Good morning,

I have lots to share. Sorry. But you guys are all my "share buddies" - so get your coffee and get comfy!!

Item #1 - Today is the last of my three quilt classes. We're going to work on finishing our star blocks for those who haven't yet, adding borders, quilting, and binding. I already know next year - and yep, it looks like I'm going to do this again next year - we'll do just ONE block instead of three and we'll call it a small table topper, large mug rug, or wall hanging. Maybe 16" square? I'm taking ideas, suggestions, advice for next year if you have any. I'm making a list, and plan to rock this class next year!

Item #2 - my poor Autumn sliced the tip of her finger off!! All dermal layers down to her "Inner Autumn". (You didn't really want me to day 'meat', did you?) She was trying to peel a sweet potato. Her finger will probably have a slightly irregular look from now on. So today, Pop (that's Bill) went out and bought her some finger bandages and more Neosporin. She is going to need bandages for quite a while. She does a lot of typing in her job.

Item #3 - The Arctic blast that is sweeping the nation is hitting here, too. So, because of the intense cold and possible snow, the entire M.D. Anderson Medical Center in Houston is closing down Jan 21 and 22. Bill's appts are Jan 21 and Jan 22! So his appts have been moved back a week. Then we had to change our rezzie for the RV park in Houston, extend our present stay in Austin, cancel a Feb 6th appt I had at home, let Cindy and Sue know our playdate had changed (and now Sue can't make it), and then tell the A-Team we're here until Jan 26. This means my quilts can hang an extra week at the library! :D Plus, we get an extra week with Lil Miss!

JUDI - I love yo-yo's, too. They are relaxing to me. I like to use the yo-yo makers so they are all purrfect. I have close to 200 made. You talking about them, and Aut confiscating my YoYo quilt is kind of putting me back in the mood. They are so portable and take little space for traveling. Now I wish I'd brought my yoyo maker and all my scraps! As to names, I love what the littles come up with when naming their grandparents. My kids called my DMIL "Bummer". It was how Lara said Gramma. My mom was Nana. (Nah-nah, not Naa=naa). Both grandpas were Papa. We are Nonnie and Pop - christened by our oldest grandson, Drew. My BFF is "Miama" and remember Georgiapeach (Pam) from years ago? She's Big Mama.

LOIS - My Bill also received that same e-mail supposedly from you. Somewhere, someone has been hacked. I hate that there are so many evil people in the world.

FLO - congrats on making that denim purse! I haven't seen it because I don't do much on FB but I bet it's a beauty. It would be great if you could post it on our forum! I love denim and am almost tempted to try one myself, but not quite.

JANA - Sorry about the lost meter. Is it possible that you could design, make, (and sell and realize your fortune!) a case for that meter so that it could go around with Mr. G? Perhaps cross body design or something that attaches to his suspenders or loops through his belt? You say that the monitor isn't reliable for 12 hours so would it help to make your changes in early morning so the 'bugs' are worked out by bedtime?

VAL - sorry your post went *POOF*! It happens. Just so your playtime doesn't go poof!

LYN - I know Sue loves that same Pecan Coffee. Us - not so much. I hope Garry is doing much better and that he hasn't shared it with you. Glad you remembered, late as it was, to get everything ready for the survey guys.

MARY Q - I lay awake at night thinking of all sorts of things! Depends on what's going on in my life - getting ready to travel, company, holidays, happy dates, sad dates, quilting, family drama, shopping, etc. Back in my dancing days I choreographed entire routines and designed costumes.

TINA! - I'm not a big fan of standing for long periods of time at the LA either. But sometimes I put a project on the frame and do a little just a few minutes at a time over several days in between working on other things. Before long, voila`! it's done!

CHRISS - how was Gramma Thursday? Or is it still going on?

So yesterday was all about Amara. I got her mostly to myself as Pop was busy trying to reschedule our lives. We thought this was going to be our big goodbye, but thanks to Ma Nature, we have another week to play! So today will be my last quilt class. It usually goes for about 3 hours and I'm curious to see if anyone made any progress on their own this week - aka did their homework. Chicken soup was our supper last night along with some Red Lobster biscuits. It was a big pot so we have enough for tonite and enough to put one meal into the freezer. For a change of pace, and to make more soup, I added a can of beans which a tasty twist.

