Good morning cool and 53 here,,,but we will go up to the 70s again. Windows opened and fresh air in the house...and its almost Novemeber,,,
I am up getting a few chores done made the bed gathered up the laundry ( Ken will have to carry it down later) I also gathered up my meds and things that were around my chair in the bedrioom..I am done living there...I will return everything to the place its been in the kitchen...Knee is still stiff but I am walking with out the cane,( I still keep it near by in case)
Today I will see if I can do some sewing on the strip sets for the quilt top...I am hopeful. I do have a few phone calls to make today and see how much tidying up I can do...Ken will help clean the basement room and prep it for thanksgiving,,,
Therepy told me yesterday to practice getting in and out of the car on the drivers side and see how i do...if It is ok to maybe have Ken take me to an empty parking lot and try a bit of driving,,,He is anxious to get me more independent so he can resume his work schedule...( He is a workaholic some days)
Well I need coffee and maybe some toast...hope your day goes well and you get to do all the things you need,,,,Prayers going out to all who are dealing with medical issues and other things,,,I am living proof that your prayers work...XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning!
Still dark and rainy here this morning. It will be a busy day here too. Mr G has his PT first, then I have my eye appointment. The storm here now will be slow in heading east and is dropping the snow levels in the mountains.
Don't know how much sewing will get done today. Usually after my eye, I can see well to sew. It's just a matter of other uglies needing attention first.
Matt has a long commute from here to his office on the base and his big truck eats fuel, so Matt just got a Tesla for his commute car. It's a previously owned one, so not the outrageous new price. I hope it works for him, I am not a fan of any electric vehicles. The range you can drive before you have to wait hours to charge is not my cup of tea! Today Matt is installing the charger station at his house. Mr G is lending his expertise as well.
Hopefully today, Logan gets the paperwork snafu straightened out and gets the DMV official paper to drive. The driving instructor didn't fill out his side of the papers correctly and there's school today, so that can be fixed.
Better get myself dressed and busy,
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning!
Judi - Glad you are doing much better. Getting in and out of the car for most of us is a strain on our knees because we put our foot in first. Instead try sitting down first, then lifting your knees and then turning. I was having knee pain until I did this method, now no pain. Good luck!
Jana - Love your tips the other day on cleaning windshield. I had one of those devices. Mine was made by Invisible Glass. I have had it for several years and wasn't using it. I used it and it worked on the inside windshield. Thanks!!
Carol

Re: Tuesday October 29th
Good morning,
VAL - prayers offered up for your SIL. I pray he can be treated sucessfully. And how did your CT yesterday go? WAiting for results is the tough part. CHRISS is right - don't make your BIL too comfortable. Make sure he's just got a cot or bunk, be noisy, and make him do chores - just like you would a teenager. There's a reason we have no beds in our house but one - and it's ours. And Foxy's and Scottie's, too, of course.
LOIS - I hope your new carriage works better for you. Your allergies are sure hanging on.
JUDI - you are making so much progress! You will be dancing in the kitchen by Thanksgiving! Fun to anticipate a new quilt. I've seen Country Roads but I'll have to go back and refresh my mind on it.
TINA - I'm sure that was a fun class you took. MY class will be very basic, for those who are just learning how to use rulers, rotary cutter, and 1/4" seams. Bill doesn't like to wash vehicles either. He did wash the car about 10 days ago and the pick-up over the weekend. The pick-up I understand because we're hitting the road in a week but I was flabbergasted that he washed the car. He'd just washed it 2 months ago!
LYN - I was thinking your Sewing Shack was move-in ready when you left it last spring. The fun part will be when you finally get to move everything in and start arranging! One thing, if you want to tack quilts on walls or anything else for that matter, it's easier to do with sheetrock walls. Love your idea of gift cards given with a favorite treat - homemade cookies, bread, jam, sausages (all the rage in the 70's), or even a quart of homemade wassail.
CHRISS - your Sunday was Chock-a-block full of love! Glad it was so nice! How was your Step-mom? Did her sons show up? Did you talk to them? Sorry your eggs tipped. I have a Tupperware deviled egg carrier with a lid. If my eggs tip, they don't tip far. We have round-abouts all over Gig Harbor now with even more planned. We don't have that much traffic in our small town, but the powers that be are round-about crazy. Trucks can't get around the smaller ones so they just go up and over. Even the tiny town of North Pole, Alaska has 2 of them less than 1/4 mile apart. And yes, I'm making a supply list for my quilting class as I think of it. I'll be sending it to Autumn. Her friend, Leah, (for whom I made the Lemur quilt last year), is actually the one coordinating this class - and all activities at the library. The library will supply some things, including batting.
MARY Q - You have a living room and a sun room, right? What do you use the sun room for? Couldn't you use it for an extended sewing room? And if there's no doors you could always just set up a decorative screen if you wanted to close it off. Just thinking outside the box. I once had my gramma's 10-foot frame (for hand quilting the old fashioned way) set up in our family room for 6 months. I'm sure your chicken quilt is lovely. We are our own worst critics!
JANA - I'd like to see a race between Daniel and Aaron, driving their "hot rods"! Thanks for your continued tips. Keep 'em coming! I'm taking notes, making a list, and gathering my 'stuff'.
CAROL - so good to see you post! Good tip on getting into the car. When I was in high school (all girls Catholic school) we went to the other girls school across town for 3 days of "charm school" and that is exactly how they taught us to get into the car. Sit on the seat and lift and swing both legs in at same time Good exercise, too!
IRISH - I never watched Desperate Housewives, but Bill did! lol! So what all have you made for your craft show? When is it? My SIL is 81 and last summer she took a trip back east for 6-8 weeks and this past summer she went to Alaska - just her and her dog - in her small motorhome. Though she and Jim had RV's for decades, the last 10 years of Jim's life she did all the driving and setting up, emptying waste tanks, fueling etc. So she is experienced. There is a group with Escapees travel club, I think called Silver and Single - solo ladies traveling in RV's. They don't necessarily travel together - just meet up here and there for gatherings, etc.
Yesterday I finished my table runner and posted a photo if you want to see it. It will be my prototype but I'll give it to Autumn (if she wants it) after the class. Or to Leah, who is organizing library activities. Today I hope to get my "in progress" samples made. But we also have company coming for supper so we need to get some salad fixin's at the grocery store, stop at Home Depot, and pick up our mail at UPS store. My pocket tissues are in for my 3 dozen purse tissue holders so I'll be stuffing them soon. Then I need to clean the bathroom, vac the living/dining, and sweep/mop the kitchen. Plus make my chicken Parmesan for supper. So it's going to be a full, action packed day, the first of three busy social evenings.
I will try today to contact BECCA and see how things are going with her. I know after Helene went through NC, she went to stay with her DD for a while.
Don't forget to stop now and then and breathe deeply!

