Friday the 13th!

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Sep 13, 2024 6:08 am

Good morning!

Friday the 13th! The last Friday the 13th in Sept, 2013 was the day we got 7 week old Naughty Scottie. Should have been an omen!

MARY Q - did you find any wonderful, irresistable treasures yesterday?

SHARONA - Did you finish your tote for your DIL?

JANA - how was your catfood dinner? Foxy perked up his ears at your menu! Prayers for Jonah. Please keep us updated.

LOIS - I know you're gone for a few days but I hope you're having a fun time and finding everything you were hoping to find and more!

GRAMMA CHRISS - glad you got to face time with Sir Elliott The Cute. Most babies lose about 10% of their birthweight after birth but regain it in a few days. I hope you get to meet him in person this weekend. As for bathrooms, we redid our main bathroom about 3 yrs ago. We painted, new floor, new toilet, vanity, sink, mirror. We had the tub/shower resurfaced which made it look new. It's never used except by company which means hardly ever.

BECCA - I'm glad you're feeling well enough to go back to water aerobics. Progress!

LORI - I wish you would put me on your list of laundry when you make your rounds! Today is bedsheets along with clothes. I need to re-accquaint myself with Sashiko. I checked it out when you were doing some earlier this year and now LYN is also picking it up. Maybe you are trend setters??

IRISH - great to see you here! But sorry you've had more problems! Sounds like you need to assess your wardrobe as to what colors go best with purple! I sure hope you settle down soon. The wedding sounds so pretty, fun, and unique! What are you planning to make for your craft fair? Mary Q is also sewing for a craft fair. You two should swap ideas.

JUDI - your quilt is lovely! I bet you're glad to have it finished and your sewing room all tidied up for the interim. Though if you are like me, and I think you are, it probably won't stay all that tidy for long.

LYN - hope your travel day was a good one! Are you there yet or do you have another day to drive?

Yesterday we ended up at Costco and Albertson's, picking up last minute camping food. Then we stopped at my chiropractor to drop off the little airplane baby quilt I made this summer. My chiro is a father/son team and both work on me every appointment. The son had a baby boy the same day that Chriss's DGS was born, Kieran Michael. After that I came home and did some sewing and then made orange chicken for supper. Today is finish my secret project, do laundry, change bed sheets, and make cake or cookies to freeze for camping. I think we'll grill burgers for supper and do fries in the air fryer. And give Scottie an extra treat today to celebrate the day he got us. He's done a really good job training us over the years.

Happy Friday, 13th!!

On the road again. Today we leave for Hays. It's about 300 miles. Yesterday was last day at Dr office. The staff is so sweet to me, knowing what I'm dealing with, Garry. They all gave me a hug goodbye, even the Dr stopped me and gave me a hug.

Chriss, I hope you took the opportunity to let your son know you need to be hugging Buster, for all of us and SOON.

Lori, Would you share where you got a Sashiko Christmas panel?

Time to get this show on the road.

Good morning!

Maryz - I have not finished the tote yet. I made every mistake possible yesterday, so that put me behind. I will get back to it after I return the h2o test I wore last night. I bet the son loved the baby blanket! I remember you making it. I vote for cake.

Lyn - safe travels to Hays. You are a strong woman - hugs from here as well.

Jana - prayers for Jonah.

O'Dorothy - I am also on blood thinners, and you are so right about the interesting bruises that come up from seemingly nowhere. It's always an adventure playing 'guess that bruise'! Hope your ankle is getting better.

Today I will be out sewing after taking the afore mentioned h2o monitor to the FedEx drop-off place. It's only a few miles, and much better than having to drive an hour. My youngest sister will be here tonight to watch the beasts as we head out to Alamosa tomorrow. We have to leave before dawn, so I shall miss posting. Tonight's meal is meatloaf with baked potato and salad. Have a glorious day! xoxo Sharona

Good morning Girls

OH my Friday the 13th~!!! Do any of you watch those scary Friday the 13th movies? Not me!!! Back in 1971 Dex took me to see "Night of the Living Dead" the old black and version, scared the bee-jeesuz out of me and since then I can not watch scary movies at all!!!

