I hope 2025 is a peaceful, happy, and healthy year for us all. (Judi, are you listening??)
We went to bed about 9:15 but we may as well have stayed up until 1am because that's when the fireworks finally stopped after 7 hours. Our dog fussed, whined, panted, pawed, scratched, and trembled for every minute of those 7 hours! We gave him two doses of doggy pain pills left from a surgery he had two years ago because the bottle said it would make him drowsy. But nope. I finally lifted him up onto our bed so he could fuss and pant in our faces. Nothing helped. He had a miserable might and so did I and the cat. Not so Bill. He sleeps through most everything. So happy New Year. I believe I'll have whiskey for breakfast.
JANA - your skiing adventure was pretty memorable. I'm glad you didn't make that side trip to Cuba! Happy birthday to Ethan! He's officially a teenager now! My niece, Carmen, is officially in her 60's as of today. We have 5 more family birthdays this month, among them Autumn on the 10th, who shared a birthday with my dad and our sheltie of that era, Shamrock. It's a party month for us!
DIANE - nice to see you! How is your hubby? Did all your family gather for the holidays?
VALERIE - When you told us about your BIL leaving I think it was Chriss, maybe, that mentioned the song, "Thank God and Greyhouse He's Gone". Now that song has been running through my head for a week!! I don't think his new set up is going to work either, but I hope he's clear that he can't come back to your house! I'm so happy you got to get in some quality sewing time. I know you like going to the shop sewing events.
FLO - Now I have a new song in my head - "Rollin' Rollin' Rollin', keep that dog from Rollin'". lol! Sorry. He really did a good job, didn't he.
MARY Q - yay for your car being home again! And in just a short five weeks since your accident! And you even made your hair appointment! It's going to be a long time before our truck gets fixed. And my hair appt came and went without me. I bought some "jeweled" bobby pins yesterday hoping I can use them to corral my frizzy shaggy tresses. I think we need to wash our sheets and pillow cases again today. Once the fireworks stopped Scottie really snuggled in with us. And he needs to be laundered, too! But we'll start with the sheets.
LYN - I meant to say thank you for thinking of us! That was a cute idea for a fun activity. I'm going to share it with Mom & Dad, too. And you are right - I don't do Messenger. I barely do Facebook. Enjoy your beading. A much smaller hobby to cart along for sure than quilting! And you get to use all those cute little containers!

CHRISS - we have the same clothesline - 5 lines? I use it all the time in the summer. It's great for drying new fabrics that I've run through the washer, as well as laundry, rugs, etc. Sounds like you have another item you can add to Dad's list. I get the feeling he's looking for things to keep him at your house. Once you get those lightbulbs all replaced with LED's, if it's too bright, you can also put "add dimmer switches" to Dad's list. He will thank you, I bet!
JUDI - such a relief that the eye surgeon was able to remove that tiny shard from Ken's eye! You two just had to take your medical adventures right to the bitter end of the year, didn't you! Hoping 2025 is much healthier for you both! Did you finish getting Christmas put back in the box yet?
LOIS - I loved HL for decor items, especially Christmas. But the HL in Tacoma closed this year. I didn't go often, but when I did, it was fun! A visual barrage of tons of neat stuff and I wanted it all! In a way, I'm almost glad it's gone.
LORI - Sounds like Dad is making good, if slow progress. Your tablerunner is beautiful! I think I saw that pattern somewhere before. Your sis will love it. Sorry about the hot water heater. It seems like within this group, we move as one - One year several of us replaced fridges, another year it was dishwashers, some years we have weddings or new babies or new joints. I hope you're not setting this year's trend! I'll look for that box of fabric when we get home from Amara's tomorrow, which will be about 4pm. And yes, I've done about 8 projects since we've been here, but they have all been small ones that go pretty quickly. Today I'm going to set BeWitched aside and get out everything for my class and review that project.
Yesterday I got all nine 13" BeWitchrd (hats) blocks finished. Now there are twelve 6" stars for the borders. I'll cut those out today but won't get them sewn for a bit. This is my last free day until my class on Sat and I want to do some reviewing and make some notes. Kids originally asked us to babysit today and not one of us remembered that it was going to be New Year's Day. When we did, they changed babysitting to Thurs and Fri, with class on Sat starting at 10am at the Laura Bush Library. So today will be a mix of sewing, studying, and sheet washing.
Happy New Year!
