Supper club. Friday, Sept 8

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Sep 08, 2023 6:25 am

Good morning,

Yesterday was great! My massage really helped my back & S/ I joints. It’s not purrfect yet but so much better that it was. Then we had a very pleasant 4 hr drive to wine country. We hosted a blind wine tasting at our campsite and had snacks for supper. Today, we’ll be going to a couple of wineries. Not sure yet what supper is going to be.

Tina, do you sell your eggs? Here they go for abt $5/doz.

Becca, i hope you find the rest of your things that haven’t turned up yet. Oooh a luau! That would be fun, I think.

Carol, sounds like a fun trip! I would like to see if any quilt shops are around here but it’s not of general interest to this group I think. And I did just buy quite a bit of fabric last Tues….

Bill thinks we will probably all go out to dinner tonight. There is a Mexican restaurant 1/3 mi down the road.

Whats for supper at your house?

Mary, a blind tasting sound fun. Have fun at the wineries today. It's always fun to try out new wines.

Yesterday Jonathan and I went to Santa Catalina Island for the day. On the boat ride over, there was a large school of Dolphin on both sides of the boat. They were with us for about 15 minutes. So fun to see them jumping out of the water. We also saw a small whale. I can't remember what kind they said it was. We went to the Wrigley Memorial and Botanical Garden. We also went to the Avalon Theatre. I've always wanted to see what was inside that big round building. Walked around a lot too. It was a beautiful and fun day.

Today I need to take my dad for a shave and to the cemetery since we missed yesterday. Then I do a little organizing of a cupboard or two. The hall cupboards are a bit of a mess. And also binding is still on the agenda.

Dinner will be enchilada pie and Spanish rice.

Have a lovely day.

Good early afternoon from another warm, but not stinking hot, sunny, SW. Pa....We really have had some miserable days and many know, I love the heat but this was a bit too much...Since we've come home from camp, I've had a very hard time breathing and have done nothing productive, except sit in the recliner and crochet...Today is better and I've been to the shed and brought in more yarn from the stash....I also sorted a shopping bag full for a friend and have another gal planning to stop to pick up some....

Mary, What fun, you are having....I like some wines but noticed a big difference when we were in Napa...Jim always said, the wine we have is more like soda pop but out there, it's the real stuff.....My heavens, do your chickens lay those golden eggs??? Ours go for about $1.30 a dozen.....Enjoy your vacation, have a glass or 2 for me.....(Might help my breathing, lol)...
And, no, when we were at camp, we didn't play strip poker....Could you imagine, us old ladies playing, OH my, not an vision I want to keep....We play a game called Hand and Foot, a form of canasta...I think 1 of the qualifications for camp is to know how to play or be a quick learner....We do get carried away but sure do have fun.....

Becca, sure hope you come across the things that are missing...It's been 3 years since I've moved and every once in a while, something will show up....Things that I least expect....Like Mary, I would have gone to the Luau...When we were in Hawaii, Kathy arranged for us to all go to one on Thanksgiving....It was wonderful and I even got to hula (badly) with one of the dancers.....Something we will never forget and would love to go back.....

Lori, Your day sounded very special....You really had a full day, didn't you.....

Gotta run, Kevin just pulled in to do the grass.....

For my dinner, something simple, maybe a salad......Kevin brought a bag of tomatoes and peppers.....

You all have a great rest of the day....

Happy eating..............

Good Afternoon,

We arrived home earlier today. We had a wonderful time. The wine country in Paso Robles winds through ancient oak trees. We stopped and had a marvelous pizza and small glass of wine. (DH was driving and did not drink.) Then for dinner we went to a winery close to the hotel and took it back to the room. The winery closed at 5:00 PM and we wanted to eat a little later. It was more food than we could eat. We should have shared a meal. We did buy several bottles of wine yesterday and brought them home. We got home in just over four hours. Traffic was light this morning.

Maryz - Glad your back feels better and hope you are enjoying your trip.

Becca - I am so sorry to hear you still cannot find things. I hope they turn up. I know you must be very upset about it.

Irish - Sorry you are having trouble breathing. Glad to hear there is no strip poker at camp.

Lori - Which port did you use to go to Catalina?

I fixed breakfast for us when we got home at 10:30 and we skipped lunch. I have salad from last night so not sure what else will be on the menu this evening.

Carol
