Good morning,
Yesterday we cleaned the house and put tables back where they belong but all is good.
Today we are going out to brunch it's 23β° out but thats ok.
When we get back I want to press the remaining strips then sew them together.
I would like to learn how to do plantograms on my machine I have a lazor so I will have to do some digging I have been looking online but I don't see anything so maybe I will have to ask the group on facebook .
Lastnights dinner was chicken soup I don't know what will be for dinner tonight.
Well I hope you all have a great day stay warm.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Re: Thursday January 9th 2025
Good morning,
I am happy and relieved to report that my nephew Charlie came through his kidney transplant and is doing well. He will be in the hospital for another 5-6 days. He has been on the list for so many years. Thank you for your prayers and the prayers for the donor family. It's a happy day for our family but we know his/her family's hearts are breaking.
Praying for all those affected by the L.A. fires. As of yesterday afternoon, Lori and Carol were both well out of the fire's path. I know Valerie is up in the Bay Area and Chriss is over near Yosemite.
JANA - I hope they have some answers soon about what's wrong with Ethan. You mean they don't make OTC cough syrup anymore? I know you can get it with an Rx because I have it and it's a new prescription I filled in Nov - Promethezine. And boy, does it work!
CHRISS - your photo is lovely! We had a similar sunrise here last week a few days before this cold snap hit. You know the old saying, though, about red - Red at night, sailors delight but red in the morning - sailors take warning! Sounds like you are having too much fun in that sewing room! Too bad you didn't have twins - double the fun!
JUDI - sometimes I have to hit submit 2 or even 3 times before my post posts. You got a lot done yesterday. Good feeling to know your freezer is full. We buy most of our meats at Costco, too. It will be a big expensive trip when we get home and restock pantry and freezer. I prefer V-necks, but not low ones. High necks and crew necks make me feel choked. I am my mother's daughter.
MARY Q - no, I'm not ready for Week #2 of my class, but then I don't feel ready yet for week #1! lol! But it must have gone OK. I got the nicest note from Mary Jo, Autumn's soon to retire boss. She wasn't at the class but apparently heard stories. I read your post yesterday talking about how your brother does well with different threads. I thought, Gosh! she never mentioned that her brother sews! But I reread this morning and realized you must have a Brother sewing machine!
LYN - Sounds like Garry's appt day wasn't a good day for visiting even if we were handy. I'd want to go home to my recliner, too. We are hoping to be able to get up your way next Thursday, Jan 16th if you aren't otherwise occupied. Just for a short visit as our boys will be staying home alone. Our plan is to go to Flat Creek Estates Winery near Marble Falls for tasting and lunch. We were given a gift certificate and we need to go spend it. I will be in touch with you in a few days. Thursday is our only non-babysitting day when the winery is open. Glad to hear Minnie is improving. Your cardinals sound lovely. Chickie has cardinals like that at her feeders now and then, too, and occasionally sends me photos.
TINA - we want photos of your placemats! I only have one Valentine quilt - a swap we did a few years ago - and one table topper. I have the Exploding Heart quilt pattern but just haven't gotten around to it yet. Another thing I should put on my 2025 list I guess. But I also want to make my brother, Gene's 4 surviving kids each a quilt, my nephew Charlie who just had the kidney transplant last night, and possibly a wedding quilt, not to mention that wild NY Beauty. I may have to punt some of my list to 2026! Do you still have snow or is it gone now? I feel for all the folks who got their cars wrecked, especially those who were just traveling through.
LOIS - how did your "day off" go? Are you ready to get back to that quilt yet? How big is it? What's the max size you can do on your quilting machine? Do you have a surface that you can lay the pantogram on? If so, you might want to secure it in place with a bit of tape. If it's a metal surface, just a few magnets off your fridge will work. When I use pantos and the laser, I stand behind the machine rather than in front. Not sure how your set up would work. Another idea that might work well for you is Golden Threads Quilting Paper. You can Google it using just those words.
Babysitting for Amara is a joy. So yesterday was very joyful! She helped us fold two loads of laundry and it only took us twice as long! lol! We're going in a little later tomorrow because we will be staying later. It's Autumn's birthday and Antonio has a date planned so we will be watching her later in the day and into the evening. I grab minutes here and there for working on my little blocks. Today will be a sewing day. "Only" 92 left to make. I MAY get half of them done. I'm hoping to get them all finished before I have to pack up my sewing. Guess I should add assembling this quilt and the others I've made while down here to my 2025 list. And here I was wondering what I was going to do next. haha!! It's good to have choices.
I'm still trying to decide on supper tonite. I think we'll grill Yankee Dip sandwiches tonite and do waffle fries in our airfryer, but don't hold me to that! We've already changed our minds 3 times this morning!
Make your day a good one!

