Good morning all saints day. Im not sure if it is even celebrated anymore. we always had the day ff and went to church on that day.
I never did get to sew yesterday but i got a good handle on the downstairs cleaning,,,all the floors are mopped and the rooms are de dusted. Kitchen floor will still need to be done but it is a small floor. I had a lot of phone calls and then we went to DDs for pizza. First time ive been there in a while and Sophia has the place decorated for Halloween and her and her friend Logan went out for trick or treating,,,I did get to see Nolan as he came home yesterday too It was so good to see him...Liam made the high school hockey team and is bacl with his old teammates and very happy...His best friend who said he was done with hockey forever (also) made the team too...a bunch of smiling faces,,and reunited old friends...Some of these kids have played together to 10 yrs,,,and they are only 16 year olds//
Ken is home working today and that means I will be in the next room sewing...Right now I need coffee and some breakfast and get this sewing room going,,,Hope you have a great day,,,,
I am asking for prayers for my dear daughter in love Val. She is embarking on a medical adventure to try and help her MS...This girl never gives up. She will try stem cell transplants and although very expenaive and it takes up to 5 yrs to see results she is will ing to try anything,,,she also has faith in God to see her through...I knwo your prayers help...THank you,,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Re: November 1, 2024
Looks to be a nice day in the darkness.
Judi, Prayers for Val. I got my cleaning done yesterday too, but decided not to mop the floor. The security guy comes in with wet boots during the winter, so what's the point.
I had a text on my phone this morning from the neighbors to our North. Their security camera shows a mountain lion walking through the yard. I didn't have our system armed, so didn't see how close he walked to our back door.
It's time to get on the road again. Heading for Amarillo.
Y'all have a great day.
Lyn

