cut out one or two blocks at a time. Even tagging and bagging pieces, I can get confused too easily!

CHRISS - how was Gramma Thursday?

TINA - how are things going in Deming? Doing any sewing lately? We will roll into Deming mid afternoon tomorrow, I think. We'll go first to Walmart because there's room for the trailer there and pick up a few things, then back to Dream Catcher RV park when I plan to do a load of laundry. If you're in town and have time, stop by for a quick 'howdy'! Because of a possibly bad front landing gear we can't unhitch until we get home so we're not making any side trips this year.

LOIS - Have fun with your phone adventure! I hope all your stuff is there.

Yesterday was a long day and the first half of it was pretty stressful. We left Houston before 5am to beat rush hour traffic. It took us almost 2 hours to clear all the urban area - in the dark and the rain. We beat that big storm, though did run into hard rain for a couple hours. By the time we passed Austin it was starting to clear and we had blue skies when we reached Junction. 7 hours/325 miles later we were sitting outside, in sunshine! But tired. We both took naps. Then we got to facetime with Amara! She looked confused to see us on a little screen but not in her playroom, rolling on the floor with her! lol!

Today should be a smooth run along I-10 with no big cities to deal with - only semi's. Just 200 miles today to Fort Stockton and a good weather forecast. For supper, I took something out of the freezer to thaw. I forget what it is - probably pasta of some kind. It's in a foil covered casserole. That and a salad will be our supper tonite.

That's all for now!

Good morning!

Quite warm today, but it's the warm before the storm. Rain/snow this weekend. The they can't decide on which.

Mr G got new glasses yesterday. The Dr changed his prescription and there will be no bifocals. His distance ones, he normally wears will be one pair and there will be a second pair to read and do close work. Now I have to keep track of two! But that's really OK. We have been worried about not seeing steps and falling because of the bifocals.. This will help.

Today will be spent in the Batt Cave! Putting my new chair to good use! Many squirrels to corral down there. One will be the OWL block that needs the blanket stitching. I organized my embroidery thread on the new thread holders the other day, so now I can match the thread to the OWL pieces. Thanks to Lois, when I started OWL, she got a copy of the shop keepers cutting guide to make kits from. It has the color chart with each fabric and placement. Very handy! Just for S and G's, I went and looked at Art to Heart website for any new stuff. A new Christmas book, but I behaved. I do need a run over to the LQS and check on fusible. I have plenty for the time being, but will run out in a bit.

Sarah has been busy straightening out the previous bookkeepers errors. She's finally got the worst fixed. It was a terrible mess! Sarah was against the deadline of getting out IRS tax forms to the employees. She can do those now.

Well so far no helicopters, and no flaming garbage trucks, but the day is young!

Enjoy your fun!
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning Girls

Happy Friday! I remember always being so excited for Friday... with a free weekend ahead-- Now it's just another day !

Lois... You know, I've been wondering the same thing----where did January go! I was looking at the calendar last night to mark some future events on my kitchen calendar and it hit me! January is GONE! I don't like that it's going quite so fast, even tho I am anxious for Spring. Yikes... it took 3 hours to get your stuff transferred to a new phone!!! Phone technology amazes me sometimes. From my phone I can see where Kris or Evie are at any given moment! And Shawn can find me where ever I am with his phone! Which is kind of a good thing--especially if I get in an accident--oh wait --- I did!

Flo... There's a gal I've seen on FB that does a lot with sourdough, she makes rolls and pizza crust and all sorts of things. I contemplated trying it once, I have a good scale which I've heard is essential equipment. Do you have to recipe to make your own starter? Or do you have to find somebody else with it. I just might pick up some yeast when I get groceries tomorrow.

Maryz... Yeh, I can imagine you don't stop and shop too much along the way home. In all the little shops I've stopped at during my travels, and even the ones close to home I can't think of one where this is a big enough parking space for a 30' RV. There used to be a big quilt shop in Anchorage in a big mall on Old Seward, but it was closed one time when I was there. I'm guessing at this point you are just anxious to get home!!!

Judi.... Sounds like you are having the January thaw too! I think it got up to almost 50 here yesterday. I had to run over to Katie's and it was great to not even have to grab a sweatshirt! So good to hear that Val is doing better. So this treatment is supposed to stop any further progression? I wonder if something like that would work for Parkinson's as well. She's a brave gal to go through all that.

