Good morning,

Another day, another dollar. Oh wait - no dollars. Just hugs and messy kisses. :D 🥰 Priceless.

TINA - Smart to have a teen tracker! What was that mom thinking??? She's the one who should be grounded. But you're right- Jazmyne should have called her mom. Bet she will next time! Fun to have another beautiful ballet to look forward to! How is Jamie? Any memory returning yet? I don't think about it much be we are only 3 hours - 170 miles - from the border, too! But the northern border.

LORI - how is dad with the move from his house? Does he still remember/miss his home? Good news that he's making progress with his hip. We were late getting home yesterday and the park office was closed so we'll look for the box of fabric this morning. Thanks again!

CHRISS - how did house cleaning go yesterday? I used to clean occasionally for my parents, too, and then for my dad after mom died. They were grateful. Did you start that practice block for First Kiss yet? And you are right - there's no tucking Amara into a purse this year! She is 99th percentile for height - comes to my waist when she stands tall. I can still lift her but barely.

JANA - at home, I put out a few table runners and quilts for each season/holiday and change out the door wreath and maybe have a few items to set around but otherwise, I don't decorate for other seasons much. In fact, all my fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving decorations together only half fill one tote. Too much work! Happy birthday to your Daniel today! My nephew, Dale, is also celebrating his birthday today. I think he's either 60 or 61. I was 9 when I first became an aunt and I have 17 nieces and nephews.

MARY Q - If I were your niece I'd want that cancer surgery ASAP. Want to take no more chances than necessary. So all of your siblings have something going on with their kids. Going to be a big year for your family. That First Kiss quilt Chriss is doing for Elliott is a pretty sweet one for boy or girl . . . . And you could change out the colors to make them different. Is the MSQC herringbone quilt similar to QIAD's braid? And didn't Judi do a braid (or herringbone) this past year? Let's ask her which pattern she used.

JUDI - ?? Which pattern did you use? And what old car did Ken buy? Bill's brother restored an old 1950 Chevrolet. It was beautiful! His DD arrived at her outdoor wedding in that car, driven by her dad, of course.

LOIS - What pattern are you starting? If you said, I missed it. I have the same iron as Mary Q - Hamilton Beach Durathon and I like it other than not long after I got it I must have run over something sticky because I have a permanent spot about 1.5" sq on my iron. But it still works fine. I have a Black & Decker Classic (looks like Mom's old iron) in the laundry downstairs but it's heavy and the pointy end isn't so pointy - and sometimes I want that point in quilting/sewing. And Bill jut got me a new Black and Decker (not classic) for a 'back-up'. We've made many emergency runs to stores and on line looking for irons so he knows the disaster it is when your only iron quits. An auto shut-off is a must for me.

LYN - you are already coming back to Hill Country? That time at the coast went fast. I think Aut said they do have a system for hanging quilts. Not sure what it is. Other people are in charge. Quilts don't go up until Jan 11. Classes start at 10am first three Saturdays in January - 4th, 11th, and 18th. I suspect they will run until we reach a good stopping place each day. I still have no idea how many people will be there.

FLO - You said you have Star Trek movies. But wasn't that a series and Star Wars was the movies? I'm not much of a fan of either one. My genre of choice is along the lines of the Vacation movies with Chevy Chase. (though I can easily sit through a Diehard flick with Bruce Willis now and then. :D )How far is Kansas City from you? Our closest IKEA is about 50 miles - to Renton (Seattle area).

IRISH - glad you joined us! I (and your Baby Girl) hope you'll be staying home for a while now so we can 'see' more of you! What's the next big event on your calendar? How did you do at the craft show?

Yesterday was spent with Amara so you know we had fun. But parents had eye appts after work so we stayed later than usual and it was nearly 6pm when we got home yesterday. But still light enough to grill chicken. Today, both parents are working from home. Both have home offices so they will just shut their doors and we oldsters and youngsters can still play unsupervised!

I finished my 6" stars yesterday. So my BeWitched blocks are all done. This morning I'm going to repack my sewing closet to fit everything in and then I'll get out all the things I need for class tomorrow. I made a list and I'll check it twice. My last project I have with me is Star Silhouette - my WIP, started last summer and is composed of nearly 400 2" HSTs. Just to use up some of the forty gazillion 2-1/2" squares that devilish Mary Q sent me last year. I will get her for this. I'm leaving her my entire stash in my will!

Tonite's supper is going to be pesto pasta with chicken. And salad.

Have a Fab Friday, y'all!

Good morning - yesterday went to Finish it with Annette. Did get my quilt top done except for the borders. Also got one side of my binding on my Starry Night quilt. Slow but sure I am working through things. If I live to be 125 and don't buy anything else I may get through it all. Today I have some classes to do for work. 2 are due by the 6th so I best get to getting them done.

