Good morning from rainy Amarillo.
Yesterday's travel was good, though, we were a little slow getting out and I forgot the time change so it was eight thirty when we got here. Luckily there was a Subway at the Love's, so that was dinner in the hotel room. I have Apple music on my phone and when I rolled out of the driveway, On The Road Again came on. Funny because we have a CD in the MH and play that every morning when traveling. Thought it was a good omen.
Onto the house today. I will be driving in rain most of the day. My DB & DSIL are leaving this morning with the Tractor.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Lyn

Re: Saturday November 2, 2024
Good Saturday morning,
Tonite we set the clocks back. It's a small disruption in life but our pets don't miss a beat. One, maybe two days of confusion over feeding times and they are right back on schedule. I think they have watches under all that black hair!
LYN - Glad you made it to Amarillo but you must have been exhausted by 8:30. I almost texted you last night to check on your but then realized with a long, tiring, travel day and 2-hour time difference, you might not appreciate a phone call that late. It was almost spooky how your "leaving song" came on the radio as you were leaving! I hope the rain lets up for you today.
JANA - I'm so sorry to hear about Tanner's diagnosis. Not one, but two! Hard for an adult but for a young teen, it's just not fair! You bet he's getting some special prayers. Our good friend, Lois, also had RA as a teen. She moved to Hawaii for a year when she was about 20 yrs old and her symptoms nearly disappeared with the moist warm climate there. When she moved back to WA, the symptoms returned. But Lois was a trooper and she danced and skied all through her life and lived well into her 80's. Utah winters must be hard on your Tanner. Poor guy!
SHARONA - happy new oven! A couple years ago we bought a Cousinart toaster oven that is also an air fryer, convection, and a few other appliances. We love it, use it a lot, and even take it with us in the trailer when we know we'll be gone a while. We set it outside the trailer on a small table. I made a vinyl cover for it for when we're camping. Dejunking the kitchen. When I really get into a mood for it I can happily spend 2 days emptying all my cupboards, cleaning, purging, rearranging. More than any other room in the house. I like kitchens. That poor man that fell out of his hunting blind! How high up was he?? He is going to be "on the mend" for a long time. He gets some prayers, too.
MARY Q - yep. I'm all ready for my class and everything is stowed in my sewing cubby in the trailer. And
yep again - Autumn says from Jan 1 until we leave, Jan 19, she wants a one-woman quilt show. Believe it or not we still have room in our trailer so I can take 12-14 quilts. Autumn already has about a dozen, plus her friend has 5. So there should be just about 30 quilts on display. Your new floor and a new president all on one day! Tuesday will be exciting for you! What does your new floor look like?
CHRISS - I hope you had a nice time with your friend on the fence. I hope you didn't push her off! Maybe you need to just tell her up front that fast food is off your diet so if she wants to stop for lunch, fine, but it needs to be a cafe where you can get food you can eat. We have no curtains in our house - just valances and blinds on our lower windows (fam room and our bedroom) but we seldom bring them down. Our house is dark and I want all the light I can get. My mom used to run through the names of all 6 of her kids and often a dog or two before coming up with the right one. And that was just kind of how it was - no Alz. And I did the same with my 3 - and dogs! I bet the All Saints celebration was kind of breath taking. Our church just had daily Mass. And yes, we do take a lot stuff when we are going to be gone for 3-4 months. But temps can be in the 80's or as low as 15*. So we have to take some winter and some summer clothes. And we always take quite a bit for Aut. Not to mention sewing projects for 3 months plus Christmas for Aut and for my sisters. The trip home is always lighter.
VAL - maybe you have the old "walking pneumonia"? Both my girls had pneumonia and didn't know it and were surprised at the diagnosis.
JUDI - glad you were able to wave off the mortician. I guess now I know how people lose weight on Ozempic! We like breakfast for supper, too. In fact, we'll be having that a few days from now. I'm doing chili in the crockpot for tonite. For the past two weeks I've been planning our suppers by what WON'T fit into the trailer fridge/freezer. Eating the biggest foods first.
TINA - I'm glad you got the snowman pattern! I think you'll enjoy making it. He fit on our king bed with about 6" drop on both sides so I know he'll fit on yours, too. Will you get special fabrics? I was able to work from my stash except for the background which calls for 5+ yds. But by judicious cutting, I was able to cut it down to about 4~ish yds. I used a pale blue snowflake fabric for background instead of the tan Lori Holt used.
LOIS - did I miss you? How are you feeling?
Yesterday was massage, errands, brunch with friends. I was home by 11:30 and then we set about packing the rest of the trailer. I did 3 loads of laundry and pulled quilts out for Autumn's quilt show. I hope I can fit them all in. I may have to make some choices. I'm going to put them all into white garbage bags to keep them clean. Today we have to make a Costco run to pick up Scottie's arthritis med and then stop by UPS for our mail. And I'll start packing the trailer freezer. Should be a fairly quiet day around here. I might either bring my ongoing Star Silhouette project back into the house to work on or my hand embroidery (Over the River . . .) Or I could start my 'Gotta Leave the House Clean' cleaning though that doesn't sound like a lot of fun. And I need to take my 2 movable plants to my neighbor across the road. I think the 3 dozen pocket tissues I ordered are in at our PMB at UPS so I'll also stuff all of those holders I made for Aut's staff. One more thing to pack. Sigh. My mind is a jumble!
Prayers and hugs around for everyone!