Jana.... My Mom's sister, we called her Aunt Pitty Pat (after the character in Gone with the Wind) always had 2 pairs of glasses too. She called one pair her "boy watching glasses"! She never married and truthfully was never interested in boys. How about putting on pair on a lanyard around his neck? Though I suppose that might make them easier to get scratched etc. I love my progressive lenses, but when I just want to sit and read a book, I grab a pair of cheaters $1.25 at the Dollar Tree.

So now my coffee is cold and I should probably get the music cranked up and decide which squirrel to chase today. I did start working a little bit on baby girl quilt. I discovered after actually reading the directions that I miscut the panel pieces I'm using, thankfully too big, so I had to spent a little time with Jack last night to remove a row of sashing all the way around. So I may play with that a little bit today. It's time to get groceries again, but I think I'm going to put that off until tomorrow when it's "shower day".

Hope all you guys have a great day! see you tomorrow

Breezy, Sunny and going to 70Β° today. It's going to be a wonderful day.

Lois, I hope you find your emails and enjoy your new phone.

Flo, I would have liked to see y'all hauling a stove in your Fiat. Lol

MaryZ, Hope today's travel goes well. Your Mom made 6 loaves of bread every day?? :o Yes, we have had Cooper's BBQ several times, eat there or I have brought home, like when my brother delivered the tractor. We've also had Inman's BBQ, also good.

This morning the owner of the flooring store came out and shook his head at how the cabin building Co. had put the metal piece at the door. He feels they can make it look good if they put a reducer there. Dana from floor store just called and this reducer has to be special ordered and will take 2 weeks. She's putting this charge on a different invoice and emailing it so I can pass it onto the cabin building Co., hoping they will pay for it. They will lay the floor and come back to install reducer, whenever we get back here to the house, from the coast.

Dinner will be Stuffed Beef Peppers in the Air Fryer. I'm adjusting a recipe to work in Air Fryer and made it last night, but only did 2 peppers because I split them and the 4 pieces filled the tray. They were good but I will lower the temp and cook a little longer.

Prayers for your needs.
Lyn

Good morning. What a productive day today will be. I'll go clean my dad's house, and hopefully go to the Catholic church rummage sale. If I don't get to that sale today I will get there tomorrow.

I was going to go to mail a package Saturday but might wait until Monday. I was told that the last day to return packages from Christmas for Amazon is today and I want to give the mailing place a cool off day before I go in there and have them pack and ship my item.

Yesterday was wonderful. My son had to meet with some school people, so Elliott and I walked for 1.6 miles. We had lots of fun. I'm not much of a distance driver. I mostly drive in my area so I know the roads but each time I go see the kids the path gets easier.

Tina, isn't it fun to have a kid come home and just yak away? And how cool is it to be the person they just blabber on to. Love that Jaz "slayed" them at the meeting.

Val, here it is, crock pot granola. I dont use all the same nuts they call for but in the end I do add 4 cups of a mixture of chopped nuts and seeds. Sometimes I add flax seed. I buy a bag of mixed nuts at Costco and chop them up. https://www.sugarfreemom.com/recipes/cr ... la/#recipe

Lyn, don't you just wish you could line up all the people involved in installing your sewing shack and give them a good smack? Hoping it all comes togethr soon, waiting is so difficult. I thought of you yesterday going over Pacheco Pass. A very long motor home with a big trailer behind it.

Jana, last piece of furniture I assmebled had extra screws and such leftover too. I think, in my next life, I want to either be the person who assembles those screw packages or the person who holds the stop sign during road construction. NOT. Hope you love your chair.

Lois, enjoy that rain, so much better than snow. We are supposed to see rain this week, Sure wish we were getting a lot of it, but probably not.

Flo, all that chicken feed, hope those chickens repay you with lots of eggs.

Maryz, Glad today's travels will be calmer. Isn't facetime wonderful

Times up. My friend just called to let me know we were walking. I need to get dressed. No clue what is for dinner, maybe taco salad.