Tina not sure what the start of the Jazmyne story is but how much control does she have over how the boyfriend's mother drives? I am a bit confused.

Lori we have several squirrels that hang out in our backyard. They are so cut but are diggning up my strawberry patch!

Chriss my sewing room is a real disaster. I can sew or clean? Uhm? Not a difficult decision. Maybe tomorrow when DH is home from work he can help me. My back just gives out before I can get through it all. I think broccoli is good thing to recall! Luckily I don't eat it.

Jana that's a lot of decorating.

Maryq I am trying to get at least 30 min of quilting in most days this year. Little by little it gets done.

Maryz I hope they get the new block out too. I can call them about 8 am our time. They are 2 hours ahead and don't open till 10 or 11. I need to check.

Well my hip and lower back are not happy. Too much sitting yesterday so I need to get up and move around. First to charge my tablet so I can do at least one class.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Cloudy morning on the coast.

MaryZ, The MH will stay here at the coast. Garry has an appt with a Retina Dr next Tuesday, in Lakeway. The handyman said he could work on my cabin next week, getting the drywall and wainscoting up and hopefully painted. Hope you brought warm coats for next week, gonna get cold.

Chriss, I zeroed out Trip 1 on the MH when we left Texas last spring, and when we got back to the Texas house, we had traveled over 6,500 miles. As for the Jeep, probably 12,000 miles. Trips were 8,200+. If I wasn't drinking my coffee in my PJ's, I'd go look at the little book in the Jeep where we record gas fill ups and mileage.

Yesterday after the oil change, I did some shopping. I went to Michael's, looking for a bigger tote to better organize my flower beading supplies. Found one but decided I would see what other choices there were. Made a BIG mistake and stopped at HL. OMG there were people in lines that went back 2/3rd the depth of the store. All checkouts were open. I didn't find a tote and would not have stood in line. The Jo Ann's in Corpus is still better managed then what some of you describe. They had a similar tote, so I bought it, but also stopped back on my way home and bought the one at Michael's, too. I also stopped at Penney's and bought some bras. I don't know about y'all, but bra shopping is a real pain. Dinner was wild rice brats, bought in Canada, and a salad. The totes have a tray on top that I thought would be great, but not sure it will work. Don't know if I will take them back or keep them. Both were on sale at a good price.

Today I will prep to head up to the house. Dinner will be leftovers.

Hope you have a good day.
Lyn

Good morning Girls

A little late to the party this morning, but I had to catch up on the news---not much of it was good!

Maryz... Oh I'm sure Kenzie would love to have that surgery ASAP, but you know how it is getting anything scheduled with doctors these days. Since they determined that it was a "slow cancer" the dr originally said it could wait a YEAR!! NO way!! SO I put together the herringbone quilt only I completely goofed it up and it's not herringbone at all! Looks more like a those chevron crocheted blankets! I had enough 6.5" HST blocks to get two smaller quilts out of. The first one sucks, then I got the hang of it and did the second one correctly! I have El's braid pattern and once upon I tried it but my strips kept going wonky so it ended up in a UFO pile somewhere! Are you excited for your class tomorrow?

Lois.... So what's your next quilt?

Judi.... Love that gift idea!! We tried that one year with my siblings!! Kind of a white Elephant thing. My Mom had this really ugly lamp that we passed back and forth for a while. Not sure what ever happened to it! A special room in a remodel to store Christmas decor sounds like a perfect idea! Much better than having to store it in an attic in the garage!! Where it's stinkin' cold in November to haul it all down!!

Flo.. Just for grins I watched the very first Star Trek episode last night. SO badly acted! Started in 1966... Man I was 15 years old!! I just remember being tempted to ditch college classes to stay home and watch it in 1970! Can't say I've seen ALL the movies, but I might have to check them out too!

Val... You only sew for about 1/2 hour every day? I only clean and do chores for about a 1/2 hour every day!  The rest of the time I'm sewing!! And since I have ADD when it comes to sewing, if I get bored with the project in the sewing room, my featherweight is set up on my dining room table, so I'll go out there and speed stitch some "idiot squares" together.

Chriss... Yup, that sure sounds like the cake my friend brought me for my birthday a few years ago!! Yes, no worry on a broccoli recall for me. I only stop at WM if it's an absolute necessity! I have the baby girl quilt covered, it's "Boots and Blooms" fabric--some KC left behind. Not sure what I'm going to do for the baby boy. Since the theme for the baby boy is Mountains, I might look at MQS "Rocky Mountain Hight" Which would be really appropriate as they live in Denver!