Good morning!
Judi – wow – look at you go! Congrats on moving out of the bedroom. I hope the test driving goes well.
Lois – yay for the new frame! I’m anxious to see how much you like it.
Jana – good luck with your busy day.
Carol – good to see you.
Maryz – those roundabouts – I finally learned how to navigate them (get in there and gun it). The worst place I’ve ever seen for roundabouts is Hays, KS. They have about six of them in a half-mile stretch. Have a lovely time with your lucky dinner guests. I’ll go check out your table runner.
Val – prayers for your SIL and your DD. How did the CT scan go? Any reaction to the contrast?
I met my longest BFF (50 years!) for lunch yesterday. Then had to take a nap from all the excitement – lol. Today is Bible study and then finish the rest of the winterizing tasks. I did find evidence of some mice Sunday night, so Jim bought some foam sealant at Home Depot and we will go around again to try and keep those blighters out of here. Have a glorious day! xoxo Sharona

Re: Tuesday October 29th
Sun has just came over the Mtn, only 37* right now.
Jana, Thank you for that good information!! I will put up sheet rock and then Captain's Cabin bead board half way up on at least one wall, or maybe all around. The electrician has put in heavy wire and I have 18 outlets, including one in the ceiling if I want my HQS16 in the middle of the room.
Judi, Sounds like your recovery is going well, though maybe a little slower than you hoped.
Lois, I hope the new carriage works better for you.
Carol, HI, good to see you post. Please don't be a stranger, we miss you.
MaryZ, I could have paid big bucks for the Cabin to be finished, but I wanted control on where the outlets were placed and I couldn't to that at the factory. I added a couple more outlets when the electrician was running wire.
Chriss, Thank you for fondling fabric for me!!
Sharona, So you have driven the round about's in Hays! My DD2 says they have helped traffic, but complains that people don't use their turn signals to let you know if they are turning to a side street or staying in the round about.
The trailer is 3/4 full. We still had our Segway boxes from when we bought them. I'm glad I hadn't thrown them away. I took one and used to hold Garry's fish graphite mount, a Salmon. It fit perfect at an angle and I cut the sides down. Amazon had sent the vent in two boxes and the larger one was perfect for my Walleye. The other Segway box is now a barrier wall held in place by straps to keep the boxes and totes from shifting to the back.
Today I will get the few boxes left and then the chairs loaded. I have laundry to get done, too.
Y'all have a nice day.
Lyn