Good Morning Girls
Up Showered and dressed!! Amazing!! Just waiting for my hair to dry a bit, then am headed out to the garage to putts around. Need to do a little recon on the stuff I have ready for the craft fair. Going to be mid 50's here so at least I won't need my winter coat!!
Lyn... Was thinking about you last night as I was saying bedtime prayers! How did your music app just know that "On The Road Again" would be the perfect song to start your day! Are you going to drive all the way through? I looked at my map app so see how long it will take you 9 hours! That's a long haul, especially in crummy weather! Another little prayer on the way!
Maryz.... Yes, Tuesday will be an interesting day! I'll be glad when BOTH things are over!
The floor is a pale gray wood look thicker flooring. I'm hoping to get a good start on emptying the sewing room today and will see if Shawn can come help with the heavy stuff tomorrow. I absolutely HATE asking for help!!
You will have to share a lot of pictures of the quilt show!! Do you have a house sitter for this trip? Will Drew and Alex be able come check on things while you are gone? Nice to have that camera available too.
Judi.... I can just hear it in your voice that you are feeling better! When you've been "laid up in the bed" for a while I bet it feels good to even be doing chores again. Have you ever seen Leanne Morgan? The comedienne? She's hilarious and talks about "laying up in the bed" Like old southern gentle ladies! Lyn texted me info on the quilt you are doing, so I watched the tutorial too. Another one on my to-do list
I have a perfect jelly roll for it. But it's a long way down the list!
Jana... Oh so sorry to hear Tanner's Diagnosis. Years ago I had a young girl that worked for us with JRA, long before they had discovered Humira! My BFF has Chrohns too and it's life changing as far as diet etc goes. I'll add him to my prayer list as well. Tough thing for a young kid!
House Chores got all done yesterday, so I had time to sew a bit and got the Little Purses put together--almost, until I discovered a boo-boo---but it was an easy fix, so today if I can sneak a little time in the sewing room I can complete it and get it ready for the borders. Not sure how much sewing I'll get to do after I take apart the sewing, but I do have my featherweight I can and I can throw my Janome on the dining room table (if I can find the top of it!
)
For now, I think I'll go blow dry my hair and head out to the garage!
I'll catch up with y'all tomorrow!

