We finally made it here. It was foggy, rained most of the 160 miles, and as we got close to Houston I-10 increased from 4 to 10 and, at one point, 12 lanes of zooming traffic. We missed our exit but made up for it by later taking a wrong one. There were many miles of major construction, and when we stopped for fuel I went inside the trailer for a bottle of water and found olive oil all over the floor and soaking the carpet edges. I'd forgotten to stow the decanter away. I used the last of our paper towels trying to clean it up and when we finally got to our destination, spent quite a while on my hands and knees washing the floor with Dawn dish soap and then vinegar. What a mess! We parked in pouring rain, thunder, and lightening and I had to stand outside, directing my driver. I was totally soaked. So - are you laughing yet? We are just glad we made it without another accident! Today we'll meet Cindy for lunch at a Mexican restaurant about 17 miles from here. We are in the SW part of the city and she is NW. We will also pick up a few groceries and some more paper towels, Dawn, and olive oil. Bill's dr appts are tomorrow and Wednesday.
LOIS - glad you are back! And with a fresh new haircut! I am SOOO overdue. I'm to the point now where maybe I'll just let it grow out some more and start wearing a pony tail. So, how much longer before Sandi can start sewing? You are such a sweet mom to wait on her! That snowman is great fun to sew! Will you be using the same fabrics? Working from your stash or did you buy kits? I did mine from my stash but the fabrics pretty much match the pattern photo.
BECCA - It's really nice to see you here! I've been thinking of you, hoping all is well. A baptism! That's so wonderful! And when will you get to see Frankie again? I wish she lived closer to you. Or you to her. They are so fun at this age when even the littlest thing is enthralling to them. Sorry your muscles are sore. You keep pretty active and engaged in life and that's probably the best and most important thing you can do.
JANA - I didn't realize you were waiting on a new chair. I must have missed that. But I'm sure you can find something quilt-related to keep you entertained until Thursday. I love those plastic flamingoes, too, and have one in my yard.
JUDI - I cannot believe Ryker is 9! How do these things keep happening! But what a memorable birthday he had!

MARY Q - I wouldn't have called yesterday "a short drive". We were pretty frazzled by the time we got parked in our new spot - 5 hours of hard, un-fun driving in terrible weather, pulling a trailer. And you know how we feel about Texas drivers! Are flamingos a 'thing' for all Airstreams or just your DB? How are the baby quilts coming along?
CHRISS - we use our dishwasher all the time. We run it 3 or 4 times a week. About once a year I bring all the trailer dishes, pots, pans into the house and run them through the dishwasher. I use it to wash fridge parts, pet dishes, drawer dividers, and even my countertop dish drainer! Because I do do some of the big stuff by hand. But even if you don't use it, you should still run it once a month or so to keep the gaskets from drying out which can cause leaks.
TINA - too bad we're going west next week instead of east - we could bring Chriss's machine to you! And btw, we will probably be in Deming Feb 4. But one of our trailer landing gears isn't behaving like it should so once we get hitched up again here in Houston Bill says he's not unhitching again until we get home. So we won't be able to stop by for a visit, but if you're not too busy, you're invited to come by and visit with us! You know where we 'live' when we're in Deming! In the meantime, B is watching videos about landing gears to see if he can learn what's going on.
LYN - love your photos! What are the dimensions of your Quilting Cabin? I know you've told us but my memory needs refreshment. What are the dimensions of that high storage cubby? If I put my batting up in a place like that at our house I'd probably have nesting squirrels as soon as I turned my back!
LORI - those are cute projects! Your friend will love them. Smart to use your pretty machine stitches!
So, today will be a short grocery shopping trip on our way back from lunch with Cindy. I'll be sure to deliver all your special messages to her! She does keep her hand in quilting and she and Sue get together most Wednesdays to work on charitable quilting projects. I'm still stitching away on my embroidery project. I've got a mind set now that I want it FINISHED by the time we get home. And it's about 3/4 done. Of course, this is only the second of three panels but it's the one with the most stitching. Part of this project is traditional quilting with blocks between the embroidered panels and flying geese flying around the borders. Those are also done. It's just the embroidery that is hung up in production. The rain is starting up again. T-storms are forecast for our entire time in Houston so it should be a fun time here. Or not.

Stay dry! Stay warm! Stay safe!