Good morning everyone 🌞
Lois, I have android too, there's always a learning curve on new phones but thankfully no matter which kind we have as long as we keep getting that same kind they seem to be "related" and very similar.
Flo, I could picture that πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ too funny.
Maryz, does Amara have a tablet? My grands do and we FaceTime on them, it's better for us all to be able to see on a 7"-10"screen than the little phone screens. the tablets we all have were only $50 or less. I'll be home as far as I know tomorrow 😁 just let me know what time and I should be able to go over for a visit 😁 it's supposed to be pretty weather for a week, luckily you missed yesterday's yuckiness.....it was a total brownout!
Judi, I love country fried steak! It's been my go to meal since I was a kid when eating out....now I hardly eat it or out but every once in awhile I get that still, yummy!
So glad to hear Val is making headway! Yikes 60k is expensive but I bet if it works it's worth every penny ❀️
Jana, I'd like some rain but wait till Mary and Bill get past here. I just match my thread as best as I can with whatever fabrics I'm using, Frankie says I have too many spools of thread LOL he's a real comedian πŸ˜‰
Maryq, oh yucky to have to frog so much, I hope you have it all figured out now! Do you have your car back from Evie yet? Will she be getting a newer vehicle or is hers being fixed?
Lyn, oh my goodness that's crazy about your piece wasn't made right, I hope they get it all fixed at no cost to you! Bummer it's adding at least 2 more weeks to completion too.
Chriss, it's the best to have a jabberbox for sure! Last night when we were tucking her in to bed (yep we still do that with them all when they stay over) she had me lay in bed beside her and we took turns rubbing each other's backs ❀️ and chit chatting πŸ’• I thought "I'm gonna miss this" brought a lump to my throat. I'd stay clear of mailing places too for a few days if I were you, they're gonna be overwhelmed with last minute returns yikes!
I was thinking about giving the dogs a bath but think I'll wait till Sunday so I don't get myself down before Mary and Bill get here. Jazmyne said she's bringing some friends over today, she brought 5 two days ago, I made brownies and pizza for them all. They played Payday and Monopoly, they all seem really nice 😊 they are very appreciative of eating 😁
Think I'll see what I can do in my sewing room today, OWL sounds fun and I can sit for most of that.
You all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need πŸ™
Tina

Good morning and TGIF. With changes in DH work rules he is no longer able to work Fridays for the OT so he is home. He really just gets in the way, but I knew the OT wouldn't last forever. That is the one thing I think about once we are both retired, I will need to find things for him to do so he is out of the way.

Jana went and checked on my chair yesterday. They have a tracking number. The store owner actually reordered mine and a two other peoples as things were not moving. They are having issues with deliveries. Baby lock sent them things they didn't order and the stuff they ordered is nowhere to be found. I have had 3 delays in mail processing/delivering since Christmas. Realized this AM I forgot to ask about my machine cover as the one they gave me is the wrong one. I will call today. I was going to get two pair of glasses the last time but ended up getting the progressive lenses. I did get a separate pair of sunglassed though. I also have a time holding onto my glasses. Tried one of those things around your neck, YUP, lost that too!

Chriss thanks for the link for the granola. Not sure I can find all those ingrediants around here. Especially the Monk fruit sweetener. Maybe Whole Foods or Trader Joes? Glad you got that walk in with Elliot. Nice for him to be outside and get some fresh air. Our weather man is calling for an atmospheric river up here. I think I saw 4 - 6 inches on the news last night. They usually over predict so who knows. We are having light rain this AM. Hope you and your friend have a nice walk. Stay warm.

Lyn you are really having a time with that cabin. Wonder if this is all normal for these?

Maryq my coffee is always cold by the time I finish with it. I have a panel to put together for Xavier. I feel like I am falling behind with my quilting but guess nothing I can do about it.

Judi doesn't sound like snow for you today. Every minute on that eliptical is one minute closer to improvement. Sounds like she is determined and that is half the battle.

Maryz we have been on long rides in both vehicles. I think they are equally the same. The bigger issue is my back. Yes truck has running boards. He has a 2018 Dodge Ram also with 4WD. Not sure about the tonage. My friend got me a back cushion a couple of years ago that you sit on and is supposed to relieve the pressure in your back. Not sure it really works all that much. I take it to Free Sew sometimes. I think DH is just unrealistic about things. I will look at it myself. I guess I might just have to skip my surprise as it is 2316 miles away. I could leave Wednesday night after my sew thing. It's done at 4:40. Elko is 6 - 7 hours, I have time to figure this out. What day do you expect to arrive home?

Flo sourdough is the only kind of bread I eat. I need to start looking into homemade.

Lois DH just got a new phone and it took a long time for his info to transfer also. I think we will have left over ribs from last night for dinner.

Well, I really need to get cleaned up and dressed. I did do one of my classes for work this AM. I am down to one patient so unless something changes soon, I may quit early. We have no real marketer at this point so admissions are few and the full time nurse is gettng most of the patients. I just get the left overs or ones she doesn't want to go see. She won't go to Napa or upper part of the Napa Valley. It's a gorgeous drive but is one lane each direction most of the way. There is just be and one Case Manager who will go there.

Have a great day everyone! :)
A Friend is God's way of making sure we never walk alone!
