Good morning,
Brrrr!!! Who turned off the heat?! We are in the upper 20's here, depending on which thermometer you read. And a "feels like temp" of 11*. But supposed to warm to 47* by this afternoon. This weather, and a little colder, will be with us all week.

LORI - I saw your comment on my Sisters quilt over in Photos. I'm glad you've be able to see that scene in real life. Not sure if you noticed, but my quilt is backward. When I made it I was new to applique and didn't realize I needed to reverse the entire thing! And, nope, I don't know if the library will continue quilting classes other than it was mentioned that they might want me to teach a class again next year. There is a quilting group that meets there every month but I don't think anyone in that group is interested in teaching. But the library wanted the machines and sewing supplies for check-out.

LYN - no you didn't miss any posts. I didn't put out a call requesting fabric but a few folks texted me and offered and I accepted it. You had your hands full around that time, I think, traveling, moving, caring for your DD. We use the Wayz app for traffic. Plus our GPS will tell us of a traffic jam ahead and give us an alternate route if possible. We set it to towing, with a height restriction so it, hopefully, won't take us on a route we can't navigate.

CHRISS - I keep a heavy plastic vitamin bottle with a pop up lid handy for broken needles, bent pins, etc. and I put used rotary blades back into the case they came in. I mark my cases new or old. When the case is full or the botte, I wrap them securely in duct tape and then toss it into the trash.

JANA - that sounds like an interesting show on Alaska that you watched. And you bet - Gene has traveled the Dalton Hwy a lot over the last 50+ years. He has hauled freight and fuel on every road in Alaska and into the western half of Canada. He is licensed and permitted to haul anything anywhere. Thanks for thinking of him! I have a few very special ornaments, too, that are always carefully wrapped and boxed. The last time I had them out, I included notes with them giving their history.

VALERIE - WOW!!! What a surprise! And so well deserved! I bet you can't wait to completely retire now so you can start playing with your new toys! I'm excited for you! And the side benefit is filling up that room so no more unwanted company can come back! If you have an extra bed in there, sell it and buy an inflatable mattress instead. Your NY Beauty pattern - is it paper pieced or regular pieced? The one I have is all paper pieced. Good thing I'm a fan of PP'ing though I may not be by the time I finish this project! This will take me all year, maybe two! I can understand better now charging a lot for a class if they have to pay a teacher and it's not just shop staff working during shop hours. I put a lot of time, effort, and fabric into preparing for and then teaching my class, though I was strictly volunteer.

FLO - oh no! Didn't you just have a downed tree? Or was that over at your DS's house? Glad you were able to do a quick repair.

JUDI - congrats on your big win! Seattle and Denver both won their games, too. (Denver is our 'secondry' team). It was a good football day and I stayed awake for almost all of it! So nice that you have your godmother's vase. I also have a special vase of my mom's that I always loved when growing up. I wish I knew where she got it. Was it my gramma's? Did you get into your sewing room at all this past weekend? You don't have long now until you leave on vacation. Have you started pulling summer clothes yet?

MARY Q - where did you go yesterday?? Down a squirrel hole??

LOIS - I know where you were!

TINA - how is your foot doing? Did you sew yesterday? What are you working on?

BECCA - are you warming up at all or is this big storm crossing the country going to hit you, too?

Yesterday was house cleaning day. Then I worked on my S.S. blocks (got about 50 made, I think). We decided we can't wait any longer for the other insurance agent from our accident to contact us so we opened a claim with our own insurance. We didn't want to go this way but I guess we have to. Our insurance, AAA, the police, the WA Ins Commisioner, and the TX Ins Commissioner all said it's best to go through other guy's insurance if we can, though the choice is ours. If we file too many claims on our own insurance it could raise our rates, so we hesitated to do that. And even though we're not at fault, it still counts as a claim. We will wait and get repairs done at home but we don't trust our fifth-wheel hitch so we want that replaced before we try to tow our fiver almost 3,000 miles.

Today is a play day! We're going back to spend the day with our little Ms Boots. And we have supper in the freezer - a Costco Mac & cheese. Using the oven will help warm the trailer, so supper will be doing double duty. I think Wed I'll make a big pot of chili. We'll have that for a night, maybe two, and freeze the rest for easy travel meals. If we get our new hitch in time, we leave here Jan 19 for 4 days in Houston before starting for home.