Happy weekend!

Maryz, I have trouble posting here, but will reach out to Chriss to post for me.
This morning we are going into city to pick up a new to me Fiat. It's my third Fiat in 20 yrs. Still the small 2 door, but very low mileage and a great price. It's a 2014 and light blue. I'm naming it Piccolo, which is Italian for little.
So excited, couldn't sleep last night.

Good Morning,,It is raining right now yes I said raining and 36 out there,,,the temps are dropping and by tonight e will be in the single digits. I dont plan on going anywhere and Ken is still sleeping so I dont know his plans...I will probably sew today see if i can get the blocks made, And I did make up a package of yoyos to take with me to Florida,
My cardiologist appt went ok. He has taken the disgnosis of afib away says I dont have it,,but something called SVT which is fancy for rapid heart beat, I will get in the next 2 weeks a monitor to wear for a month, It should show him how many episodes I actually have, ( last time I had none) it is waterproof so no worries about the pool and hot tub in florida. Then if I have enough problems I will need and ablation where they zap the errant circuit in your heart. Heres hoping I need none of it,,I feel fine but it is what it is,
Liam is sick has a bad cold so no hockey today,,,But Im sure everyone will be in front of their tvs to watch championship football...go Lions. I will keep in touch but you know hockey is my game...
I am curious to see how many of us got the errant email from Lois. It will be a sign to change all of our passwords again...According to the folks who know we should change them frequently anyway...I dont but should. I am running out of usable passwords..that I can rememeber.
I love hearing all the names us Grammas and grampas have. Ken is grampa to all of the older kids and the younger ones all callhim Pa He loves it because he called his grampa PA too.
Well I need coffee. Hope you all have a great day,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning everyone 🌞
Maryz, I'm so sorry about Autumn's finger, yucky. Wow your plans really changed huh. I hope everyone did their homework! I vote for table toppers for next year! It would be cool to do a Valentine, St Patrick's Day, 4th of July etc theme.....not all but just pick 1 for next year, they have some simple ones out there I'm thinking. I'm glad they're able to get Bills rescheduled for his appointments. Yay another week with the A's!!❤️❤️❤️
I've tried doing little bits at the quilting machine, just loading a quilt about cripples me even breaking it up into 3 days.... I'm trying to figure some other way out. I'm so tired of this beyond inconvenience 😤
Flo, I have a very old Fiat, it's 1 of 3 I believe the story goes that were in the US at the time, I'm sure there's more of that year by now. Frankie is supposed to restore it for me 1 day, all of us kids drove it when we were around 10 to 15 on dirt roads around our house.
Judi, staying in while it's raining and cold sounds like a good plan to me. I hope you pass your monitor test with flying colors so you don't need anything done 🙏
We need to get chicken food today and Frankie needs a couple other items from Tractor Supply so after that I'll be trying to figure what else my day will hold.
I hope you all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need 🙏

Good morning!

There's this funny white stuff, out on my deck. Oh it's snow. If you gathered it up, it might be a very tiny pile, about a inch square! Much like spilling a quarter cup of sugar all over the kitchen floor.

Need to feed the grumpy bear and then I'm spending the rest of my day in the Batt Cave. Yoohoodi can do his chore upstairs. One last thing of Christmas I know of, my front door wreath. It's quite red, lots of poinsettias, so I'm good with leaving it there for a day or two more. Need bright colors outside!

I'm just the gramma around here. When my kids were little, Sarah tagged my mom as Dommy. When Stu was little., my SIL, the one that just died, Stu called her Aunt Bimmy. Her name wasxKimmy and he couldn't say it. My mil was a stuffed shirt and very persnickity and it was Grandmother.

Maryz - a eventful day! But glad that all the appointments could be changed in a reasonable time frame. Ouch, poor Autumn. Hope it heals quickly.

Well, Mr G has lost today, his glasses. If it's not one thing, it's another. He takes them off and promptly forgets where he did. He's always misplacing them, that darn meter, or his cane. And that's the short list. We have a box of air tags to attach to things, but he put that box somewhere that I don't know! He will not tear the bed apart looking for them! Getting to a point down the road, I'll need a air tag on him!