Tina... Oh yes, I've watched a couple episodes of Hoarders!! Scary. I have a sis-in-law that is a hoarder. My brother doesn't let anybody in his house. He has one bedroom he hides in that is off limits to her. I've just seen pictures of it. Thing is, she knows it's a problem, but can't make any changes. It's kind of sad really and has made my brother's life miserable, but they been married over 30 years so it's too late to make changes now. It's just a matter of who is going to outlive who!

Oh dear, I better get going... Just looked at the clock!

I posted the last 2 of the finished quilts, in case you'd like to see!

Good morning!

Cloudy here too. In a short time, I have to head out in the cold to take Mr G to PT. I'll cross the street and get afew groceries, while he's there. Later Sarah will be over. Mr G has messed up the budget/checking again, this happens, it seems, when he's had surgery. Not that I have been banned from keeping it all straight, Mr G wants to do it, so I stay away. Sarah can tell her Dad off and get away with it!

Not much here. I have Grumpy fed and laundry running. Next week, the elves that put up my lights, will be here to take them down and store them. My trash day is skipped until tomorrow, due to the holiday schedule, which is a good thing, I have more time to shovel out the house.

Back at the end of October, I bought at Costco, some waxed amaryllis bulbs. They grew, in spite of me, I kill plants, bloomed at Thanksgiving, then again at Christmas and again now! Supposedly they bloom once, maybe twice, but mine are on a third and a new set of leaves are showing! I'd say I got my money worth! You can't kill these, just filtered light and no water!

Well, the machines are singing and it's time to leave,

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning. It's going to be another great day. We are supposed to get a spinkle or two and just had a short lived gust of wind. Enough to make the windchimes sing and blow the leaves off the roof.

Went and cleaned dad's house yesterday. Their housekeeper quit and I didn't realize they didn't have anyone coming in. I can easily do the job.

Lori, line dancing will be fun, they offer a lot of cool things where you live. I was going to take Sashiko class at the library but it's on the same day as my quilt group meeting, can't do both. My stepmom shares the convo loop with your dad. I now, because of your insight, keep my phone by my bed. I moved the charger to my night stand and there it sits.

Tina, sorry that Jaz is on restriction, but the route the other mom drove was out of her control. And, crazy drivers are out there every night of the week. Kind of like curfew, you can do anything before midnight that you can do after midnight. Glad she got to come over for burgers, Jaz is a favorite of mine, she has really grown up good.

Maryz, Hope the class goes well tomorrow. You may just have found your calling. Quilt teacher. MQ has sent me loads of scraps too, strips, fabric of all sizes. I've learned not to say things in front of her, she remembers and ships at the mere mention of strip, scrap or charm. I think it's so cool that Amara has you and Bill for playmates.

Lois, Which quilt are you making now? hope your shopping is quick and your decorations come down with ease.

Judi, how kind of Ken to make a room just for Christmas treasures, He really is a sweetie. Love the idea of a basement gift exchange. you all come up with cool ways to have fun.

Flo, I was thinking a hair cut wouldd be a good idea for me too. I'll see how my day plays out.

Val, I also have a disaster sewing room. I really need to get my fabric organized. I've pulled out totes of fabric looking for something I can use for binding. In doing so I have it all over my sewing room and I'm trying to get rid of the excess but no one seems to want it. I will likely end up putting it on FB and giving it away, lots of scraps.

Lyn, I bought a set of totes from Michaels, they are plastic with a tray and have a hinge lid. I still have them sitting in my closet unused, but I have the. I'm a container lover. I love things that hold things. You do travel a lot of miles. I'm curious to see how many miles I travel a year now that I don't have to drive into town often.

Maryq, You'll figure out the baby quilts, but isn't deciding just the hardest part of the process? And I love those MSQ tutorials. My go to is usually HST's when I don't know what to make. Does your brother and hoarder wife have kids? I wonder what clicks to make a person a hoarder?

Jana, sounds like your thumb is now green, you are a bloom maker for sure. Hoping the PT and grocery shopping goes well

I'm debating, I need to go into town but should I stop at the thrift store just to see if anything catches my eye.

Monday I go to a pot luck meeting I think I will take long some baked beans from a can. Someone is bringing salad, macNcheese, bread and dessert. The main dish is tri tip. There are only going to be maybe 8 of us and it could easily be the last meeting. The little church I was going to only has maybe 20 people attending. and the meeting is concerning the future of the church. I'm pretty sure it will be disbanded and either relocated or discontinued all together.

Tonight is bingo at the senior center, so dinner will likely be a hot dog.

You all have a fun day, time for me to start mine.

Maryq, guess I worded that wrong. Yes many days I do only get in 30 min, especially if I work that day. I meant that is my minimum time.