Good morning, today on the agenda is to try and make a paperpieced pillow cover so I can practice the American Beauty block to do the whole quilt. I may get to scrubbing the kitchen counters and sink too. DH is really not good at that.
Tina hope you got a good nights sleep. I tossed and turned till about midinight and then finally fell asleep until alarm went off at 0430. Lunch time! Can't wait for this to be over. I live for my heated seats. So good that Easton is able to grow up with pets. I think that is good for kids.
Lori I am still not convinced it's pneumonia but will take the ATB and see what happens. I looked up walking pneumonia and doesn't sound like that. Oh would love to have potatoes with chili, but alas, I know better.
Jana I think my granddaughter was about Tanner's age when she was dx with RA. She has gone on to live a normal life. Adding him to my prayers. God will see him through this. The medical community is making so many advances in many different areas. I think in 50 years, things will be so much different.
Sharona I have been trying to figure out when the breathing issues started. The first of the year was a bit of turmoil here as I was dealing with Dad stuff and JoJo had his brain stuff going on so there was just too much for me to remember much else. But it seems like 6 months, maybe more. OMG! the man must be in terrible pain. I am hoping they are adequately treating it. Prayers for recovery, not sure it will be quick though.
Maryq I had the CT scan, that is why the doctor thinks there is a pneumonia. Consolidation left lower lobe. Most doctors would treat with ATB to begin with and see what happens. Consolidations can be so many different things.
Chriss I have been thinking some ginger tea could do the trick. I do drink Zero sugar 7-up. We had it growing up but my parents actually used a lot of coke syrup. How did the whole fence thing hold up. Hope it is still standing.
Lyn how is Amarillo? Love George Strait!
Well about time for me to clock out and get started on something. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning everyone
Maryz, I found new shoes, they are made by FitVille, they are very comfy and wider at the toes, I still can't wear regular shoes but I'm getting closer. Thanks for the snowman fabrics info, I'll be using my stash too, I'll get some blue with snowflakes too for my background, that seems more appropriate for a snowman......here in NM we'd have tan background called dirt but I'd prefer snow

Well I slept late and want to get my walk in so I gotta scoot. It's Dad's night tonight and I'm making soup. We're supposed to get rain tomorrow

You all have a great day! Prayers for those in need

Good morning!
I have the cello run with Ethan today. It's a group lesson, over at a chapel near his teachers house, so I'm sitting in the car typing on my phone. Disclaimer for all typing errors! Sarah would normally be doing this, but she has a philhahominic orchestra performance this afternoon she needs to run the front - answering and straightening out ticket booboos. Ethan hasn't quite made the Phil yet, another year or so.
Tanner will have quite a bit of adjustment ahead. He is a outside, hands on worker. The Humira treatment will cost Matt about $7000 a month. Not sure how much of that will be covered by his medical insurance. Thanks for the prayers.
So another after I get home day, I want to sew! Got the groceries we needed yesterday, so no other reason to go out, even though the weather is very nice today. Snow tomorrow. Can't stay home, it's church.
Well, have a great day!
Hugs