Well, y'all have a great day,

Hugs,
Jana

46°, sunny and going up to 60°, but that's going to change big time, tonight will be 27°.

MaryZ, I'm sorry I had to cancel helping you today, I was looking forward to seeing how your students did. As for Autumn, OUCH, that has to really hurt. Ma nature has given you an extra week with the kids. I'm glad it's happening while you are here and not stuck in Houston with nothing to do. Please post pictures of your quilts hanging at the library.

Flo, Congratulations on the new to you car.

Judi, Hope your heart behaves. I have a yo-yo flag that I need to sew together, but it's in the MH.

Tina, Can the kids help you load the LA?

Jana, Garry sets his cane aka stick down and then I have to locate it. As for glasses and hearing aids, he'll come out of the bedroom dressed but leaves his glasses and hearing aids on the night stand. I tell him he needs to put them on and as he turns back to the bedroom usually says, "Bitching at me already."

Garry seems a little better, though he's coughed so much, his chest hurts. It takes him a while to get over a cold. I'm taking Cold Calm and so far I'm still OK.

Had a little hick up on painting yesterday. Thursday Miguel had painted the front and back walls, that are wainscoting, blue, but not the side walls wainscoting. I questioned him and he said he was going to use different paint. Why would he use a different paint type, if the blue was OK for the wainscoting on the ends why wouldn't it be OK for the wainscoting on the side walls. I had to run to Kingsland on a quick errand and when I got back, he had painted the sides the white color which is the trim around windows, etc. So we had another conversation and I showed him the quote he had given me, that said ALL wainscoting will be blue. He was upset with himself and will correct it on Monday.

I'm going to make a quick run to Walmart and HEB in Marble Falls. I was going to change the sheets and realized I only have one set for our bed. I also want to stock up on groceries for the week and the HEB in Marble Falls is bigger and better selections. Then I'm gonna play with fabric. I will try and get the borders cut for the coverlet for the MH.

Have a good day and stay warm.

Good morning Girls

I'm so glad Maryz put the DAY in the topic line... It feels like Friday to me!

Maryz... Oh my gosh... that's a lot of "good news.... bad news"! Good news you get to stay in Austin, bad news everything else!! Sorry to hear Autumn really did a job on her finger!! Was it just the tip? Not a place stitches will work. Good thing she had a nurse there to help out! It sounds funny to a born/bred Minnesotan that they would close offices because of cold!! But then I'm guessing Texas buildings are quite as insulated as Minnesota buildings are. I don't remember ever a time of closing offices because of cold, maybe huge amounts of snow. And I only remember the Post office taking drivers off the road, and that was 1975! (We had a huge storm the end of January and a huge rise in births the end of October/early November--Shawn was one of those) Oh I do remember Georgia Peach!! She was such a sweet lady. I had lunch with her Mom in Arizona when Jen was teaching there! I have a book called One Block Wonders. might be an option for quilt class. they all finish as about 45" square.. tho that maybe too big for your classes.

Flo.... Love the name for your new Car!!! Viv has a little Fiat too, stinkin' cute. Hers is a stick shift and I think it would be so fun to drive.

Judi.... No funky email from Lois at my house! Though I have gotten those scam emails... once from a friend I haven't seen or talked to since about 1990! I usually just delete. But it's not a bad idea to change passwords often, I try to keep a little book handy to write down the news as you know how fun it is to try to remember them, especially when we have to change them often. Did you say you finished your Carrie Nation? Man oh man has this one given me fits. Can't tell you how much I've had to rip and re sew!!

Tina... Love your Valentine placemats.. They turned out so cute! How fun would that be to have them for every holiday. I'm just waiting for it to be spring here so I can put out the pretty ones you made for me for Secret Santa.

Jana... Maybe Mr. G needs a lanyard to put his glasses on to wear around his neck. I may have to do that for my phone as I'm always forgetting where I put that!!!

Lyn... Yup, it sure doesn't make sense why he would use a different type paint, unless he meant he was going to use the White as a "different paint" How's the she-shed coming? Have you decided on what color to paint that?