Re: November 1, 2024
Good rainy morning,
JUDI - Yep - it's all Saints Day, and it's still a holy day of obligation in the Catholic Church. Tomorrow is All Souls Day when we honor the dead. Your post sounds so upbeat and happy, though I bet you were tired last night. Glad you got to go to DD's and see everyone. Good for Liam and his pals! You thought they would miss their hockey! (maybe almost as much as you?
) I hope you get to spend all day playing with your sewing toys. I like your new quilting project. It's my kind of pattern. What colors are you doing it in? I Will pray your DDIL's new procedure is a miracle for her. She deserves one. I take it the stim machine she was trying didn't prove to be much of a success? How is Ken today? You said he might be coming down with a cold and you know how we all worry (for you!).
VAL - Saying a prayer or two for you, too. An abx on an empty stomach? I think you needed a spoonful of sugar, too. I hope the next dose went down better. Or else a different med. Did dr say what he thought is wrong? How much sick leave do you have? Might be time to think about using it since your last day is, if I remember correctly, the end of this month anyway. I'm sure the BIL "situation" is causing some stress and that can't be good for your health either. He needs a job where he is a live-in caretaker somewhere. Say, somewhere in Nebraska? Is that far enough?
JANA - moving and settling that desk is still an ongoing problem at your house? I'm sorry but you are making me chuckle and show off my bad manners. I hope it's all settled now and Mr. G lives to grump another day.
TINA - I love your determination. They do say when you are on an exercise program it's best to alternate your activities so it sounds like you have a good plan. But good shoes are important. Since I started wearing Sketchers my feet are feeling good again. Or even Dr Scholl's will help. I know someone who went to Goodfeet for shoes and now swears by them, but good golly - $$$$!. Sorry I mixed up the boys. I just forgot which one you'd said was sick and was too lazy to go back to the previous day's post to check. I figured I had a 50% chance of choosing correctly. Did they have a good time on Halloween?
CHRISS - Maybe you could take your stepmom to see the orchards? Grocery shopping? Botanical gardens? Out for pie & coffee? to visit a friend? Can she sit through a movie? After watching my brother go through Alz with his wife, are you sure your dad isn't secretly breaking things just so he can come back to your house to "tinker" and thus get a break that I suspect he greatly needs?
You are probably helping him by now more than he is helping you. Bless you both! I've seen the flannel board you mentioned. My "design wall" is two boards of foam insulation from Home Depot that I covered in flannel. One is 2'x6' and the other is 4'x6'. They live behind the quilt room door and when I need them, I pull out the drawers on my fabric cabinet and balance the boards on the open drawers. They aren't optimal but they work. After a fashion.
LYN - happy travel day! I hope you have smooth sailing and good weather all the way. A mountain lion! Now that's scary. We've had lots of coyotes but no lions. Though we did have one about a mile away last year.
LORI - No T/Ters here either. I used to be disappointed about that. No more. Now, I wouldn't have even thought about Halloween except that we went downtown to dinner and found the main drag closed to traffic and tons of costumed kids and adults running all over to the businesses. There were a couple of sweet little Disney princesses with light up skirts in the restaurant! Did I mention in my cat/snake/etc scenario yesterday that the snake was still alive? So it had to be fast sweeping so it couldn't gather its wits and slither away under the furniture!
Yes. Gotta love cats. Just not every day.
MQ - love your little purses! Did you already have the blocks made and just put them together? So cute. I bet a little lady in a nursing home would love to have that on her bed. . . . You really went to town on those shoe bags. I hope they sell for you. Are they lined? I have to admit - I dislike that type of sewing, I used to do it, but no more. But I'm glad you do! The little Bundles of Love project is sweet and sounds right up your alley!
SHARONA - did you get your cookies made? I need to practice more, I think. Mine tasted OK, but most of them looked kind of weird - even for a drop cookie. lol! Bill's fave is oatmeal Craisin but I bet he'd love those butterscotch chips, too. I know I would! Oh, I have a million stories about what the cats have dragged in over the years. I do relocate everything I can except for flies and stinkbugs. If flies or stinkbugs come into my house they are inviting their doom. But mice, ladybugs, even spiders get a second chance. I've never heard of a dog having strep throat before. Interesting.
LOIS - how's it going with the quilting? Are you still in the 80's? We are in the 40's today with pouring rain. Supposed to be sunny and 60* here next Thursday - the day AFTER we leave.
IRISH - I see our Hays eagles are back in the area but the nest is nearly destroyed!
Serious nestorations are needed. They better get started!
Yesterday I bound my Snowman. Almost 400" of binding. It took me exactly 1 hour to bind it. It's now on our trailer bed. After that I cleaned my sewing room up - again. Then we organized some of the stuff in the trailer, stowing things for travel, including my good sewing machine. We broke down our deck, brought all the cushions and room sized wool rug inside to dry out before packing away for winter. Gathered the furniture frames into center of deck and covered it all with a tarp. If we don't, it's full of green gunk by spring. We also loosely covered the big TV with a tarp. It stays out through the winter. After that came a shower and my feet up for an hour before going to dinner with Doyle and Susie and saying our goodbyes to them. This morning I have a massage appt, two short errands, and then meet two former co-workers for brunch. This afternoon, unless something else pops up, we will fine-tune the packing in the trailer.
Someone asked Bill, "what is all this stuff you take?" He said he didn't know. hahaha!! We take Christmas tree, decorations, lights, and presents. Clothes, heavy coats, food. Cases of water, wine, other drinks. Boxes of stuff for my sisters, extra sheets, a stick unicorn, and Autumn's shopping list of brands she can't get in Texas (case of vegetarian chili, 2 cases of rootbeer, case of dill pickles), laundry basket, my sister's birthday present, sewing machine, mats, projects, tools, pet foods, cat litter. And this year a big tent friends gave us for the A-team. Once everything is in, if we can fit in a few more quilts they will go, too, as Autumn wants to have a quilt show at the library. Now aren't you glad our friend asked??
Friday! And a new month. The days are rolling by quickly! Just 4 weeks to Thanksgiving and only 7-1/2 weeks until Christmas!
Mary z (haha! I wrote Mary Q here! I think another cup of coffee is warranted.)

Good morning!
It's just barely light here and cold! Just barely above freezing. I'm snuggled under a nice warm quilt, pulled up to my nose.
Not many ToTers last night. I still have treats left. They'll get put in my butler's pantry for the littles around here to munch on.. Today is PT and then some scavenger hunting. I'm really not in the mood to shop,, but it's getting bare in the refrigerator. Milk is getting dangerously low and we can't have that! Then home to sew. I have a Christmas quilt that needs the borders added and it's then ready to quilt. Sarah has a cousin, on her DH side, that is coming over here Monday to use my LA. Sarah will be here, so if I get those pesky borders on, Sarah can load it for me.
My heat just came on, so nowI have no excuse not to get going,
Lyn - safe travels!
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning everyone
Judi, you still got a lot done even if no sewing. When you said all what you'd be doing yesterday I was like... if be too exhausted to sew after.... now you can sew all refreshed from a night's sleep. Prayers for your DDIL Val
Lyn, we've had more mountain lions around the past few years, they scare the jeepers out of me.
Valerie, I hope you're feeling better today.
Maryz, no problem LOL sometimes in my mind I have to go through 5 names in my mind before I pick the right boy name. I ordered my snowman pattern today, I had a word thing happen....I had the daily deal and went to check it out and it showed I had something in my cart so I clicked on it and it was the snowman pattern on sale..... how word is that?! I figured it was a sign so I ordered it. I entebbe Mom and Dad packing for trips back east, motorhomes and travel trailers have all kinds of storage and can really hold a lot! But it's like you said, it's a jigsaw puzzle.
Jana, Sarah sure is a sweetie, sounds like she's awesome to have around
Today is dog washing day.
Preston won the Halloween costume contest at school again LOL this is his 4th year of winning it and he always wears a different costume and they can't see his face so they don't know who they're voting for. He's pretty happy.
You all have a great day!
Prayers for those in need
Tina

