Thursday july 18
Good morning I have been up since 445,,,got 3 loads of laundry done...I am now headed to the scavenger hunt we didnt get done yesterday...It took 5 hrs to get the phone transfered and now i have to redo all the log ins on my phone...Colleen set up the Applewatch for me so I need to learn how to use that too...
Our eye appts were fantastic..My retina specialist told me my eye problem has not changed,,,so that is good and my cataracts are stable and do not need any intervention now either..
I will head out to run errands and probably take a nap when we get back...Burgers on the BBQ are whats for dinner...
CHRISS you have a good memory,,I do have a bunch of blocks made for the garden quilt but when I destashed I did get rid of the fabric that i was supposed to use to finish it..I think I have six blocks to go and I will pull it out and see what i need...I do have a full box of fat quarters that may provide enough fabric to do it if i ever feel like finishing it....and it shouldnt be a problem to get some border fabric...for it too...I do have a stash of scrpas i can dig through too...not to fear I might get it done too...thanks for the reminder,,,,
Well I need to get going ,,,hope you all have a great day XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOo

Re: Thursday july 18
Good morning
July 18, my late hubby's birthday. He would be 73. He was only 33 when he was killed. And now our grandson is almost that old. We were only 16 when we met in a bowling alley. Well, I was actually 17yrs and 3 weeks. An older woman.
My parents called him That Pimply Kid. We literally and forever fell in love at my junior prom. My corsage and his boutonniere were carnations and to this day the smell of carnations takes me back to that dance.
We were married 3 years later. I still miss him every day. I always try to do something enjoyable to mark his birthday because the day he was born should be celebrated. To that end, I'm going to wash bed sheets, clean trailer bathroom, and house kitchen drawers. However - I do plan to spend a little time in the sewing room this afternoon just for me, sewing flashcards for our granddaughter.
And now you know part of my backstory. Oh - and I almost forgot! Today starts a 3-day final "empty the shop" sale at Trains Fabrics that closed last year. $3/yd for quilting cotton. $1 for other fabrics. I need no fabric but who can resist these prices? MARY Q - need any fabric??
JANA - Funny . . . Was it Chriss, yesterday, who was mentioning her collection of insulators was missing and today you're setting out a collection of insulators . . . . Coincidence?? I'm guessing you aren't doing much baking during your "bake days". The first time I was in Utah was in middle 70's. 106* and we had no A/C in our car. We drenched ourselves from a gas station water spigot and drove with the windows down and splurged on a motel with a pool that night. It was decades before I would go back to Utah and we made sure we had A/C!
MARY Q - does washing the fabric get rid of the smell? Once I got about 12 boxes of fabrics that had been stored in an empty house for 3 years and it took me a few washings, white vinegar in the rinse, plus letting it hang on the clotheslines 2 days before the musty smell came out. You asked - Al & Tina arrive here July 29. Our ferry leaves Bellingham (3 hours north of us) Aug 2. We arrive back home Aug 30th and I suspect A&T will leave Sept 1 to drive back to CO. They need to be home by Sept 4th at the latest. 4 of us in our car for a month, even sharing a motel room a couple of nights will be a real test to our sisterhood.
LOIS - glad your Bill is feeling better. A tablet will be a nice gift for his birthday. My Bill's birthday is Saturday. I really didn't know what to get him. He is a computer geek so getting him anything computery would be a coals to Newcastle situation. He's getting drill bits and a flashlight. Glad you are enjoying the dogs! One great thing about that pattern is that the dogs are all different. Not like a gazillion identical hedgehogs!
SHARONA - so sorry your dad isn't doing well. Offering up a prayer for him.
CHRISS - Glad you found something to spend your prime dollars on. We did, too. I got a book/craft light that goes around my neck. I HAVE to read before I go to sleep so I needed it for our trip and sharing rooms with my sis. And Bill got his birthday drill bits. My parents always had dogs. Daddy insisted, when one dog got old, he would get the next dog so the old dog could teach the new dog how to act. I figure at our house, that wouldn't work to our advantage - not with Naughty Scottie as the teacher! And drat! I forgot about the kitchen floor!
LYN - I wish we were on your route - you could bring your MH and we'd store it for you in our back yard. When you're used to having your own "home" wherever you are it's kind of hard to adjust to motel rooms. I'm glad you're going to Oregon. (Tell Garry it's a very nice state!) And going to be together with your siblings. We've lost two brothers but when we get to Alaska, we remaining four will all be together again. (my younger sis is flying up for the week at my brother's). We will make memories. And you are right - The angels were definitely watching out for President Trump that day. I hadn't noticed the flag angel.
VAL - your BIL is bringing that old song to my mind, "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all". I'm glad he was far enough away that you weren't "on call" to come rescue him. I label all my quilts. Sometimes they just say my name and the year. I use my white scraps and fuse interfacing to them as stabilizer. I keep several on hand. It takes about 10 min to stitch out the label. Then I fuse it to the quilt and blanket stitch around it with the machine. Start to finish is about 20 minutes. If I want to get fancy, I put a little binding on the label to match the quilt binding.
TINA - glad you got in for a haircut. Long hair can be hot! $27 is a great price! I pay $30 and I just get a dry cut. And she is cheap for here! Scottie's is $90, which is why he doesn't get to go more often. But the 26th is his appt. And his birthday. He HATES groom appts.
JUDI - I know by the time I finish this, you'll be here and then I'll cut and paste my post. What are you doing today? ..... and there you are! Bummer about purging the fabrics you now need. About 5 yrs ago we did a big purge in the house and have since wondered if that happened to this or that that we're looking for.
Got to run. Or walk. Time to meet Lori Across the Road to walk.

