SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Oct 12th
Good morning,
I think our rain has stopped for a few days now. Maybe we can squeeze one or two more evenings out on the deck this season before we dismantle it - bring in the house plants, pull in the room size wool rug, and store all the furniture cushions. We pull the rug in through the sliding glass door and put it under the dining table which is just inside the slider. We put the cushions into clean trash bags and put them on shelves out in the shop for the winter. Our 20 yr old fountain, which looks like a rocky waterall, has a big crack in it that Bill has tried to repair twice with no success so it will either go into the garbage or out into the yard, sans water, just for looks. Bill says we'll get a new one next spring.
Yesterday I had chiro and massage appts, then finished kitting up Butterflies. After that I put label and binding on Unicorn. Mary Q had a unicorn machine embroidery pattern and she made me the most adorable unicorn label I've ever seen. Today I'm going to bind Lemur and then pack all four quilts going to TX into clean trash bags and put them into our staging pile. Most of my day, though, will be making applesauce and canning it. Not looking forward to that. I love doing it, but my body and hands just don't tolerate a lot of standing and peeling any more without achy complaints. I think I might sit at the table to peel . . .
BECCA - I'll be praying for Taylor and the new baby for sure! All those soups sound wonderful! Bill would be in soup heaven at your Bible Study. And cornbread puts the meal over the top. I love cornbread. It's so scary anymore to go just about any place! Even church! Seattle and environs report 2 or 3 shootings a day on the news - mostly gangs. But the city defunded the police, got rid of 1/3 of the force, and now this is what we're left with, not to mention the smash and grabs, looting, and assaults. I won't go to Seattle anymore. We don't have enough guns. And Tacoma's Walmart can be scary, too. I don't go there either.
TINA - I'm happy your massage was so helpful! I know so many people dealing with sciatica. Been there myself and it HURTS! And for so long! Months! I trade massages for quilts and last year I made him 53 stockings for his family out of old quilts (some of which I'd made and he's worn out). But mostly I get a deeply discounted rate because of who I am - Jim Austin's little sister. David adored my older brother and thought of him as a father figure. Has Frankie had time to look at the Suburban yet and see if there's any sign of life?
I think tonite we're going to have chicken taco soup that I had in the freezer. I'm trying to eat down the freezer - especially the biggest foods. And the soup is in a medium size bowl. And after making applesauce all day long, I for sure won't want to cook.
What are you cooking (or not!) for supper tonite?

Hello everyone Sunny now after a light rain We are dry here
Today I go on bus here to eat out at an old cabin redone then on Parkway Lovevthe Parkway
I just finished putting buttons on a jacket One came off so I had to replace all
Maryz Thank you so much for praying We are all very anxious for them I do pray she can carry it full term
That’s why I go on bus here to Walmart I feel a lot safer even though in the store we don’t stay together I like it better I have drove but There’s so many people I don’t like it but sometimes have to have items I can’t get elsewhere due to not knowing my way around here yet At Home I never went there
Yes ts Fall here too and to chilly to sit on porch I will miss it Winter isn’t my favorite time of year
Tina I’m glad your massages helped

Good morning all
The sun is shining brightly and we've got Fall wind, I had to shut the window at 2:30 am.
Mary, I hear you about standing, it's what gets me too. I love homemade applesauce, it's the best!
I've been dealing with this sciatica since 2010, I'm tired of it personally.
That's great you get the family discount at your chiropractor
The fuel pump came apart inside the fuel tank on the suburban, thankfully it's under warranty so it was free to replace and we didn't have to spend the $120 for it. That doesn't fix the starting problem which he thinks is something that he has to take the top of the engine off to get to and fix. So far he hasn't been able to start it. He's also getting very sore and tired from working on it. He pumped out 30 gallons of gas and started putting it in the van and truck which needed gas anyway. He had to pump the gas out because he has to drop the fuel tank down and off, it's heavy enough without 300 pounds of gas in it.
Becca, do any grocery stores have delivery to you? We signed up for that here when it became available and it's really a gas saver. The membership was $49 for the first year and will be $99 after that but with the price of gas it really saves us. I don't tip the driver, they get paid $14 an hour and they've said they love it! If I tipped it wouldn't save us any with already having to pay the membership.
I'm not sure about supper yet, I'm really leaning towards breakfast for supper.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Oct 12th
Tina, I just watched a clip about a guy who connects local farms with local schools for getting fresh ingredients for kids lunches. He was saying that so much of what they serve ends up in the trash. Since they switched over to local farm fresh foods, the kids are eating their lunches instead of throwing them away. He was in Texas. Jamie Oliver tried to get schools to change over years ago, but it was a constant struggle.
Becca, I'm not a fan of Walmart. I only go if there is no other option.
Mary, when we were in Portland this summer, the Target store had most of it's window covered in plywood. I assume because the thugs broke in. There was a group of undesirables in a group outside the store. We walked by, but then took a different route back. It's a shame the way thing are going.
I didn't get much done yesterday. I went to our philanthropy sew day for guild and help out making bindings and backings for quilt tops. Went grocery shopping this morning and took dad to the cemetery to put out fresh flowers. I get a dozen beautiful roses at Trader Joe's for $9.99.
I'm going to go and start getting things ready for my retreat next week. I've already got a few projects in bags, so I might just take those.
Dinner will be Pasta with veggies.
Have a lovely day.