Maryz... Oh I love the name for your chiro's little baby boy!!! It's a good Irish name! How's the cough? Might night be a bad idea to take a little cough syrup along---just in case!

Sharon,... Don't you just love Chipotle!!! They just opened up one here an the first few weeks there was a line out the door!! It's really handy because I can order online and just drive through--so I can drive through in my jammies!!

Jana.... You know, I don't mind getting a little order, but what really makes me mad is not being able to do the things I used to. Like move furniture by myself or paint when I feel like it. And I HATE asking for help, especially from my kids who are always so busy!!! Your projects sound like a lot of fun and I hope Mr. G gets on board with your plans. Will send a little prayer for Jonah!

Chriss.... OH so fun to Facetime with Little Elliot!! I so feel yourpain, being so far away and the feeling about being kind of "out of the loop" I sometimes feel bad that I can't do for my Grandkids what the other grand parents do. But I know they love me the same, even if I don't see them a lot. Every now and then I work on a list of my stuff... to write down who gets what. A lot of my stuff I don't care about, they can sell, but there's family things that are special--especially the stuff my Dad made for me, and my Grandmother's Desk etc that I'll haunt them if they sell.

Lyn.... A prayer to St. Christopher for safe travels. You are going CO after your time in Hays?

Tina... How is your Dad doing.

Had a fun day with Peg. The garage sale was in a big huge horse arena so there was lots of stuff!! There was a darling little sewing machine cabinet that somebody had painted--I was SO tempted to get it to put my little feather weight on, but I just could not picture a place In my house where I could put it. Tho I might sneak over tomorrow and see if it's still there. It's painted a soft green color and I would probably repaint it, but it was stinkin' cute! Only $24.!!! They had lots of fabric and I picked up a couple cute pieces of Christmas fabric and a chuck of wide wale corduroy to make a tote bag out of it and a few little sewing notions. After that was a trip to HL ---all I needed was fusible interfacing and I was fine until Peg showed me this DARLING fabric with little chickens---and even tho I'm not into chickens... it was so cute I had to buy some--thinking aprons for the craft fair!! SO it's all washed and ready to go for when ever I get around to it!

Believe it or not, I have my Christmas swap blocks all put together and bordered and ready to pin and quilt! Luckily I had a perfect piece on hand for backing, so with a little bit of luck I'll at least get it pinned today and maybe a good start at quilting it myself.

My dishwasher needs to be unloaded this morning, then a little shine up around here and I'll be able to hit the sewing room.

Wishing you all a Fabulous (and not scary) Friday

Good morning!

On my phone, so spelling doesn't count! I'm sitting in the car a cello lessons for Ethan. Boy does this bring back memories of sitting and waiting for private flute lessons or piano lessons for my kids! Ethan doesn't start school for another 90 minutes. Instead of early out on Fridays, it's a late start. My opinion, dumb! But it's what they think, until we can vote them out.

No further update on Jonah. Your prayers are gratefully appreciated. The optimistic view is 24 hours in the ICU and 3-4 days in the hospital more. Primary Children's have rooms for the parents to stay all the time he's there. Food brought to them as well. Crenda has the siblings, a sister and two brothers. One brother is Jonah's twin.

Mr G and I worked and have the middle bedroom all arranged and set up. Took some doing, but two old decreipted people did it and didn't kill ourselves! Today is the office, finally! Mr G still wants to measure some placement for things. He hates moving things twice.

So there's hope to get to the Batt Cave today and sew. Daniel will be over for deck work. The rest of his fastening system got here, a good thing. Daniel thinks he'll be done next weekend. He still has some fussy cuts and framing before he can fly on putting the field deck boards down.

Well, time goes quickly when using a small screen and just oh ne finger to type, on to the next part of today,

Hugs and thanks so much for the prayers, they are heard!,
Jana

Good morning. It's going to be a wonderful day today. The weather is just beautiful. I even had to put on a robe and my warmer slippers. While we will see some days in the low 90's this month the weather in the mornings and evenings is crisp and cool.