She knows her colors her numbers the entire alphabet and can read some words in her books. Both her gramma ( DDIL Val) and her mom work with her a lot. It should be a fun visit,
Yesterday, After my trip to Costco. I got all thr meat packed away in the freezer. and made a pot of stew for supper (Not my favorite but Ken loves it) We decided to go to Liams Hockey game and they won again (Only lost one this year) It was fun.
Tonight we are meeting FLroida friends for supper at a local resturant and that will be fun...we will see them in Florida too...we are planning a dinner party with my cousins, my sister and hubby, and friends when we are in florida. We will have it at the Airbnb we are staying at,,,with a pool a hot tub and a firepit...it will be what we call luxery camp out. We need to decide on a menu and drink needs...we will buy all the food when we get there and decide on a date..

Re: Thursday January 9th 2025
Good morning, missed yesterday. Went down to Santa Cruz and spendt the day with my daughter. She cares for a gentleman down there. She usually goes home to Nevada on her days off but this time her husband came here. She had an extra day after he went back home so we spent the day together. We did go to a quilt shop (can't rememvber the name). Didn't find much but fabric to make DSIL a couple of pillows. I am trying to get her interested in sewing/quilting. She doesn't focus well so this has been challenging. She has a decent machine that at this point has had very little use. But I can just keep trying.
I am to get a phone call today about delivery of my new machine. Hoping tomorrow is delivery day. I am supposed to go to Slow Stitch tonight. We will see, then tomorrow night is Friday Fun night. Sewing from 5:30 pm to 11:30 pm. There will also be dinner. Not sure what I bring yet to work on. Maybe the owl quilt.
We are working on planning a cross country trip in September. DH can only get 3 weeks off so not sure we will make a lot of stops. Will go to my sisters in Virginia, my nephews in Minn3sota and son's in South Dakota. Beyond that, no real plans. I am trying to figure out one surprise visit but it may not happen. I can't seem to get timing that works.
Boy Maryz time has sure flown by. While it is always nice to get home, leaving "Kumquat" behind must be difficult. What was your final dinner plan?
I am not sure where Lori lives in relation to the fire. Yes, Chriss and I are safe. Well it is big day at work, morning meeting and 3 patients to see so I need to get. Have a great day all.

Good morning!
Cold, but that's normal, it's January!
Oh, Santa Cruz - once in awhile, we'd cut school and drive down to Santa Cruz. Love the beach there!
Not much here. I might need a milk run down to Costco today. I need to check on how much I have. Need eggs too. Sarah's chickens don't lay as much in the cold, so I'll buy some. Can't get into too much trouble at Costco, it's January and this is a slow time, and no decorations, yet. Costco doesn't do many Valentine decor, but spring is coming! The house looks bare, now Christmas is put away, but I'm good with that.
I have the fire fabric for Daniel's pillow he wants. He has some special fire patches he wants to display along with his helmet. He asked me for a pillow, so I'll get that made. His helmet shows all the battle scars from the many fires he was on. Definitely well used!
Time to scoot, do something fun!
Hugs,
Jana

Re: Thursday January 9th 2025
Good Morning Girls
I would have been here earlier, but I got distracted watching news coverage of the fires in CA. What a disaster and my heart sure goes out to those folks! I have a cousin Oceanside and Temecula which is south of LA. I send lots of prayers for them and all the folks that have lost home and for the firefighters and responders!
Lois.... Your Gracie has a lazer? COOL!! That's how Viv does all my quilts... with the pantograph. I've even done it a little bit when she was teaching me how to use her machine. There are a bazillion different pantos you can get for a LA, but I'm sure there are many for a gracie frame too! Viv has designs of flowers and swirls and Christmas Trees and fall leaves! A person can go crazy with those!!
Maryz... No OTC cough syrup? I'll have to look next time I go to Walgreens. I was able to get Nyquil just fine. I think there is something to the cough syrup that some folks like to use to get high, though I can't imagine what it is. Promethazine has always been and Rx med if I remember correctly, but you know how memory often fades as we get older!
Judi... What fun to plan a trip to FL!! Will you be staying close to the beach? That would be an ideal vacation for me, to sit on a comfy chair on the beach with a margarita and a good book!! Congratulations to Ken on the 35lb, but I suppose like most men, he's not a fan of clothes shopping so that will be your job. I don't think my DEX ever bought his own clothes while we were married!
Valerie... Where in Minnesota are your nephews? What town? Maybe if they are not too far away I can meet you!! Wouldn't that be fun!!!
Jana.... I bet Daniel has an opinion about the fires in LA. I've been watching the news about how there aren't enough fire fighters, equipment and even water!
Chriss.. Oh my gosh, that picture of your sunrise view is amazing!! That's an award winning photo if you ask me! How cool would that be blown up and framed!!!
Oh dear, between typing here I've been flipping back and forth between screens watching news on the fire. So devasting, just heart breaking to see the number of folks that have lost their homes. But I better push myself away from computer and get to work here. My little workshop looks like it's blown up and I need to tame the disaster here today.
So I'm off for a a shower and more coffee!
Prayers for Calif