Have a super duper day!

Good morning i didnt stay up for the big win so I had to see it this morning, I also watched the jersey being put on a big statue downtown Detroit, the staue is called the spirit of Detroit ( in front of the city county building) if one of our teams makes a big showing a company ( one of my cousin's company) makes a giant jersey and this morning a honolulu blue and white number 1 was placed on the statue. it was a site to see this town is very excited,,,
I did get all the tax papers sorted and a lot shredded. While looking for some binder clips (I know I had a bunch) I found a baggy full of embroidery floss...(I rememeber going to joanns with a list when the floss was on sale..) I guess i never made the project ( yes that happens a lot) so I wound the floss on floss bobbins and stowed it with my other floss...and that was what I did in the afternoon.
Today I will cclear the rest of the papers for this year and maybe just maybe I will sew a bit.. maybe,
You all remmeber my grand duaghters liver problems and I asked you to pray for her after your prayers her liver issues disappeared...she had a one yr check up and she is still free of liver issues and the Dr said she cannot even feel her spleen that was enlarged...so agian I thank you for your prayers she is doing so amazing,,,going to be 15 this year...oh my goodness,,,where does time go.....
Have a wonderful day XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo

Morning
Valerie, it's possible for a well to go dry, but more likely that the pump failed. Pumps last at least 20 yrs and we just had ours replaced 4 yrs ago.
Bitter cold today....the high will be 11 degrees...not leaving house.
Had to replace a Zipper for a friend yesterday and it went in on first shot...yay me.

Good morning, well didn't get all the borders on my Radiant quilt but almost there. I have the last border of number 2 border and then border 3. I think for number 3 I have enough length to not have to piece them. There is lots of visiting/socializing that goes on and while I try to just focus, it can be difficult.

Maryz I am doing Summer on the Delta by Material Girlfriends. I am doing the 92" by 92". It is mostly paper pieced, the circles are appliqued. She has a youtube video that I have watched several times and made one quadrant of the pillow and yep, it's all backwards too! I mayb also sign up for a class at another quilt shop (where my new machine is coming from) that is Mariner's Compass and Log cabin type blocks.

Judi such good news about your granddaughter. Yes, prayer does help. Do you cross stitch? My Las Vegas BIL gave me a container of my sisters floss. I may go back to it one day. We will see.

Flo thanks for the info. I have never had a well that I know of. Yes, that is bitter cold. We are at 48 but should get to 56.

Chriss did you find the binding fabric?

Lori how is Dad?

If I may ask for prayers for my friend at the quilt shop. Her mother had a pretty massive stroke about a week ago and is in an active state of dying. I have not had an update in close to 24 hours so not sure if still with us or not. She will need some comfort in the coming months.

Off for some breakfast and a few chores before I head out to pay for this massive machine DH wants. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning!

Awaiting a snow storm that will start according to the they, just about the time I leave to take Mr G to PT. Glad PT is just a short distance from home.

Not much here. I will be felling a Christmas tree today. My big tree in the family room still needs a ladder to reach the top, so instead, I'll tip it over, gently, I hope and disassemble it. The big box, I do mean BIG, that this tree is stored in. Is in the Batt Cave, so we'll haul the four sections down one at a time., and pack it away. I stay awake at night dreaming up these schemes! This box is big enough for 2 bodies!

All my grands are back in school from Christmas break today. Andrew left back down for college too.

Valerie - oh the fun you'll have with your new machine! Take all the classes you can on how to operate it and the ins and outs of hooping your embroidery work. Then stay away from the Kimberbell site, it's very addictive! They have so many fun things to make with your machine!

Well, I'm off to start my day,

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning. It's going to be a great day today. The sun will come up as I type this and I will soon see a bright pink strip over the mountain outside my window. But right now I see bare oak trees and a not dark but not bright sky. The bare trees remind me of a spooky Halloween landscape.

I figured out how to make that block for my first kiss quilt yesterday. I'm confident that if I pay attention I can do it. I took pictures with my phone and used a clip to tell me which side to sew on. sewing QST's together always befuddle me. I turn the pieces often until I get them into the right spot, a clip is a perfect way to put them together.