Maryz Ken is having some side effects of the Qzempic the Dr put him on...After he takes the shot he cannot eat any sweets or large quantities of food. If he does he becomes nauseous and crabby. Yesterday was one of those days,,,,Today he is still on low food and in a better mood...He asked for scrambled eggs and toast for supper tonight which is ok with me...I will cook up a few pieces of bacon too we actually like breakfast for supper. I dont think we will need the mortician on speed dial this time.....xxxooo

Re: November 1, 2024
Good morning, yes All Saints Day, I can remember as a child going to church. Seems a lot of church things are no longer as they were. I think the church I grew up in does something on Sunday but no longer on the actual day.
Judi they are making great strides in MS treatment. They have decided my BIL (another one) does not have MS but Parkinson's. He is doing much better on the Parkinson drugs. Prayers that an adequate treatment is found soon. Yes Ozempic does have it's side effects, that is why people loose weight on it I think.
Lyn isn't that a song, Amarillo by morning? Scarey a mountain lion. Good thing you weren't outside.
Maryz the consolidation is in my left lower lobe. He is thinking pneumonia. I am thinking I have no fever, don't really feel sick. I think if I had pneumonia for 6 months I would be a bit sicker if not dead. But I guess he has to start somewhere. It is Doxycycline which I have taken before and don't remember this nausea. They said on an empty stomach but I think I will ignore that. UHM, Nebraska? Maybe Indiana just for good measure. I think we may be going to get rain too.
Jana we had our usual no trick or treaters last night. We are starting the day at 47, getting to 63. Slight chance of rain.
Tina have fun with the dog. I remember we used to have a lab, didn't like bath day at all.
Well DH has breakfast ready so I should go eat. My sewing stuff is still in the car from yesterday so need to get it out. Have a great day all.

Good morning. What a fun day today is going to be. Shopping and yard sales are on the agenda.
I'm just loving my new windows and don't have curtains or blinds on them yet. But you know how you watch a movie, and these beautiful white framed windows with clean glass look out over some beautiful scenery? Well, that's my sewing room. I have three windows in there and love the look of no window coverings. I will probably put blinds or shades in that room, not convinced it needs curtains. My bedroom will get curtains.
Tina, which youtube walk are you doing? I like Walk away the pounds but don't do it as often as I should. My stepmom often goes through names before getting to mine. She mixes up me and her DILs So it's Julie, Erika, Chrissy and i say nope, I'm Eddie (her grandson) and she laughs
Valerie, sorry the meds messed with your stomach. Jerry drank ginger tea, ate ginger snaps and ginger candy and anything else ginger I could find to settle his stomach. When we were kids we always got 7up for an upset stomach, sometimes our stomach was upset so we could get 7up, wonder if the adults ever caught on to that?
Judi, prayers said for Val, gosh I hope it's in Gods plan to make it work. Glad you got so much done and as a treat saw the grands and had pizza. Perfect reward for a hard day's work. Tomorrow we will be at All Saints day. We will light a candle and walk to the church for a little sermon. It's in Hornitos, Ca at St. Catherines church. It's pretty cool. Glad Ken doesn't need the mortician just yet.
Lyn, safe travels. Those mountain lions are a bit scarry. Hope yours finds another place to walk.
Maryz, you do take a lot of stuff when you travel, but you are gone a long time. I imagine that whatever you leave behind allows you to replace the new empty space with items you pick up along the way. Gotta have that weight distribution just right. I also use flannel on foam boards from Home Depot. Works wonderfully.
Jana, I considered going into town to watch the TorTers do trunk or treat but chose to stay home in my slippers. I saw pictures on FB and made the right decision. Nice that you have treats leftover, it means that no one took advantage of the help yourself bowl.
I'm going shopping with that friend who I am on the fence about. but we will see how it goes. She always wants to go through a drivethru for a coffee. Well, dang it, bring your coffee with you and there won't be the need to stop. Or she's hungry and wants fast food. I don't really do fast food. Guess God wants me to learn how to deal with other personalities.
All righty, if I don't get dressed I will shop in my robe. Not cool.
You all have a wonderful day,
Chriss