Re: Thursday January 9th 2025
Val, sounds like a nice day with your daughter.
Maryz, glad you nephew made it though. Hope he recovers quickly and his body accepts the new kidney.
Judi, you and Ken have lost a lot of weight lately. Sounds like it's time for a new wardrobe.
Lois, there are a lot of Youtube videos on using pantographs. I've watched a few. They seem pretty straight forward. I'm sure trying to control the stitches is not as easy as they make it look.
We are about 45 mile from the closest fire. They are all north of us, and we haven't had smoke come our way yet. They winds were quite crazy for a couple of days and made a big mess, but that's all cleaned up now. Another fire started last night. I feel bad for all the people having to deal with the fires. We haven't had any rain since last spring. All the rain is staying up north.
I gotta run. Have things to do this morning. First up is walk the boy. They are ready and waiting.
Have a lovely day.

Oh. Yes, Daniel has very definite opinions, not on the actual firefighter, but the idiots at the top, that tie the firefighter hands. Cal-fire and the Feds don't play well in the sandbox together! Daniel tangled many times and took his team to fight the fire, the way he had been trained. He's one that get things done.

Re: Thursday January 9th 2025
Good morning everyone

Woke up and it was snowing again, not hard like yesterday though.
There was a 21 semi pile up wreck yesterday, they had one way of I-10 closed for hours, they detour to the road that runs in front of Dad's house, he said the traffic noise got to him and kept him up for hours. This morning a motorhome and semi wrecked. I can see cars that aren't used to driving in snow but I don't understand how the semi's are wrecking so much, they're used to traveling all over in all kinds of weather or at least I thought so......of course when I'm out on the highway it's the semi driver's swirving all over the roads because they're on cell phones, reading a book or watching a movie while driving
Lois, I saw your quilt on Facebook, it's gorgeous! Did you quilt that one? I hope you find out good news about pantographs for you.
Maryz, so glad to hear your nephew came through the surgery good, prayers for a full recovery and his body accepting the kidney. Goodness you have quite the list for 2025 but you'll be done with it before the halfway point of the year I bet. I'll post pics as soon as I get my placemats done, I think they're turning out cute, I still need to add a couple hearts to each one and quilt them.
Judi, enjoy your visit with your granddaughter and Navy, she sounds like she could be Elijah's twin LOL
Valerie, you sound a tad excited for your new machine that you weren't sure if you wanted
I hope they get it delivered ASAP you'll have so much fun with it! If you take I-10 on your trip maybe you could stop here for a break and we could squeeze in a little visit
Jana, I've noticed not many places really have very much Valentine's decorations, I think it's a short changed holiday
Maryq, the news last night was showing those fires in California, it's horrible. New Mexico is sending bunches of firefighters to help them, prayers for them all
. I think we have pretty much the same ideal vacation thought

Lori, I hope that 45 miles is far enough
gosh you've been about as bad as us with no moisture, thankfully we got this snow, it's sticking around and will be a slow soak in.
I'm just staying in and sewing some, might watch a movie sometime today too. It's Dad's night for supper but really hoping he'll agree to stay home, we just took him groceries so I know he has food.
Frankie has a target order of coffee coming today so he's shoveling off the sidewalk and steps. They had his coffee on sale plus if we bought so much it was more off plus the 5% off so I got him extra this time. He was happy to hear that.
You all have a great day! Prayers for all in need
and for California and the firefighters and first responders and all the people traveling through this bad weather
Tina

Jana, I've noticed not many places really have very much Valentine's decorations, I think it's a short changed holiday
Maryq, the news last night was showing those fires in California, it's horrible. New Mexico is sending bunches of firefighters to help them, prayers for them all
Lori, I hope that 45 miles is far enough
I'm just staying in and sewing some, might watch a movie sometime today too. It's Dad's night for supper but really hoping he'll agree to stay home, we just took him groceries so I know he has food.
Frankie has a target order of coffee coming today so he's shoveling off the sidewalk and steps. They had his coffee on sale plus if we bought so much it was more off plus the 5% off so I got him extra this time. He was happy to hear that.
You all have a great day! Prayers for all in need
Tina