The parents arrived yesterday afternoon. Dad wanted to put better lighting in my sewing room. And now things are shuffled around in there, I can work but not easily. While the ladder is in there I will take down my hall light and replace the burned out bulb and clean the fixture. I'm slowly trading my regular bulbs for LED's.

I had bought an 8 pound ham, it was the smallest I could find. it was marked down after Christmas for 99cents a pound. It was a cure 81 spiral ham. I'll never buy a spiral ham again. The parents took half home. Spiral hams dry out quickly.

Tonight is my church meeting and my only job is to make those deviled eggs, it will go quickly. Then I can get on the binding for that panel quilt and start my kiss quilt.

Lyn, nice to have an alternate route. What did we do before GPS? When I got my car I used google maps to see how it would take me home, it only wanted to take me back to the freeway and so I used the map on my phone, I couldn't figure out how to turn off Google maps so I had two people telling me how to get there and they both had different ways. Hope you got your lazy day.

Lori, I never started with binding fabric I found this panel in my pile of fabric and decided to put it together and then started looking for binding. But I did find something that will work. Are you still workng at your dad's house?

Maryz, happy play day. There is supposed to be mac N cheese at the pot luck I am going to, you and I can have the same meal separatly. Thanks for the treat in the mail. Hoping the hitch comes off and goes on without a hitch. Our library also has sewing machines that can be checked out. And now they are considering having gardening tools. I wonder who thought of checking out these kinds of things.

Judi, yay for Sophia. And how is your DIL? hoping she is improving too.

Flo, High five on gettinng that zipper licked in the first try.

Valerie, prayers for your friend. Yes, I found binding fabric, thanks. Would you like to come borrow my dolly to haul that machine? You are going to have so much fun with that new toy. I agree with MZ, get rid of the bed in dad's room and revamp it into your new sewing room. Paint it a bright cheery color and get a new chair.

Jana, hoping the storm is late and doesn't happen until after you come home from PT. And hoping your plan to take down the tree works, always good to know how many bodies can fit in a container.

The man comes to get my trash this morning and everything is ready for him. He comes about every month and a half and it costs $20 to take my garbage. Even when I was really cleaning and had tons of stuff, he only charged me $20. I also have a tree down and will ask him if he wants the wood.

I need some breakfast, and I need to make a grocery list. you all have a fun day,
Chriss

Good Morning Girls

Sorry I missed you all yesterday! I did start a note, then clicked the wrong button and lost the whole thing, and then of course some squirrel came running past me so had to go chase it! Needed to tidy up as the gal that I made the pencil cases for was coming to pick them up---and even tho my house looks like a workshop, I didn't want it to look like a dirty work shop!

Maryz. I think the whole country is under some weird weather pattern! We have NO snow on the ground up here, but have you seen the snow storm that hit the Kansas City, MO area? BFF lives just outside of KC!!! I'm not sure they have the equipment like we do up here to clean up that mess. And Washington, DC is getting blasted too! Did you never get any place with the other guys insurance? That's just crazy!!! I've had AAA for years and they've always been spot on with claims!! I'm guessing if you go through your insurance, tho not preferred, they might go to AAA for reimbursement! Hopefully!!!

Judi.... Has it really been a year since we learned of Sophie's liver issue? Oh my gosh! But isn't it just amazing what prayer can accomplish! I've seen it so many times in our group alone! Little miracles every where. I've been knitting baby hats in the evening for quite a while now.. I might have to change it up and go back to embroidery for a while. A long time ago I bought a fabric panel for a quilt that I started embroidering on! Maybe I'll haul that out one of these days!

Flo... Good for you, getting that zipper done! I do zippers all the time, but replacing one in an existing garment has its own challenges! I did one for my son, but forgot to get a Reversible zipper, so now he can only wear his vest one direction!!

Valerie... Congratulations on your beautiful new machine!! I had to google it! It's amazing!!! I will warn you tho, once you get the hang of the embroidery part you will go broke buying designs.  Most designs are relatively inexpensive, but they can sure add up! How big of hoop do you have? I sometimes wish I would have gotten one with a bigger hoop, mine is only 4 x 4, so I'm limited somewhat. but it sure has been a lot of fun.