Re: Thursday july 18
Nice day here.
There was no fishing yesterday, DH said he wanted to sleep in. I changed out of my fishing pants, they have lots of pockets for license and other stuff. I emptied the Jeep, checked tires and took it into town and got gas. $1.69 a litter.
Judi, Transferring phone stuff takes a long time, hope you got it all. I lost an important page of information when I did mine. Good news on your eyes.
Tina, I hope you get answers at your Dr appt.
MaryZ, If our route took us closer to you, I would stop for a quick hello in person. Heavenly Happy Birthday to your 1st DH.
I told Garry, last night, that we are fishing today!! I will get him moving soon. When we get back in, I will start some laundry and get the duffle bags out. If I need more space for packing, I was eyeing my sewing tote on wheels. I could unload it and use as a suitcase. I plan to leave shirts and my dress on hangers. I wanted to buy one of those rods you hang in the backseat, but no one in Kenora had one. I will lay them flat and hopefully find a rod in Winnipeg on Sunday. Time to get going.
Hope y'all have a good day.
Lyn

Re: Thursday july 18
Good morning,
Y'all must be sleeping in this morning, well except for Judi who has laundry done already!
*** I took a shower and came back ****
Judi... You'll have to le me know how you like your Apple Watch. I've been thinking about getting one too, but I kind of hinted at it when the kids were home from Alaska, so I better wait until Christmas!
Besides I have about 30 watches already! So good to hear you got good news at the eye dr! That's what I'm kind of afraid of... cleaning out my stash and getting rid of something I might NEED later!!
Maryz. NO I do not need any fabric!! BUT, that being said, $3.yd is almost too good to pass up. I had to totally resist Prime day deals on embroidery thread yesterday as I have more thread than I'll probably need for the rest of my lifetime! In fact, I bought a bigger drawer thingee to get it organized! Happy Birthday to your Michael. A birthday should always be celebrated! And how funny, he shares it with my Bren, like you share your birthday with my Evie! I'm thinking Katie has spent closet to $300 on laundry detergent, and those scent crystals for the wash to get the smell out. I've used the Oxyclean Odor Blast and that seems to do a pretty good job. I had a lot of charm squares that I hand washed in Dawn, vinegar and odor blast and they came out ok.
Lyn.. I'm sure going to Oregon is kind of bump in your plans but I encourage you to not miss a chance to be with your siblings. All mine are here in MN and it's even hard for us to find one day to get together. We promised our Mom we'd stay together and it seems even more important to me since we lost my brother Chris in 2012. So, go, enjoy and cherish every minute! I know you will be doing a mad dash to get to MO in time for appointments. Maybe next year I can meet you on the "west side"!
Chriss.... You'll have to let me know how you like that spin scrubber works. I looked at one of those too figuring it would be a great thing to use for cleaning the shower and those nasty corners of the floor! I tell my kids that they will have to split the $1.00 that will be left when I die 3 ways, only Kevin will get 34cents because he took care of me when Shawn was in Canada and Jen was in Alaska!
Valerie... We think alike.. I have a theory too, If I have my house too clean and friends come over, they will think they are in the wrong house!
Tina... You got a good deal on that haircut! My gal charges $45~ I've thought about going to Great Clips, but you just neve know who you are going to get . Lori has been doing my hair for about 4 years I think. I thought you were going to go short!! Still below your shoulders! I bet you wear it up in a pony on hot days!
Sharon... Sending a little prayer for your Dad today!
Not sure what the POTD Of the day is here today. I'm kind of in the process of re-doing my sewing room. I ordered a 9 drawer cart thing from Target that should be delivered today. The idea is to put ALL my embroidery thread in one place, instead of 3 different locations. While I wait for that I may sew a few more pencil cases. Viv it at the kids house so I'll see what she is up to and if she wants to hang out over here for a while since Kris went to work.
As I go, I wish you all Grace to keep you company in the way you go today!