Yesterday I cleaned out more garage stuff. Pulled things off of shelves and almost have it all down. I still need to go through the Christmas totes and there are three that I have no clue what is in them. When I am done I will have someone help put them back on the shelves. I have so many totes and lids that are empty. And I think I have more lids than totes.

I did find 5 coffee makers and since the one I am using is causing me trouble I may just see if one of the 5 works. We have hard water and even with a monthly rinse of vinegar through the pot they still plug up. I also have a load to take to the thrift store next week.

I'm also still shopping for blinds or shades for the kitchen windows. As the weather cools the sun won't be so hot as it goes down in those windows so I have time.

Last night I went to a 30 minute talk, 30 miles away, with a friend about Alzheimers. It's a series and there is one talk monthly. This friend has been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's and doesn't' drive after the sun goes down. And because she is a dear friend I do the driving. Afterwards we go get a salad bar at the sizzler and of course that is followed by their soft serve ice cream.

Jana, prayers said for Crenda's nephew, and for his doctors. I laughed when you said Mr. G didn't like to move things twice. I think it was last week you said you needed to clear off the piles on his desk. I think the two go hand in hand.

Lyn, The kids are taking Buster to quite a few doctor appointments. He's lost a little weight and is having feeding issues and is a little jaundiced. So, it looks like next week will be when I go. You know how it is, new parents, anxieties about "doing it right" It's an adventure full of unknowns. I wish there was a way to make them believe it will all be fine and that he will thrive.

Maryz, congrats to the chiro guys on their new baby. Today is also Jerry's birthday, he was born in 1956. I think, before I tackle bathrooms, I will really give the kitchen cupboards a good cleaning. Take the doors off of the cabinets and give them a new set of hinges. I think they will like that, I know I will.

Maryq, I agree with everything you said to Jana. I wish I could lift things. I have a big bookshelf that has been in almost every room in this house and I don't want it. I'd like to see it go but will need someone to move it. ugh. I had a desk some time ago that needed to get out of the house and no one wanted it so I took it apart and hauled it out piece by piece. I haven't even looked at my Christmas swap blocks. Guess I need to update my todo list and add that to the mix.

Sharona, I also get bruises that I have no clue where they came from. I went and got an updated vaccine (MMR and Tetnus) and the nurse said maybe I needed more iron. So, I've been eating more red meat. I think it's helped, but the more work I do the more bumps I get. I also have some crepe paper skin and defined veins in my hands. But, I'm using a body wash that says age defying on the bottle. Imagine how I'd look if I just used plain old body wash.

Plan of action today is to pull down the final totes in the garage, I think there are three that aren't Christmas. Before putting the totes back on the shelves, I might need to lighten them by using the extra totes I have. I also found a box of stuff to send to Jerry's brother. After the garage I will sew a bit. But first, a load of laundry and breakfast.

You all have a fantastic day.

Lyn, this is the one I ordered Sashiko panel Christmas Vine preprinted washout fabric HM-47.
It was on Etsy. If you type in Sashiko Christmas tree, there are several.

Maryz, sorry I didn't invite you to the "let me do your laundry party." Maybe next time. Happy adoption day to Scottie. He's not naughty, he's just misunderstood. I might bake some cookies this weekend now that it's cooled off a bit.

Maryq, it's good to have friends that show you cute stuff. I have a few of those. Glad you found some stuff to buy. I bet that little table was cute.

Jana, I sure hope Jonah is doing better. That's scarry.

Chriss, when you finally get done organizing and rearranging, What will you do with all your free time?

Sharona, what's in Alamosa? I must have missed that.

I had a class this morning on learning to play Bridge. It's a pretty complicated card game. I think it will be fun once we get going. A friend is taking the class too, so I have a partner. I did dads grocery shopping and made him lunch, then the caregiver showed up. So I have a free afternoon.

My DGD received her white coat for becoming a pharmacist this afternoon from University of Utah college of Pharmacy. They live streamed it, so I was able to watch. So proud of that girl.

Dinner will be leftovers.

Have a lovely evening.