Jana.... Be careful getting that tree down? Might you want to wait for Stu or Ethan to come help??

Chriss.... A sewing room needs lots of good light! When I first moved in, I had Shawn help me put up one of those really neat bright LED lights... kind of like I have out in the garage too! I'm just so happy for you that you have Dad there to help you with all your projects! Even ones YOU didn't plan on doing !

Ok, my coffee is cold now and it's time for a refill then to get butt in gear. Looking around my little office area, I'm thinking this might be a place I need to tackle soon. It gets kind of ignored when I spend most of the day in the sewing room!! There's a couple places around here that need the "clean out and re-do" project, but I'm just waiting for the mood to really hit me. It's not hitting today!

wishing you all a great Monday

Good morning from what I'm thinking the Tundra would be like, but then, you know me, anything under 60 is frigid....But, we did get more snow over night and supposed to get more this afternoon....Our roads are OK, of course, my car is covered and I even have one of those things to put over the windshield and mirrors but it's in the shed..One of my "boyfriends" came by and shoveled the driveway but didn't touch the car...Guess he figures, if I have to do it, I'll stay home and he's right.....

Not sure just what today might bring....Really don't want to do a big clean up because tomorrow might be tearing up carpet day....Can't do any sewing because both machines are now in the other bedroom...In other words, my house is really a mess, lol....Was hoping the yarn for Lena's afghan would be here but not yet....

MaryZ your quilt class really sounded special and I'll bet you'll have some long time quilters in the bunch....I think when people see and hear what all goes into quilting, it's almost love at 1st sight and then you're addicted, lol......Another play day with Ms Boots, that's great...I'm getting very jealous............One of these weekends, Cari has promised she and Lena will come this way.....
Judi, Such good news about your grand daughter.....Amazing what prayers can do...Miracles do happen....
In cleaning out this room, I've found old taxes, bank statements etc. and was also afraid their burn up the shredder so found a place close by that will shred...What a relief! Of that's on the list when it gets warmer, lol....
Chriss, I too need to replace some of my light bulbs...What ever happened to the 3 way bulb or just normal bulbs that give you light???? Guess I should work on my grocery list, also......
Jana, hoping the storm stays away till you get back home....AND now, I have visions of you felling that tree, with you under it and just arms and legs hanging out.....Please be careful!
Flo, Good for you, Wow, 1st shot...I haven't put in a zipper (in anything) for years...Not sure I'd even remember how, lol....I guess I shouldn't complain, you with 11 degrees, yikes!
Becca, so glad to see you, stay warm....Let's just pretend, Spring is just around the corner.....
Well, best get moving.....what to do, what to do! When in doubt, mix up a batch of cinnamon rolls, right? That will warm up the house......

You all have a great rest of the day............Stay warm.......

Sunny, cold and breezy.

I found an article on the traffic jam, a pickup went off the road and landed on the railroad tracks below the highway, a woman died and to men went to hospital. Highway was closed for hours. I've said a couple extra thank you prayers that I was at that exit and got off.

MaryQ, Kansas City has the equipment for that weather. Problem though is that it started as a freezing drizzle then snow on top. Garry's Sis who lives on the west side of KC, texted yesterday that I-70 was closed from Hays to Missouri line. Amanda, in Hays, had snow drifts around her car, she posted a picture on FB. She can't be shoveling after surgery. A very nice friend saw her post and cleared her driveway so she could get to work today.

I brought my Bernina and Sew-Ezi table back to the house, I set it up just in case I have time to sew. Luckily I didn't bring too much, because I realized that when we go back to the coast, I have to take my plants this trip.

I'm not happy about this, my handyman called yesterday and backed out of finishing the cabin. He has a shoulder that's causing him problems. He gave me the name of a drywaller, so I will be making calls. Minnie got up at 4:30 and wanted out. Then as soon as I was up this morning, she wanted out again and a runny poop. Then I found she had thrown up by the back door during the night. So, I will be keeping a close eye on her.

Hope your day goes better than how mine has started.
Lyn