Good morning!
It's a usual day here - hot! Nobody is outside and all outside stuff is done in the evening after the sun is behind the mountains.
I don't know if you remember the helicopter stunt, landing on the roof of a house nearby, well, they were at it again. On the 4th of July, they had a party and decorated that roof, this time with a Lamborghini, a Rolls Royce and a Maserati - the real cars! They hired a huge crane to lift those cars up there! Having that kind of money, I could sure think of better ways to spend it! PD was called, but I haven't heard anything more. Last I knew the house was for sale and I hope it does!
Not much here. Today I tackle a foam queen size mattress topper. It's just stuffed in my middle bedroom closet, sprawled wherever it wants. So I'll get my trusty rope and hopefully subdue it into a more manageable thing. Sarah wants it to remake cushions in her trailer. Otherwise it would have been in Acme Landfill a long time ago.
Well I'm off to find trouble,
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning. It just might be a great day weather wise. It's not supposed to be 100 so the windows will be open as long as possible.
Today I will go help a friend, she is still packing. She works and only has so much spare time. And she will stay here this weekend with Moose. I'm a little anxious about leaving Moose, he's never been without either Jerry or me here. But I have faith that it will work out.
I got the bid for my flooring. I think I will have the dinning room done as well. Probably next month or in September. They are scheduling 3 weeks out. Sounds like many doctors doesn't it?
Sharona, where does your dad live? Praying that it all works out with your step mom.
Valerie, I don't do labels either. I think the only quilt I have put a label on was Jerry's quilt of valor and Diane send me the label so I could fill in the blanks. She also told me how to register it. My grandparents, next door to me, put a basement in their house. It is a cool place to be in the summer. I had a feeling DBIL would have car issues along his travels. Glad it happened in NM rather that say, Stockton. The further away from you the better. Not nice but not something you want to add to your busy plate.
Tina, $27 for a hair cut is a bargain. I go to Great Clips and pay just over $20 and only get a cut. Philly cheese steak sounds wonderful, glad dad liked it.
Judi, maybe you should save that UFO so that you always have something to fall back on if you run out of projects? Glad all of your medical stuff is fine so you can focus on that stinkin' knee. I have Jerry's old phone, which is a year newer tahn my phone. I was going to transfer mine to his but it's just not doing what I want it to do. I had thought about getting a new phone and trading both the old ones in but just haven't moved forward with that yet. Hope your phone works wonderfully for you.
Maryq, The friend I was walking with only lasted one day. Seems no one wants to sweat. Moose and I get many walks in each day. I'm with you, the old dog teaching the new dog probably wouldn't work out here either. UGH, drill bits. I have found so many drill bits here I could open my own store and make millions. I think that when Jerry couldn't find something he just bought another one. Wouldn't want to put everything away where it goes, then Chriss wouldn't have anything to do after he died. Guess, now that I put it that way, he was doing me a favor. Lucky me. HA HA. Waht a sweet memory of your husband. Happy birthday to him.
Lyn, wondering if you could use a shower curtain rod to serve the purpose of hanging your clothes in the jeep? They are usually spring loaded. I will also pack today but will only be gone for the weekend. Enjoy your fishing day
Maryq, I go to Great Clips and have only had one bad hair cut, went back a couple of days later and another gal fixed it for me. I canceled the order for that spin brush. Judi has one and loves it. I'm pretty sure I would love it too but as I was looking at them some had features that others didn't have, it was just a rabbit hole and I decided to wait. Maybe next prime days.
Jana, it's a usual day here too. starting to warm up a bit this morning. I water early when it's cool and get to open up the house when the sun goes down, but I agree, it's pretty hot to do much outdoors during the day. happy foam wrangling. sounds like that should be a rodeo event.
I did get most of my housework done yesterday. I still need to dust which will happen this morning. But first, breakfast.
You all have a fantastic day,
Chriss

Maryz, that's a nice memory. My goodness he was young.
Chriss, when I got my shelving unit, it came with a drill bit for the screws they provided. We already had one, now we have 2. They multiply quickly.
I got together with some friends today and we did some ice dying. It was a fun day.
dinner was cereal, because I didn't feel like cooking.
Sleep well.