Re: Tuesday October 29th
Good Morning Girls
A little later than usual here this morning, but I thought I'd take my shower first so that the water heater would make more hot water for Chriss to take her shower too!
Judi... Kind of sounds like you have turned a corner a little bit.. to be able to walk without a cane!! Great idea to practice driving around an empty parking lot! Viv had her first knee done in Nov of last year, I and I don't think she's driven since.... might be a good idea for her to try it! She does have a stick shift car tho. You are hosting Thanksgiving dinner? I hope it's "Pot luck" and everybody brings a dish so you don't have to spend hours standing in the kitchen.
Lois... Hardly feels like almost November when it's this warm! You just never know... we could have a snow storm tomorrow, that's how fast things can change. In 1991 we got 38" of snow on Halloween Weekend. The storm was so bad even mail carriers were called off the roads! I hope I never see a storm like that again! I'm loving these warm fall days!
Jana... Speaking of snow storms, please don't send yours this way!! Do you suppose you will get much at your house? or just up in the mountains. We usually get our first snow fall then it melts and as the ground freezes the snow stays longer. After our odd last year with <10" of snow all year I wonder what this year will hold.
Maryz... Yes, living room and sunroom. The Sun room isn't super big and has a fireplace in the middle and houses my desk and other paraphernalia--- a couple tables for storing things like computer printer, extra computer, books and files on one end and other end near the door that goes out to a patio is Auntie's sewing machine and my quilt rack. Not a lot of room but it's a good idea.. I might do some rearranging after that holidays! My goodness you are busy in these last days before you go. Can't believe you will be leaving in a week already! When you get your Mail at the UPS store, do they forward your mail to you while you are in Texas?
Sharon... ACCCHHHH Mice!! The first fall I was in my new place I had mice, but I haven't seen any since. I put Irish Spring Soap all over in the garage and I don't know if that helps or not but I haven't seen any in the house again. I'm not afraid of them, I just don't want them in the house. They are just ugly! Mickey Mouse might be cute, but real mice are NOT! How fun to meet for lunch with an old friend. It occurred to me the other day that my BFF and I have been friends for 60 years!! I have pictures somewhere of her 13th birthday party!
Valerie... You are going all the way to Vermont??? Oh pick me up and I'll go with you! Love Vermont!!! I have cousins in Stowe and was out there in I think in 1991 for a big family reunion. It's a beautiful area up in the mountains. It's where the Trapp Family settled after they came to America, though you probably knew that.
Chriss.. California is going crazy for round abouts there too? Minnesota is too, I think we've had 7 or 8 new ones just in my town over the last couple years. It would fine if people would know how to use them!! Maybe they decided it would be cheaper to use round abouts than intersections with lights. You had a marvelous time with that baby!! Sorry about the eggs, did they stay whole or did you have to make egg salad out of them!
Lyn... That's a great idea for gifts!! I have no idea to what to get for the teenagers!! I'm sure they are tired of getting my home made little do-dads etc. I might just get 2 big tote boxes and fill it with food for each family. For Jen in Alaska I'll get gift cards. I know Lowes is one of David and Jen's favorite places. Last year I made little gifts for Sara's nieces and nephews and Sis-in-laws and never heard a word from them. Not even a little text of "thank you" so I'm not doing that this year. The girls all got head-wrap towels with their names embroidered on them, and I never heard a word! I'm thinking, even if you do panel in your sewing shed, like Jana said, sheetrock first would be a good idea, help with insulation and you've got a lot of electricity going on back there! You wouldn't haven't even paint it, but don't do like I did and put wallpaper right on top of it without priming and painting and sizing!
No such thing as too many outlets!!
Time for me to get busy, the usually morning shine up and need to throw a load of towels in the wash. The Chicken quilt will also go in the wash today to soften it up and bit. I always kind of hope that a wash & Dry of quilt with hide some of the mistakes! I did pull another little project from my closet yesterday so I might play with that. Katie showed me a new pattern for a "shoe bag" made with upholstery fabric, so since I have a little stash of that and some zippers I might try one or two and see how they go.
Hope you all have a Terrific Tuesday

Re: Tuesday October 29th
Judi, it sounds like you are slowly getting back to normal. I bet you are ready to drive again. That was the biggest draw back for my friend. She is always on the go, and when she had her knee done it slowed her down.
Chriss, sounds like you had a great time with the family on Sunday. I bet little Elliot just loves his Grandma.
It seems like the weeks fill up fast for you and me both. I can go from having nothing to having not time for anything else.
Maryq, yes, they are putting in more round abouts here in CA. It's to keep traffic flowing. The problem is they put them in intersections that are too small. And yes people don't like to use them. It works to my advantage, because I'm the one who doesn't stop.
Val, I sure hope all goes well for you daughter and SIL. A trip across the country sounds wonderful.
Can I tag along?
Lyn, sounds like you are moving right along. Lots of packing.
Sharona, It's great to have friends for a long time.
Maryz, your table runner will be a perfect project for newbies. You are busy, busy, busy getting ready for the trip.
Hi, Carol. Good to see you post. What are you up to these days?
Tina, I like red, but not for a big vehicle. Too much work to keep it clean.
Jack and Wrigley are waiting for me. I have some errands to do this morning, then I'll go sign paperwork on my car. It's a light silver. We'll be watching the world series later. It LA wins tonight it's over. I can't believe NY hasn't won one.
Don't know what's for dinner. Maybe leftovers.
Have a lovely day.

Re: Tuesday October 29th
Finishing my coffee and Minnie needed some lap time.
Valerie, Prayers for your SIL and DD. Is this the one who takes care of the great Gkids?
MaryQ, You were wanting people to open a box, not just an envelope with a gift card, right? So my suggestion was to put the gift card in the box with a couple snacks to fill box. But, since you thought I meant no gift card and just box of food....I have done that 3 or 4 times for my siblings and Garry's sis. I have also sent a box of Taffy from the famous Taffy Shop here in Estes. Now y'all have me thinking what to do this year.
Cups empty, back to work.