Guess it's time to get out the winter coat!!! 24* here this morning! The roads are dry but there is still snow on the ground. Sun is shining and if it gets up to 40 something today it will probably melt. Ok by me, at least I'm not in Anchorage where they may call a snow day at school because it snowed all night!
Judi... You did all that cleaning yesterday? Wow you must be starting to feel pretty good again! Do you think you've really turned the corner now? How cool that Liam is back with his hockey buddies. My Nolan gave up singing in a choir so he could play hockey! Once in a while he comes out the ice arena near me so I can go watch him play-- so fun! Will send some prayers for your Val.
Lyn...Sending all good thoughts for an easy drive to Amarillo. How long will it take you to get all the way to the Texas house?
Maryz... The "Little purses" were just a jelly roll, that I had sort of put together, but not cut apart in a box in the closet. It was just a quick grab of something to play with between other project..... you know I have to have a many things going at one time.
I have to think of smaller things that I can quilt myself because I can't ask Viv to do any more for me. The shoe bags aren't lined tho it wouldn't be hard to line them, they are quick & easy. Man you are packing a lot of stuff. Hope you get a lot of quilts in --how cool will that be to have a show at the Library! I'd sure love to see pictures of that! Did you get everything put together for your classes?
Jana.... So did you get snow or did it hit just in the mountains? I've seen how Viv has to load a quilt on her LA.. it's quite a process and Tom helps her load it quite often. Good to have Sarah there to help with yours!
Tina.. Congratulations to Preston. Somewhere around here I have the red ribbon I won in 1957 for the best Halloween costume--it was a clown outfit a friend of my Mom's made. All my kids wore and even grandson Eli wore one year. I have no idea where it is now--probably packed in a box in Alaska somewhere!! Are you going to do the same Snowman quilt Maryz did? You guys are so ambitious!
Valerie.... Ozempic seems to be a real big thing now, or Wygovy. My Dr. prescribed for me, but my insurance wouldn't cover and now hearing all the side effects, I don't think I want to even pay out of pocket for it! Hope the Doxy does the trick for what's causing your breathing problem. When do you go for you CT scan?
Chriss.... Do you remember "Bubble Up" soda pop? That was always my Mom's go to for tummy upset. You sure don't see it on the shelf anymore by that name, but 7-up is the same. I bet your new windows are beautiful! I checked out the kid's new windows at my old and house and they are SO nice with all new white trim. In Mn most window trim is stained wood tones, you don't see all white trim much, but the kids had all new white trim put in and I love the look. Heck, if you have a beautiful view out your sewing room windows, and no neighbors that can peek, I'd say to heck with blinds. Maybe just a little valance at the top for color.
Since it's my "no shower day" I think I'm going to get some house chores done before I head to the sewing room. Need to mop the floors, scrub the toilets and run the vac. After that's done I'll go perhaps get the little purses together. I'll have to dig around in the garage for something for the outer border and the back. One problem using precuts is that I never have the coordinating fabric. My new floor is getting installed on Tuesday, so I'll probably spend most of the weekend clearing out the room to get it ready. Kris offered to come help, but I think I can do it, except for the really heavy stuff.
If I'm going to scrub floors, I need more coffee!!
Happy Friday every one

Re: November 1, 2024
Good morning!
Judi – I bet you’re proud of getting so much done yesterday. Your sweet DDIL is on my prayer list – I pray she gets relief. I do hope you get to sew today. My youngest sister is also on Ozempic and has the same side-effects.
Lyn – safe travels! I would not want to tangle with a mountain lion.
Maryz – what a great quilt to have on your bed during winter sojourn. My gosh y’all are packed to the gills! Before we know it, this year will be done. Amazing…
Jana – I also was snug in my bed and didn’t want to get up. Sure hope you’ve had the last of the big desk adventures.
Tina – happy dog washing day. Good for Preston – that’s pretty cool.
Val – I was wondering if it might be pneumonia. I never felt sick or even ran a fever with mine, but I certainly didn’t have it for six months. I hope you won’t have the nausea by eating something first.
Chriss – I will pray for discernment with this fency friend. I’m glad you’ve already set some boundaries with her. I remember when we got new windows at the old house – it really is nice. There are very, very few things that I find worth leaving the house over. Sure hope you were able to ditch the robe!
Maryq – I like your no-blinds suggestion. It was a big adjustment for me to go from blinds/curtains on every window in the city to no blinds except for the bedrooms. I used to not look out the windows for fear of seeing something scary – now I’m the ‘something scary’ so I look! We are twins with our 24 temps – we’re already up to 51 so all our snow is gone. Happy floor scrubbing.
Today I continue dejunking the kitchen. Costco had a counter oven on sale for under $100. Since I won’t be getting a double oven (WAY too pricey), I ordered it and it should be here today. The toaster oven that is there now will be moved to the downstairs kitchen. We kept waiting for it to die – it’s over 14 years old so it gets to live another day in the basement. Did I mention that my younger son’s father-in-law fell out of his hunting blind? Broke both legs, both ankles and his back. The first of at least four surgeries is today. I cannot imagine the amount of pain he is in. Dinner tonight is leftover chili rellenos. Have a glorious day! xoxo Sharona