Re: Saturday November 2, 2024
Good morning. what a beautiful day today will be. We got a bit of rain last night. We are supposed to see a little rain this morning then just be in the 60's the rest of the day.
Tonight is all souls day. There is a cute nearby town called Hornitos. A friend and I will attend the event. We take candles and walk up to the cemetery, listen to a prayer, then perhaps attend Mass, and have a few snacks in the hall when it's over. It's one of the maybe 3 events this town has to make money. It's an old gold rush town and that area holds a lot of my family history.
Yesterday I went shopping with my friend. I've decided that she isn't someone I will shop with again. She looks at the bottom of everything and takes forever. I look around and if I see something fine, if not fine again. We easily spent an hour in one shop while she did the I want this, I want that thing and then had me help her haul it to the car. We stopped at a yard sale and she said she hoped she had cash in her wallet. Who goes to yard sales and thrift stores without some money in your pocket? She had absolutely no consideration for me, and I'm not putting myself in that position again.
She wanted to stop at McD's for food, and we were only 30 minutes from home. I didn't stop. She also said she betted I wouldn't want to shop with her again, i told her she was right. What a waste of my day. But, I did get the wide flannel at Joanns and got the half off the one yard remnant as a reward for my being nice. I felt bad for this lady, she has had the blues lately and I thought a day where I listened while we went on an outing would be good for her. Lesson learned. And, get this, I mentioned I was going to arrange my sewing room and she offered to help. She wants to arrange my fabric because she "loves organizing" Not going to happen.
Maryq, I'd love to leave my windows uncovered but the sun comes up in one of those windows and that side of the house feels the heat. If I get insulated honeycomb blinds I can lower them for the sun and raise them for the light. Yay for new floors, what fun to be you. I will be wearing my warmer coat tonight, did you get yours out?
Sharona, I love chili rellenos. I order a chili relleno burrito when we go out to Mexican food. it's a relleno, beans and rice all rolled up in a tortilla, yum. I think about seeing something scary outside too. I still pull my living room blinds down so they stick out over the sills, that way if there are headlights they catch my eye.
Jana, prayers said for Tanner, and for his parents. There are things out there that can help with the cost of meds, and could be a better deal than insurance. Good RX is one, but there are others also.
Lori, how were those poked taters? I've never had chili on baked potatoes, but have had white bean with ham soup over fried potatoes. Hope you got the new car figured out. Not quite sure why it's not easier to use technology without a teenager in the house. I would like to not have blinds or shades on the kitchen window but it's where the sun goes down. All my curtains and blinds are open pretty much all day long. I also make coffee at home and eat before I leave the house. Even if it's just a couple of boiled eggs. Lunch out cuts into my budget when I can eat at home instead.
Tina, thanks, I'll check out that video.
Lyn, your weekend will be all about time changes, we set the clocks back this weekend. Will that mean you will lose the hour you gain or is it the other way around? I'm just not good at math.
Maryz, you do have a lot of loose ends. I'd need a list. Thankfully it will either all get done, or can be purchased or be there when you get home. Nothing will be lost in the process. I did tell my friend that I really don't eat fast food. She's been put on the other side of the fence and won't be going anyplace with me in the future. I think she and I just have different ideas on friendship and being considerate. But that's ok, I have other friends who I enjoy spending time with. Funny how pets just want their food when they want it. Moose doesn't know it yet, but I bought him a new food bowl yesterday, it is washed and will make it's debut when his current bowl is empty. The library quilt show sounds really cool, hope to see pictures.
Judi, isn't it funny when kids learn the word no. I bet Navy is just adorable when she says it. It's good to be you, you seem to be back on your game. cleaning, hockey games. You are moving forward and that knee is doing you well. Good to see. I can read the smile in your posts.
Valerie, hope you give the ginger a try, and it works. Wondering if it isn't pneumonia what it might be? a second opinion might be a good idea? Looking forward to seeing that pillow case. I've not gotten into paper piecing but you can make some beautiful things using that method. I think the kitchen counters are calling me too, and I hear the cupboards saying wash me, wash me. Maybe I'll join you in the kitchen.
Dinner last night was going to be bbq steak, but by the time I got out to put the steak on the coles were almost out. So I broiled the steak, I ate the meat and Moose helped with the bones. A broiled steak may just be my go to, it was pretty good. I have a very small toaster oven that broils, air fry's and toasts. Just right for one steak.
I have hamburger thawing for tonights dinner but not sure what I will make with it. Today there will be cleaning and arranging my sewing room. I'd also like to get a quilt sandwiched. then it's All Souls day.
Hope you all have a wonderful day,
Chriss