Yesterday I totally cleaned my house!! It's so clean now I wouldn't be totally embarrassed if somebody showed up unannounced--well except for the kitchen which needs some work! I scrubbed and dusted every nook and cranny and vacuumed! It looks so pretty!! So as soon as I tackle the kitchen (clean up the pan of burned soup I had to soak) I'm headed to the sewing room so I can finish up the re-sew on a few Carrie Nation blocks! This one might even be one I can finish myself without having to ask Viv to quilt it! We shall see!

Wishing you all the very best today!!

Good morning. Happy Saturday. It's going to be a great day today.

Yesterday I got some shopping done and got a haircut. Today will be spent at home and after a little cleaning I will go play in my room.

Remember when our kids were little and the noise making toy was a cell phone? Well now it's a tv remote. I did find a fun little light weight toy that looks like a transistor radio, and you can push a button, record a message, and play it back. It also lights up and plays music and such. It's going to be for Valentine's day.

Valerie, I'm glad you have Sunday as Valerie day. My son calls Sunday Sonday. Funny story about what Elliott will call me. He has a GG, a Gram Gram, and a Nana. My son told me I will be Just Grandma. I love that. When Elliott get older and has friends around he can say, That's Just Grandma. or he can roll his eyes and say That's Just Grandma. If you're thinking of moving this area is screaming for home health care givers. Hoping your sleeping settles now that you aren't waiting for the phon to ring during the night.

Judi, Yay for not having Afib. I will also be changing my passwords. Odd that we all got a Lois email but she doesn't have our email addresses. Other than here I wonder where else we are all frequenting? To see your passwords go to the three little dots on the top right of your computer, click on settings, scroll down till you see passwords. You will see options to change passwords or delete sites containing your passwords. And you can also see what passwords you have out there.

Lyn, Glad Garry is feeling a bit better. I wonder, if you didn't tell him to go put his glasses on, if he'd notice he couldn't see well? Men can be stubborn, it's one of the many reasons I don't want another one.

Maryz, this is it, the last class until next year. Hope your students loved it. I also know you'll find the perfect larger block for a table topper. Quilters Cache has nice sized blocks that might work. Yay for another week. God bless Mother Nature.

Jana, hope today the alarm cooperates. Sounds like it is quite sensative. Wish you could set it on vibrate so it wouldn't go off with a jolt. You might think about an apple I tag (or something like that) so you can track it if it gets lost. Or maybehe needs a lanyard with many hooks.

Flo, Ok, it's been mentioned here a couple of times so I stopped everything and went for a look. Love the denim purse. the lace around it is a cute touch.

Lois, thanks for letting us know about the email. I think tht this weekend I will change my passwords. Seems almost everyone knows my kids names so I need to be a little more creative.

Maryq, see what I wrote to Judi about passwords. Tina also made me some placemats for Secret Santa. I have to say I never thought I would use placemats but these have been used daily and washed a few times. I love them.

What is it with birds. Since I've gotten my car one bird flew in to my windshield and bounced up and over my car, no damage. Another flew under my tire as I was driving and in my rearview mirror I saw feathers and now these stinkin' woodpeckers are cling to the screens in my new windows and trying to peck the frames. They have made holes in the screens. They also seem to fly into my windows. I do like birds. I just wish they would pick on someone else for a while.

Tomorrow is the Mexican bingo brunch. The game is called Loteria.

Last nights dinner was finally spaghetti using spaghetti squash. Tonight I will have something with hamburger, bacon and cabbage, maybe some bell peppers, onion and mushrooms too all sauteed in butter because life should be sauteed in butter.

You all have a fabulous day, I need to get mine started.

MaryQ, If you mean the outside of the cabin, it was painted blue with white trim at the factory.
I think the weather concerns for Texas is if there's freezing rain and just nasty cold that they don't know how to deal with. I would think the buildings are well insulated because of the hot summer weather. I just looked at Houston weather and on the 21st there's a 96% chance of moisture and a high of 32°. CindyG or Sue may be making a snow man.

It took me less than 5 minutes to find the glasses. Pulled up the bedding, made the bed, walked out to the kitchen, then to the front of the house and looked on the counter in the guest bathroom , yup there they were. Mr G swears he hasn't been in that bathroom for two or three days.. I knew better, but am learning, slowly, not to argue. Which is hard when I know I'm right.. now to put the house back together, he made a mess!
