SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Oct 28th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Oct 28, 2023 7:35 am

Good chilly morning!

We are 35* and there are freeze warnings. How did it come to this so quickly! A few weeks ago we were still enjoying evenings on our deck! November is only 4 days away!

Yesterday was Costco and regular grocery, house uglies, and packing trailer freezer. Our boys are coming this morning for Christmas brunch. I'm making blueberry pancakes (because I found blueberries in the freezer that need to be eaten) and bacon and the boys are bringing fruit and mimosas. We'll hand out gifts after we eat. Flannel shirts, a supply of batteries and battery cases to put them in, wine, ornaments, and cash. After the boys leave, I'll clean the kitchen and start prepping for tomorrow's white chicken chili. It's going to be a full, but fun weekend.

Our furnace is now up and running like it's supposed to. It's a two-stage furnace (whatever that means). The way it was hooked up, it only ran one stage (like our old furance). Extra wire had to be run from the furnace to the thermostat to make it work as it was designed. The owner of the furnace company saw our house, our old set up, and knew we were ordering a 2-stage furnace. We just assumed his bid included the wire and labor to hook up the new furance. But it didn't. We're lucky that Bill can do stuff. But we were disappointed in the company. We wanted to stay local and the owner is a neighbor. At least they compromised and supplied the wire for free, though Bill had to go pick it up from them.

TINA - sorry that that paper seems to have taken a powder. I've done all I can to help. And yes, the boys are thrilled with their new little cousin. I don't know if they plan any visiting. It's a BIG visit for them with airfare, hotel, etc. I bet you are enjoying watching your grands' games! All our grands ever played was soccer. And I really don't like soccer. But I like all the other sports. They did do karate all the way up to 3rd degree black belt. But there were only a couple of exhibitions and the test for their first black belt that we got to go to. I'm glad you got your Covid shot! All our shots were free (to us), one of the few benefits of getting older!

BECCA - didn't you say you were a kindergarten teacher? What a cute age!! Tell us more about the painting class you are hoping to take? Still life? If your mall is so close, you must live in a heavily urban area?

LORI - your Nov blocks are beautiful! And I had to Google that Autumn Love quilt pattern. It's beautiful! Do you have the pattern already? I saw the pattern for $25 and a bundle of fat eighths to go with for another $20. Not a bad deal! It's a lot of applique. I love the quilt but I'm not over OWL yet. I'm appliqued out! lol!

CAROL - you really got a lot accomplished whatever day you did all that you did! I was a little tired with my Covid shot, too, but all in all, the reaction was less than in the past. Bill's was, too, though he always reacts more than I do. But then, he's a man . . .

I will be making something from leftover roast beef, carrots, and potatoes. Maybe a hash? Maybe a simple reheat. With a salad on the side.

What's your plan?

Good morning all 🌞
The house is a tad cool at 63° in here, I've got a throw quilt over my legs.
Mary, we haven't hit freeze temps yet, I think that'll happen in about 2 weeks, maybe less.
I'm glad your furnace is working correctly now but yes that's a bummer to go local and then not do the full job.
The boys love soccer and have got me watching it on TV when I see a game, it's exciting and they run way more than football players LOL
We ended up being totally exhausted and acky for about 18 hours with our covid vaccine. I was in my sewing room and kept having to read my measurements over and over and I was so tired I felt like I was walking in slow motion and then the ackes started so I sat down and couldn't even keep my eyes open and then I got a headache. We slept from 11 to 8 and we're both fine this morning. Guess that shows our immune system still recognized it and is doing its job.
Becca, one of my really good friends here in town was my little brother's kindergarten teacher and also my kids, she's always busy like you. I think teachers have to have that extra energy in their DNA and it stays with you all 🥰
Lori, I need to check if I have Autumn Love, if I make it Holly will swipe it though 🤔 💭 🤔 💭
Carol, you've been busy! How was Disneyland?
We have a little league game at noon today that we're going to, tomorrow's will be at 8:30 brrrr it'll be cold early like that. But I hate to miss them, we missed last night's and they won by 1.
I'm playing my plans today by ear, not exactly sure what I'm doing.
Supper will be chicken I'm thinking.
Tina

Good Afternoon,

Maryz - Your brunch sounds very good! Hope your grandsons enjoy their shirts and other gifts. Batteries are always a great choice for a gift. Glad your furnace is now operational. We are having gas company come out on Wednesday to light it. They check the firebox to make sure it is safe.

Tina - Disneyland was fun. Next time I will see It's a Small World dressed up for Christmas, this time it was closed so they could prepare. I did get to Haunted Mansion which I won't go to again next time. I wanted to see the gingerbread house but was a bit disappointed. Oh well I saw it. Yesterday I was also very tired and achy after getting the Covid booster on Thursday but today feel just fine. DH had no ill effects. I do still have a rash.

Becca - Your dinner sounds good. Glad you got into the landscape painting class. Glad you found what you wanted at the mall.

DH had a class this morning and left early. I mopped the kitchen and dining room floor. I am almost halfway done with stitching down the binding. DH will be watching game 2 of Baseball.

Dinner will be marinated chicken, salad, and broccoli.

Carol

The kids came over and we had a late lunch / early dinner. Our daughter brought her dog Poe to join the pack. A little treat gets everyones attention.

We had steaks, mashed potatoes, salad, and angel food cake to celebrate our birthdays.

Have a lovely evening.