Re: Saturday November 2, 2024
Good afternoon from a gorgeous, sunny, warm, SW. Pa...We could not be having better weather but I'm not g going to brag any more, might jinx it......In my little neighborhood, we didn't have too many trick or treaters but my new neighbor across the street, dressed and he and his wife sat outside and welcomed a couple little ones...It's strange to see a fairly young couple living on our "Old Ladies Lane" but they are really nice people and ready to help out if and when needed.....
Oh MaryZ, almost ready to get rolling, right? I remember our winter trips to Florida, trying to pack the car with things I "had to have"..One good thing, with clothes, I usually left a lot down there...And now, Kathy has been doing the same thing....She has 1 of the closets in "her room" filled with mostly winter clothes and in "her" bathroom, everything she could possibly need....Along with spending time with the A team and getting lots of those hugs and kisses, you are really going to have a busy time...I love the idea of a quilt show and sure hope we get to see lots of pictures......You had asked about our cruise with Kathy....It's going to be in December, fly into Puerto Rico for a couple of days and then get on the ship for a week..We'll be back on the 21st, hopefully in time for JoAnn to make her nut rolls, lol....I had decided, instead of putting all my summer clothes away, I took out my vacation stuff and packed my suitcase..
Lori, Happy to hear about the new ride but trying to figure out all the bells and whistles can be frustrating....I have a Subaru and still don't know what all it does...I just remember the fellow saying, "you see that hill over there, well, if you push this button, you can go up that hill"...I looked at him and said, Why would I want to go up that hill???? (And I've never pushed that button!) But, as Tina said, those heated seats are fantastic....Hey, if you order a pizza to go, that seat will keep it warm till you get home, lol.....
Jana, so, so sorry to hear about Tanner...So much for a young fellow to comprehend...But, he will be OK..I remember when our Chris was diagnosed with Hodgkins, at 1st I was so bitter, just wasn't fair...But, as we've said and know, the Good Lord moves in mysterious ways and I think it brought our family so much closer.. With all the prayers and good wishes being sent, Tanner will get through this nasty time and he will be OK.....
Also want you to know, I had the best laugh over you saying you were going to kick Mr. G. through the goal posts of life, the other day.... That was a good one!
Lyn, happy traveling and hoping the rain stops or stays behind you.....Everytime my sister and I go anywhere, one of us will start singing, On the Road Again.....Love it!
Chriss, your days sounds darn near perfect...Just being at home and doing what you want is good...As far as your friend, it's sad, but like you said, you have friends that you enjoy being with, stick with them....And, I'm with you, drink the coffee or eat at home...Most times it's better...All my windows have mini blinds and most of the time, unless the sun is shinning in, those blinds are open....I do have valances on most of the windows but in the winter, I have insulated drapes for the bedrooms and my sewing room...But, I'm a changer, I love, love to change curtains, drapes, most furniture...Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to move the frig and put in an island....Used to drive Jim bonkers, lol..He did say, thank goodness I couldn't move the bathroom fixtures!
Val, Hopefully, one of the antibiotics will do the trick..I stick with ginger ale and it seems to help....One of the times I was admitted to the hospital, I was diagnosed with pneumonia, and I didn't have a clue....Then when they said, they had to drain my lungs, I panicked but that was a piece of cake.....Sending prayers and good thoughts.....
Tina, Where did you find your new shoes? I've been told to get a pair with a good arch...The nerve of the doctor to tell me, my arches are also getting old! I am so used to going in my barefeet but I guess no longer, lol.....Soup sounds so good!
Oh well, need to get moving...I have binding to sew on the last table topper and 1 button on a dish cloth and I'm done! Tomorrow is our craft show and I've already sold 3 of the books and 6 tissue covers.....My sister just called and she's picking me up at 5:00 for a dinner and then play cards.....So my dinner will be roast beef with all the extras, including goodies.......
You all have a great rest of the day...................

I'm back....
Chriss, sounds like you know who to keep close
sorry your outing wasn't very good. I don't like to eat fast food either. You're welcome
Irish, they have FitVille on Amazon but I just went to their site and found what I thought might work and crossed my fingers and ordered a pair....after they got here and I wore them for a few days I ordered a couple more pairs. I'm also using a Dr Schulz support in them.
We went to Walmart and did my return and then finished shopping for Easton's birthday and I got me 3 salads that I eat for lunches; they're Taylor Farms brand. I looked for outside Christmas decorations but I'm not into the inflatable ones and didn't find anything else.....oh well. Frankie did buy me a cute solar whirly snowman at Tractor Supply the other day, he's awesome!
